Dude...seriously this was such an enjoy to watch. This is something I've been wanting to get into for a long time and to see it done with minimal experience, honest little mistakes, and giving us a chance to learn from them as you do just makes me want to take that leap. The option of solderless mods is awesome too. Love your energy, enthusiastic curiosity, and calm/humorous demeanor. I look forward to seeing more. Thank you for sharing this experience.
I really appreciate you not editing out your mistakes. Too often people get scared to try something that seems outside their scope of comfort and watching someone make and correct a misstep is all part of the learning process. Fantastic video and beautiful GBA.
didn't know Nick was active on this channel. Nick was such a big part of my growing up in 2016-2020, so glad to see he's doing stuff here, and better yet, he's kept up with the same hobbies im finding myself getting into!!
I loved every second of this video. It was so cool to see what a GBA looked like on the inside, how to take it apart, and what I would need to do this myself. This one you upgraded looks amazing, and I'm inspired to try this myself now! PS: Ruby and Sapphire are my favorite Pokemon games as well, nothing beats that nostalgia.
loved this Gameboy mod vid! Cool that you went with Venusaur color scheme basically. tbh I've never thought to do this with my old consoles and I honestly might try it myself after I get the right gear. Looking forward to the future video with seeing the rest of the haul from those stores
Great job man! It’s very satisfying and exciting to work on a project of your own like that. It’s even more rewarding to feel a sense of accomplishment after the finished product is complete.
Love this vid so much! I’ve gotten into modding in the past couple years. Got 2 GBC mods I’ve done myself. But this will be my next step too! GBA looks good. I’m looking forward to seeing your modding journey! This one turned out great. And RIP Leaf Green.
I love these videos. My husband has this same talent/skill set of being able to take apart and repair electronics and is also able to solder. I think you just inspired us to replace the shell on our original DS Lite.
No clue how I ended up here, but nicely done! Nothing quite like building and customizing something with your own hands and bringing old games back to life, and you've done both in one swoop.
This video just inspired me to mod my old advanced, i was iffy since i dont know how to solder tiny components yet, but since we got that touch sensor now it seems easier so ill go ahead and do it ! Thanks Nicholas !
I actually love the green with the pink. Clear with pink buttons would have been cool, but as a grass type lover, I think this works for you! Great job, loved watching. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
This is so cool Nick! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make more videos like these! I completely agree with you on getting distracted on phones and such. I'm actually going back to offline devices myself including an mp3 player, Zune.
I just did my first mod on a GBA SP. It turned out sooo nice (so did yours!) and I'm so proud of it. I challenged myself and took the extra step for soldering and it went perfectly. The hinges were a big pain though. I'm already searching for my next modding project. 😂
I am studying abroad in Japan right now, I have too have been looking at all the hard-offs for gameboys. I didnt know there were so many mods, the usb c battery will be a 100% purchase. Thanks for showing this off!
I thought the type C charging was a solder job, this is awesome to see it as such a simple drop in! I need to fix a special edition ds lite next, and have a set of joycon drifting to fix, but this would be good to do next

Hey Nick, I just find some of my old handheld and was searching to entrer the mod hobby. I'm so glad to find this video, I was missing to see your content since a stopped playing pokemonGO couple years a go. I hope you post more content on this.
It's cool to see other people getting into the modding hobby and how they're going about it. I got all the same stuff, but the entire thing for mine is clear. Buttons, case, battery cover, etc. I also got a custom white motherboard and the same rechargeable battery.
I just got into modernizing gameboys and I just randomly clicked this video and saw you. At first I was like… did I click a pogo video and saw you had another channel. That’s sick man. I love all your videos. Keep modding and playing Pokemon!
I modded my GBA during the Pandemic and love the screen and the new look. I've been wanting to do another GBA mode and might get the new screen you picked up in this video. Enjoy playing on a beautiful screen.
Marekprime we probably used the same older LCD display that was selling on AliExpress 2 years ago? i bought my kit and soldered the 2 wires for brightness...screen not laminated as there wasn't any then...that's a new idea...i want one but i accept the mod is finished...can't have it...did you do the mod because the original unlit screen was broken or just to upgrade it? mine was damaged anyway...no battery modification on mine...just an adaptor for 3v mains power...only mistake i made was sticking the LCD down before double checking alignment...it's 2mm offset to one side...not an issue...at least it's level
I used to have a blue SP but the modding hobby on this GBA is terrific, looks fun and now theres IPS screen available , it will make games look crisp and more colorful, love this hobby and good job Nick
Greatjob with this mod. I have been into Electronics my whole life and worked in an Electronics store for 2 years, I see you used all the right tools, Right Angle Precision Tweezers, Capton Tape, Precision Tri-Wing Screwdriver and you called the "light pipe" a "light pipe" not many people know that one! I was in Japan myself and looked around Tokyo Radio Department store and Akihabara. Tried to met you but lucked out on that :( Anyway Mod looks great!
The GBA is a great place to start...I got mine and did mod it 3 years ago and after that I moved to DS Lite repairs and I even repaired a 3DS, an Original Xbox and a PS2
I made a transparent red case for an SNES controller for my channel. I took one apart, 3D scanned the shell, did some 3D sculpting to make handles and texture, then printed it out in transparent red resin. It came out perfectly. I bet I could do it for a console shell as well.
Would love to see you do more modded videos in the future like a gamecube controller. A friend of mind built me a sick modded game cube controller for my birthday a few years back and overtime, some of the buttons stopped working. I always wanted to fix it but never had the time or the motivation to. I'm hoping to do it someday lol
In India we didn't have game boy or GBA so I discovered the games when I got an android phone way later than most. I don't have the money to spend on purchasing the games and consoles, but I am happy that someone is living that dream. This is your second video I watched, and I feel happy and maybe someday I'd get to buy them too and catch 'em all
That looks great, you did a good job! I still have all of my old Pokemon games and handheld devices, including a Pokemon GameBoy Micro which is probably the most beautiful thing I own 🤤
This reminds me of what I did for my gameboy SP. Got a Pikachu shell and a IPS screen with a longer lasting battery. Was worth it but it’s also really small. Might have to get a gameboy advance and try the mods in this video.
I did that same thing to my original sega game gear 2110g system I put a glass screen protector on it and replaced the battery terminals and it works excellent
Hey Nicholas! Great video man you inspired me to build and mod one of these myself! Are you able to link all the mods you bought for this project so I can buy them myself?
Could you do a video replacing some of the batteries for the retro game boy Pokémon games? I’ve been wanting to replace some and it would be a great intro into soldering.
Semi-transparent cases were the peak of tech aesthetics. We need more.
*Translucent
To be honest, I’m not a fan of see-through cases.
Atomic Purple is the best colour any console has been released in.
Couldn’t agree more
@@rockythecoolkidwhen I was younger I used to think the look was tacky. Now that I’m older, I want/miss that aesthetic

Wonderfull writen wish i could do it this way like you sorry for my english😂❤
I love the pink and green combo. It looks so good! What an upgrade :D So wild to see the USB-C charger with it, haha.
I'd love to see more collection/modding content from you Nick, its relaxing to just chill and enjoy the process honestly.
Just stumbled upon his channel, and I'm sad that he's not made anything in the last few months :( Awaiting my boy Nick!
I really appreciate you not editing out your mistakes. Too often people get scared to try something that seems outside their scope of comfort and watching someone make and correct a misstep is all part of the learning process.
Fantastic video and beautiful GBA.

Such a fun watch, I think I might've got to do this myself!
Always love these different kinda videos from you bru, hope to see more soon!

I forgot this channel existed! Cool work. Love these kinds of mods.
I loved every second of this video. It was so cool to see what a GBA looked like on the inside, how to take it apart, and what I would need to do this myself. This one you upgraded looks amazing, and I'm inspired to try this myself now!

I've wanted to try this myself since seeing your original GameBoy work. Awesome job!

This was one of the most interesting videos you have ever done. Thank you so much!
it looks so good!!! honestly you did an amazing job on this 🎉

That GBA mod is gorgeous - great work, Nick!
No clue how I ended up here, but nicely done! Nothing quite like building and customizing something with your own hands and bringing old games back to life, and you've done both in one swoop.
Love the step by step instructions! Awesome video! I’m hoping to get one and do these mods too.

I love this new hobby you have found. Hope you enjoy rebuilding more games
The Gameboy I didnt know I needed! Awesome video Nick!
this was such a satisfying watch honestly, another great video Nick, i didn't even realise you had a second channel but i am sold haha
Subscribed. I enjoyed this taste of nostalgia and no fluff content. Thanks for being you. :)

More of this stuff please. :) I am amazed how you sound like an expert already, when saying its your first gameboy color you opened.
What an awesome hobby to have! Great job, it looks amazing 💚.
Amazing! It looks so good !

I stopped watching your main channel when I stopped playing Pokemon Go, but I'm glad I stayed subbed to this channel. This was cool!
It’s been years since I’ve seen your videos, I used to love watching the early Pokémon go videos. Great video!
That was very enjoyable just watching you rebuild that gameboy advanced, great video. 👍
This kind of video is great, hope you can do more like this.
The green and pink look so much better than the clear. Glad you were forced to use it
I would like to try this I’m lucky enough to have two game boy advances. Looks like I’m going to be busy this Christmas. Thank you for the video
I’m a big fan of this kind of content Nick!
So nice! I love the cooler choices.
This is so nice! Two beautiful GameBoys!
Someday I might want to try this, too :)
I'm looking forward to the next video!

Amazing work! That mod looks so cool
So good to see you post here again Nick !

Pink and green color combo always looks so dang good !!
Also been getting back into handheld GBA and DS. So nice to have a console that actually fits in a pocket and doesnt drain phone battery.
Awesome work Nick! Makes me want to go out and get some old school game boys.

Looks great. I have been watching Retro Future do a lot of these and always thought of doing one myself. Also maybe restore my old N64.
The GBA is a great place to start...I got mine and did mod it 3 years ago and after that I moved to DS Lite repairs and I even repaired a 3DS, an Original Xbox and a PS2

Great job! Looks amazing. Wild it has USB-C lol
You look a lot like Eric in That 70’s show hahaha great video man!
This reminds me of what I did for my gameboy SP. Got a Pikachu shell and a IPS screen with a longer lasting battery. Was worth it but it’s also really small. Might have to get a gameboy advance and try the mods in this video.
Gorgeous 😍
Any link to purchase the parts ?
So f*cking cool man- i would love a gba modified like yours.
This is cool! I didn’t k ow this was a thing. Time to break out my old indigo gameboy advance!
This makes my heart so happy!
Bro that game boy advance u built is fire & that new screen 🔥
Bro that hyped me up, where did you get modded parts for GBA? Tysm
Great job, looks fantastic. I love translucent consoles shame they are not made anymore.
Nice. I might work on a collection of my own someday
This was sick to watch!! Please sell these lol
I did that same thing to my original sega game gear 2110g system I put a glass screen protector on it and replaced the battery terminals and it works excellent
I absolutely LOVE clear game boys and other devices. One of my favorite things about 90s tech
I would like it if you had a list of the items you used in this video with links to buy them.
Great video! My younger brother mod one for me. It is one of my most prized possessions.
Hey Nicholas! Great video man you inspired me to build and mod one of these myself! Are you able to link all the mods you bought for this project so I can buy them myself?
Bro I loved the video! Where can I find that battery and the entire kit! Please let me know and thank you for uploading really nice videos
Seriously loving the green shell with the pink buttons 👌🏻 a perfect accident 😂
Great video. Could you tell us where you bought the IPS and the shell from? Links is possible would be awesome!
this is amazing!!
Retro future tips in the house
Could you do a video replacing some of the batteries for the retro game boy Pokémon games? I’ve been wanting to replace some and it would be a great intro into soldering.
