- After waiting what felt like an eternity, my Analogue Pocket arrived. With it, I was itching to dive into the Game Boy Advance collection I have been amassing over the last year. Today, I show you all I have picked up in anticipation of this excellent handheld and even a little of it in action!

Here’s why, Gameboy Advance is awesome.
Fuck yea
Thank you. You saved me 18 min :)
Classic game system
there is nothing better than retro consoles. I bought a game boy color and playing pokemon blue
@@paid2lose71 still it's very pleasurable to watch those games with their boxes and manuals in this video
When I started college in 2011, GBA was my nostalgia hot spot and they were dirt cheap at my game store! I got my 70+ game GBA collection for basically $5 each. Even titles like Fire Emblem, Drill Dozer and Botkai. All of retro was pretty affordable then.
Man 2011 was a great time for GBA. That's around the time I started picking up more games. So many great games. I got my copy of boktai from a blockbuster back in like 2005 or 06. I wish we had more games like that.
@@XEMIko79x I think that GameCube and GameBoy were all affordable then because Wii/Wii U weren't doing so hot and Nintendo-fever was at an all time low. Switch really stepped up their game and recaptured market-share of gamers. That caused the GameCube-flation we've known and loved the last few years haha
@@stephendallas9709 I really want to play through several game cube games but it so badly expensive!
I still have emerald fire red, Pokémon pinball and weirdly 2 copies of Metroid prime fusion from when I was a kid
Did you have Law of Ueki games?
My favorite channel on UA-cam. Absolutely obsessed with your unboxing and coverage/experience with retro games. Definitely wanna pickup the Battle Network games and Pokémon pinball someday ❤
Legendary Super Warriors is one of the most slept on DBZ games in the entire series.
I ended up buying one sealed back in 2017 for $80...tough to find under $200 now
I Hacked All My Characters To Have Max Stats And 5 Limit Slots!Evil King Piccolo FTW!
Emerald is my favorite as well. I’ve got the really rare big box copy that was exclusive to Walmart. It retails for around 1.5k these day’s. But gen 3 is my favorite. I love the bright colors, graphics and art style. Hoping we’ll get a remake someday.
Bandai Namco should do the remake 🙏
@Manny No. Those were remakes of ruby and sapphire.
Well no durr emerald is your favorite considering it has more
@@mattdubovik3082 THEY WERE REMAKES OF ALL OF THEM JUST LIKE HEART GOLD SOUL SILVER WERE REMAKES INCLUDING ELEMENTS FROM CRYSTAL YOU TWERP
@@HistoryandReviews Nice try smartass. Where’s the Battle frontier from emerald then? 🤡
Pinball R&S is one of my absolute favorite GBA games. The simple fun of pinball but with the nostalgia and "catch em all" factor of Pokemon matches so perfectly.
Picked up a Red GBA SP last year to replay Metroid fusion, Yu Yu Hakusho tactics, Ghost Rider, DBZ legacy of Goku 2 & Super Sonic warriors. All gems and still a very solid handheld console. Looking forward to pick up Onimusha Tactics next :)
I have a modded ps vita with every GBA game what’s your top 10 I should play?
@@reallyhimongod definitely play Metroid fusion and Zero mission, Mario&Luigi Superstar, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the 2003 from Konami, DBZ Legacy of Goku 1&2, Final fantasy tactics or Tactics ogre if you like that, Onimusha Tactics, Star Wars Revenge of the sith, There's so many great choices depending on what you like & a modded ps Vita is badass.
@@sikevillian If you don't mind a modded PS Vita, then you should consider picking up an EZFlash Omega for your GBA. Perfect emulation on native hardware.
@@kingstarscream3807 thanks I definitely will look into that!
@@reallyhimongod kirby nightmare in dreamland, metal slug advance, pokemon emerald, super robot wars j, drill dozer, fire emblem and fire emblem the sacred stones, golden sun, wario land 4, castlevania aria of sorrow, zelda minish cap and super mario advance 3
I remember being totally obsessed with sonic advance 2. That game still holds up well. It has some of my favorite sonic ost and the art and character animation is beautiful. You can unlock tails, knuckles, cream, and even amy( if you're lucky) as playable after sonic. You can also unlock some chao mini games too. Unfortunately I was never good enough to collect all of the chaos emeralds or unlock amy. It's still great fun though. I have no idea how I used to play it in the car without getting motion sick as a kid. My original gba got killed by battery acid one summer when I was in fifth grade so I got an sp two years later. Now my sp either can't hold a charge or there's a short around the light that makes it constantly fluctuate between red and green. Either way it makes gaming on it hard so I might need a new one.
You’ve got good taste in games. Sonic Advance 2 is a classic. Ultra fast, but challenging.
Great video. Last year I bought so many gba games, as well as original and colour games too
collection for gameboy advance is alot of fun, with the cases itself, manuals and the paperthing inside
You got a sub just for shouting out us PGA Tour 2004, never played it on GBA but I had it on PS2 and that shit slapped. Killer soundtrack too.
As crazy as it sounds, if you unfold the MegaMan battle network box, put a cloth over it, and steam iron it, you can fix that dent. It works surprisingly well too
I've been collecting for the GBA for the past few months and LOVE IT !!!
I'd love to see you do a full series on Buu's Fury and LoG2 if that's something you'd do on your other channel.
They're such fun games.
The gt one is pretty good as well just a tad bit more difficult then log2 and buu fury
Just pre ordered a pocket, so while I'm waiting for the next year I am also going on the hunt for Gameboy and advance games.
Man I gotta go get a Gameboy advance! Dying to play buu's fury after your re review
SPACE CADET 3D PINBALL!!!!! Man if that isn’t a throwback! Shout Out to everyone who also loved playing this at the grandma’s house 😂🙌🏾
The OG PC game!!
I have space cadet 3d pinball and I play it on windows 7
@@marccaselle8108 Now YOU’RE a true OG gamer lol
@@kagetaz8534 thanks, I keep it classic.
Dragonball Z Buu's Fury is the first game i ever 100% completed.
Love your vids
I was doing the same thing last year. Just growing my collection. Unfortunately I’m still waiting for my pocket. Ready to get it already
Please tell me you’ve played Minish Cap - I didn’t get a copy until I was an adult but now it’s probably my favorite game on the whole system
Dude!!! Minish Cap is still one of my favorite Zelda games period, I know how that sounds considering the number of near perfect Zelda games in general but it’s probably top 5 if not top 3.
@@AssasiNater5001 I agree it’s definitely one of the better Zelda titles out of the ones I’ve played so far! I also love Windwaker, A Link Between Worlds (3DS), and obviously Breath of the Wild - although I haven’t completed any of them yet 😂
Those dragonball rpg games were fire! Metroid fusion is a must have! Fire Red Leaf Green were a throwback to the OGs. Then there was that funky 1 v 1 dragonball fighting game ….
There was so much available for the advanced. And its connectivity to the gamecube was an awesome concept !!
Bro you unlocked such a memory with the cadet pinball game !!! I used to play this at my grandparents house too
Liked the video when you mentioned tiger 04! Like a boss
Okay but DBZ super warriors is such a great game! I’ve came back to it several times, idk how many times I’ve played it now!! That box gave me such nostalgia!! Oh my word! I remember having to save up for my own copy cuz I wanted to play along side my older brother! I know I’ve had to replace copies too cuz the battery died and being a child I didn’t understand I could have it replaced cuz it was dropped 🤣 thanks for the great video! I sure wish I had a CIB copy of it! I’ll never get rid of my copy
That windows 95 built in flipper at the end. Those were the good old days
I played so much Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town on my GBA.
It's really great to continue to watch your videos and see you get as hyped about boxart and manual art like I do. Keep it up man.
Gameboy Advance manuals were some of the last good manuals.
Also I've got a Pokemon Emerald box with the manuals and stuff intact, it's just been in a drawer since 2005. Not 100% sure if I still have the game itself though.
Would you be willing to sell that?
@@thepokerus4184 Probably, I want to look around to see if I have the game somewhere, haven't had a chance yet.
You should see some original xbox manuals they are great
You had my sub the SECOND i saw you were playing battle network. My favorite series!
This video inspired me to mod my 3DS and I've had a blast, advanced wars, golden sun, legacy of Goku
I basically only used nintendo consoles as Pokemon machines growing up, it's been great getting to all these games
I never had a GBA growing up and I wish I would have started looking into it sooner as an adult. I would love to have original copies of all the main Pokémon games (including the boxes) but the GBA and DS ones are so expensive nowadays...
Still worth it
i have legacy of goku 1 & 2 and i never got buu's fury. i always wanted it but then the DS came out and i kinda moved on and forgot about it. Many years later i tried to get a copy and the price is insane. I really want that game now after seeing this video
Get a modded DS and just play it on that..
It was okay. Was really easy compared to the second one.
GBA was my first handheld! I loved my time with Pokemon Emerald and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories!
And Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
Yeah I had chain of memories it was a great game
Love the general vibe of ur videos.
I got a rg351v and I love it.. it would be cool to have the analog pocket but I can't really afford it right now, and to have the actual games would look amazing in a collection. Idk maybe one day. Looks nice man!
Recently I’m feeling nostalgic and I’m going thru my Nintendo handhelds and gba is at the top!
I can’t believe how expensive some of the games in my collection are now.
Definitely looking forward to all the Megaman EXE content sir ❤
Thank you for the video!!
Happy to provide 🫡
Hey Matty, I refurbished my gba sp and put in a IPs screen aswel as bought a omega flash drive. It works like a dream, your better off buying a flash card and just download ROMs onto it so you can add as many gba gb, gbc and nes games within storage. It saves money over buying every cartridge as ROMs can be downloaded on sites.
It also fixes the RTC issue for the gen 3 Pokemon games!
it looks nice but i cannot imagine putting that in my pocket when the screen could get screatched up by my keys or littarly anything else in my pocket, the flip version is much easier to transport around.
Okay that Frogger Advanced commercial had me rolling, I've never seen that some before lmao
We here at Retro Rebound dig deep for the best retro commercials
Emerald's the best -- fond memories of playing gen 2 and 3 on car/camping trips. Shame that physical copies have RTC troubles -- even if you get a fresh battery in berries won't grow and the tides for shoal cave won't work. Really frustrating. Golden Sun is also a favourite of mine!
Where did you get your acrylic cases from? They look so sweet. I may consider upgrading my sleeves for some of my GBA Pokemon titles!
LOL Literally subbed and thumbs uped for the tiger woods 04 shout out. My favorite game of all time.
3:36 - I'm curious to check out this Tiger Woods game mentioned. I'm about to get a psp and I saw a game bundle for sale which had Tiger Woods PGA Tour included. It has him in a Red Shirt pointing at you. Would this be the same game you're referring to? A year isn't mentioned on that cover art
Hey! Love your video! I just dusted off my old white GBA and also bought a modded one! I’ve slowly been building my GBA collection again. I’m happy that I still have some of my old carts, like Golden Sun, Aria of Sorrow, and Metroid Fusion. Do you have any recommendations for reputable sources to buy carts from? I’m a bit wary of eBay, I’ve come across a fake one already.
I want to find my old Pokémon games so bad 😢
My favorite game when I was little was a monsters inc game where you would find the pieces to the door.
Keep it up Matty!
GBA was my starting point in terms of collecting. Dating back to when the gba was still new, my collector instinct kicked in when i was 11. By that time i decided to keep every piece of the game as i got them new since i knew one say they'd end up being worth alot. Fastforward today, my most valuable games in my gba collection as of this writing is metroid zero mission and pokemon fire red.
Given, I'm also getting games that I've missed somehow or didnt have interest in for whatever reason. That said, gba is probably my richest looking collection so far. At least compared to my nes and snes collections.
Does that emulator have it's own save system built into it, or does it still rely on the battery saves on the board? I just don't see myself spending money on a game I can't even save.
So, I found the website where I can directly buy the analog pocket. They sell tons of other retro souped-up systems as well. They're selling the dock for $99.99. The pocket you showed looks so clean and perfect. I'm looking into buying one from the website. Where did you buy yours from Matty? And how long did it take to be delivered? Thanks man. 🙂
I bought it from the official site and it took well over a year to arrive. Prepare to wait if you order from there!
@Retro Rebound Holy crap! That's really long. Thanks for giving me a heads up Matty! You're my favorite youtuber! Retro rebound inspired me to start my own collection and to try video game preservation. Just picked up complete in-box versions of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4 today. And I picked up a CIB copy of condemned 2 for 360. Thanks Matty 🙂
I didn’t buy that handheld, but i’m playing so much og games, gba, psp, ps1, etc…, some of these games literally have better game features than what’s common these days and i have the newest gen…the arcade games we get today or some beat ‘em ups are no match for the “nostalgic” genre of games we know. AMAZING!
More ninja council series videos plz, I’ll watch them all twice if you do!
So true with that pinball game. Also Sky or die? I think it was called was also a classic to play to waste time while at other peoples houses with old pcs.
Great vid. On my to get list is a 3DS, PSP, and a PS VITA. This vid makes me want to get a Game Boy Advance (or Analogue Pocket). I've got a Gamecube too
Hey matty I would really love it if you did a video on prototype 1 or 2. Its on modern consoles so it shouldn't be to hard to play. I love each of those games and they are like 10 years old or more so would totally count for a retro look back on.
I beat both back on 360
My best pickup to this day was Jet Grind Radio on the GBA, new and complete for 50 dollars. It was from a mom and pop game store that sadly shut down. To this day I've never seen another copy in the wild, and online it's becoming pretty expensive too. As a big fan of the series I had to own it.
Probably because they were practically giving games away. People love cheap
Aside from Pokemon and other RPGs the games are generally fair priced
Metroid Zero Mission, Aria of Sorrow and others are so rare they are super expensive too
@@leinsaat5779 yep
Naruto ninja council 2 is so fun to go back to!( I love it's music especially) I used to try completing the story as only one of the characters if I could. I have pokemon pinball ruby and sapphire edition as well. It's the only pokemon game where I've completed the pokedex lol! I own emerald, sapphire, firered, and pokemon mystery dungeon red rescue team for gba as well. I used to have the boxes but my mom threw them out when I was attending high school one day in 2009. I still have the manual for emerald and yoshi's island advance though.( they were luckily in my trading card binder at the time.) When my grandma bought me soul silver for my seventeenth birthday shortly after it's release a part of my sadness went away because it too had a nice box thet included the pokewalker and manual. I still have it now, probably because I lived with my grandma back then instead of my mom at the time. My most recent gba buy is spyro season of ice because one of my first gba games was the sequel season of flame( along with shrek for my tenth birthday) Season of flame was fun but shrek was annoyingly hard lol. Now I want to hunt down more.
I recently got into Gameboy modding, and all I need left is a Pocket. But I can say that I think the Advance is my favorite one of the bunch! I thought the SP was my favorite, but after recently modding the standard Advance with the FunnyPlaying Laminated IPS display, it’s my new favorite.
who asked tho
I've got an original glacier gba with an ags 101 mod. Would you say it's worth it to upgrade to the funnyplaying laminated screen you've got?

My favorite Nintendo handheld! Still play my gba ags101
I pulled out my GBA SP a few weeks ago. It still works, and the battery hasn’t even leaked yet! I still replaced the battery though.
Will that happen with all handhelds from back then? I still got my Advance, SP, two micros and a DS lite.
I still have all my games, just never saved the boxes since. I ripped them when I first unboxed them as a kid.
Wanted an analogue pocket but couldn't get my hands on one, ended up picking up an anbernic instead, not the same though. And yes to that pinball game!! I spent hours playing that thing 😂
I'm trying to do the same thing. I just found a collection of GBA games I had, boxes (in various conditions) and manuals.
Not only does the Analogue Pocket play Game Boy, GBC and GBA games, but also is compatible with Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket.
3rd party trash. I’ve never even heard of “Analogue”. No thanks.
I really wished that I started collecting earlier, had a decent amount of games back then but didn't get seriously into collecting until 2015. Some of these prices are just insane. I have many of the essentials and trying to get some more hidden gems.
I have a very nice cib gba collection, had most for over 10 years now.
Did anyone else have a plastic pinball machine? I got one for Xmas and it was themed after the pinball game you brought up in this video
Nice video !!
I actively started collecting 3D GBA games in 2007 (i started with Driv3r).
In 2023 i'm still playing and buying 3D\2D GBA games😉
My favorite 2D game is The Legend of Spyro The Eternal Night, the favorite 3D one is Smashing Drive.
I also have the Shrek + Shark Tales video cartridge "common in America", rare in Europe.
How much does a factory sealed Pokémon Emerald reasonably go for?
I just got my RG353V and been stuck on the GBA section of games. So much fun on that nice screen.
If you like golf with Rpg elements you should try Golf Story if you haven’t
Just found all my old games. Have most every game you mentioned here (minus Naruto) with boxes including Emerald! Used to be obsessed with Pokémon Pinball hahaha
When i started my Gameboy collection in 2014 in europe here, prices were around from 1 euro till 5 euro per game😂 and i have now a 180 game collection from that time. I just went all mad and crazy with buying those. And I am so happy with them now.. Even more when I hear your prices about Mario Golf and Dragonball Z Warriors. I think i paid maby 5 euro's for both😂👍
im gonna play them today by seeing your video btw.😁thanks for that.
I need a review video of the Analogue Pocket now
I've got some CIB and sealed Gameboy games for sale on ebay and at the flea market in Maryland. I have Battle B Daman sealed for Gameboy advance and Quest for Camelot CIB for Gameboy color. I also have some Mario and Sonic games I haven't listed yet. I might keep some of them in my collection.
anyone know or have a link on where to get sleeves for your games?
Ive never met anyone with a copy of legendary super warriors other than myself (yours is in beautiful condition holy crap) I remember seeing it at GameStop as a kid for like 2 bucks and really wanting it, it was cheap enough that and I loved DBZ enough that My mom was willing to get it for me, the translation errors in it are really memorable to me
I literally bougth a gameboy sp 2 hours ago and i love it
I lost a lot of my GBA games as a kid, recently I got Crash Bandicoot N-Tranced which was one of the games I lost. Mario Kart Super Circuit is an underrated Mario Kart game too
Where did you find those CIB?
Crazy that I had gotten sapphire from my cousin played it then got leaf green and then bought emerald brand new myself beautiful memories
I played Minish cap and beat it yesterday, but idk what other gba games to play cuz most of them are Pokémon from what I’ve seen

Mario golf is so fire you need to play that fam
Always love seeing a new retro rebound video!
I've got a good job and I'm interested in retro gaming, but I also live with people: Meaning I don't have a lot of room to spread out and I'm strategic with my money. Once I have my own place, I'll get my old PC up and running, and start collecting vintage game systems.
Golden Sun in the thumbnail you know he knows good games!
My mom had the space pinball game on her windows xp back in the day
