- Highly agile, fearsome combat helicopters were one of the symbols of the Vietnam War. American Cobras and Hueys left such an imprint on the world that the USSR kickstarted the development of their legendary “flying tank”, the Mi-24. The US themselves were quick to build on the experience gained in Vietnam by developing a new attack helicopter. The new aircraft had to be superior to the Cobra in every possible way, and fit to carry out the most complex missions. It had to be able to operate during adverse weather conditions, at night or day… be fitted with two engines for better survivability… and have a max speed of around 270 kph. It would also have the maneuverability for terrain following, NOE or nap-of-the-earth flying.

Gaijin's argument was that giving the Ah-64 the fire-and-forget missile would be way too over-kill, because AH-64 can carry 16 of them unlike the Tiger that can only carry 8 without cannon. So in order to balance it, they decided to let AH-64 to carry the old Hellfire.

@@Tamburahk giving it the new hellfires will not balance the Ka 50/52. Other things that counter it (SPAA, Aircraft) will. Giving it them will just make the ground RB experience worse overall.

Yep flares can actually do slight damage to objects, it just gaijin once again screws up damage models.

They need to change the helmets cause the pilots are not wearing the right helmets for the apache. The helmet they need is the (IHADSS)

This is kind of misleading, the helicopter experience in War Thunder is nothing short of a disaster. Your maps are too small for the helicopters, AA vehicles will snipe a chopper as it takes off, or vice versa, a chopper can ruin the game for tanks who are just leaving spawn. You are always visible to the enemy as a dot, which eliminates any sort of logical game play for the helicopters. Helicopters in War Thunder are absolute disasters, that is coming from someone that was actually looking forward to playing them. Sorry not worth playing till they are fixed and not just the machines themselves but the maps and the objectives. Helicopters in this game aren't designed to be played in a calm tactical way, similar to a somewhat real life situation, they are mean to be spawned and you are to SPAM as many ATGMs and rockets and then get shown down in 30 seconds. War Thunder helicopter experience is like a kill streak reward experience in Call of Duty. So yes this video is MISLEADING.

The Hellfire missle's minimum engagement range is 545 yards and can fire all the way out to 6.8 miles. the game has such a small map that its nearly impossible to dodge that round. be glad its not like the bradley where you can shoot over an IV line and kill a target behind it. Next: Gaijin will introduce player controlled dismounts with AT-4 Spigot missle , AT-5 Spandrel, AT-14 Kornet missle, Javelines, and RPG-7's....(keep in mind that the AT-5 is equivalent to the American TOW missle).

I got so mad when I first started practicing with with the helios. Eventually, after playing around with the control setup ( & adding a keyboard ) will you be able to appreciate the mechanics of these bad boys 🤗
I remember seeing an AH-64D buzz our flight school as he was flying the pattern. I had heard him on the VHF radio talking to us Civvies saying where he was but my god once I got out of the 172 I had no trouble at all telling where he was...kinda makes me wish the heli sounds in WT were a bit more accurate. The AH-64D has a very low and loud rumble when it's flying low.

I would love to see the UH-60 series, it would help add some more beefy helis to the japanese tree and the US would get a number of them (including a possible stealth variant), I feel like these should be sidegrades to the apaches, the apaches would have superior agility, speed, and cannons, while the UH-60 would have heavier suspended armament and be tougher.

theyd still break the game, just hide between hills so youre safe from radar and missles, peek and fire a missle, you dont have to keep lasing so you can duck back behind cover
@@frankbradley4487 yeah but the 114Ls only need a small sliver of it's target to lock on and it can immediately duck back into cover after firing off it's hellfires, way before any SAM even reaches it.
Yeah, I like those models that were in Iraq around 2006. They were great help for us on ground!
One thing is to see them on monitor, but to see them in real action, is a bit different experience. :)

Helicopter cost so much while being so low rewarding, very few want to grind them. will there be bigger reward for helicopter, or maybe a percentage of the battle reward (like 20-30%) of the mixed battle given to helicopter grind regardless for helicopter eficiency in the battle?

6:00 - Yep, the Indian Air Force's AH-64E(I) model - love that grey color scheme.
The variants that stuck to me are the "a" and "d". I associate those to my small-scale "a" model in dessert camo (tires and main rotor turned by battery-powered motor, complete with lights); and a much smaller, miniature-scale "d" model also in dessert camo.
Top tier light/scout vehicles should be given targeting later that work together with the Apache to mark targets

Instead of nerfing the accuracy you could decrease how many it can carry and increase the SP cost
gaijin nerfs anything they add to the u.s tech tree they just nerfed the apaches maneuverability and engine power tooo, they did the same thing to the AH-1Z

AH 64E. Newest and badass Apache.
It has sensor fusion technology.. the pilot can take command of A drone and can fire that drone on the designated target. Also u can take control of Ugv on the ground.
Also It can act as a Communication relay medium for battlefield troops.
The Ah-64Ds were angels on our shoulders in Afghanistan

Oh I love the Peten. Its so cool all of Israeli used equipment. They are a serious military force with vastly different type of structure. I just love how they adapt everything to their needs. Peten is also just so beautiful with thoes 2 very distinct cammos!
Fun Fact: 4 Royal Marines were strapped on the both sides of the cockpit as a quick response to rescue an another Royal Marine who got left behind.
They managed to rescue him and strapped him hanging under the Apache itself airlifting him back to base but Unfortunately, this wounded Royal Marine succumbed to his wounds died shortly after.
This was during the Global War on Terror, Afghan War.

Also don't forget the Apache was a descendant of the earlier designs: the ah-56 Cheyenne made by Lockheed, and Sikorsky s-67 Blackhawk (the og Blackhawk) the Cheyenne competed and won out against.

@@MythicPi possibly would, But the tiger uht kind of already does. What could be implemented is the missiles that are fire and forget but not with the upgraded radar, so you can’t hide behind mountains. But jets that instantly kill you when you spawn is basically the balancer in my opinion.
@@SparklinWiggles803 the apache has 2x more missiles, the missiles have more range, more pen, and more speed, and the UHT's are IR guided, not radar. The apache is also MUCH stronger vs jets than the UHT ever was or will be

Funny they say since it had twin engine it had better survivability but in game one engine lost means not enough power to get back to base and crashes unlike the havoc in game which can fly for miles on end before going back for repairs with one engine

Nice video, and it looks great when you fly it in War Thunder but a pretty sub-par helicopter in-game. Mostly hurt by the way the Hellfire is modeled - comparatively slow with a long top-attack flight path, inaccurate, and requiring you to maintain unobstructed line of sight until it lands - which is not great in a game where it is very easy to pick out treetop level helicopters with SAM vehicles. No choice for direct-attack mode to speed up the time to impact or avoid random twigs throwing off the guidance, no inertial guidance to hit stationary targets if you need to duck behind a hill to safety, no RADAR guided longbow variant to compete with the fire-and-forget PARS-3 or the super fast and deadly Vikhr and Ataka. You're going to be hanging in SAM city for a good long time to land those hits and assuming a bush or tree trunk didn't cause them to miss you're likely going to need to hit things 2-3 times to knock out the entire crew or actually set off the ammo due to the comparatively poor fragmentation in the behind-armor effect. It's also unique among the top tier helicopters in needing to choose between either missile warning and countermeasure pods or AAMs - which is odd given half the variants in the game have these features integrated into the fuselage IRL.

The mig23 would be the only thing that would be decent to add the F14 would completely shred everything with the current status of top tier air rb. The maps are way to small for pheonixes, the Br system needs to be raised, we would need a plane that could actually counter the f14 considering it can out turn a mig21 and the 23s turn is dogshit, and other things like adding previous aircraft like a proper naval F4 or jet bombers like the thud or f111.
Imagine if gaijin changed the max RP cost for modifications on the Su-9 to 69,420 instead of 69,400.

I bought the peten and it just gets destroyed by the overpowered russian Ka-50 premium. They destroy every other helicopter as well. It was the worst purchase i have made and dont spend money on war thunder anymore because of it.

The hellfire is so badly implemented that for the video it has had to launch more than 4 to the SPAA in case one failed as it usually happens in games.

gaijin, historical accurate the AH64D Longbow should carrying the AGM 114 L.
The AGM-114L is a variant designed specifically for use on the AH-64 Apache/Apache Longbow attack helicopter. It uses a millimeter wave (MMW) radar seeker. The L variant has an effective range of 0.5 to 8 km.
so my question why you dont add the specific hellfire missile for the AH64 D?

When will guys fix the apache radar a/a mode? can't select targets or lock em after this last update. ( switching it back and forth doesn't work) and will you make it to freely rotate like the compass? ( right side North/South west/east)?

I have the Peten, but by looks alone, the DJP is amazing, sure is my favorite in War Thunder.

As far as I now, it's cammo only. Irl, it was made in Japan by Fuji Heavy Industries, but in game they are pretty much the same.
Love the Apache, and love it in this game. It feels great!
The AH-64D is kinda pointless w/o AGM-114L's however, especially against the Ka-50 and 52s. The Eurocopter got fire and forget radar guided atgms, why can't the Apache? If the problem is the Apache getting 16 of them, then just only allow loadouts with 8 Lima's with rocket pods, or 8 other Kilo variants. That'd keep balance between the top tier helos in terms of armament numbers. In tandem with this, the hellfires should be able to select between top attack and direct attack, which would make their slower flight time and range not be exacerbated by the top attack flight trajectory when fighting other helos.
People are always crying but forget about the ka 50 10km missile that has proximity fuse and you can't run from it. but apache having the agm 114L is a sin. (insert their hypocrisy here)

the Mk 1 was made to be faster than the other versions. However I like the longbow due to its capabilities of multitargeting and long standoff range when it comes to target engagements. The Japanese have always been 1 step ahead of the U.S. in terms of technology. It shows in their vehicles.
