I fully agree with you, I born in philippines, and the sister of my mom they complaining coz they feel tha my grandfather love their grandchildren more than them, they jealous sometimes.
I reckon it is true, most likely because Grandkids give Grandparents a new breathe of life, and gives them all their parenting memories back without the whole "actually bringing up the child" aspect.
This is true for my friends and family. A good friend’s mother hater her daughter-in-law but she was so affectionate and loving to her grandson . 🤣🤣🤣
