Love the Blaque Diamond wheels as much as I do? You can check them out here: blaquediamond.com/hp-obsessed. What are YOUR thoughts on the Blaque Diamond wheels? 🤔
Those are nice wheels, I went with AL13 wheels and did a 20 & 21 inch, roughly $28,300.00 for the wheels & tires. What a difference…. Next level stuff
I just picked up my C8, they had these brand wheels.. with 20 in the front and 22 in the back and it looks amazing!!!
Agreed. The C8 looks massively better with slightly larger wheels.
Good day Justin; just yesterday, a friend and I were having a conversation regarding Corvettes, and I mentioned to him, how amazing your C8 looks with those wheels; take care, and keep the awesome content coming.
That's awesome, I appreciate it! Always nice to hear something like this!
60 degrees, fresh cool air with no humidity, no bugs, no sweating, with blue skies and gorgeous autumn foliage...that to me is the definition of a beautiful day! Love this time of year!
Well said! Unfortunately, it's really starting to look like winter here now... 😢
Great video! You do so much for your subscribers. I wish I could do what you have done with your C8. Still waiting for my 2021 and will have what ever it is delivered with. I'll still be happy with it. Your wheels do look much better in the sun.
Thank you. I appreciate that! You're going to love the car!
They look terrific and the car performs flawlessly on them.
Thanks man! I'm definitely loving them!
Thanks for sharing all the nitty gritty details on the package as I wasn't sure what to go with to ensure proper fitment! They look amazing!! Hoping to add the exact setup to mine by spring/summer next year 🤞
You're very welcome! It's one of the best looking setups around in my opinion!
Justin, appreciate the video, thanks. Looks like a nice cool sunny day in PA along with the fall foliage. Homeward bound soon. Thanks again for all your advice. Blue skies, Jg
Thanks, John! It's definitely changing seasons here! Safe travels, my friend!
Hello...
They are now offering "in this wheel" a (19" x 9.5") Front Wheel...
Do you have any insights on them?
Thank You Sir...
I was going to get the 19" front wheel when it was available. I see no reasons not to do it.
@@HorsePowerObsessed
I'm just hoping it will fit as well as yours does...
With 1" less room to clear the control arms; and .5" more width to get to them?
Thanks.....
@@HorsePowerObsessed
Also...
I'm planning on using (285/30/19) Michelin's, to maintain using "ZP" Tires...
Wheels look amazing!! And it’s always a great day in PA!! 👍
Thanks, man! It's starting to get a little cold in PA, though... 😕
@@HorsePowerObsessed plenty of time for a few C5 mods to be done out your way! 👍
@@padriven Lets do it!
Thanks for doing this. Crazy how many people don’t know what they put on their car.
Agreed.
What size tires did you put on the wheels? Obviously, you can't use the stock 19 in front...
I covered it in the video, but the fronts are 245/30/20.
They look gr8, thanks for all the details😁
Thank you!!!
Are the lighter then the stock 64 lbs wheel and tire?
Your car would look even more amazing with the black side skirts. Love your videos!
Those may be coming soon... 🤫
Great Vlog. 1/25/2022. My C8 build week is to be February 7. I went with the “Standard Wheel” for the 2022 HTC.
I didn’t like the limited selection of wheels offered for the build.
This will really help when I look for aftermarket rims and tires.
I like the look/stance of your C8!
I saw the ZR1 in a video at Blackout Tinting. It looks amazing!!!
The 2019 would be great to have as a ZO6 or as a ZR1.
If I wasn’t getting the C8 soon, I’d like to be a buyer of one of the aforementioned.
Thank you. These wheels definitely compliment the C8 a lot more so than the stock setup.
You can still fit a 305 width tire on the rear correct? They just stretch a bit but still fit
I’m ordering these wheels in Silver finish just don’t personally like black wheels silver shows them off more
The 315 is already a good bit of a stretch. 305 will probably look awkward. I should realistically go with a 325.
Hmm, what track performance problems or enhancements does going with a larger front wheel present? What ride qualities suffer or are improved?. These are serious questions when talking about sports cars.
The front wheel being bigger means the sidewall must be smaller. This obviously aids in handling but means the ride quality will be slightly stiffer. I haven't noticed the ride being stiffer but the steering seems more direct.
What you are saying about positive and negative offset is incorrect. The negative offset will make the wheel protrude out the front way more. If anyone has any questions reach out and we’d be more than happy to explain and show you on our c8
Yup. I said it backwards but the rules still apply when you flip them around. 👍👍
What do you mean flip them around 😂😂😂? You cannot mount them backwards
Seriously? You have to know what I meant…
How long did you spend looking at wheels before you bought those btw..
They are probably the best set of wheels we've seen on a C8
Thanks! I looked for about 2 months before finding the set!
Darn great informative video. You have so much helpful advice to share with your subscribers. Kingston Corvette Invasion
Thanks! That's exactly why I started this channel. There's a lot of questions out there and I was hoping to help bring some answers.
Those look awesome! Wheels really take the C8 to the next level.
Thanks! I really think the same thing!
After seeing yours I'm ordering them. Thanks.
Sounds awesome! You're going to love them!
The wheels look great, they give the car the SuperCar look. a game-changer for the C8 Corvette!
Couldn't agree more!
Very detail once I received mine I get a lot of question as well about the wheels . They are very nice for the c8
Agreed!
Can you fit a 325 tire on the 20x12 rim
You could but it's going to be a little too much. Might rub. 315 is the max I'd do.
@@HorsePowerObsessed ok thanks you are the corvette master
I appreciate it!
The wheels have a beautiful design
Thanks! I think they really fit the car and its exotic appearance.
with the new wheels have you noticed any difference in driving handling and or gas mileage?
for me i prefer the brushed silver look... but the black matches your car perfectly!
I've noticed slightly better handling but nothing drastic.
What percent is your tint?? And are you or have u lowered it
20%. Not lowered yet!
Great video! Very informative! I’m a believer lol
Thank you!!
Here is a set of larger wheels. Less weight. ua-cam.com/video/o33Fp55M4iQ/v-deo.html
I saw those, not crazy on the design but I do like the look of a 21/20 setup.
Why didn't you go with a 325 on the rear and 255 on the front?
255 will rub unless you tuck the wheel inside the fender and I want it to be flush.
You said unless you tuck them inside, would that be with using the same stock offset? Also are using Michelin run flats, I can't find 245/30/20 only a 255/30/20, trying to maintain the run flats and Michelins all the way around.
New wheels are hella nice! When you plan on doing the subscriber meetup? You talked briefly about it at Carlisle.
I'd love to do it now but my partner in crime might not be available (Matty). We may have to do it without him! I'll keep you updated.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Sounds good, you gonna bring the C8 or the batmobile?
Not sure. Depends on when this happens. Getting cold quick here!
Hey Justin,,,,,,How wide are the rear rims on the ZR1 ?
Awesome video, Brother !
Can`t wait to see the Big "Wang" on the back of the C8,,,,,,either way, it still looks GREAT !
Thank you! The wheels on the ZR1 are also 12" wide.
The F25! 🙌🏾
🤘😎🤘
all the c8 corvette is missing is the c8 high wing just to finish the car
It may or may not be getting delivered sometime next week. 🤫
@@HorsePowerObsessed okay sounds good
C7 carbon is designing a race wing. It looks pretty cool. May be out by years end
What about the understeer does this do anything for that.
Not really, no but it isn't something you're going to notice on the street anyway.
Can we use the existing tyres with the new wheel. My car will not have Z51 packages. If No, then what will the size of the tyres?
In this case, no. The front wheels are 20" and the rears are also 20". 245/30/20 in the front and 315/30/20 in the rear.
Black Diamond copied Vossen rims
Once again you have produced an entertaining C8 content vlog that is packed with information. As time goes by, there is development and that sometimes leads to a change of information and recommendations. This Oct 19 episode should hold up became of the solid numbers we are dealing with. On, "another channel," there was information about how to dress up and protect the C8 radiators. I followed through and purchased the kits and there was no material or instructions inside. Additionally, I found the openings, upon close examination, to be too large to protect the radiators and thus the screens are for show only and offer no protection. I researched and found out that Eikorn Motorsports in Arizona is working on a package that not only "dolls the car up," but protects those valuable radiators as well. The is put here solely as an example. Right away, I love the look of these aftermarket rims. You are pretty deep into the video and haven't mentioned how they are made or what the materials are used to make them. Are they forged, for example? Thanks. AF
Thanks, man! At 2:03 I talk about the name of the wheels and show on the screen that they are flow forged. Oddly enough I have a video coming up showing some radiator protection but I have 2 different brands that sent me their grills. I have the one you are referring to and noted limited protection myself but the other brand does things a little differently. I'm going to leave it up to the viewers as to which one is "better"
I like the wheels and I'm picky. You have it backwards, positive offset tucks the wheel into the car. Its easy to remember because the hub in the middle of the rim width is 0 offset. If the hub (the outside rim moves opposite) moves toward the outer rim, thats a positive offset, because the hub is whats being offset.
A 12" wide wheel with a +45mm offset doesn't make much sense unless the wheel options are limited, or you want a 335 tire on a narrow car. The 12" rim width pushes the outer rim way out, the +45mm offset pulls it back in 1.8" plus removes the deep dish look. In general, big negative offsets with a larger wheel width produce the deepest dish. It looks like your front tires are a bit stretched to fit the width of those rims. It seems like 315/245 R/F would understeer quite significantly on a 50/50 car, a 61/39 car could be touchy. Be careful til you feel it out.
I knew positive offset pulls the wheel into the wheel well and when I said it in the video I put it backwards for some reason. I appreciate you bringing this up because I forgot to fix it in post.
The 315/245 wheel setup wouldn't understeer much more (if any) than the stock 305/245 setup. The wheel is an inch wider in the rear but other than that it's the same as far as width is concerned with the stock setup.
@@HorsePowerObsessed
If you assume tire contact patch is the same length regardless of wheel diameter (it's not, a larger wheel has a little larger patch) then friction is proportional axle weight times tire width.
Your 50/50 ZR1 has a curb weight of 3600lbs or 3800lbs with driver. So 285mmx1900lb=542K friction on the front and 637K on the rear, or a 46/54 F/R friction distribution. That gives you some OEM protection against the rear end departing first in a corner, or mild understeer. Thats where manufacturers like to live. With a mild understeer to neutral car, the driver can snap the wheel on turn-in to produce a dynamically neutral stance, or even induce mild oversteer.
Your 39/61 C8 is 3900lbs w/driver or
245x1540lb=377K front, and 315x2409=759K rear, so your friction distro in a corner is 33/67 or twice as much grip in the rear, which will create severe understeer while corning regardless of driver input.
The reason 50/50 friction is best is because the centripetal force pulls on a more balanced load. Imagine a table being lifted by a rope attached to the center. If you distribute weight evenly on both sides of that table, the rope can lift more weight before the table goes unstable. But the delicate balance means either side of "the table" could dump first, so it takes skill and feel as you corner.
A max capability track setup would come from 50/50 friction using a minor tire stagger, like the Top Gear hated 52/48 F/R V8 F-Type with an OEM 265/295 stagger for a neutral 49.6/50.4 F/R OEM track setup out of the box. Thats viewed as way too hard to handle for an average Joe like Clarkson.
Now that BD F-25's are available in 21" do you know what kind of tire you would use to get the same flush fitment with your same 20" on the front that you have here? It looks so clean and just took delivery on my torch red that i'm researching like crazy to buy some aftermarket wheels.
What lug nuts did you go with? I don't think the bulky GM ones will work.
The GM ones will not work. I got mine from here: amzn.to/39tiy6I
I am have an exsistential crises deciding on the wheels. I like the blaque diamond wheels but I am curious as to why you did not go with the 20 /21 setup? I know you went with the 20/20. So you had to purchase additional tires for the front?
20/21 doesn't exist for this particular wheel, unfortunately. I've found the 20/20 setup to be pretty nice, though.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Ok, but have you seen the 20/21 setup? It fills up the gaps in the wheel wells pretty nicely. I was curious as to how a 20/21 would effect the handling of the vehicle would you who about that? Also does Blaque Diamond series have alternative 20/21 options?
great video! where can I buy the tires?
Tirerack is one of the best prices I've found.
What spoiler can be added to my C7 without a bunch of holes?
Did you have to get an alignment or no since there so close to what the car recognizes?
No alignment necessary but it's never a bad idea to have one anyway since Chevy is pretty good at not sending the car with a good alignment.

What is the offset measurement for front and rear wheels ?
+35 front and +45 rear. I showed the info in the video.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I'm sorry. I meant to ask what is the backspacing measurements for front and rear wheels ?
I see that they offer 20x11 in that wheel which is the stock dimensions for the rear. Just wondering why you didn't go 20x11 with your spec? And can the stock front tires (245) really not be used for a 20x9 front wheel setup? I was thinking of going 20x9 fronts and 20x11 rears with the same offsets, using the stock wheels. Thanks for the video, was actually inquiring about these this weekend. I'm stuck between these and their BD18 wheels. If I would need new tires to run the BD25's, I may opt for the BD18's (still a very nice wheel) as they offer a stock 19/20 set up already
The stock tires for the front can't work because the stock front wheel is a 19" not a 20" like this setup. I went with a 12" rear for a more concave look and a little more tire contact patch for slightly better traction.
You can also go with 325/25/20 in the rear, which I think looks a little better. That's what the guy @ PL Luxury did on his C8 with the same wheels.
Yes you can but then the tire sticks out a touch too far in my opinion. That's why I didn't do that.
@@HorsePowerObsessed He lowered his C8 on KW coilovers and no issues, the tire tucks in. It looks to be right at the edge but still works beautifully and looks awesome. I just think a 325/25 fits better on a 20x12 wheel especially on a mid-engine supercar, but not a huge difference...Either setup works.
Yeah I saw. I'm happier with my setup for sure but to each their own 👍👍
@@HorsePowerObsessed Your car is stock ride height, right? For stock ride height, I think your larger sidewall is probably the better choice. Lowered I think the 325/25 works better, and looks amazing, but yeah to each their own.
That's true. After I lower mine I may feel differently. We shall see!
Nice. Are you able to lower or not?
Yes I can. I have the parts to do so, just waiting on the weather to agree.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I can understand that... Interested in knowing how it can be done with my front lift option. Have you gone over that?
Not yet but it's only slightly more involved than without the front end lift.
Why not 275’s in the front? I ran 275/30R19 front and 305/30R19 rear on my 08 C6 which was perfect on 19x9.5 and 20x11 respectively. Could have run 325/25R20 in rear but the profile is lower than I like
Anything over 245 in the front with this offset will rub, unfortunately.
Don’t forget when changing wheels you need about $60 a wheel for tire pressure sensors.
I bought all four for $83 👍👍
I'm looking at a 2015 zo6 manual, can you please tell me if you had any over heating issues with your z06,i will not be tracking it but should i wait for the 2017?Could you shed some light and also did you have the comp seats and are they comfortable, thank you in advance!
Is your car lowered in this video, including the shots at the end of the video?
No it is not. It will be soon, though.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Cool, I hope you do a video on the lowering. I think the Z51 cars can be lowered as they come from the factory 1" both front and rear, right?
I will do a video. The Z51 can be lowered but the front end lift cars like the one I own is slightly more complicated.
They look great. As if anything you’ve done hasn’t. :)
That said, at the risk of sounding pedantic, something to be aware of is the fact wheels, tires and brakes are unsprung weight and therefore lighter is better. Hence, smaller diameter wheels are lighter than larger diameter wheels of the same make/model, etc. And the same is true for tires.
And by reducing unsprung weight it aids acceleration and handling, especially with performance tires. And due to the law of inertia, the unsprung weight of a wheel requires approximately 3X the power to accelerate vs a stationary dead weight.
For example, by decreasing wheel weight by 15 pounds per wheel, you effectively remove approximately 180 pounds, which is a huge load off the drivetrain and chassis and will make the vehicle feel more responsive and accelerate noticeably quicker than it did before switching to lighter wheels.
Lighter wheels also rebound from bumps faster and therefore have more grip and more constant grip when driving on imperfect roads. Said another way: lighter wheels have less inertia, and hence the suspension reacts faster to bumps which means the wheels will remain in contact with the road better.
Furthermore, the lower the unsprung weight, the less work the shocks and springs have to do in order to keep the tires in contact with the road over bumpy surfaces. In fact many problems, if not all, are the result of inertia. And more weight means more inertia. And greater inertia means more work for the shocks and springs in order to keep the tires on the ground. And unsprung components with a greater mass are harder to accelerate/decelerate and thus it’s more difficult for the suspension to maintain a consistent tire load on the road.
As always: simplicity is a complicated thing. It’s easier to design something that’s too heavy. And more difficult to design something that does the same job and is significantly lighter.
Why thank you! That is one thing I forgot to touch on in this video is the massive amount of weight these wheels saved. I did talk about it in the original installation video, though.
4 x 15 is 60, how do you get 180 effective?
@@ST-bk5uf Wheels are a rotating mass and their inertia is determined by their mass. And lighter wheels, having less mass, have less inertia which 'in effect' means they act as if they weigh less.
The inertia of an object being the resistance offered by the object to a change in its motion or position. And inertia is directly proportional to the mass of the object or to the velocity if the object is in motion.
Thus heavier wheels have more inertia than lighter wheels with the difference in inertia being expressed in pounds in this case.
How is that? Because mass (expressed as weight) is a measurable quantity, whereas inertia is a concept used to describe how hard it is to change the current state of a mass. So for example, heavier wheels have more mass and therefore more inertia when rotating. It also means they require more power to start them rolling. Thus, in effect, their mass means they act as though they weigh more than simply their scale weight.
By the way, Thanks for having some rock music playing...the majority, to nearly almost all, of most videos on the net, always have some rap crap or this new music that sounds like chipmunks...just thought I'd comment, because it is nice to hear, Thanks Again😁
I appreciate that. I'm a rock guy and while not everyone appreciates it I'm glad some do!
Man, Black Diamond missing out on A LOT by not offering those in 21s, I feel that would be the most perfect fitment and layout for the car.
We may never know. I do however know that the 20/20 setup is pretty awesome itself!
Getting famous off of comments day 147, so I can live the dream, live life to the fullest🚀🚀🚀
Interesting! 🤔
Must be just me, but black wheels just look like another car with black wheels and most often you can’t see any details on most of them until you get closer 🤷🏽♂️ But good info...
Thanks! This is exactly why having options is good. I love black wheels some don't and for those who don't other colors are available!

Postive (+) offset means more tucked/sunken in, negative (-) offset means more poked out.
Note the stock offsets:
19x8.5 +52 5x120 245/35R19 Front
20x11 +64 5x120 305/30R20 Rear
66.9mm center bore
Clears 14mm studs
The following aftermarket wheels fit more flush. Note offsets are smaller than stock aka take stock offsets and add a NEGATIVE value. Example: stock +52mm offset + (-12mm) = +40 aftermarket offset (more negative than stock).
BBS CI-R
:
2203 19x9 5x120 +44mm (14.35mm poke)
0801 20x11.5 5x120 +52mm (18.35mm poke)
MRR Wheels recommendation (stock diameter/widths): +40F, +50R
BC Racing recommendation:
Stock height: +35F, +50R
Lowered: +32-30F, +45-43R
My
personal preference:
+36F, +48R (stock height)
+32F, +44R (lowered Z51)
Offset can be more negative on lowered cars due to negative camber naturally added from lowering (it tucks the wheel in more, creating more margin for more negatively offset wheels).
What is your opinion on the width of the front tires on the 20x9 wheels? Justin stayed with the stock width of 245. Why not go with a 255 or 265 width? Is it possible to use a 20x10 wheel on the front and adjust the offset?
It is not possible to go with a bigger tire. Not without rubbing at least.
Are you going to lower your car?
Yes I am. I have the tools to do it now. Should be any day at this point.
I know you will but do a video. Thx
Absolutely!
Say "Catch Can" yeah they look nice on your Vette but I have a question. I'm so excited Chevrolet has Come full circle to midengine Sports Player but what burns me most the Exotic Hype we are losing the American Identity after the exotic comparable. I disdain that we are going there. We're not exotic we're American Muscle 💪Performance Engineering. I don't like these wheels on our Vette's. I like the original five prong wheels from the 50's, 60's, 70's even the 80's. but Porsché, Ferrari, Lamborghini, exotics are not who American Western is or was. Don't get me wrong.

LOL, I will say though it's surprising that the way you are (obsessed) you didn't clean them before filming . I know you like your stuff clean!
I almost did, but it ended up raining pretty much right after I was done filming this so it didn't make sense to do it. They are clean now though 😁
Ahh yes beautiful PA, if you don’t like the weather just wait a couple of hours...
Lol exactly!
