  • Join Jason Lanier as he meets his longtime critic Ken Wheeler the Angry Photographer at Murphy's Camera in Lexington, Kentucky! PLEASE THUMBS UP, SHARE, LEAVE A COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE!
    This is the first time Jason and Ken have met after years of talking about each other online. In this meeting that occurred in Ken's hometown of Lexington, the two discuss many topics including:
    *Sony mirrorless
    *Overheating
    *Review of the Sony A9
    *Jason being bought off by Sony
    *Sony G Master lenses
    *And just talking good old photography
    This is something that Jason asked Ken to do so they could bury the hatchet and provide an example to the industry of putting differences aside and finding common ground.
    We hope you enjoy it and make sure to stay on the lookout for the shoot they do together. It is gonna be special.
    Thanks!
    Jason Lanier Photography

      What we saw in this video was two individuals who passionately hold different opinions, derived from their experiences, coming together and through civil conversation were able to come to the point of "achieving disagreement". They realized they didn't have to agree on everything. This is different from when we hear that "we'll just have to agree to disagree", often a means of simply dismissing the other person and their passionately held viewpoint.
      "Achieving disagreement" involves listening carefully. It requires effort, and can, at times, even be a bit uncomfortable.
      The first payoff of this approach is the realization that these men can share the path in their community, in their state and in their country.
      And the second payoff is the realization that having the ability to share the path in their community is more important than being right!
      What a refreshing concept. Bravo, guys.

    Ken is a really nice guy off camera. He has spent 45 minutes with me on the phone twice talking about lenses as I was building my collection. Love him or hate him, he is very knowledgeable about Nikon cameras and glass.

    • @LMActionsports
      @LMActionsports 5 років тому

      Keith Davis I highly value Ken’s opinion on Nikon glass. I came across his videos by searching best Nikon lenses and I started my collection with his recommendations. That tokina 100 mm F2.8 is phenomenal, the Nikon 35-70mm f2.8D is the cats meow and I am so glad that I watch those videosHe goes both ways on best lenses for budget or expensive lenses and I appreciate that he did that. Yeah I know he don’t like some peoples opinions but whom I to say that he should respect other peoples opinions. But my collection of glass has been greatly Improve based on his recommendations.

      I will say Jason gets out there and shoots all the time and actually shows his work unlike Ken...... Ken has a lot of knowledge on the technical side of cameras but he's definitely not a photographer. I love how he always says he has been outside shooting all day or shooting for hours and hours...I'm thinking what the hell are you shooting all day and never comes back with any pictures to show unless it's a raw file and he says he's just testing a lens or camera in that case....He is not doing any serious shooting with it or paid work.....I think he's scared to show a final image he took since he's not a photographer and just knows the technical aspects of it.....

    I watch the AP because he knows what he is talking about regards cameras and lenses, I discovered JL through watching AP so thank you for that AP, there is a lot of haters here and that is sad. Both these guys have their own opinions and if I am buying a piece of equipment I take account of their views but in the end I decide what is best for me and my budget. If you guys don't like these guys then don't watch them. I think it was good that these guys could sit down together and discuss or disagree like sensible adults, it is only photography and equipment and people should remember that.
    Well done you guys hope you share information/ views and opinions more often.

    Jason, you've made a good point about overheating. In that1cameraguy's video he was using the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 adapted through MC-11. That combination is probably consuming more power than all the native lenses and hence the overheat.

    Ken had a fair bit of 'the bully that gets confronted' look about him, where he was quite apologetic and said he'd been misunderstood all along. However, it's pretty easy to get on a roll and have a rant when you're sitting in your home all alone and just going off to a camera, especially when you have people pretty much expecting that from you. I've only seen a few of Kens videos, but he always seemed quite knowledgable, and seems to be willing to admit where he's wrong. Good to see this happening though, nice work guys. Both of you.

    Ken the guy who constantly says he's out shooting all day but has no pictures to show you....The guy who has no money but just purchased a 14 acre farm and of course he says he sold a 1/3 of his possessions to purchase the farm.......In reality I'm sure his rich friend either purchased it for him or he has a lot more money than he lets on.

      Ken is very knowledgeable and tries to help people by giving them facts about different photography equipment......I don't believe he shoots as much as he did in the past but at one time he had several clients he would shoot for.....I'm still shooting with an old D700 and D800 thanks to Ken's recommendation years ago and both going strong.

    Ken got played by Jason. Jason's whole demeanor was arrogant, this video morphed into a Sony commercial, and Ken didn't even notice.

    • @spkendrick
      @spkendrick 6 років тому

      i dont think ken got played... he was confronted about his opinion and honestly the beef between them seemed to be largely based on sony, so i think they both got their point across... Jason wanted to defend his name and integrity about being a sony sell out....... and i think ken wanted to clear the air about how he really felt about certain things and put his comments in proper perspective.

The 6d is awesome I'm low light for weddings and the 5d mark iv is too. But I hate to go back only because I do video too. Help! Lol I was really hoping the A9 was the answer. #prayingtothesonygods
