    So some of y'all suggested getting a stair lift. Well, that would be so cool! But, we are renting and our home cannot accommodate one anyways. We make it work for now and when we are ready to buy a house (in the far future, lol) we will look at one story places. :)

    Hi! I love your vlogs! The other day I was watching Grey's Anatomy and a patient came in with sore joints that were easily dislocated. I "diagnosed" her with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome before the doctors did. I had never heard of this condition before watching your vlogs! I just thought I should let you know you're doing a great job informing everyone what life is like with chronic illnesses!

    'Chronic illness doesn't play fair' THIS LITERALLY COULD NOT BE MORE TRUE AMEN AMEN AMEN!! Save your spoons xx today I got up very late was up for all of 2 hours woken up with dehydrated headache (aggravating syncope) got up got orthostatic headache got nauseated making lunch can't eat it can't drink enough. Pain meds taken lights off ice pack on head but still feeling crappy. Tomorrow can be better! I have however got your video on here minimum brightness-- taking the risk of watching it because I know I'm gonna be in pain and sick regardless of watching this video or not so its a risk I'm willing to take. I'm so glad the bananas were good!! Go Jaquie go Harlow go Judd!! ❤️

    I appreciate that you touched on how everyone is effected differently by there chronic illnesses. I myself have a myriad of them including GP and chronic fatigue and share both with my best friend and fellow chronic illness warrior but it effects us completely differently and we catch a lot of flack for being different and having the same illness. So thank you so much for touching on that!

    I'm with you on the banana! I can't touch them unless they're frozen because of the texture with my ASD too. It's really helpful to put them on a ziplock bag when they go in the freezer because then you can pop them off easier than a plate! :) I live in the attic of our house so it's two flights of stairs to my room and by the end of the first I end up crawling up the second! Totally feel you on the stairs, I try to stick to one level of the house for as long as possible!

    Jaquie, THANK YOU SO MUCH for vlogging your life. You opened up my eyes to what people with disabilities go through and I never thought that being a service dog is a job and people shouldnt distract them. I never did thankfully, but that's because I am a bit shy, but now I know not to disrupt any service dog working with a person with disabilities.
    God bless you! Pray you get better, stay strong Jaquie and kiss Hippo for me!!!

    Im not diagnosed with autism or a sensory disorder, but I very much understand your issues with bananas. Im the same way with bananas peaches mangos and tomatoes 🙈 I can't stand the way they feel or their taste texture and with tomatoes especially I physically can't swallow no matter how hard I try the textures just too much 😖

      Kat I never tried them.. I haven't tried a lot of foods. When I was little when I tasted foods and I didn't like it, I would immediately GAG. Now people offer me food and even if I want to try I refuse because I don't want to gag on their food because that would be so incredibly rude :c

I know you get all you need from the feeding and nutrition bags, but it must be fun to find something that sustains you that you can chew and eat as well. You're a really inspirational person, even to someone like me who is in relatively good health, seeing you push through and enjoy life as best you can, it's just really positive for me to see this, and it encourages me to be thankful. Hi Jackie! My health has recently gotten worse because of scoliosis and chronic joint and back pain. My dr suggested using a Cane to walk with to ease the pain and stress on my joints and back.
    Trouble is I'm only 19 and a feel like people will stair at me and be all "look at the poor sick girl". I know it will be a valuable tool for me, but I'm struggling to not be A. Embarrassed and B. Bothered when people stair or make comments.
    My question is could you make a video about how you overcame the embarrassment, annoyance etc. When using mobility aids and being so young. Did you ever struggle with this?

    • @ChronicallyJaquie
      @ChronicallyJaquie  7 років тому +24

      I currently have so many video requests I cannot make any promises, I am sorry. But I can tell you that no, I never felt embarrassed. I used to wear a helmet all the time due to my seizures and that did not bother me either. I see them as tools to help me, and I really do not care about what others think. However, I my autism makes me very logical. I also do not notice if people stare. So do not think your feelings are invalidated because of how I feel. You are very validated! I would just focus on doing what is best for you, though. In the end it will work out, best of luck!

      Thanks so much Jackie! i wish i never noticed when people stared, all the anxious people out there feel me lol. thank you for the encouragement. i am doing my best to see it as a tool and a vessel to gain mobility back!

    • @rinf1116
      @rinf1116 7 років тому +5

      I totally understand what you're saying. I have a spinal cord injury, chronic pain, and numbness and weakness, and I am supposed to use a cane or walker to help with mobility, pain, and because I fall a lot. I don't use them because I feel like a failure (I've worked so hard to overcome my mobility issues). I especially refuse to use them in public because I don't want staring and judgment. I'm also young (early 30s), and feel like it makes it hard to make friends and also meet a man to be in a relationship with. No one wants to hang out with or date the "crippled girl". So I just risk it at home and don't bother going out ever. It's incredibly lonely and makes me so sad to be by myself all the time. It also sucks when I fall. Just last week I took a bad fall and actually broke my toe and hurt my shoulder, and a few weeks ago fell and broke my rib. I know a mobility aid would be better for me, but I just can't bring myself to experience the sense of failure, embarrassment, and anxiety that goes with it.

    • @MariaMusling
      @MariaMusling 7 років тому +5

      Isn't falling embarrasing too? I understand, that you feel embarrased. Even my 87 year old grandma feels embarrased because of her needing a wheel chair.
      When you fall you also get hurt, and I think, the best choice is to do, what is best for your body.
      I am not in your situation, so I may not know exactly, how you feel.

Really the only place that actually worries me is going to my job with a cane. Because of reputation and I don't want them to think I'm not capable of my job

    Hi, Jaquie I've just recently started watching your videos and they make me feel so much better, I've been going through some constant pains these last few weeks and your videos make it easier to deal with it. I wanted to suggest some snacks that I like that are pretty healthy they are Quaker rice crackers, I like the BBQ and caramel flavors myself, they are a pretty good substitute for regular chips

    This was such a funny vlog, with you and Judd! :) Loved the editing too, and I just wanted to say that I always love your videos, always look forward to seeing them! With most vloggers I have to wait until the next day to see their videos since they post at night (for me, in my timezone in the Netherlands), but your vlogs are always around 3/4 pm which is just perfect :)

    I used to navigate around our slate floor like you do up the stairs. I was a fall hazard because it was really slippery and I was and still am really thin and in danger of seriously hurting myself on the hard surface. My sibling was mean and took advantage of my compulsive sliding with my socks and would open up her room door to intentionally hit me in the face with the door.

    Hi Jaquie,
    I am glad that you find another safe food!
    Have you considered banana chips? I don´t know if it is easy avalible in the US, but in germany it´s a pretty easy to get thing in the groceriestores. It is basicly bits of dehydrated banana.
    All the best Michael

    At participating Dairy Queen locations if they don't turn your Blizzard upside down you can get on free at your next visit. Personally I'm a bit of a Blizzard snob and if they can't turn it upside down it's not thick enough for me (and I've gotten them where they weren't as good, before the upside down thing was so big.) Also tomorrow is Miracle Treat Day where a portion of every Blizzard sold is donated to Children's Miracle Network.

    Hey Jaquie, how do you take care of your teeth after your cyclic vomiting syndrome? I would think that would be difficult specially when you have so many tummy issues.

    • @ChronicallyJaquie

      I definitely do NOT brush, that apparently rubs in the acid and breaks down more enamel. I rinse with baking soda until it has been a few hours vomit free, then I brush.

    I'm going to ask you a question, Jacquie, that is totally none of my business, & I hope you'll forgive me if I'm out of line with this particular question.........which is.......having noted that the two of you reached for each other's hand just before you were about to begin eating that delicious-looking meal. Your hand-holding at that point made me wonder if you were about to thank God for the food. My husband & I always join hands to thank God for each meal just before we eat. If my observation & assumption is correct, I will "go out on another nosy limb" & ask which denomination of church you attend.

    That's awesome that the frozen banana with peanut butter worked for you. :) Yay for safe foods. It sucks, I'm allergic to bananas. I love the things and we couldn't figure out what was making me so sick for a while when I was a pre-teen. Turned out it was bananas. Only recently found out that it's because of latex food syndrome. I have a sensativaty to other fruit with the same compound in it but if I as long as I don't eat them on an empty stomach I'm usual fine. Bananas are the only one so far that make me violently ill. What's really sad too is I once had a doctor tell me that that wasn't an allergic reaction. If you look up latex food syndrome one of the types of reactions other than the typical anaphylaxis was severe nausea and vomiting. Even before I found that article I knew better and found a different doctor. Anyway, like I said, so glad it worked for you! It's always nice to find another safe food. I haven't been diagnosed with gastroparesis but I do have a lot of nausea and know the struggle of having to find those safe foods and keep them on hand. It's always nice to add one more to the list. :)

    Jac I agree turning the DQ blizzard upside down FREAKS me out as well. LOL I get teased about it, so it's nice to have a cohort in this!
    Those banana & pb treats would be great for Harlow on hot days! I have doggy pb made with pumpkin in it, so I'll see if Gatsby likes them.
    ALSO if you have a cookie tin, line it with wax paper and they will stay fresher and not stick. 😉
    PS thanks for the new chicken recipe minus the cheese. I'm with Judd on chicken and cheese!
    LOVE COWS & some of my favorite relaxing drives are out in country. Taking some big cut up carrots and pulling along side a pasture at sunset to feed the cows a treat. And just being "still". Listening to the quiet and breathing in the sweet smell of nature.
    PS we use to tell the kids that the smell they smell when driving past a farm is "Ode da cow"! 😂😂😂 The farmer sprays it on the cows every morning before they go out to the pasture. The cows love the smell. LOL yes it's a French parfume, ode da cow. Kids LOVE that story. 😊
