Uhoh...now you gone and done it! I and my fellow Pentaholics love nothing more than to watch someone new discover the joy that is PTX and will arrive in droves to do so. Just an FYI for ya, Pentatonix are the OGs and the GOATs of the accapela world with 3 Grammy awards, multiple multi-platinum albums and roughly 3/4 of a billion views on UA-cam (rough estimate...lol). I hope you have a blast exploring their amazing work and I and my fellow Pentaholics will be right there with you to enjoy the ride! 😁
The Five Faces of New Pentaholics 1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah, and doing Aha! at the Star Vista. 2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, and Mad World. 3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions. 4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine and most especially Thank You. 5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.
I am a pentaholic. Loved this reaction! You are gonna have soooo much fun with this rabbit hole known as Pentatonix. Must see Daft Punk Melody, Bohemian Rhapsody, Love again, Come along, Wizard of ahhs, but fist let me suggest a timely Making Christmas! Pentatonix is the group that won the sing off season 3 (2010), and set a new bar for acapella groups! They are also the GOAT of cover songs. Thanks for this great reaction! 😁😁😎
Loved your reaction. Mitch’s high tenor is a wonder. Kirstin has done Broadway. Scott is a beast with a bass to tenor range. Matt is a terrific as the bass and had big shoes to fill when he stepped in when the original bass Avi left. Kevin is a top notch beatboxer, tenor, and cello player. Recommend their Amazing Grace.
As a recovering pentaholic who spent much of his youth overseas in various camps, this was a breath of fresh air. You had me and my nana rolling on the floor laughing! Happy new year coming up if I’m unable to reach a computer until 2022. Many blessings your way…
I love your facial reactions. Cracked up when you went cross-eyed. Their cover of Hallelujah isn't so much fun as it is beautiful. Definitely worth a listen.
Oh, it is a happy rabbit hole you will uncover. Pentatonix fans are actually one of the nicer groups to go into. My usual favorite recommendation for their more dance friendly is Come Along. As its nearing Christmas, My Favorite Things is also good and melodramatic.
I can tell ya had fun with this one! I liked the cross eyed chair sink move there in the middle. Made me laugh LOL. It's crazy to hear them use auto tune as an effect when so many people use it for voice correction. Great video! Keep 'em coming!
I'm so happy that you're back! And it looks as though you are feeling pretty good, in good spirits. I have to say, you are such an inspiration, and a positive role model for those going through what you've been. What a beautiful priceless smile you have! I can't help but to smile every time you do. P.s. I recommended your channel to a whole bunch of friends and family. Keep that positive vibe flowing jamee!🙏
They performed this live at the holywood Bowl/ It's even better. JUst go down their lise, you won't be disappointed. They sing eveything from gospel to rap. Each singer has a crazy range and their beatboxer is a genius. Some Suggestions " any of their Christmas m usic, They Prayer ,Amazing Grace and Hallelujah!
Any song you choose from Pentatonix is great. This is my first time seeing you react, so I'm not sure what type of music you like. Their evolution videos ( Music, Beyonce, Rhianna, Arianna Grande, and Michael Jackson)are fantastic. This was just a taste of what they can do.
They can indeed sing everything. Here's a range of styles Hallelujah, Daftpunk medley, Evolution of Rihanna, Run to You (an original) and Can't Hold Us.
They've also been on Sesame Street, rapped in several covers, including the aforementioned Can't Hold Us and Problem. My favorites are the evolution of songs. Michael Jackson, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, and of course Rihanna.
I'm both a Pentahalic and a cruisaholic so seeing them with your background was amazing! Fun reaction! They do great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody and Hallelujah, evolution songs where they mash together song from their favorite singers like Michael Jackson and also lots of amazing originals like Midnight in Tokyo.
Holy cow, this takes me back! I remember jamming out to a lot of these... love the looks on your face with each of these! I feel the same way. Thanks for reacting to this! Enjoyed the ride on the way back machine!
Hi. Im Pentaholic and love to watch you discover their genius I suggest you play some of their Christmas music. Their cover of o come all ye faithful is unmatched and their new one “ the prayer” is breathtaking. More PTX please.
I think Kirstin enjoyed those curls as much as we all did! She looked gorgeous. Mitch has an amazing upper range and has always been a keen mimic of random noises - these electronic sounds are right up his alley. Sounds like upbeat might be what you need right now, so: Evolution of Michael Jackson, Can't Hold Us, Daft Punk medley, Sing, Rather Be, Can't Sleep Love (all featuring the original PTX bass, Avi Kaplan); Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Come Along, Havana, Attention (featuring the current bass, Matt Sallee) ... oh, and then ALL the Christmas music.
Hi Jamee! Glad you've now had your first PTX 'experience'! LOL I would agree with some of the other comments as to other videos of theirs, especially if it's something done live - although they blow your mind regardless! FYI - the members are : Scott (the one with the glasses in this medley), Kirsten (the lovely lady mezzo), Mitch (the incredible counter-tenor), Kevin (beatboxer extraordinaire, multi-instrumentalist - check out their cover of 'Shallow' where he plays his cello - while beatboxing at the same time!, and not forgetting Matt, the bass and most recent member, replacing Avi, the original bass from the Sing-Off days. Of the main acapella groups, I would say that PTX are the more 'pop-oriented/covers' group, Voiceplay are more theatrical in their presentation, Home Free more country-oriented - and then there is Voctave! So - one more for you to 'discover'..! 😁

Welcome to the new world of a capella. Pentatonix and Home Free have rewritten the book on a capella worldwide. All of the suggestions for more songs to listen to are great. Pentatonix has 3 Grammys, one for their "Daft Punk Medley", one for their" Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies", and one for basically being Dolly Parton's backup band(?) on "Jolene". Also, try "Imagine" (John Lennon), "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen), "Sound of Silence" (Simon & Garfunkle), "Mad World" (Tears for Fears) and of course, any of their Christmas music. For Home Free may I recommend their "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Will the Circle be Unbroken" (Johnny Cash), and my favorite, "Helplessly Hoping" (Crosby, Stills & Nash) (and then a quarantined Italian Youth Choir's cover of Home Free's arrangement).
@@jameejams2229 No, you were fine❣️That’s what this group does to you. You just get so caught up in them. Please react to their cover of Can You Feel the Love Tonight from the Lion King. I think you will find it a feast for the eyes and ears❣️Subscribed to hear/watch you react to it❣️
You must check out , their cover of the very classy "Havana," and their brilliant mash-up of "New Rules/Are You That Somebody." And their spooky "Making Christmas" is brilliant and hilarious and don't miss "My Favorite Things." You're welcome.

Long-time PTX fan here! Great, great reaction! Glad you found them! Might I suggest you give a listen to their cover's of: Hallelujah, Imagine, Sound of Silence, Where Are U Now, Can't Help Falling in Love or Daft Punk. You won't be disappointed!! :)
This is a side-by-side video of the songs. You need to have earphones on this one as you will hear Pentatonix on one ear and the original artist with the original title in the other ear. I'm sure you'll hear how close PTX is to the original. Of course, you will notice one song in particular that they used auto-tune for and that was only to pay homage to the singer who did it first in her video, the famous Cher. Hope you enjoy it! ua-cam.com/video/y6WOzZixJpc/v-deo.html
Nice reaction matey they literally have over 100 songs you can react to of them , not including Superfruit or there individual solos and other collabs , all the medleys they do are great , Daft Punk is my fave then Rihanna , I like their originals Love Again , Cant Sleep Love , I like Sing also , As for the Christmas songs , Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is my fave and Mary did you know is great aswell , there versions of Hallelujah, Imagine , Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence are all fire , If you like K-Pop they did a collab with Ateez , and did a medley on Lipstick which is a J-Pop band , Even if you dont react to them here , have a listen to them your ears will thank you ,

You should really look up Pentatonix's "Daft Punk". All I'm gonna say about it is: Grammy-winning acapella EDM medley. (Did you EVER in your wildest fantasies think you'd see those 5 words strung together????)
You need to do the new album "Pieces of Me" by Tim Foust (bass for acapella group Home Free). It's 4 part acapella Doo Wop all parts by Tim. This is 50s/60s dance music. Dare you to sit still!
More PTX please 🙏 any song… any. single. song. that you choose will be a good one 🤣 but as for my suggestion for topping this video… first I need to ask you a question lol Do you prefer Daft Punk, Ariana Grande, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé or Rhianna? Because they have medleys for each of them. I’d recommend your favorite from that list 😁 Daft Punk had a regular medley, but the other four artists have full “evolution” videos where PTX cycles through their entire career. It’s incredible. J - Songs from the '90s? Here's a 2020 reinvention of "Wannabe" (Spice Girls, 1996.) It's very unusual. ua-cam.com/video/u9jGGiqjwf4/v-deo.html It's performed by Scott Bradlee's PostModern Jukebox -- in the style of the WWII era close-harmony group The Andrews Sisters. PMJ is Scott plus whatever instrumentation he needs to recreate a modern song in a throw-back style reminiscent of the 1920s -- 1960s. The magic begins with Scott's arrangement. Add a great band, top-notch vocalist (three vocalists for "Wannabe"), and period costumes, and the magic begins! If you prefer a different type of '90s song from PMJ, a great choice is their 2015 reinvention of "Creep" (Radiohead, 1992) featuring the incomparable vocalist Haley Reinhart. This is PMJ's most-viewed video -- 100M and counting! ua-cam.com/video/m3lF2qEA2cw/v-deo.html The song is recast in the style of a '40s/'50s lounge "torch" singer.
Is there anything Pentatonix can't sing? I don't know, maybe. I've never heard them attempt metal (which, yes, can be done acapella; Van Canto does it with just drums and vocals, and we know Kevin can make drum sounds), speedcore, noise music, or Mongolian throat singing. Also, some professional singers have a hard time deliberately singing out of tune, and I haven't heard Pentatonix do that either. It's possible they just haven't bothered to record it; but until they do, we won't know for sure that they can. Oh, and they would almost certainly struggle to sing and be understood in languages that have way more phonemes than English (e.g., Hindi). Or, heh, that one ridiculously pretentious nonsense sound poem or whatever it was that uses every phoneme that exists in any known human language, which you have to be an extreme polyglot to even attempt. I think they might also struggle with the Dutch Suite, by P.D.Q. Bach, the problem being, you need to sing all the parts down in the bass clef (because the whole point of the piece is that it's 100% below middle C). Scott can do that, and of course Matt, but that's only two voices, and I think a couple of the movements might have more voices than that. And Pentatonix has a self-imposed rule against recording anything they can't perform live, which rules out using multiple copies of the same voice the way e.g. Geoff Castellucci does. (This isn't a criticism; live concerts are important for many musicians. But it is a limitation on what they can do.) Come to think of it, the number of voices limitation also rules out some of the most excessively complex Baroque pieces, e.g., the 6-part, 8-part, and 12-part fugues: a five-member singing group just doesn't have enough voices to cover all the parts, and unlike with pop music, if you leave out some of the parts of a fugue, the whole thing doesn't work. But frankly, even the Swingle singers (who did Bach covers all the time and DID have that enough singers, at least some of the time) didn't attempt those pieces, because they're just too insanely complex. You almost have to be a mathematician to appreciate them.

But it is a limitation on what they can do.)
Come to think of it, the number of voices limitation also rules out some of the most excessively complex Baroque pieces, e.g., the 6-part, 8-part, and 12-part fugues: a five-member singing group just doesn't have enough voices to cover all the parts, and unlike with pop music, if you leave out some of the parts of a fugue, the whole thing doesn't work. But frankly, even the Swingle singers (who did Bach covers all the time and DID have that enough singers, at least some of the time) didn't attempt those pieces, because they're just too insanely complex. You almost have to be a mathematician to appreciate them.
You have to checkout their newest release ..... its the cover of the prayer .... its award winning maybe their best ever cover!!!
