I think a 1 of 1 restriction to 1 is the solution. Yeah that’s a pain in the ass, came up against someone in Arena ranked timeless who kept doing that. Thanks for the great comment, check out my other work, I live informed commenters.
Make it so that the burden counters are global so chaining them isn't resseting the counters. It would still make a great draw engine but with an heavier "burden" (hehe) and playing another one would just be like playing a fog which is okay imo
haha, thats one way to do it! That would actually be lore sensible, the ring is supposed to wear you down, losing a little bit of life per turn is really nothing, life total is a resource. but if it ups the cost of everything, that is a true burden.
That’s kind of the problem, if you have to play the ring to not lose to it then decks have less flexibility. I don’t think having a card be so format warping that it stifles creativity is good for the game.

Don't play modern, but I can understand the viewpoint. I'm on side 3 though. Looks at decks that can turbo out wins stupid fast lol.

a lot of people cry for this card when modern decks can get to 7 mana on turn 3 and do turn 3 agro kills
the decks that get to 7 mana turn 3 do play One Ring though
I think the card is on par for modern, that level of high value cards cheated out
