  • 1862 Reb Confederate 36 Caliber Revolver made by Navy Arms in 1973. Shot the targets at 25 yards and even did an accuracy test against a 1911 Springfield Arms 45 ACP. Fun times. These Navy Arms 36 Calibers are excellent guns. Man, this little bad boy surprised me. It's rather accurate.

A Hawken rifle and a .36 caliber revolver equals a fun day at the range!

Isn’t that a reproduction of the Griswold and Gunnison?

It's very possible. I've thought so but they called it an 1862.

They make a .36 caliber 1862 but they look more like the 1860 and 1861. The one you have there looks more like the 1851 only that it has a round barrel. The Griswold and Gunnison was a confederate copy of the 1851 with a brass reciever and rounded barrel where the Colt 1851 was a steel reciever with octagon barrel. The thing is with these Italian repros they’ve made variants of pistols that never existed so some of these pistols aren’t exactly historically correct. But that’s not we buy them or shoot them, we shoot them cause they’re fun and it’s a great way to honor the ones who had to use blackpowder in service or just to survive. I would love to have your pistol. I have an 1851 Navy in .44 (which isn’t historically accurate) and a 1860 Army in .44. My ‘51 supposed to be a confederate pistol but your pistol really looks to be a correct repro. Wanna trade? Lol

@@ralphperez4862 I was doing some reading a minute ago and the Confederate gave Griswold and Gunnison the green light in 1862 to start manufacturing pistols even though it was a copy of the Colt 1851.
