A couple left their parents screaming with joy after bringing home their premature baby who spent 50 days in the NICU and leaving him on their doorsteps to capture their reactions. Ines [pron: E-nes] and Sandro Lavalle’s son Gianni [pron: Jah-nee] was born six weeks prematurely and therefore faced developmental challenges with his breathing and swallowing. So, for his grandparents - Sandro’s parents Renato and Bernardina and Ines’ parents Gianni and Marianna - it was an anxious wait over when they would be able to bring home their new grandchild. During 50 days in the NICU Gianni also had bradycardia spells - periods when he would stop breathing or his heart rate dropped - with docs telling the family he needed to have one week with no bradycardia spells in order to be allowed home. Ines revealed many times Gianni he would fight up to three, then four and five days with no bradycardia spells, but would then have a spell and they’d have to start the clock over again. Gianni was born June 1 2018 and finally discharged from the NICU on July 21 2018 - total of 50 days - and since they’d stopped reporting his spells to his grandparents the couple decided to surprise them and their respective homes in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After knocking on the door to get their attention, the couple leave Gianni on their doorsteps before stepping back to record their tear-jerking reactions. And it was a double surprise for granddad Gianni as he discovered his first grandchild was also to be named after him.

I love how sweet the grandfather's are calling their wives.
like "Honey come check this shit out" 😅😂
Look what the ups guy left for us!
Is a tipical Italian grandfather call 😂
As a 40 year old with no children yet, and parents who are pushing 70, I sure hope I can gift them with a grandchild. Love these reactions!
yes you can!
God bless your soul ...you will have your own babies Amen
Yea in 40 too and do not have children. Always wanted children though
@nwanosikesandra946 without being heartless they're pretty easy to make
Grandma with the curlers in her hair is so sweet and lovely.
i have a precious picture of catching my mama outside her senior citizen retirement apartment front door in her curlers and before she had put her dentures in for the day.. we had driven 5 hrs to visit her and daddy… we lost them both to bad hearts within a couple years after that, 8 months apart.. so thankful for our visits, pictures and videos… after God, family is everything to us ❤️
My mother used to wear curlers like that. I miss her
I love that the grand pa out his phone away. 😭 enjoying the moment
Yes! And you can see how much she's itching to just open the buckle and scoop up the baby:)
Man, I would have paid anything to see a reaction like that from my late father when my wife was pregnant. He died one year before I met her and sometimes I saw my father's smile in my son. Congrats to the beautiful family
As an NICU nurse, this really makes me happy. It's a great feeling when you can help little angels survive 💖💖 I've taken care of such babies and the smiles of parents are priceless while they go home ☺
What does NICU stand for? sorry I don’t know but I loved the video so much xx
In Ireland we refer to nurses as angles.
You’re amazing!!!!
@@lindalewis2166 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit😊
Yeah, sure. These babies have a right to live 🙄
With such lovely grandparents, no doubt the child will grow up pampered with great love and care. I would love to be that baby. 🤗🤗🤗
Me to:)
Pampered? The child is going to be spoiled! And well deserved, I think. The best of luck to the entire family.
Italian grandparents on both sides. This child is going to eat like a KING!
@@sew1835 nothing wrong with being pampered and spoiled. As long as the kid knows humility so it won't turn into a brat
@@RinDewmelon Indeed!
And…..guess who his nurse was. :). Just saying. Little Gianni was a trooper! That’s why I love being an NICU nurse. Wonderful success stories.
You were our angel on earth! Made the whole process so much easier! Thank you so much Nurse Birgit! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was a preemie as well. Born at 2lbs. Went down to 1 lbs, 11 ounces. It is just a story for me. My parents lived through it. I was born nearly 49 years ago in a small hospital before NICU. Had to be resuscitated at birth, but survived without deficits. 🙂
Hey, I am the proud dad of three sons!… My youngest, 31 years old, just got married four weeks ago… Kids are the best for our lives!!
Both grandmas went straight for touching the baby ❤️🥰 the grandpas are both like LOOK AT THE BABY!! Love the reactions haha
So cute! I bet that's one spoiled little man! ❤️💙😅

Your grands are so lucky to have you!
imagine how heartwarming that kid can feel when seeing this video after grown up
Aww be so lovely to watch wouldn't it x
This is so sweet. Reading some comments I realized that a lot of folks are missing having kids and grandkids. Please remember that so many kids are in need of loving parents and grandparents. If you have love and the ability, you can change a human being's entire life while fulfilling your own want you be a family.✌
❤️🥰❤️ yes they are where are you from
Nothing better than seeing that grand baby for the the first time. Instant love for me. Spoil them, it's now part of your job. Haha

The Love of a grandma is just stunning to me. Nothing else like it in this world.
I miss both of mine so much!
Babies always puts a smile on everybody’s faces
Except on the plane
So happy little Gianni is healthy and home with his family.
I ended up in the hospital 10 weeks before my Christmas time due date. My daughter, Autumn, was born in mid-October 2 weeks later at 3lb 9oz. She'll be 20 next month. NICU staff were our angels.
Praise God !!! Wow!!! Pamela in Detroit
Did you call your daughter autumn after the season she was born?
@@lienbijs1205 we actually chose her name because it's both my and her father's favorite season. It just happened she was born in October. Ironically, while pregnant, I had two different women (both strangers) question me as to why we'd want to name her Autumn when she wasn't due until Christmas time 😆
I am sorry you don't know me I was browsing through my suggestion list when I came across your eye catching profile and thought of knowing more about you,I hope you are not mad?
They truly are.

Oh how wonderful! What a beautiful baby. God bless him always. Much happiness to you.
My last baby was 5 weeks early, spent 30 days in NICU, with a defective heart valve. She’s now 38, married with two teenagers and is a dentist.
Beautiful!! My preemie is 27 this year. Miracle babies!
My thanks to the people who work in NICU and I bless all the NICU babies and their families! I wish you all a great life together with your family!
Blessed are all NICU staffers. My boy was born at 31 weeks, weing in at 2.060kgs. 14 days under your care he came home. Today he is 13 years old at 87 kgs. May God Bless ever parent with a primmy.
My heart goes to every baby that didn't get the warm welcome and love from their families.
So sweet, my nephew was born at 27 weeks here in Nigeria. Nicu was a different journey for all of us. So many things happened but the day he went home four months after his arrival, so tiny. Everyone was on ground to escort him and we couldn't yet touch him because they had to wait a while for his first set of immunization shots. Only his mom could carry him. He had to go back for another month for a surgery. The first day i carried him after his shots was a teary one because i held him just after his birth as we raced to another hospital in another town to the NICU facility there. So i held him again more than 4 months after his day of birth. He is a miracle and his 4th birthday is this Sunday. Every time we look at him, we say thank You Lord for sparing his life and his mom even though his twin sister didn't make it. We would have lost all three due to the complications of an emergency CS and placenta dislocation of his twin sister immediately my sister was opened up. God saved us all. We are still grateful. Big shout out to every NICU warrior and all supermoms of premiees. I was his proxy mom for a week and i had first hand experience while my sister was recovering.
Happy birthday to your miracle nephew for this Sunday Chioma 🙌 And echo your comment regarding all NICU warriors and supermoms, and to the families - like you - who were there to help when needed most ❤️
@@HappilyOfficial Thank you so much.
Great to hear Chioma! And also for this baby coming home. I once walked for my country in a foreign land serving the Marine Corps, I was young and thought that it was a tough time but that was yet to come. Years back I spent 3 mos in NICU with my 24 weeker, docs saying he wouldn't walk, talk, see nor know who we were. After all the bradychardia and vital stem plus so much more, my son can do it all and yes we are truly blessed given the odds. I thank God everyday and Im so proud and so grateful of it all. I consider myself a NICU veteran now because it was the hardest thing Ive ever had to endure by far, nothing exhausts a mind and body like the worry for your child, nothing. The NICu times were tough but it was all so very worth it and it changed me forever. I saw kids leave this earth, saw many with debilitating diseases. So when I even start to think times are tough, I am quickly reminded and brought back to reality veey quickly. I have had it easy, those kids are the real warriors here.
God bless 🙏🏻
Anytime there is a grandma or grandpa, they are always just so happy and overjoyed at the sight of a baby.
That’s so crazy! My best friend’s son Gianni was a preemie! They have the same name. He was 3lbs 8oz and lived in the NICU the first few months of his life. He’s 10 now super healthy and no developmental issues. Thank God
The mom in curlers is priceless! It makes me miss my grandparents!
His grandparents welcomed him into this beautiful wold with sooooo much apparent love! 🥰
I want so despiritely a grandchild, but my children don't want to....!! These grandparents are so lucky!
What about adoption? 🙂 seems like you have love yet to give and plenty of kids of all ages are in desperate need of that love!

What a lovely reaction from the first Grandparents. They will babysit anytime, I guess. The second, her in her curlers no matter grandchild most important.
Gorgeous little guy. Sounds very similar to our own first child. Born 7-8 weeks early, 2 months in special care due to breathing problems. He is now a happy and healthy almost 11 year old :D
So fantastic! -from a NICU doc. That little one was born in very hard times for the nation, he clearly has a loving family. I'm so blessed to see this.

This video is so precious!! These parents are so blessed to have this little one and I'm sure they know this too!! NICU's are unreal in all that they do in saving babies!! My ex sister- in- law had twins years ago at 26 weeks and they were in the NICU for a week until they passed. I was amazed at what they did for all the babies there. Until you experience it in person, you can't begin to know what all they do for these precious babies. These Dr's and nurses are amazing people to work in a field that doesn't always have the best outcome. It takes some very special people to work in this area of the medical profession. My nephew was a NICU baby and again I saw firsthand what all goes on to save these babies and to help get them better. My nephew will be 13 in August and is healthy as can be. He is an outstanding soccer player and you would never know he was a preemie!! Thanking those NICU Dr's and nurses who helped save my precious nephew!!! God is so good!!
Sweet little Baby.

My daughter was in the NICU for eight hours after she was born because she had difficulty breathing. The scariest eight hours of my life, it felt like the Titanic iceberg was in my stomach. But after eight hours she got a clean bill of health and will be 11 on the 17th! God bless NICU nurses, they could blow up a bus full of nuns and still get in to heaven.
I’m a nurse who was married to an former NICU nurse. Nothing I’ve seen or done comes close to the miraculous things that I saw her and her colleagues do and taking care of those little angels.
Oh how beautiful pure love God bless you and your family!
We can totally relate. Our grandson was born 11 weeks premi and spent 55 days in the NICU, luckily we were able to go and hold him in the hospital. Best feeling ever when they get to come home. So thankful for NICU doctors and Nurses.
