Omg Rm18 for a laksa? I'm so sorry you got ripped-off. I hope Penangites here who know this eatery make it known to them tha they are cheaters and spoil our image.
Who knew Penang was such a friendly and interesting place? I want to go there now!
😂Yes babe... U welcome u so sweetie 😅
Omg we can totally see you roaming the streets, you would absolutely love Georgetown, food and gorgeous murals everywhere you look 😍
Malaysia has a lot to offer.
I am loving the vibe.
The street food and the people are amazing ❤
Such a great vibe here, lots to eat and lots to see 😍
As an Australian one of the first things we look for when we get to Penang is an Asam laksa and it never disappoints!
1) Have to point out 2 things about the laksa. The version of laksa more to Chinese version of laksa. So for an authentic Chinese version of asam laksa is the seller will pour the broth into the bowl, drain it back into the pot and repeat the step for like 2-3 times. The reason for doing that is because in the broth it has fish that already turn into flakes. So by doing that you'll get a layer of fish meat on your laksa. Then about the black paste. For the Chinese version of laksa, the black paste is actually sweetened shrimp paste. The broth already contains tamarind, so there's no need to add more tamarind paste. The purpose for fhe paste is to balance the saltiness and add some colour to it.
2) as a local, i have to say that wonton noodles are one of the best in Penang.
Wow! What a great video!!
You would love Penang and all the food 😍❤
Thank you guys. m planning a trip there . Your video has been a tremendous help.
yay! Always happy to help 🥰

great vlog!!! It made us miss the food in Penang. It truly is amazing! Cheers!
Thank you so much friends, we cannot wait to watch your vid!😍
The late Anthony Bourdain had high praise for Penang's asam laksa. A CNN poll listed laksa as one of the world's best dishes.
Cant argue that, it was soo good 😍
Now I want to go to George Town, Malaysia.
Yesss! We hope you can visit soon 😍
Shev and Dev, I have watched a few of your videos. Absolutely love it. You guys do an amazing job in promoting Malaysia, better than any Tourism official in the country. Btw, you guys are natural and it is easy to connect with that. Keep it up & look forward to more videos!
This is such a genuinely kind and thoughtful comment. Thank you so so much! You just made our day 😍❤️
Shev & Dev:Congratulations to you guys for your new remarkable video today’s from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia tasting delicious foods @ the restaurants in July of 2023❤❤❤

You guys are amazing
First time watching your vlog and love it
Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Keep on adventuring outside the norms on tourist spot and you will have your taste buds amazed
We really wish we had bigger stomachs! The food was unreal 😍😍
I saw the video u share for the trip to ABC! Really impress🎉
Thank you so much!!😍
Enjoy ur day in Penang Island.
@@ShevandDev if you are cake & coffee lover, must do some cafe hoping in Georgetown like China House & Wheeler cafe
Hello from australia! I love noodles! Thanks for another exciting adventure!
thank you so much for watching! We would love to visit Australia 😍
Try biryani rice and tandoori chicken set menu at KAPITAN indian restaurant at Chulia street, with watermelon juice there. Yummy.
YUM!!! i want that right now🤣❤
There are many types of laksa in Malaysia. Asam = sour/acidic. Now try the regular laksa with smaller rice noodles. I like it better, but both are good.
Love Penang, I want to retire there!
That sounds delicious! We did enjoy the sour one though 😍
Very good video.
Rm18 for asam laksa is too expensive. There is a particular shop in Air Itam i think correct me if im wrong. Very popular for asam laksa where the late Anthony Bourdain used to visit. If you haven't tried nasi kandar, you haven't visited Penang. Char kueh tiaw with duck egg is a must.
Thankyou! We tried char kuey teow in our previous video and nasi kandar in the next video, stay tuned 😍
she charged rm18 plus tips rm2 total rm20 was for foreigners double price, if local people eat there half the price
tarnish our reputation😅😅
Biasa la kawasan pelancongan, Jalan Alor kat Bukit Bintang pun macam tu, belum naik Bukit Bendera lagi ( Penang Hill)

NASI KANDAR DEEN MAJU is very delicious
Nasi kandar in penang is the best.. You guys should try it~
You gurs are amazing 😍😍😍
You should come to Sarawak and try the food and specially the Sarawak laksa which Anthony Bourdain gave it the title 'The breakfast of the Gods'
I'm your new subscriber from Malaysia ❤
Thanks for subbing! Welcome to the channel 🥰
Asam Kaksa was one of my favouites. Additionally, I love Char Kway Teow and Roti Canai with different types of curry juice.
Every dish in Penang is nice.
Belacan is shrimp paste not tamarin. Though tamarin water is sometimes added to give it a sour taste.
Ah wow! 😍
U should try Nasi Kandar In Pg
ooooh keep tabs on the next video 😉😉
Nice vlog..
thank you so much! 🥰
Rm18 for laksa i think one of expensive laksa in Malaysia.
We paid 18 for one laksa and one orange juice 🥰
she charged rm18 plus tips rm2 total rm20 was for foreigners double price, if local people eat there half the price
😔
Greedy and dishonest hawkers take advantage on tourist.
You guys have just scrapped the surface of what there's to offer in terms of food and things to do in Penang. Enjoy!😊
true, thank you for watching🥰
Welcome to Penang ❤❤❤
thank you😍
Don’t forget to try the delicious nasi kandar in Penang
Stay tuned 😉
My husband and I agree with you on this and love your blogs but when will you go to Myanmar? He is from there and I am an American but think it is the most beautiful and exotic of all the Asian countries!
if u love, nasi kandar, laksa penang, chaw kue tiaw, penang is right place for u, if u love nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, ayam percik, solok lada, terengganu n kelantan is place for u to visit next 👍🏾
wow
hope you enjoy the video 😍
for the asam laksa is a shrimp paste(otak udang)
Thank you for clarifying😍
Greetings from Penang👋🏻👋🏻
greetings!🥰
You guys should try grilled fish and local fruits
together or separately? 😉
Asam laksa is a bucketlist for food.
it was such a brilliant dish! Highly recommend this! 😍
I love malaysia from Bangladesh ❤
Long time i didn't go to Penang. Maybe one day i will go.
InshaAllah
As Spanish is my second language. I must inform you, that Jalapeño is pronounced Hala-pen-yo.
The J in Spanish ID pronounced as. H. Like in Navajo. The N is s NY sound.

this episode will make you drool😅 wanna try those malaysian foods someday🤞❤️
Thank you Ian! Manifesting this trip for you 😍
nice food huh.
so good 🥳
$18 for laksa is a rip off. You got played. That con woman doesn't look like a Malaysian either.
she charged rm18 plus tips rm2 total rm20 was for foreigners double price, if local people eat there half the price
make me angry too😑
Just saying. The lady mentioned "orange, laksa, one eight (rm18)". Now the question is one glass of orange or two? Then we couldn't see how many glasses of orange they ordered. If one glass of orange and one bowl laksa, then yeah they got ripped off. If two glasses of orange and one bowl of laksa, it's expensive but I'm not complaining. It's tourist spot 🤷
By the look of her tudung, she's Indonesian.
@@manalittlesis one glass
@@sirbobhatethenumberyoutubegive yes. Found the comment about what they ordered. They're overcharged.

We did mention the noodles 😄
No comment... Just enjoyed it's... Msia forever
So glad to hear that! 😁🥰
You should try Sarawak laksa its the breakfast of God!
That sounds GOOD😍
The Laksa lady was a rip off and no prawns. We learnt to ask for the price before we ordered which has helped a lot.
Welcome to my hometown in pg
We are finally here! Such a beautiful place, loads of delicious food options 😍
@@ShevandDev recommend to visit Pg hill if have free time
Belacan is a shrimp paste.
Yes thank you for clarifying 😍
I think many are already telling you that the asam laksa you have eaten is over priced. Unfortunately, this is quite common in Penang when hawkers see white tourists. I faced this as well in Penang when I eat on the street with my white husband. And because I only speak mandarin and Cantonese, they can immediately tell that I am not a local. Local speaks the northern hokkien dialect.
How I wish local Penangites could come to our rescue at times like these 😢 to call out the unethical hawkers . But alas, no....
So even as fellow Malaysians, I get rip off when Penangites can see that we are not locals 😢
I understand your feeling. Since post covid, the dishonest hawkers are growing in numbers and getting more and more greedy towards tourist. Once I saw a western couple pay almost RM40 for two street dishes! Penang is indeed a food heaven, but it's reputation is tarnishing with greedy and dishonest vendors.
@rirismonalisazulnisyam5882 I wanna retire in Ipoh 😅
Oh we are sorry to hear that! Really hope you still had a great trip! ❤
Penang Assam Laksa is No.7 on CNN Travel World's 50 Best Food..
It was definitely worth trying for sure! so glad we got to try it in Penang 😍
Another wonderful vlog mam love from Pakistan 🙂. Best regards from Pakistan 🙂. Awesome vlog love from Pakistan 🙂.
Thank you watching! 🥰
Its shrimp paste for the assam laksa not tamarind 😊
Ah that’s for clarifying 😊
More accurate, sweetened shrimp paste. Shrimp paste is used for making sambal belacan or fried sambal kangkung.
Gourmet paradise
Wholeheartedly agree😍
멋지내요 !! 잘볼께요♡♡
Thank you for watching 😍❤
1:04 The Lady Wear Gloves to PREPARE FOODS....BUT SHE HOLD EVERYTHING ..EVEN THE SIGNAGE...then she will prepare your food😂
RM 18 for the Asam Laksa and drinks??? That's way too expensive.. usually you can get RM 6 to 7. I suggest that you should survey the price and the place before you eat. There's many more places selling Asam Laksa with a affordable price and taste delicious too. Please be careful with food stall scammer... and tq for coming to Penang 👍💟
Now we know for next time ❤️

2. Dont they exhibit the prices of food in this restaurant?
It was 18 Rinngit in total for one laksa and one orange juice 😊 what is the price usually?

I still think its a bit on a high side.
@@ShevandDev
According to FoodAdvisor, Penang assam laksa should only cost rm5 - rm8.
Assam laksa seller is overcharging them because they're tourist
Don't blame the lady. She just the worker. It was the dishonest Tauke (owner) who charge such crazy prices.
Omg her right hand with the dirty glove was touching everywhere, then she touched and picked the bowl of pre-prepared noodle before serving you !!! 😂
Rm18 for laksa 😮😮
