@@diegocastaneda8225 2014 3.7 base, 177k. Had a few minor issues with coolant hoses busting (I assume we all have that issue at some point). Radiator completely gave out about 130k in. Compressor shut down, tearing my belt up at about 173k. Don't have the resources to take care of that so we got a shorter belt and rerouted to not include compressor and it still runs smooth. And now at 177k the alternator is out, and all pulleys pretty much need replacing. My mom was actually it's second owner before me, however she put maybe 60k on it while I'm at about 95k, and before I got into actually learning for myself how to take care of my car, she would tell me just put in unleaded when it's harder to afford the premium. Looking back at it I wonder why she would even buy or hand me down a premium gas only car, but nonetheless I love this car, just take good care of it and put premium in it (every time).
got a 18' had engine replaced under 35k miles. All done under warranty about two years ago at my local Infiniti dealer, since the new engine and turbos its been great. got a few mods on it and i drive it hard once in a while. still holding up. Most important thing is Oil level and oil changes. stay on top of the maintenance!
I have a 2016, I did experience the belt squeak got the updated pulley and no issues since. Been 3 years since then. The job is cheap. That reason is easy to knock out I also experience a blend door failure. My car has been tuned for 40k miles no oil consumption issues or loss of coolant. And I drive the car pretty hard. White smoke on start up is fairly normal for the 3.0t as for some reason the exhaust collected a lot of condensation. As long as it clears after warm up that shouldn't be a concern either. If it smells like burning oil or coolant is more important imo. I will admit the 16 is definitely a bit more problematic but not anymore so then a 17-18 besides the 1 year of age. If you can find one low miles and take the proper precautions like running 5w-30 or 5w40, checking oil regularly the car should be fine. Also about the pourus block..... Sometimes that actually ends up being the gallery plugs in the head. Pretty easy fix. If they get loose coolant will leak into the heads and start burning/disappearing you can check these with a compression test of the coolant system. Nissan didn't torque them properly or some have bad seals. Porous block is not likely to just randomly start being a problem after 50k miles it's either porous from the start or it's not. Oil and coolant are not deteriorating the block. So if you randomly start loosing coolant after 30-40k miles and you can't find a leak it could likely be gallery plugs in the heads. Hope this finds some of the right people!!!
I have a 2014 q50 and have had no major issues been owned since 2019 with 87,000 miles on her she has 200,000 and still runs great.i change the oil every 5,000 miles tire rotation regularly fluids check.so no transmission slips im in the process of upgrading the suspension and exhaust but over all my 14' 3.7 is better overall ❤🎉
had mine since 2019 as well with 52k miles now i’m at 150k and still running flawlessly 🤍 only “major” issue was a leaking radiator other than that still running strong 💪
2017 owner, fully tuned and bolt ons. Only had the belt replacement issue and just going to keep an eye out for it and will replace sooner than later to avoid the belt slip again. Otherwise no issues and at 80k miles so far.
change oil every 6k miles i have to change my powertrain fluids already changed transmission fluid after valvebody n speed sensor went bad add coolant when needed n maintain tires rotate align change them when bald on inside pretty simple stuff

I'm not familiar with the Infinity Q vehicles, being a 370Z owner, but I can attest to the ruggedness and durability of the NA VQ37 engines. My main caveat with the VQ37 engine is that its VVEL system really beats up on the engine oil. Consequently, I would be sure to use a high-quality synthetic and not push it beyond 4k miles without having a used oil analysis done to verify that the oil is still good.
My 2017 Q50 turbos were about to blow at 38k miles. Then I totaled it. Though, I bought it without knowing the previous owner had modified it and tuned it. The Infiniti dealer I got it from did not disclose that information.
2018 Q50. Had turbos replaced for seals under warranty (~10k bill) then just had long block, turbos and oil cooler replaced for porous block (~19k bill to Nissan with 1 week left in warranty). Thankfully these are the engines they are slapping into the Nissan Z so should be good now! Haha
Wrong , there aren't enough Nissan zs on the road to say if they are good or not going to have to find out in the next 10 years , every problem besides the belt issue is a possibility in the new Z cars as two people had Q50 issues on their 2023 Z one porous block the other blown turbos

I would Love to see you buy a high mileage one like mine and restore the engine and get it ready for boosting like supercharging .. 2017 silver sport here w 111k miles, like it so much I bought a 2017 red sport to modify, 46k miles upgraded turbos w supporting mods. Stock motor stock trans. 10k miles w the mods only shredded a belt then upgraded it

2018 Q50s, owned since new, 33k miles, extended warranty, had driver seat cover changed due to creases in side bolster, hood and trunk struts changed since they were not opening all the way up, and steering wheel changed out since small piece of leather coming off, all covered under 8 year extended warranty. If you don't intend to use your extended warranty, don't get it. I have OCD with all my cars and they need to look immaculate and functioning 120%
2014 Q50 3.7 just hit 100k miles. Have been fbo tuned since 30k miles never had an issue. Only 2 major repairs (my fault for listening to the manufacturers stupid suggestion to never replace the transmission fluid) my transmission valvebody went out. $1k repair but not bad honestly since i never replaced the fluid and have been tuned and push my car close to redline often. The other repair was the ac compressor needed to be replaced it was $700. Just love the sound.
The valve body failure didn’t have anything to do with the fluid not being changed. They just fail on these cars. Some with low miles some with higher miles. But only $1000 to repair is actually not a bad deal.
@@SpeedCultureStudios I didn’t change my transmission oil I was thinking the same thing, I brought it to Infinity. They told me I need a new transmission, but after that, I brought it to a transmission shop. Might just be the valve body tho idk yet
So far with my 2017 I’ve had no issues and I’m sitting at 115k km. Luckily I got this at 18k km with a wicked used car full warranty. But so far so good, zero issues at all.
Hi, q50 fans i own a q50 premium silver sport and yes it's 2016 haven't had none of the q50 issues of any year with my car. I did change my turbos with extended warranty but my car had already 89,500 on it last year.i think It's just a thing of bad luck al manufacturers have bad cars it could be the reliable toyota even and definitely most American car or the favorite German bmw that are just money pits but has a owner you can't be cheap on maintenance that's when most of the problems come up.all car models have problems and the more technology it has the more problems you going to get. just in case someone thinks the reason I haven't had problems with my car is because it's stock well it's not full bolt on and tuned and in texas heat.

Got my 16 redsport at 16k miles. I have 55k now. the only problem i had was the belt.. I just have a catch can, down pipes, and drop in filters no issues.
Bought a 2021 Q50 with 40k miles. 5k miles later had one turbo replaced and the water pump. Now 3k miles later the other one is making a rattle. This is my third Infiniti and definitely my last.
@@Beesknees4trees as long as you maintain it well. I have boosted6 catch can with an alpha red ams heat exchanger and I also did a walnut blast service. It's important to keep up with your oil changes and transmission fluid as well as differential. Don't forget change spark plugs air filters. If you want upgrade to perform better you would have to do your research.
I've had a 2014 q50 new for 6 months & got rid of it. I currently have a 18 q60. I just started to hear it chirp a week ago. I'll probably have to take it in.
Very easy fix! Typically a new belt & need to re-align the AC/Pulley & you are good to go. Look into replacing belts around 25k miles, my car is tuned & heavily modified so i swap mine out every 15-20k. FBO 2018 AWD Q60 RS tuned by Racebox for over 60k miles now & not one issue thankfully.
They all have issues. He didn't talk about the rod bearing issues up into the 2021s. I've had the engine/ turbos replaced as well on a 21. But, it was all covered under warranty, so I'm not mad at it.
Got a 2017 3.0T back in 2018 with 32k miles. 111k miles later still running strong, looks flawless inside and out, and only had to change the thermostat. I’ve had a e92 335i, e92 M3, f10 540i, and this q50 has been more reliable in every way by far. Still blows me away how new the interior looks. No faded buttons, no creeks/squeaks, no cracks in the leather. Definitely getting another 3.0T when it’s time to replace.
I drive a 2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7 (premium )I just hit 94k miles ! Regular oil changes , I just replace my spark plugs ! They found oil on them ! I replace the gaskets and 2 crankshaft sensors ! 1 month later I get a check engine light on. Maf sensor code / Cam shaft sensor code😢
Reasons with the 3.0tt bad reliability rating is 10k oil changes. Keep up with maintenance and it’ll last .2019 and up is the best 3.0tt there plenty of 3.0tt with 150k miles and 200k with original turbos

The snapped belt doesn’t concern me per se, but the snapped belt WITH super low miles does. When didn’t belt break? When was it last driven? Have you been able to run the car?
They have been good cars for those that have them. Not much can be done in terms of performance upgrades, but that only matters if you’re concerned about it.

Hey SCS and community! Could someone help me with understanding which set of flanges would work for the Q50 SCS Catback? I am not sure what specs the flanges would need to work with the exhaust.
2016 is GREAT! I have one. Heres the secret. Drive it hard for 10-13 months. Eventually you will get a nice whistle from the turbos. At this point it is sort of cute. Everybody loves the little whistle as you drive by. After a few months, you will soon hear the clanging of metal on metal. It is a beautiful sound too but a little more obnoxious. Not for everyone! At htis point you get about 30 more minutes of life left in it or whatever time it takes you to get to home to the safety of your garage. You have now completed the first journey of the almighty 2016 Q50. The best is yet to come. Since you saved so much money by not putting oil into every 250 miles, you now hav enough money to buy a used engine with low mileage. I wonder how far my low mileage 2021 engine 2016 Q50 will get me. Looking forward to the next part of the journey. Runs great so far!

Ok hear this. 2020 edition 30 AWD If I turn a hard left and accelerate under normal circumstances. The second traction light comes on and the car struggles to accelerate. It has 37k miles on it. What could that be?

Look man if you take care of your car you will get no issues So don't listen to people online about how they had to change the engine The 3.0t 2018+ is a good engine if you take care of it
Maintenance is always key, but as I said in the video, there are a few known issues that maintenance will not help. It is what it is. Yes, the 2018+ is generally thought of being pretty reliable, but even the 2018 falls to some of these problems. The advice in the video is legit. I have nothing to gain for lying to you 😂
Only buy the one with the VQ37 in it. The VR30 is garbage! Buy a used 540i instead same price or even cheaper, with a B58 way more reliable and can make way more power...
Dude acts like an extened warranty companies don't exist. Most people can't drop 25-30k+ on a 2017+ q50/60. 99% of banks will roll the warranty into the loan and it will only change the payment by like $20-50 depending on the price of the warranty

And warranties are only helpful if you don’t plan on modding-most people viewing this channel will be making upgrades. I love my 3.7 2015. I love what it gives me for the preowned price. I won't buy another Q50 other than a 2015 q50 because If I get something with turbos it will be a turbo charged vehicle with an inline 6. I know what to expect out of my current 2015 and I am never let down.
@ You might need to look around outside your area. Prices were absolutely inflated. Maybe you weren’t buying/selling before the pandemic. Hard to believe you got a 0.9% rate but if you did it’s because dealers can’t sell anything - because no one is buying when “inflation” is so high. Absolutely nothing wrong with 2014. Only difference is it has a slight delay on the touch screen. Nothing too serious. That’s nothing that should stop anyone from getting it lol

Almost like a computer in the car. But the lag is really not that bad very minimal and you only notice it when you’re going through the screen looking for settings otherwise, on a daily basis you’re using it mainly for music and just switching songs which there’s no lag really

Do you recommend changing the trans fluid? Never have and I’m at 126k

That’s because it’s a VQ motor you have. 2016 model is VR30
I have had 3 Q50s, 14 hybrid and a 18 RS and my current 21 RS, great cars, never had any issues. This guy is negative and thinks he knows everything.
2017 Q50 with at 79k miles. No issues. Jumped in it used and I have extended warranty. Still going good. 🕺🏽
Keep an eye on the coolant level. I have my engine replaced at 73k in my 2020 because of Coolant Intrusion

You should avoid any q50 with turbos. My 15 q50s 3.7 still running good and has 160k miles on it.

I currently have a 18 q60. I just started to hear it chirp a week ago. I'll probably have to take it in.
Very easy fix! Typically a new belt & need to re-align the AC/Pulley & you are good to go. Look into replacing belts around 25k miles, my car is tuned & heavily modified so i swap mine out every 15-20k. FBO 2018 AWD Q60 RS tuned by Racebox for over 60k miles now & not one issue thankfully.
They all have issues. He didn't talk about the rod bearing issues up into the 2021s. I've had the engine/ turbos replaced as well on a 21. But, it was all covered under warranty, so I'm not mad at it.
Warranty is nice! I haven’t heard of a major rod bearing issue.
Have the 2014 3.7 premium with 160k miles and still going strong.
Got a 2017 3.0T back in 2018 with 32k miles. 111k miles later still running strong, looks flawless inside and out, and only had to change the thermostat. I’ve had a e92 335i, e92 M3, f10 540i, and this q50 has been more reliable in every way by far. Still blows me away how new the interior looks. No faded buttons, no creeks/squeaks, no cracks in the leather. Definitely getting another 3.0T when it’s time to replace.
I drive a 2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7 (premium )I just hit 94k miles !
Regular oil changes , I just replace my spark plugs ! They found oil on them ! I replace the gaskets and 2 crankshaft sensors ! 1 month later I get a check engine light on. Maf sensor code / Cam shaft sensor code😢
Reasons with the 3.0tt bad reliability rating is 10k oil changes. Keep up with maintenance and it’ll last .2019 and up is the best 3.0tt there plenty of 3.0tt with 150k miles and 200k with original turbos

should I be conerned abt a lowwww very low mileage 2017 q50 with a snapped belt? its going for a really affordable price n its basically undriven less than 20k miles
The snapped belt doesn’t concern me per se, but the snapped belt WITH super low miles does. When didn’t belt break? When was it last driven? Have you been able to run the car?
What do you think about the 15' 3.5 hybrid? I dont know why but there is no 3.7 being sold currently in the EU.. Still I would like to buy one.
They have been good cars for those that have them. Not much can be done in terms of performance upgrades, but that only matters if you’re concerned about it.
@@SpeedCultureStudios im more concerned about the reliability and the longevity of the VQ35 and even more of the hybrid engine. Not really familiar with the platform but really like the looks of the car and also the performance that it offers.
I am following the same concept... buying a 2009 370Z for half the price of a 2020 370Z would be a better option (considering both cars are in the same condition).
This is exactly reason why 2015/14 3.7 q50 should go up in value retailability

Rates vary a bit by lender and obviously by credit score, but people are seeing anywhere between 5-11% on vehicles these days.
Maintenance is key
2016 is GREAT! I have one. Heres the secret. Drive it hard for 10-13 months. Eventually you will get a nice whistle from the turbos. At this point it is sort of cute. Everybody loves the little whistle as you drive by. After a few months, you will soon hear the clanging of metal on metal. It is a beautiful sound too but a little more obnoxious. Not for everyone! At htis point you get about 30 more minutes of life left in it or whatever time it takes you to get to home to the safety of your garage. You have now completed the first journey of the almighty 2016 Q50. The best is yet to come. Since you saved so much money by not putting oil into every 250 miles, you now hav enough money to buy a used engine with low mileage. I wonder how far my low mileage 2021 engine 2016 Q50 will get me. Looking forward to the next part of the journey. Runs great so far!

I have a 2015, currently I have a p0170 , and another I can’t think of rn but also both banks are running lean. Apparently it’s o2 sensors but dealers have literally just scammed me. The belt is loose aswell. I’m in a hole man

Ok hear this. 2020 edition 30 AWD If I turn a hard left and accelerate under normal circumstances. The second traction light comes on and the car struggles to accelerate. It has 37k miles on it. What could that be?
if you do get another Q50, go all in and get the Red Sport. I'm thinking of getting another Q50 but the 2021 Red Sport.
If I’m modding it, I would not get a red sport most likely. The difference in price would pay for wheels and tires or something.

Maintenance is always key, but as I said in the video, there are a few known issues that maintenance will not help. It is what it is. Yes, the 2018+ is generally thought of being pretty reliable, but even the 2018 falls to some of these problems. The advice in the video is legit. I have nothing to gain for lying to you 😂

Only buy the one with the VQ37 in it. The VR30 is garbage! Buy a used 540i instead same price or even cheaper, with a B58 way more reliable and can make way more power...
I gave you which years to avoid in the video 😂 Not taking anything away from the b58 but you can have a great experience with a 3.0t q50.
Dude acts like an extened warranty companies don't exist. Most people can't drop 25-30k+ on a 2017+ q50/60. 99% of banks will roll the warranty into the loan and it will only change the payment by like $20-50 depending on the price of the warranty
I’m not acting like they don’t exist. I’m talking about which year to look at to avoid highest potential of issues. And warranties are only helpful if you don’t plan on modding-most people viewing this channel will be making upgrades.

I love my 3.7 2015. I love what it gives me for the preowned price. I won't buy another Q50 other than a 2015 q50 because If I get something with turbos it will be a turbo charged vehicle with an inline 6. I know what to expect out of my current 2015 and I am never let down.

Never inflated. Prices have stayed where the norm was. I'm kind of a big deal when it comes to buying cars. You just got to try harder

Hard to believe you got a 0.9% rate but if you did it’s because dealers can’t sell anything - because no one is buying when “inflation” is so high. Absolutely nothing wrong with 2014. Only difference is it has a slight delay on the touch screen. Nothing too serious. That’s nothing that should stop anyone from getting it lol
But you can just get a 15 and avoid the glitches

@@dudewithadonut9242 yes you can also do that. You can also replace it and bit a screen with Apple software and another screen that’s a Tesla screen with so much access. Almost like a computer in the car. But the lag is really not that bad very minimal and you only notice it when you’re going through the screen looking for settings otherwise, on a daily basis you’re using it mainly for music and just switching songs which there’s no lag really
