Many of us feel that sense of pride looking back on (and being part of) this path that the girls have taken. It's pretty cool to see that fans that focus on the choreography have the same feeling.
Oh, this is from the Wowow stream of the world premiere live peformance at Makuhari Messe in January. I was at this show. Just like on the album, they played this right after Metal Kingdom; I think the two songs are intended to be played together, with MK acting as the build up, and DA serving as the payoff. Worth nothing that when this was filmed, Momoko was still Avenger. The fact that there was going to be a new member was only announced at the end of the second night of this set of shows. It wasn't until Fox Day on April 1st that Momoko officially became Momometal.
I will just disregard those comments "Babymetal is not metal" by nobody. The fact is they rock harder and sell more albums and tickets than those online critics.
Now you get it!!...That Proud Auntie and Uncle Feeling!! For those of us that have been on this journey for many years, we know that feeling Very Well!! We have watched Our Girls grow in every respect over the years and that is something that has been missing in music for quite some time...that 'Deep' progression of an act. But there is also that whole "Vine" mentality, if they are not something that is utterly astounding to people right out of the box, they are dropped like a hot potato and people (and record labels) move onto the next thing. Most groups never recover from that. Babymetal Fans did not let that Happen! Because we knew Our Girls were something Special even when soooo many others (talking about all your Elitist converts out there..LoL!!) called them a 'gimmick' or dismissed them as 'Bubblegum-metal' and could not see beyond their prejudices. And that is Why there are so many converts. That Proud Uncle or Aunt feeling will Always get you in the End!! LoL!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Nice one - as you've been told already, for the first time Su-metal has writing credits for the lyrics on this song. When she heard the demo it reminded her of 'Road of Resistance' and she really liked it and said she wanted to write the lyrics - and that is exactly what happened.🦊
Babymetal have been performing for over a decade and obviously started as pre teens so the dance has to have changed now they are in their 20s. When Moa and Yui were eleven the dances had to be relatively simple. I think Moa was a bit self conscious of her dancing ability and so has worked very hard on that and now the dancing can be a bit more complicated to take advantage of that. BM are great at producing emotion in the audience and have these epic themes that might be cheesy from anyone else, but BM perform with such conviction that it always works.
@@cuttysark8017 that doesn’t mean she was self conscious about it top athletes want to always improve also as does anyone who cares about their jobs. Moa is one of the least self conscious Japanese I have ever seen, she is always completely at ease in front of a camera and literally puts herself in front of tens of thousands of people on a regular basis. I would love to have half of her confidence
UA-cam is hella late with this notification and recommendation. I didn't even know you made this video 3 days ago. Amazing reaction as always, love you.
I love you’re reactions… I know music really well and I love this band! I appreciate the dancing very much and love to learn about this aspect of the band! 🤘
There are a few songs of Babymetal's previous discography that I don't see on your channel if you want to go into the past for reactions without just repeating songs you've done. Though I don't think anyone would complain if you did go back and revisit them. The Fox Festival 2017 and Budokan 2021 (usually uploaded by For The Fox God and who?) are good compilations for a large part of them. You mentioned how in this song Babymetal sounds metal and you'd use them as an example of what metal is. I think I'd agree with you. A lot of people would claim Babymetal isn't Metal. But if that is the case I'd like to ask why? Because they don't Growl? Well neither do bands like After Forever, Epica, Nightwish, DragonForce, and many other bands. Sure all those bands I listed DO have points in their songs where they DO have growls, but the vast majority of the time there aren't any growls, and with that being said, Babymetal ALSO has growls in some songs. What's the next reason? Because the main vocalist is female maybe? So what? Again, I can throw a dozen metal bands that have a female vocalist. Some with amazing Growls (Jinger comes to mind), some without the growls, Nightwish for instance. Next reason? Oh because they dance? This is true, they dance in their performance, but so what? Does that really detract from the music being "metal"? They sound poppy. Yes, at times they do. But then Rage Against the Machine at times sounds like just Rap, but they're still pretty much considered metal. The other excuse I've heard is people saying metal is about letting your anger out. It must be BRUTAL and DARK. That being said, I've always thought that Opeth never really sounded brutal or dark, but at times they also sounded like happy metal. Maybe not as happy as Babymetal, but still happy. I've come to have more respect for these 4 ladies (I'm saying 4 because I'm going to include Yui since she was a part of the journey and therefore deserves just as much credit as the current members) than most other bands out there. They created their own niche of metal, they had to fight the backlash of stuck-up metal gate-keepers, and they never ONCE let it affect how they felt about what they were doing. They neve ONCE shied away from showing the world what they're made of! Even at the age of 14/12 when they first were starting out and had to perform for the first time in front of an audience they pushed through and did their thing. There would have been NO way I would have had the courage to do that when I was their age. I'll be completely honest about that right now. To me, them just doing that ALONE is pretty damn metal.
I wondered after this song why they used to be accused of not being metal. I think the kami band is what makes the sound metal but most metal heads don’t appreciate the combination of cute/dance/dubstep in some songs. If I could liken them to a raw metal group I would say within temptation or Nightwish as you say. They both have clean voices just like Su. I love your comment, I totally agree!
@@xiaouiris So I've been thinking on this a bit more and I think I may have thought of something. I'm willing to bet that a good portion of these metalheads that hate Babymetal don't actually hate them. I'm willing to make a bet that subconsciously they were actually starting to like the music, but were ... mortified?? I don't know if that is the proper word, of that, and so therefore stopped listening to them and started slamming them and saying all the things they typically say. They were trying to convince themselves of that as well. Because metal is supposed to be about anger and blood and battles and war and all that kind of thing. It shouldn't make you happy and smile. It shouldn't be cute. So they wouldn't LET themselves like it because it would be challenging their idea of what Metal SHOULD be. Just a possibility, but it's something I kind of thought of while taking the dogs out for their last walk before I go to bed lol On another note, I know you like reacting to Babymetal and analyzing the Choreo, but I'd also recommend you consider checking out Monochrome The First Take Piano Version. It's just Su and Moa and there isn't any dancing, but it's a bit of a different take on Monochrome and it's on The First Take which is a UA-cam channel that invites singers to sing a song or two. But they ONLY get 1 shot to record the song, so any mistakes will be recorded and the song gets posted online as is. Anyhow, I know you said Su's voice has the power to make you emotional, so obviously, like us, you love her voice and for that reason alone I think you'll like this version a lot.
This is why your reaction videos are must watch. I've always been curious about BABYMETAL's dancing choreography and it's great to see your analysis. Especially your comments about how they deliberately go off beat here. Also, I hope you can do a reaction to one of their earlier videos too with Yui to see if they do the same thing there (maybe Ijime Dame Zettaii). And Momoko was definitely the right choice as the new member.
Thank you Xiaouiris for another great reaction! I also feel like they've come a long way in their artistry. The way they embody the songs have changed quite a lot. If I remember correctly, in June they'll broadcast the concerts they had in April. There you will find a lot of (potential) new material to react, such as the choreography for Time Wave, MAYA, Mirror Mirror and METALIZM. Although, the last 2 already have official videos but it's really hard to pay attention to specific details because there's a lot going on with the editing. I would love if you could react to the new choreography of Metal Kingdom. The problem is they've only performed it in the Europe shows, so the only way to check it out is: 1. Being there 2. Watching a video recording with questionable quality (some look *kinda* decent) P.s: I'm also loving the Atarashii Gakko content!
Over the last few days I have seen fancam footage of their song "MAYA". And every time Su's dancing catches my attention. I feel a little bad saying this, but I think it looks even better than Moa's and Momoko's. Her choreography is a little different from theirs, though, so maybe it's just that. I thought you might be interested in seeing one of them, it's pretty close-up: ua-cam.com/video/EmQSQiq7IrQ/v-deo.html Edit: For some reason I had written "Metalizm", but the song is called "MAYA".
I already know why, she gets movement breaks when she focuses on singing which makes the other 2 appear less focused and agile when they move, when she rejoins the dance with more energy then they have. I’ll check this out though

The entirety of the the other one album is a lot more j Metal than kawaii Metal that’s probably why you feel you would recommend divine attack to some one looking for metal music it’s a lot less niche. I forget which interview it was but Moa said there was a change in the choreography. She said the new maturity and style was influenced by the character concept behind each song of the album not necessarily because they are older.
This is the first song that Su has writing credits on. She wrote the lyrics. 🤘🦊🤘
