- Welcome to another episode on this channel! This time we are going to talk about one of the storyline aspects on which many players remain silent - how did CJ get to know Tenpenny and Pulaski. As you probably guessed, there's pretty much no information regarding this topic. However, while surfing the Internet, we found something really interesting that might uncover this mystery... at least partially. Enjoy the video! 🤘

One more thing, folks! We have discovered that the juvenile that CJ was doing time in during part of his childhood could be unnamed prison in the Commerce district in Los Santos. We believe that it might be this building since it does have a strong resemblance to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. You can compare those two buildings by yourself through these links:
gta.fandom.com/wiki/Los_Santos_Prison
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Towers_Correctional_Facility
CJ was afraid of Toreno in the beginning, but he's probably his guardian angel, he freed Sweet, saved CJ from Tenpenny and Pulaski from framing him and did a lot of good things to CJ.
Yeah also put his life at risk numerous times for his own monetary gain but I guess there’s a catch to everything
When did he save him from being framed? Tenpenny only couldn't frame Carl anymore because by the end of the game his corruption was being exposed and he had lost the influence necessary to do so
@@thestrong2401 it was before he was exposed, he was trying to frame CJ got Pendelbury's death.
@@laurencealonzo2245 I would say that it was fair, but considering how insane are his basically suicide missions it's really not, and all he gained from it makes any favours or money needed to clear Sweet chump change, but he still mantained his word when he could have totally threw CJ under the bus or keep using him, wich makes him way better as a person than many other powerful GTA characters.
He strikes me as a professional businessman, you have to work like hell to get what you had promised by him, but as long as you mantain your part of the bargain he will mantain his.
@@R-team-field-commander Toreno was a vulture who took Advantage of Cjs desperate situation, he put him through numerous life threatening missions for his own benefit when he very likely had the money and connections to have someone else do it he used his brother as collateral for Gods sake and played mind games to manipulate CJ into doing whatever he wanted he didn’t give af about Cj, he exploited him
Tenpenny is definitely in the top of video games villains for me. It wasn’t an over the top stereotypical evil genius that so many games like to do. It was just a corrupt cop with bold ambitions. Plus Samuel L Jackson played him perfectly. I know Dan Houser wrote or co-wrote all the games in the GTA franchise so far. I hope Rockstar can match his level in future instalments
We agree!
Writing though good wasn't something people payed much attention towards back then, it was the open world. However starting from GTA V their open worlds are more of a journey filler instead of actual simulators, that aspect is now reserved for online for better or worse
Why does officer Hernandez betray tenpenny?
@@grandtheftauto3646
Moral duty
He wasn't an evil genius but he was very manipulative and clever with higher intelligence
Truly it makes the connection between CJ and Tenpenny more personal and depth than we realized before

same, its so good
If I were to make a GTA antagonist, he would be similar to Tennpenny.
1: He is a Swat commander
2: He purposely flooded every city with drugs, illegal guns, and corrupt police
3: Killed his wife to avoid his first prosecution and framed an innocent person
4: Accused multiple times of bribery
5: Has minor affiliations with gangs
6: Plotted to take over a casino but failed and now is starting an organized war
7: Killed an old Swat Commander who is a law abiding citizen
8: Secretly working with a scammer, a two mob bosses, and plans to disappear to San Fierro.
That's an interesting piece of fan-fiction, Joseph! 😃
Imagine that type of villain as a GTA 6 antagonist
You know funnily enough that sounds almost like Gary Schaffer from Manhunt.
@@gaminginvestigators if that character is in a multiple protagonist system similar to GTA V, that type of character would be great in a GTA game in which the antagonists are corrupt law enforcement kinda like placing Steve Haines (FBI/FIB), Jerry Martinez (military) and Frank tenpenny In the same game
Wow

Thank you, James! We're glad to hear that 🙂
They knew CJ was making moves and was becoming a threat to them they underestimated him at first but he was getting too powerful.

I remember Toreno calling Tenpenny "benign" and thought he was being a moron, but it seems he had the bigger picture.
i remember being skeptical of this channel first thinking it was like those clickbait mythbusting channels, but i am really glad i was proved wrong. Hopefully ya'll get the growth and recognition u deserve.
BTW whats the mod name for the orange grove families?
Happy to hear that we changed your mind, bro! 🙂
I Actually think Tenpenny knew CJ would've survived the mission "High Noon" because he basically abandoned Pulaski and left him there for dead like literally which is why he left as he knew things were gonna get ugly and knows what CJ is capable of.
Very interesting video bud. I think however that CRASH met Carl during 1987, because Tenpenny was very much aware of Brian’s death. I doubt Tenpenny would bring that up if he wasn’t personally involved in the case. Also I doubt Tenpenny realised that Sweet was being protected, and I doubt he placed any effort into securing him as leverage over Carl at this point because he was increasingly paranoid and weary of his trial. On top of that it seems that his alliance with Smoke died out due to Smoke denouncing Tenpenny and Pulaski by End of the line, further complicating matter for Frank because if Smoke would have been arrested for his involvement with Tenpenny and his unit, he’d instantly sell them out, and Tenpenny knew that so he wanted to kill Smoke eventually. Still as usual I agree with some points you’ve made such as Tenpenny being paranoid that Carl will turn on his unit and that CJ only worked with Tenpenny to perfectly ensure he that Sweet is safe because he feared CRASH, and him distrusting Toreno is also a very good argument that made Carl continually work with Tenpenny. I guess Carl distrusted pretty much everyone associated with drugs or people who reminded him of Smoke and Ryder, such as Catalina, who was crazier than Ryder, or Truth for smoking and dealing in marijuana, and lastly Toreno suddenly coming out of nowhere, who was a drug runner, which obviously didn’t do wonders for CJ’s trust in him. CJ’s betrayal by Smoke and Ryder caused him to distrust everyone reminding him of them, and furthermore everyone associated with narcotics, but he’s genuinely warm up to them if they prove trustworthy or if they have similar principles to his own. Ken is also an interesting case, because CJ never had any problems with him in spite of his drug addictions, but I guess Carl felt sympathetic towards his situation, same with Madd Dogg. Sorry about the dragged out comment, with sometimes no connection to the video’s subjects.
very well written argument
Carl's issue was with the dealer, not the stoner. Ken was just an abuser. Carl can empathize (somewhat) with that.
@@Raphie009 I dunno Carl still had problems with Ryder’s drug addiction.
Hello there Just! So yeah, it's totally possible that CJ met Tenpenny in 1987. However, we believe that their relationship dates back much earlier when he was very young 😉 We are kinda surprised that you doubt Tenpenny trying to maintain the advantage of having Sweet at his disposal until Toreno joined the action. Just imagine that Tenpenny wouldn't try to make sure that he is in control of him, and suddenly he (Sweet) decides to successfully escape. CJ would be amazed by this and stop working with Tenpenny instantly, perhaps even before he was going to the desert. We have to underline that we are not only thinking about holding Sweet near the time "High Noon" will take place. We are talking about the whole adventure, from the countryside to Las Venturas. As for Big Smoke, we absolutely agree with your points. We are looking forward to more of your comments, man 👌
@@gaminginvestigators Thanks buddy I love commenting on your videos. Basically my point was that I doubt Tenpenny placed any effort into securing Sweet as leverage over CJ by the time of Misappropriation because of the fact that he had more problems and Pendlbury’s murder was still a leverage Frank can use over Carl, because he can still try and who knows if Carl would trust Toreno’s ability to protect him from a specific moment in which Tenpenny threatens Carl’s freedom under the threat of incarceration at an exact time.
Giving the video a thumbs up and saving it to watch after work
Good idea! 😁 Just don't forget to watch it 😅
@@gaminginvestigators Good morning! I didn't forget. Watched it before going to bed.
CJ had a terrible first day back into the city. They pulled his taxi over, they lost his bag, they took his money and then pulled up in a rival gang neighborhood and just dropped him off there. 🤣🤣🤣
Then almost got attacked by smoke then got attacked by ballas on the way back & all the families gave him shit
Loved your videos when you only had 100 subs and only 3 videos. Most UA-camrs now a days show GTA 5 while you show true GTA' s which makes you the best of em all.
We are honored to hear such compliments ☺ Thank you! 🙂
They show GTA V because its the most recent GTA, it was like that for GTA IV for example, when that was the newest GTA, everyone mostly posted videos of GTA IV
Theres This UA-camr called The Professional he said in his video that in High Noon Mission Tenpenny Knew how capable CJ is and knew he would kill Officer Pulaski in that Mission and he was fine with it so Pulaski wouldnt turn on Tenpenny and testify against him
Well, since Tenpenny decided to flee from Ghost Town, seems like an obvious thing that he wanted to betray Eddie Pulaski 😁
@@gaminginvestigators Yeah he could have stayed to make sure Pulaski really killed carl and not the other way around
The whole story goes around tenpenny using cj as a tool to destroyball the evidence that there is against him and his units corruption, at the end when all the evidence was destroyed, tenoenny only needes to tie the loose ends which CJ potentially was one of the loose ends
Good summary 😃
Los santos is a parallel to Los Angeles. There’s an actual crash or gang unit in LA, it’s not uncommon for crash cops to know gang members and vice versa because they always deal with eachother, on a first name basis so that explains how cj knows tenpenny
Thanks for reassuring us! 😉

Tenpenny actually kept CJ alive too long while Pulaski wanted to get rid of him. I feel this is actually Tenpenny's biggest mistake. He waited too long to do it.

i think he wanted to kill cj because of hernandez's betrayal. he thought cj could betray him too, so he planned cj's death.
Pulaski admitted that tenpenny was always down for using cj while pulanski always wanted to kill CJ from the start
@@jason200912 that was before hernandez's betrayal. after betrayal, there wasn't so much time for tenpenny to tell pulaski his new plan regarding cj
A bit of a correction about Tennpenny's threat.
Tenpennny never directly threatened Carl that he will get Sweet killed by officers. Rather suggested Sweet might not survive staying in a cell at a "Ballas block".
He also suggested Sweet would be butt r@ped if CJ didn't comply🤣What an evil man
Tenpenny had already attempted to kill sweet once pretty sure he would do it again if given the chance
@@laurencealonzo2245 But he wouldn't need to get his own hands dirty once Sweet was in prison. He just needed to transfer Sweet to a part of the prison that the Ballas control and let nature take its course.
CJ is a top ranking grove street member so as a result he's most likely been arrested and harrased by Tenpenny countless times growing up. No back story really needed for that lol
And now you know a little bit more of the history of their relationship than what we know from the storyline 😉
When I first played San Andrea's I thought Tenpenny was CJ's father for some reason
What made you think so? 😱
I think CJ's father is the barber Old Reece. Either him or Emitt.
It seems fairly logical that Tenpenny would know CJ simply because he's a CRASH unit cop in the territory CJ's gang is in... For me the bigger question is how he knew CJ was coming back to LS, and not only that, he even knows what flight he's on and when it's arriving... That was a much bigger plot hole to me than Tenpenny knowing who CJ was.
Also, I'm racking my brain... I don't think there is any crossover between Tenpenny and Pulaski and Toreno, does Tenpenny even know Mike exists? I can't see how.
CJ childhood just like my when I always be arrested by officers and they use to do something for them
But you don't commit crimes anymore, right? 😬
No I stop
@@gaminginvestigators hes clean now, legit
I always find it strange that through the game you meet powerful people like Mafia bosses Yakuza leaders CIA agents but the Main Antagonist is just a corrupt police officer in uniform... and after all the crazy shit you did like doing some mission impossible type missions like stealing a Jetpack from the Military robbing a Casino who belongs to the Mafia in an ocean's11 style or missions that involves planes despite you barely just learned how to ride a plane and then you go back with the hood life.
Yeah, it is kinda weird sometimes, Tarek 😅
Like seriously, CJ literally solo'd Area 69, THE Area 51 of the GTA universe, stormed in, killed every trained soldier in his path and stole a top secret weapon.
And you're telling me he can't just do the same on the Los Santos police station and get Sweet out himself.
GTA is just a collection of hilariously inconsistent games, and I say that makes it 10x entertaining.
Been waiting for a new video now its here I've been learning more n more bout San Andreas

In Phnom Penh' 86, Lance says that he always liked Quinten Vance as his name. To this, Tommy replies, "Vance? Your name is Lance Vance?" To which Lance replies, "Hey I have had enough of that at school". Please make a video on why Lance Vance was so insecure about his name :) I mean Lance Vance is not a bad name. So why was he bullied in school for his name (only if he went to a school XD).
If you think that the video length would be too short, then you can make a video explaining Lance Vance's character in which you tell it as a point that why was Lance always insecure of his name.
Imagine if, instead of Aditya, your name was "Mandy". "Mandy Pandey". What you felt inside just then? That's how Lance felt.
@@Raphie009 Bro, Lance is also his real name and that is also a good name. I mean obviously if the name was bad or had some weird meaning, then there could have been a thing that he disliked the name.
Since Lance is a good and actually cool name, I am curious to know why he did not like his name and why was he bullied for his name at school.

That's some nice observation man
The theme music for gta San Andreas is just as good as the game itself
That's why we need GTA San Andreas Stories which will focus on the events way before the introduction of GTA San Andreas. Like, how the main characters met the corrupt police like Tenpenny, was he already a corrupt police when he joined the force? Like telling us what is happening to the whole San Andreas state way before especially in Los Santos. My pick protagonist will be Sweet. I want to cover his backstory and how does he became the leader of the Grove Street Family. I want to redeem his character because we all know that he is useless in GTA SA.
Which game is OG vice city or san andreas
We would say both 🤘
Imo Tenpenny is very similar to Alonzo Harris from Training Day
4:34 - The minimum age (with exceptions, but not applicable here) in which someone can be held responsible for crimes they commit is 14 years old under California Penal Code §26. And from what I can find, that was the case in the 1980s as well. Since San Andreas is modeled after California, with Los Santos being modeled after Los Angeles, we can reasonably surmise that to be the case here. So CJ would've been high school age when meeting Tenpenny.
When it comes to bein a juvenile nowadays you can be charged as an adult for certain things there’s juveniles who got life and are in prison on separate pods. They doin they bid they whole life over one thing. Let’s not get started on how prisons are businesses too that profit off of people getting locked up here in the U.S. It’s just sad.
Yeah, it is shocking 😦
Yeah though it may sometimes depend on the state laws.. people as young as 13 get charged as adults if the laws allows it
Polaski admits he was the one who wanted to kill CJ but TenPenny kept finding reasons to keep CJ around and the fact CJ kills Polaski is just karma paying Polaski back for all his past deeds but hey i could be wrong on the later part

Prisons, jails, juvies, and the whole education system doesn’t truly benefit society. The whole “correctional facility” system is just a business the more people go in and go back, the more money they make. The education system is similar. The more you show up and get good grades the more money they make. They not focused on the quality yet alone making you do better in life. The U.S. needs atleast a reform in the education system.

One little wrinkle: I don't think Tenpenny fully intended to kill CJ. He intended to kill CJ...or Pulaski.
CJ was making moves, becoming more established and dangerous, and Tenpenny had to know he had friends in high places.
Pulaski was the only one who had hard proof of Tenpenny's illegal activities, and Tenpenny was getting paranoid. It wouldn't have been hard to get Pulaski to testify for a decent deal.
He knew either CJ or Pulaski would kill the other, then he'd deal with whoever lived.

He and Sweet were probably in and out as a kid, or at least Tenpenny kept picking them up on the street.
