@@1tsthelittlethings Thank you! I have been wanting to undercoat it but wasn't happy with anything I have seen until rust bullet! I looked at the beetle when he was done, I am super impressed, in a few months when the weather breaks I will do it and put it up on my channel!
Bro you seriously need a show on #motortrend I binge watching lately and each video is timeless and entertaining I I'm just waiting on when get a chance to check out Slades workshop in person
Thank you so much brother, I truly appreciate you very much. I don’t think they would ever want me, lol You’re welcome here anytime brother. That would be a blast.
Looks like new again. Prepping is indeed the keyword to get a good result and you nailed it. Can’t wait how the body work will go. Keep up coming those great video’s 👍👍👍👍
Thank you my friend, I already started on the bodywork in the inner well, and I’ve been taking photos of the process. I really haven’t filmed in that area much.
Excellent Slades. Will try Rust Bullet on my ‘68 sedan. The 1970 sedan was worked on by my friend Frank who did the scraping and rust prevention in his garage. Looking forward to it, you made it seem easy. Take care. Jim S
Thank you Jim, I literally love this stuff, it goes on nice and thick. And if you do follow the directions it works quite well. A friend of mine has been using it for many years and never an issue.
Honestly my friend it works very well. I like it because my buddy used it five years ago like I mentioned in the video and it’s holding up great. And he drives through all of the salt.
Thank you Andrew, I’m actually going tomorrow morning to cut some sections out of a car down there. And of course Heather, my sidekick is going along. I probably will go ahead and film it.
Great tips Mr Slade. I am currently into the same process but on the rear chassis. Dirty job but has to done. I have purchased POR 15. Hopefully it goes on as well as your Rust Bullet. Received your stickers. Awesome quality! Thanks.
Thank you so much my friend and thank you for getting some number stickers. I truly appreciate that. That will also work very nice. Just take your time, prep work of course is the main thing.
Thank you William I truly appreciate it. I already started working on the inner well, and I did take photos of the process. But I didn’t do some filming it was too hard. I had to have the heater on in the garage I was freezing. I only have that torpedo heater and it is very loud.
Tip for people who won't buy an air compressor, (I did but I hate all the noise it makes) you can often get by with using a foot or hand pump as used for inflating a bicycle or car tire.
Thank you John, for giving a tip and advice I truly appreciate it that’s what makes this community special. Great tip!!!! I agree sir, I did not like it at all that’s why I switch to the wire wheel. I thought that spongy thing kind of sucked lol
Your videos are great a lot of awesome information on how to do things and I like the junkyard videos. I myself like going to the junkyards for parts and to just look around.
I used a similar product on the entire underside of my motorhome called Chassis Saver. It was a one coat product. I had to use a respirator as it's pretty toxic.
Awesome 😎 Video 📸. Rust Bullet is going to keep that VW and lots of Classic car projects around for a really long time. There's a spray can version that has a long plastic straw that you can treat INSIDE the heater channels. Great 👍🏻 Stuff Slade Keep them coming.
Thank you Leonard I truly appreciate that. Do you mean Russ bullet has a spray can? I didn’t even know that to be quite honest with you. I would like to spray the inside of my heater channels it would help so much.
@@SladesVWBeetle Rust Bullet doesn't. Sorry 😐 Eastwood products is the one I was referring to. I've seen it used on a lot of other UA-cam restoration projects on all kinds of different cars and rust situations. All I've seen is good feedback with Eastwood products. It's very similar to the rust Bullet that you're using.
@@leonardramsey3458 I forgot they had that. I would like to spray some thing inside of the heater channels, since they do rust from the inside out. I will definitely look into it Leonard, thank you so much for the reminder.
Another great video. I’ve gotten lots of great advice on my restoration. When do you think you’ll get back to your beam? I’m trying to clean up the gunk in all the grease out of the inside of mine. I was hoping you would go over that before I needed to finish mine.
Thank you Andrew I truly appreciate that. I actually bought a brand new beam, that is bare. So I will be installing that. Of course doing the whole process with installing the springs and everything. My old beam I’m going to refurbish. And have it as an extra. I will be doing that within the next four or five weeks.
I have a question,I have a 57 bug my son and I are restoring,it was ran into the ocean back in the 60s,I have restored probably around ten bugs in my life time,I have never ran into this. The engine won't come out it it stuck to the transmission shaft.all bolts are loose, the starter is removed the fly wheel is rusted, you can see it through the starter hole. The engine will turn all the way upside down left or right, but will not come out,any Ideas other than a torch?the engine and transmission both have to be replaced.
First of all my friend be very careful with a torch around magnesium. If it catches on fire, which it can…you will never be able to put it out. Those engine blocks, burn like crazy. Not trying to scare you just warning you. I have never had one stuck like that. The only thing you can really do is keep banging away on it. I have never even heard of one thing about stubborn.
Yes I have thrown one or two old magnesium blocks in in the bon fire on my uncles farm, when I was less wise.I get it.it can be Dangerous I guess we will just try to muscle it out. Thanks for your input I enjoy your channel, keep it up.
Looking good. Rust bullet looks like to be a great product which I think is better than what I used for my chassis restoration. Mailbox is full 😂. I did email ya a while back.
Excellent as always! That looks like some good stuff. Is it necessary to go all the way to bare metal or is scuffing ok? Not sure if I’ll go the Rust Bullet path or not but definitely want to do something!
Just saying if a person was able to do it all right inside the tube/tunnel you could properly seal it? just wondering nice job sorry i suck at typing folks
Thank you Mike, believe it or not that has been happening since I was a small child. Family genetics…Got a little worse with age. But it’s a tremor disorder. Thank you so much for being here.
Wow! I’m liking this stuff, could I use that to undercoat my Jeep? Since Jeep’s are prone to rusting.
Oh we are going to do it to your jeep. It will really help it a lot. But you have to help! Maybe we’ll film it lol
Yes, you can use it as an undercoat! If it's metal, you can use Rust Bullet! You won't be sorry!

This rust preventer is great 👍 like the appearance of the coating. Nice haircut BTW
Thanks my friend, it works really well. And coats nice and thick. Thank you! I needed a new hairstyle lol
Wow that's awesome. Really covered nice. Hope to get some for my truck.. Stay safe have a great weekend...

I was actually quite surprised, since I got this from Junkyard. It was very solid upfront. Thank you for being here.
Huge thanks for the videos buddy, they are never boring. As I keep saying I’ve got a bus but your videos can cross over all types of VW
Thank you so much I truly appreciate that. Most Volkswagens do cross over to each other in a certain way. That was a very good statement.

When you back to the junkyard, to get those body panels. Maybe you can check out that 300SD and buy it. 😁

It would be hard to get inside the tunnel Linda, but it’s always nice to be able to spray inside of there, with some type of rust preventative.
