I love what you said about a wedding! I haven’t come across anyone else who thinks this way. My husband and I got married without anyone present. 7 yrs later, people still pass judgment about how we wanted to start *our* marriage & we still hear 💩 about how we didn’t let anyone else experience our intimate moment. We’ve never regretted it! 🎉 good on you & Matt for starting off your marriage how *you* want it.
My stepdad is my Dad as well. I unfortunately lost my Dad to suicide a few years back. Miss him so much! Kudos to the stepdads who stepped up to the plate 👏🏻
I’m so proud of you for taking a mental health break and listening to yourself 🥰 thank you for the chitchat! Excited to see more this year!
❤️❤️❤️
Girl yes weddings aren’t for everyone. So excited for your elopement! My husband and I originally invited just parents to our courthouse ceremony until we realized we’d be focusing on drama more than the moment as we have poor relationships with 3 out of 4. We definitely made the right choice for us with solo ceremony, privately reading vows in the garden outside afterward, and a reception with family the following day. It was perfect for us and that’s all that matters to those who truly love us :)
I appreciate you being so transparent with your struggles and how you take care of yourself now to heal from these past struggles. You motivate me to treat myself better and be more driven but adaptable with my goals!
❤️❤️❤️
the hair, the mug, the vibes- yep this is gonna be a good one.
I appreciate you 🥹🫶🏻
I totally get you on the wedding feeling like a “show” viewpoint. Too much stress and not enough time to spend with friends and family because bride and groom are so busy and making sure everyone else is having a good time on their special day. A more private intimate wedding/elopement feels much more special to some of us and is a vow kept between husband and wife it’s about the marriage itself in the end right?? Thanks for sharing with us I hope your channel continues to keep growing ❤❤
Exactly! I'm sure there are people out there who had the best day of your life when they got married, but so many people I know, say it just felt like making sure everyone else was having a good day, and that seems to defeat the purpose to me!
my husband and i eloped last january with absolutely no family or friends present, and then had a larger party months later. It was genuinely the greatest thing we could have ever done. The money went to a dream trip (we stayed in a nicer place than we usually do, treated ourselves, got our dream flowers and photographer, and didn’t have to share it with ANYONE). I also felt weird about having family around so we were so strict with the boundary of keeping it just us, and it was the most enjoyable experience! The photos turned out AMAZING because you get a few hours of photos of just the two of you (we had a photographer for our larger party and tbh i hated the photos compared to our elopement 😂). I’m so pro elopement after doing it ourselves!! So happy for you and Matt and I know you’ll have the greatest experience ❤
I literally found your channel last week, so this “catch up / about me” is so perfect
Omg welcome to our little corner of the internet 🥹🫶🏻
I did full time college and almost full time work with a lot of drama in my life at the same time, and I say the more power to you for recognizing that you need a break and doing it at your own pace. There is no glory in overworking yourself and not getting the most out of everything in your life that is important to you.
I did the same with undergrad. I worked fulltime and did school fulltime and my threrapist at the time told me "there's no medal for overworking yourself" and that always stuck with me.
thank you for speaking about school Carter, I feel you! It's so true abt all the judgement around when and why you do things when it comes to school but it's truly being content at where you are now and doing what's best to get to the next day feeling happy! Hope you're having a great start to the year and so happy for your elopement💍❤
I totally agree! I think anyone who wants to pursue further education, no matter if it's full-time or part-time or even just one course is amazing!
Ugh such perfect timing I was sitting down with my morning coffee and journal looking for a UA-cam video to chill and listen to!!
Enjoy!! 🥰
I’m typically a silent subscriber but I just wanted to say that I admire your ability to recognize when something isn’t for you and when you need to take a break. I went to grad school in 2019 and graduated in 2020. I had breakdown after breakdown. Depressive episodes left and right. My body hasn’t recovered from the stress and I’m still dealing with burnout which has further impacted my mental health. I don’t care what other people say. There’s great power in that awareness and I believe it will only benefit you in the long run. Thank you for sharing your truth. I can’t imagine it’s always easy but I appreciate it and I don’t feel so alone.
This means so much, thank you for taking the time to write out this kind comment💕
@@CarterSullivan of course! ☺️💕 you’ve shown me a great example that I hope to follow.
I’m so happy that you’re bringing the book content back! You’re the reason I’m reading again and the reason I went down the book tube rabbit hole. Thank you Carter 💕
the book content has never left my channel! I've just been having fun incorporating it into every day vlogs with the occasional Book video and that's kind of my plan going forward still🥰
@@CarterSullivan I just meant you had less book content during your slump. I love that you’ve been talking about books again. Even though your channel isn’t a book one, you’re the OG book girlie for me, but I still love all of your content and never miss a video! Can’t wait to see you hit 100k! 🫶🏾
Nice update. I have been on UA-cam since 2021 and just hit 51 subscribers! I know it's not 95K but it feels like I am finally finding my community. I also got engaged in 2023 and we are planning a very small wedding (45) guests. I did grad school and work full time and it was so hard. If I could have taken a break I would have but I really wanted to leave the career I was in ASAP, which I did :) I just moved from Orlando to Chicago and the winter is an ADJUSTMENT for me. I've been working on creating and following a good evening routine to help me stay healthy during these cold months. Haha now you have update on my life :)
Honestly, I love that You shared the update about your life. It makes me feel like I know you!! ❤️
Honestly a great year to move to Chicago - this is one of the mildest winters we’ve had since I’ve lived here (6 yrs). This week, make sure you’re staying safe! Sometimes out of state people don’t realize how dangerous the bitter cold is - try to stay inside and if you have to leave, make sure you cover every inch of your body possible and are outside for as little time as possible!!
@@kathrync.144 thanks for the advice. This is a huge change for a Florida girl!
Would love to see content about how you plan your week/days! I struggle with getting overwhelmed with all my to-do’s and balancing it with cleaning, relaxing, working out, time with friends, etc!
I have a whole video on how I organize my weeks! But also keep in mind I am an introvert who makes 0 social plans and my workouts are working the dogs for hours on end 😂
My heart is full when you upload 🥰perfect timing because the kiddos just went for their nap. Can you please link your candle warmer? Everytime I see it in your vids I want one more and more LOL
It's from Amazon! I can give you the link, but it will only work if you're in Canada☺️ but if you look up candle warmer, there's a few different types in this one should pop up pretty easy!!
@@CarterSullivan I’m in Canada Ontario 🥰thank you so much!!
love the catch up, so excited for Carter’s 2024 content ❤
I appreciate your support so much🥹❤️
So happy for you and where your currently at in your life…congrats on almost going to get married!❤
this was such an enjoyable update video! I love your about me's even though I think I know most of the basic FAQ stuff because I always learn more 😊 I also just love hearing you talk about life! I like hearing your perspectives (especially when they're different than mine!) and admire how you live your life true to yourself and share it with us too, which I think takes a lot of vulnerability. excited for alllll the videos in 2024 xoxo
This is so kind, thank you for this comment🥹❤️🫶🏻
I love what you’re doing! You and Matt are beautiful and get that this is such a private intimate moment ❤ looking forward to the new year with everyone here! 🎉
Thank you so much!! I appreciate the support so much and can't wait to share this year with all of you ❤️
Also, I totally agree on the whole wedding thing. We got married in the officiants living room with 2 witnesses, than afterwards we did a small catered lunch with our parents and siblings only. It was 10 people. It was perfect. I think the whole thing is a show tbh as well haha but that’s just us!
i love your content! So excited for what 2024 holds for everyone!!
Love your videos Carter! Here for all the cozy content coming up! Thank you for being honest and sharing about your school experience. I did do grad school full-time plus part-time job and I do not recommend it, especially during the pandemic it was so difficult, so you are making such a good decision for yourself by taking a break!❣
loved this catch up sister ❤ can't wait to see what this year holds for you!!!! see you at my wedding 🥂
Can't wait!💕💕
I’ve been watching you for a while, and I love that I still get to continue to learn fun facts about you! Never knew you were a horse girlie!! Love it
What’s crazy is that I’ve been subscribed to you for 3 years! Thanks for sharing your life with us ❤
Love this style of video! We did an elopement micro style wedding with the rents and siblings. Our grandparents are no longer with us. The next day we relaxed and partied on a pontoon boat at the lake. No reception. We did have a medium sized cake, but just for my husband and I. Worth it!
Love this video!! I got my wedding dress on Poshmark, highly recommend looking there! There are a lot of beautiful dresses on there for wayyyyy less
I do love that idea! However, I have a very awkward body type (midsize, large chest, no butt & 5'11) and so I would rather buy it from a store that allows me to order in multiple sizes and return it if need be like Lulu's since I'm not even sure what style I want yet!
@@CarterSullivan ah yes, that does make things a bit more difficult haha!
Breaks are needed at times. I know myself I couldn’t handle full time work and full time school. Unless maybe it’s less involved classes and a job that I could make my own schedule.
Me and my fiancé are getting eloped in June of this year 🫶🏼 taking a trip to TN and having OUR day 💗. congratulations to you and matt🫶🏼
So sorry people are mean about school. We are all so different. I was always surprised how you fit in so many classes when you have so much else going on. I’m in full time grad school and it’s all I can handle. And that’s ok.
I will say that because my courses are asynchronous like I don't have lectures it is easier to manage them with my busy schedule! But I did my first semester taking two courses and it was way too much for me so I've just been taking one course of semester which is a good work load!!
Can you possibly share on your data analytics experience? I also graduated with a BSc in psychology and am interested in learning more about this field as a potential for future work! After graduating I decided that psych wasn't necessarily where my passion lies so looking into different employable options! Love your videos feels like facetime w/ a friend! Thanks so much for sharing on your experience w/ school and all the different jobs🥰
So I actually as a data administrator on a data analysis team so I don't have any direct data analysis experience aside from some courses I took in school!
Are we going to get a full video of you using your book scanner? I would literally watch hours of footage of you just scanning all your books lol
Not a full video on it, but I will be including some clips on how to use it in my building/organizing the home library part two video!!
We eloped, and the only thing I would change was going even more casual 😂 seriously the biggest no brainer financially and emotionally
And don't get me wrong if a wedding is with a couple once I'm all for one's gonna make them happy but financially, it just didn't seem like the right move for us!
Take all the time you need for school. I went back to school to finish my bachleaors in my 30s. I worked a full time job and tired to take 2 classes a semester, and that just didn't work and dropped it down to one a semester. It took me a few years, but I still ended up with my degree. I was taking summer classes, but has to take a break too. It's a lot. School is too much for me to jungle, that I know that I will not continue and get my master.
I am from Bosnia, and I love your content ❤❤
Me and my husband eloped in Colorado. “Self-solemnizing” is legal so we had no witnesses or officiant, just us and the photographer. We got a marriage license at the local courthouse. I ordered my dress off Etsy for $300 and bought real flowers on Etsy too.
Love that for you! I always wanted to have a friend there to also be able to capture some content for us so we're happy to have witnesses, but I totally understand people that don't want to🥰
My husband and I eloped this past December for the same reasons you stated! A wedding - as lovely as they are - feels like a performance and is not "us"! Originally we thought to have a party this upcoming May for family/friends, but we ultimately decided that we don't even want that either! People can judge all they want, but at the end of the day we're married and happy!
Edit: I also got my dress from Lulu's!
I love this!!
For your wedding plans- I WISH I did that. I canceled my wedding (we booked Turks and Caicos before my mom passed) and did a micro type wedding and went on a honeymoon cruise instead. I wish I did something more private for my wedding bc you’re right, it is so personal and I wish I had that with my husband.
My fiancé and I decided to just do a tiny ceremony with just me, him, my sister and dad and his mother and maybe his brother and ofc the minister and photographer. We don’t want any one else there because we want it to be very intimate. We initially wanted to do a full wedding with 15 people but I was getting stressed about that and we are on a tight budget so this is perfect. It’s like getting married in a courthouse but we are doing it at a beach instead and having a small get together the following day. So ceremony one day and get together the next day.
I got married in 2020 & I never wanted a wedding but my husband did so we did a 30 person & under wedding. I honestly hated the whole day, was wearing a white dress I got from asos for like 20 dollars. But I was glad to have my dad walk me down the aisle and get to decorate the space with my friends. But yeah I wish we hadn’t had the wedding.
Best way. Do what suits yous. I eloped to Santorini and had a dinner with 40 guests when we got home. Best decision
Exactly! Easier said than done sometimes with all the backlash/pressure from others to go the more traditional route however
@@CarterSullivan people are always going to have an opinion, even if you had a home wedding, they critique everything. Do what feels right for you and Matt. The ones who love you will support you and understand your decision
I've been married for 13 years, and if I were to do it all over again I'd have spent the money on an amazing vacation and elopement. I felt so exposed having this private moment with my husband in front of everyone. Plus it was so expensive and stressful to plan.
Self care is important!
My bio dad isn't in my life anymore and I love my step dad but I just call him dad. There are so many things you talked about that I also connected with so thank you love this video so much!
I just got engaged and am planning something very similar! Got my dress on Revolve for $260 - they have so many affordable beautiful white dresses FYI!
💖💖💖
I’m eloping as well in a different country! Do you think it’s odd if we legalize it here with a super simple ceremony here with just immediate family and then go elope to do the whole walking down the aisle and private vows? We want our parents and siblings to see us get married.
No do whatever you want!!
Re 'wedding' being more expensive. I had a bridesmaid dress that was really just a dress that needed altering (legit I still wear it 7 years later) and they wanted £50 for alterations. Took it elsewhere and paid £20. (The dress itself was £35)
💛💛💛💛💛
Im in nb so if you want food/scenic suggestions ill gladly give you options :)
My husband and I got married in our apartment with just our parents, siblings, and their spouses. Spent less than $1,000 USD and bought our 1920 bungalow instead! 3 years later no regrets and still working on making our house ours! Weddings are not for everyone so go with your gut!
Honestly, I love that for you!
❤❤❤
I have a black mouth cur. Dna tests dont include black mouth cur. Most of her dna was mixed breed/other. Also i work as a vet tech for 13 years and have seen many dna tests and never seen a black mouth cur on any dna test. They're more fun than informative from what I've seen in the clinic setting.
Thank you so much for sharing this information! Very insightful and informative🫶🏻
#chattyvlogsforthewin
Congratulations!! I’m sure eloping will be the best thing you’ve ever done. Planning my own wedding right now (my fiancé is the boujee one 😂🫶) but I’ve wanted to elope from the start.
❤❤❤
