- In this FL Studio tutorial, I am going to show you how to make an amazing vocal effect in FL Studio 21, even if you can't sing! Anyone can do it!
This tutorial will show you step by step how to record your own vocals, and then add processing to it so that it sounds like an EPIC NASA Astronaut effect! This tutorial will show you how to record vocals in FL Studio, and then how to mix vocals as well. You can make this vocal effect using only the native plugins inside FL Studio. The only other plugin you need is the camel crusher, which is free. I used a compressor from Izotope, but you can use the stock compressor in FL Studio instead if you'd like.
Making awesome vocal effects like these are very easy to do and can help spice up your mix, making it sound more interesting for the listener.
As a music producer, it's important to make your song sound as interesting and engaging as possible, and vocal effects are a great way to do just that. Vocal effects are one of the most effective ways to bring life to your mix. Hiring a vocalist to sing can be expensive, but this is a vocal effect you can easily make yourself in just a couple of minutes.

I've upscaled this video so that it's now also available in 4k. Please let me know if this is something you appreciate or not. :)
Looks appealing AF!!
I appreciate it incase I was to zoom in on your videos very very helpful
I appreciate ✌️
You don't know how this comes right in time for my VIP track "Voyager I" :D
Glad I could help! :D
You. Are. Absolutely. Amazing.
Please never stop making videos
Thanks! Glad you liked the video 😀
Nice video mate.
You told me - many times - about vocal importance back in my feedback days, when I was really struggling.
Nowadays virtually every track I produce has some kind of vocal in them, it makes such a difference.
Hi Rikki, I've noticed! :)
Yeah, it works exceptionally well at making the listener more engaged. As they say: The devil is in the detail :)
You're always competing with every other music producer for the listeners' attention. Adding that little "extra" can often make all the difference because it's all about making sure that they keep on listening to the track long enough to get the main hook stuck in their head :)
Thanks for the epic tutorials
You're welcome! 🙂
You’re sick please keep the videos coming. I have so much to catch up on
Glad you liked it! :)
Thank you so much gentlemen, really needed this!! ❤🙌
You're welcome, glad you found it helpful! :)

You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful :)
Good tips!
Thanks :)
Awesome!! Thanks
You're welcome :)
Good tutorial!
Thanks! :)
WOW!
Glad you liked it! :)
This sounds so good for using in big tracks
Indeed! I often find that effects like these can often make or break a track. What would otherwise be a fairly boring and uninteresting part can really come to life and become exiting and engaging once you put some effects like these on there. It doesn't have to be an astronaut effect, but any kind of radio effect. An inspirational speech or whatever. :)
@@FireWalkMusic I totally agree with you, also use it add a background vocal with s wavey delay would be very interesting to create a extra dimension
Great tutorial! I've been looking for such a tutorial for a long time! Thank you so much FireWalk!
You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful :)
This is interesting. I just got a decent microphone to try something like this out.
Great tutorial!
Glad you liked it 😀
@@FireWalkMusic I sure did. I’ve been recording some vocals to process so it has a mysterious sound a while ago. Having fun with experimenting with this stuff!
Just seen this, thanks Firewalk for this revealing tutorial, very useful and I'll be using this myself now, especially the sidechain in patcher, great! 😄 (I have to add the voice over from the space shuttle is iconic, genius choice!)
Hi Neil! Glad you found it helpful! That particular trick can be used on any vocals. Very useful for trance vocals in general, which usually have very long reverb tails. :)
I’ve been struggling to figure out how to sound like this. I want to make a song that has that angelic effect but my voice isn’t the best. Thank you.
a ship like no other
Hii if i use patcher will it use less cpu than loading plug-in on different channel
Nice! Where do u get astronaut vocal
Thanks! You can record these kinds of vocals yourself. This particular one was done by someone I know who has an English accent, and not such a deep voice. :)
👍 - _also_ for the YT algo! 😊
Thanks! :)
There is one doubt that yor raw vocal itself sounds like a radio-esh, how did you come up with that?? take a reference 01:31
It's actually not my voice you hear there, I just reused vocals from a previous song I've released. The vocal belongs to a friend of mine. His voice is not as deep and also has an English accent. :)
@@FireWalkMusic Gottya!! thanks a lot
Hi, I need some help I'm mixing vocals on a two track beat, so when it comes to the bass section my vocals get swallowed in the mix, how can i make them cut through in mix on the bass section?
It depends on what's causing it. Is the instrumental overly compressed? What kind of vocals is it? Is the vocal very low in the register? If it's a single instrumental then you don't have the option to go into the mix and fix it, which is what would usually be done. You'll have to apply some fancy automation to ensure the vocals are "prioritized" during that part. Bass usually resonates heavily in the 60-80 Hz region, which is much lower than where the vocal will naturally cut through. But let's say you have a very dark vocal that is resonating around 500 Hz then you'll want to boost the vocal a little bit in that region, and at the same time you'll want to cut a little bit at that exact same place in the instrumental to allow the vocal to cut through. You can apply automation so that you have different EQ settings in different places in the mix. This will essentially "lower" the volume of certain problem frequencies, providing room for the vocal to cut through.
Ideally, you should be able to go into the mix and do this for a single element that is causing a problem in the mix in the first place, and not the entire instrumental. :)
The more compressed the instrumental is the more pronounced these kinds of problems will be.
@@FireWalkMusic Thanks man you helped a lot, it was a single heavily compressed instrumental.
@@legendarysolidproductionsl6299 you're welcome 😀
@@FireWalkMusic do you have any mixing classes where I can attend? I've been a subscriber for two years now I can't get enough of your tutorials so I would love it if you could dive deep into mixing, thats the reason why I'm asking if you have any classes I can attend?
The download on the site is only as Mac, not windows, or am I missing something?
Got it. Theres camel and camel 2 are they both the same thing?
@@nathancunningham587 I believe it's both windows and mac versions in the same download. Camel 2 is the newest version (from what I remember)
