    Chris and Marlys, thank you for this video.
    I am in Loxahatchee, buying mango trees to plant. Since this video is 3 yrs ago, can you go back to her film the mango field progress? Thanks.

    This is the first video I’ve EVER heard anyone say mangos do fine in standing water for 2-3 weeks.
    I’ve actually always been told the complete opposite.
    This is the best news I’ve heard Bc my front yard occasionally gets standing water and I’ve been holding off planting any mangoes there.

    Surprising how well these mangoes do, all planted upon a freaking gigantic lawn.

    Being thatI'm growing mine in a greenhouse, I've listened this video probably a hundred times or more over the last year, through my ear buds as I'm working....lol, but I finally had chance watch it all the way through just now and I saw the list you kindly offered us at the end! THANK YOU!!! This is more helpful than you could imagine! Big hug!

    Very informative and useful video. not everyone has the benefit of coastal breezes to help with anthracnose, knowing which varieties do well consistently in high humidity, ( and wet feet ) is important for those that live further inland. Chris, hope you can make another visit next season when fruit are on the tree.

      Glad you enjoyed the video!
      I hope we can video her grove when the trees are full of mangos. Time and energy are often in short supply when the mangos are most interesting.

    I would love to see follow-ups on her property and see how they have been doing, especially since her application of gypsum. Her success with certain varieties is very similar to varieties that do well in my area (polyembryonic) of southern California.

    Some of my highlights of my weekend mornings are to watch your videos. I guess an okay mango for one person is a wow mango for another. Thank you for producing these great videos.

    I've had a nam doc mai and Valencia pride in the ground for about 6 years. Neither have flowered yet. I was sold a Hatcher and planted it at the same time. I get good fruit every year from it. I remember having buyer's remorse after reading about the Hatcher, but I am very happy with it. Good fruit is better than no fruit.

      Update a year later, Hatcher produced again. Also, the flavor is sweet and mildly fruity. My wife doesn't enjoy most mangoes, but she loves the Hatcher mango.

    Can you elaborate on what she means by "clean" when referring to mangoes?

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  6 років тому +10

      "Clean" means that the fruit are not particularly susceptible to anthracnose, scab, scale or sooty mold.

    Because your yard has different affects on trees, do they ever allow you try out new varieties in it ? Maybe as a control . I know you have said that growth habits and production can vary in locations.

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  6 років тому

      Since Walter lives about a mile away from me, Gary just needs his experience with the new varieties. I share my experiences with the older varieties I grow, which is somewhat different than Walter's collection.

    i have issues wth burying potting mixes into soil, im trying soil as potting soil vs compost atm, i figure the soil plants go into soil and the compost ones have to sit on top in mulch,

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  5 років тому +1

      Sometimes that works, it depends on how good your soil is. Good luck!
