Just watched 3 of your PTX videos. Yes, I love Ptx. I have seen MANY PTX n reactions and most skim the surface of their talent, which is great! BUT, you , being a musician, give a much deeper and much appreciated analysis. And no, I’m not a musician, just a 73 year old who sang chorus and in the band decades ago and so much of what I was exposed to is coming back. This time with understanding. I appreciate your work and joy and hearing them. It makes me a happy little boy. Thank you!
Kevin is so multi-talented. You definitely need to react to Kevin Olusola's cover of Down! He plays the cello, beat boxes, sings, and drum machine all in one go with a loop. It's fantastic!!
@@DrummingwithJarvis Also, his original solo, Renegade, is just a desert, a cello, and him. He invented the term "celloboxing" cause he's the only one who does it.
It's all organic. He's THAT good. Watch Coffee in Bed. The speed of his beats, along with Matt on bass, literally mimics EDM. And watch the 12 Days of Christmas, listen for the "drummers drumming." He sounds like he's on a drum line, it's INSANE. He's almost inhuman.
Matt ist the Bass since end 2017,almost 4 years. He is great! A funny person he is a light of joy he is so entertaining. Has so a beautiful voice and such a good connection with his breast and head voice. He can switch so fast in his deep or high voice you can hear it for example in SOUND OF SILENCE an amazing song👌
@@PurpleCinnamon-Land-Of-Misfits Speakers already have an issue handling one of them. No speaker can handle both of those basses. That'd be like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris team up.
Yep Matt is a great background/beat guy like Ari was, so he easily fits in the group in that role, but sadly doesn't have the Bass that Avi did, which i think was an amazing contrast to Mitch's high notes. So i think Matt fits in about 1/2 of what the group needs. He has also an excellent singing voice but the group also fits that role fine. I think Matt would be better in another group patching a hole that he fits better in and Pentatonix needs a replacement low bass person to match what Avi used to do. Matt would be so great in Voiceplay as their 5th.
Avi left amicably in 2017 (in part to have more time with his family as they had been touring non stop for a while), and was replaced by Matt Sallee on bass. Kevin's beatboxing is incredible, for more highlights you can check out some of his solo stuff like "Down" (Marian Hill cover), or some ptx numbers like "New Rules X Are you that Somebody" mashup, "Problem" (ariana grande cover), and "little drummer boy" (its a christmas song yes, but the beat boxing on it is pretty sweet)
Avi burnt out on their schedule. They were going so hard that they had a portable recording studio in a trailer they were pulling behind their tour bus. He did NOT pick Matt as his replacement (they hired a talent scouting agency to do blind auditions), but the split was amicable. Matt was brought on at the end of 2017 for their Christmas tour and made an official member in February 2018. To really get a taste of Matt's bassline you should check out New Rules x Are You That Somebody? Dua Lipa/Aaliya. Kevin and Matt really shine on that Timbaland beat. It's the only song I tend to recommend that doesn't have a Mitch moment, but it's just that good 🤣
Oh, also - if you want to check out an obviously authentic view of what Kevin does I recommend the Aha! Livestream from way back in the day ua-cam.com/video/8r3B9j2WF0k/v-deo.html There are better versions of Aha (specifically people request the fan video of Aha at Star Vista, Singapore for Mitch's best live vocals probably ever) but this one is *obviously* live - Mitch's voice breaks at one point and he has a moment - and no mics. And with Avi and Kevin sitting in the front it's the best showcase of their very complex roles in the song.
They hired a person to find basses for them but it was actually Ben Bram, their producer and sound guy, who sent them Matt's video. They sent him a invite and instantly hit it off with his energy and sound when he arrived. Avi gave them a heads quite a bit before he actually left so there wasn't any real issues finding a new bass.
Kevin graduated pre-med from Yale, he went to China and learned mandarin. He has played Carnegie Hall with cello and sax. They found him playing on youtube playing cello and beatboxing. He also has perfect pitch. Note that they never do a song they can't perform live (though the sound engineer would have to add the autotune for this one). Mitch and Kristie met when they were 8 or 10, both doing shows and going nuts. Scott met them in high school and they became The Trio publishing on youtube. They added Avi and Kevin to compete in The Sing Off, had ONE day to rehearse and won the show - which came with $200K and a record contract, but the label couldn't figure them out and dropped them. So they went to youtube and made history.
Avi is doing his own stuff now. His beard game is even more impressive. His song "Change on the Rise" is worth a listen for sure. Kevin (percussion) has his own channel and is just phenomenal! Matt does some great bass work in "New Rules x Are You That Somebody" mash up. Fire!🔥🔥

Every musician knows Bohemian Rhapsody, right? Well, you should hear their version where they don't drop any beat/section of the song, including a guitar solo - a cappella no less!
Great reaction to my favorite a cappella group of all of them out there. You can’t beat PTX for stunning harmonies and tonal quality. They don’t have a bad song out there, cover or original. They make every cover they do 1000 times better than the original. The other a cappella groups out there are wonderful in their own right, but PTX tops the class in my humble opinion. Looking forward to many more PTX reactions. Glad I found you, and I definitely hit the subscribe button.

Beginning with their last album, they've begun using more post-production effects on their recordings than they ever did before. In an interview with their producer Ben Bram, he admitted that this was a way for them to keep up with the industry. Some PTX "purists" don't like it (or deny it's happening altogether), but I personally don't have a problem with artists progressing and changing with the times. Matt's not really a new addition, he's been in the group for over three years now.
Cant top anything that anyone has already said. They are just pure perfection who make all their covers just so much better than the original. Try Amazing Grace....Sound of Silence...Can you feel the love tonight...Bohemian Rhapsody for a next PTX choice. Great reaction. Thanks and stay safe.
Another Great Reaction 👍 👌 👏 Kevin Olusola is the beat-boxer. The dude is literally a genius. Speaks several languages, went to Yale, Pre-med student and kills it on the Cello. Check out Kevin's cover of " Down" by Marian Hill. You won't be disappointed.

First Grammy was on "Daft Punk" and it showcases Kevin's beatboxing well. Maybe put that on your list. Great reactions, I agree with you, "GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" By the way, Kevin's channel content are "KOvers" and I agree with everyone else give a listen to Marian Hill's "Down" he performs a little of everything in that. Personally, I am a huge fan of their Ed Sheeran "Perfect" cover, it has a little of everything in it as well, but is well arranged.

right about the sex appeal! they all have this attractiveness that's so captivating. It automatically makes me go in a trance looking at them being so confident lol.
I love your reactions! You appreciate the technical aspects of what they're doing - and that's awesome! As Alynne said, if you want to see Kevin solo, check out his cover of Down. Looking forward to more of your reactions!
Check KO with "Down" also PTX original "Love again" Kevin (beat boxer) makes some crazy percussion noises that I thought was not possible...then I heard him do it LIVE!! Insane! Love your takes man!!! great reaction...again. Yes i'm having to catch up on them lol.

Check out Sounds of Silence to hear a great solo part from the new bass Matt. He has a great tone ✌️💚

Yeah, Kevin's beatboxing is all organic. No effects added. The only effect that PTX occasionally use is Auto-tune to get the 'Cher' sound.
Kevin is the most amazing beat boxer ever and yeah its all him.❤
Check KO with "Down" also PTX original "Love again" Kevin (beat boxer) makes some crazy percussion noises that I thought was not possible...then I heard him do it LIVE!! Insane!

❣ ***THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!*** ❣ I have also come to the conclusion, that Mitch is an Alien, from the planet of WTF 🙃 😊🙃
You should check out Kevin the beat boxer at age 17 when he performed at Carnegie Hall in a program called from the top. It is truly amazing!!!!!!

That was a "Mitch slap"...
amaazing!
Avi's mom was ill, and he didn't want the spread himself too thin. He helped them find Matt the talented new bass.
Kevin Oluosola has some solo stuff. I really like "Down".
You definitely need to listen to Kevin’s solo stuff. He is amazing!
I am a 2000 baby and I know all songs ✌️ but not all artist 😂
Hahaha yes!
Matt (new guy) has a superb voice. He's the new bass. I've heard he was hand-picked by the old bass (Avi) so...Check out "Attention" where he does some real sick bass work. Great addition!
Avi had nothing to do with Matt joining PTX. 😊
oooo snap!!!! That would be really cool if he was hand picked. 😊🙌🏽
