I have a 2015 with 31k miles. Over the past 6 months it has been in the shop now 3 times. Had the issue with the steering rack where it pulls to the left or right like crazy then goes away but comes back later on. So started with having to replace driver side tie rods. Month later had to replace the passenger side. Get it back cars making a huge clunk metal on metal sound. Find that the driver side tie rod needs replaced again ontop of that the boots torn and needs replaced. So something for others to be on the look out for.

I had the VQ37 fail at highway speed at around 30k miles, in my 2015 Q50. Valve spring broke, valve fell into cylinder. Engine was replaced under warranty. I was surprised and embarrassed because I had purchased the vehicle specifically for its anticipated reliability:/

Hey man. Wondering if you ever thought of doing a quarter mile down the drag strip. Would be interesting to see what times you get. Special request lol.
Great video. I'm looking to purchase the 2015 specifically because of the 3.7 liter engine configuration. I believe the 2016 doesn't have the 3.7 liter anymore. This is a drive by wire system instead of the traditional rack and pinion. What do you think of this?
@@quickpik4121 No. When you see Q50a on the back--that's the base model. It's the lightest of all trim levels and best for modding. Just has the basic features. No navigation, generally no moon roof, no bose speakers etc. They may not have used the "a" in 2016+ models.

Doesn’t matter how you pay for it. The dealer may offer a warranty for purchase or the car may come with factory warranty. The VQ is pretty well know for reliability, but you never know what could happen with a vehicle. With a 16+ I would definitely get a warranty.

Sorry I did get any valuable information from this video. What are the historical problems with the Q50 /VQ37? Please tell me something I don't know. Most car owners know that by lack of proper maintenance or making modifications will cause problems.

Hey man do you use premium gas or regular, I read the manual and watched hundreds of videos. It says premium RECOMMENDED not REQUIRED. So seems like it could be fine with 87. What are your thoughts?( for a stock car)
i just got my new one with 69k , 2015. transfer case is leaking, power steering is leaking, and the drivers seat won’t move, now the top screen keeps shutting off randomly, really crazy vibration while driving , both front seats shake, i fill up the steering fluid and it’s still extremely heavy when turning and when you move the wheel the car just sticks in that direction, it’s really annoying. Just my luck. my other one that was totaled at 125k miles…the mass air flow sensors were acting up…the telematics quit working, so map and screen wouldn’t work, loud rattle underneath. back up camera quit working properly. idk if i keep lemons or what, but the newest one has a quote of 6k from infiniti to fix everything that is important to fix.
If somebody wanted to spend less than $15,000 on a nice daily driver, what would you get ? Right now 2022 high prices 🙄. Is this a good choice ? How many miles would be too many ?

Q50 for sure. Lexus has nicer interior materials but the performance of the Q50 is better. It’s difficult to combine the 2015-2017 tho because as you know the engine platform of the 16 and 17 is different and separates it even further. Awesome!!
NA V6 will always be much more reliable than any turbo 4 or turbo 6 cyl with direct injection.
Pretty much. Any time you add forced induction-even from factory-adds to chances of problems. Improvements are being made though!

Same visit noise still present and the find the steering rack loose and bent so have to be replace. Repairs done still clunking. They find that the transfer case is now the issue cars now been in the shop for 3 going on 4 weeks. Lucky enough I still have warranty so if I hadn't this would of broke me beyond measure. So something for others to be on the look out for.
Good input! But it does sound a bit like the shop had misdiagnosed some things and were focusing on repairing symptoms rather than causes. Hope all is resolved for you soon!!
You should try a different shop.
Interesting that you and boost in motion came out with videos at th same time
For real? I haven’t been over to his channel for a bit.
Yep. And don’t forget them galley gasket for us pre 13 and up vq37 cars 😂

5 year owner with 65k km, not a single problem
Great feedback!
I had the VQ37 fail at highway speed at around 30k miles, in my 2015 Q50. Valve spring broke, valve fell into cylinder. Engine was replaced under warranty. I was surprised and embarrassed because I had purchased the vehicle specifically for its anticipated reliability:/
That’s very unusual!
@@SpeedCultureStudios yes I believe you’re correct…replacement was fun to watch over about 5 weeks…drove the car for another 50k miles or so and recently traded for a 2022 m340i. Enjoyed the Q50 for 6 years or so. MY2015 was a very underrated car.
I bought my infinity off of a guy that let it sit for about a year Had tons of issues Just sold it today
Another informative video! Thank you!
I appreciate you watching, Geo!
After listening to the vid I totally agree with your assessment. I own a G35... A M35... A G 35x. No problems
Appreciate the support!
Pierre Lataillade my 2006 g35 coupe with 161k got it brand new 13 years ago still running strong ..

Strongly considering trading my challenger R/T for one

‘07 G35 with 240K miles 🤞🏻

Hey man. Wondering if you ever thought of doing a quarter mile down the drag strip. Would be interesting to see what times you get. Special request lol.
Of course I’ve thought about it lol.
I only have 1/8 mile tracks near me so it’s difficult but I’d like to get down the track before winter hits.
Speed Culture Studios 1/8 mile is fun👍🏻
Ralph Smallblock yeah I don’t mind the 1/8!
Great video. I'm looking to purchase the 2015 specifically because of the 3.7 liter engine configuration. I believe the 2016 doesn't have the 3.7 liter anymore. My only concern is the cars direct adaptive steering system. The car has an active recall on it and the driver could loose steering capability. This is a drive by wire system instead of the traditional rack and pinion. What do you think of this?
Drive by wire is terrible. I purchased the base model specifically for that reason...and the fact that it’s 300lbs lighter
@@SpeedCultureStudios wait so only the Sport package has the drive by wire?
@@quickpik4121 You may have been able to get it with the tech package or something in the premium, but base Q50 has traditional steering.
@@SpeedCultureStudios whats the "base", just the Premium level?
@@quickpik4121 No. When you see Q50a on the back--that's the base model. It's the lightest of all trim levels and best for modding. Just has the basic features. No navigation, generally no moon roof, no bose speakers etc. They may not have used the "a" in 2016+ models.
Great Information thanks !! , which years do you recommend ?
There are only 2 years of the 3.7 - 14 and 15. Otherwise best years of 3.0t are 2018+
150K miles on my 3.7 with factory belt
My brother have a infiniti g35 since 2005 he got 336,327 miles on it

I’m trying to find a 2015 sport as we speak for a decent price used since my 2015 g37 got total
Should be able to find something!
Tie Kuhn Wow that sounds awful! Definitely a rare case, but sounds like you should be pursuing a lemon.
Tie Kuhn damn lol sorry you had to go through all that
Tie Kuhn long enough? As far as I know the threshold is something like being in 3 times for the same issue with no real resolution. Make sure you’re documenting everything.
@Tie Kuhn thanks you just helped me make my decision and go with Lexus
My Vq35hr has 279k 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Holy damn! That’s awesome!
Any major issues? I’m interested in getting a 2014 q50s with 90k miles for around 12k but idk if it’s worth it to get a 2016 with 40k miles for 20k
People say to get it with warranty but why? It’s so controversial how people say it’s good or others say it’s bad. (Referring to the 2014-2015 models) plus if you buy the car to own (cash) does it even come with warranty ??
Doesn’t matter how you pay for it. The dealer may offer a warranty for purchase or the car may come with factory warranty.
The VQ is pretty well know for reliability, but you never know what could happen with a vehicle. With a 16+ I would definitely get a warranty.
Love the wheel set up
Really appreciate it!
i went to test drive 2014 q50 sport and the driver seat was legit moving back and forth lol. The salesman said it needs a new motor for under the seat LOL
Tell him to out a motor in it and you’ll buy it. See what he says
@@SpeedCultureStudios yeah I told him to get it fix and to fix some noise I was hearing and I will buy it. I think one of the wheel bearings are about to go. When I went over 60KMH I would hear a noise
@@SpeedCultureStudios the dealership said it would cost $4500 for them to replace the whole seat LOL. i told them to give me $4500 off and they simply said no.. i didn't have a good feeling so i told them no and i passed
Sorry I did get any valuable information from this video. What are the historical problems with the Q50 /VQ37? Please tell me something I don't know. Most car owners know that by lack of proper maintenance or making modifications will cause problems.
Sorry, but the question was answered. Did I mention any major issues? No. It’s not junk.
I can’t fabricate information. It’s like me trying to teach you the alphabet and you saying, “tell me something I don’t know.” It’s the alphabet. 26 letters A to Z. That’s it. Sorry you know it all already.
I get a ton of basic questions from people that know nothing about cars in general, let alone this specific car. I’m glad you know everything already.
Hey man do you use premium gas or regular, I read the manual and watched hundreds of videos. It says premium RECOMMENDED not REQUIRED. So seems like it could be fine with 87. What are your thoughts?( for a stock car)
Premium only. Definitely not 87
@@SpeedCultureStudios cool thanks!!
I had a VQ that drove up until 230,000 miles then it stared acting funny.
Damn good life!
i just got my new one with 69k , 2015. transfer case is leaking, power steering is leaking, and the drivers seat won’t move, now the top screen keeps shutting off randomly, really crazy vibration while driving , both front seats shake, i fill up the steering fluid and it’s still extremely heavy when turning and when you move the wheel the car just sticks in that direction, it’s really annoying.
Hey guys so getting out a lease but I wanna finance my next car, what do you guys think...2017 Q50 premium 3.0t or 2017 bmw 330xi 2.0t?
*Infinity*
If somebody wanted to spend less than $15,000 on a nice daily driver, what would you get ? Right now 2022 high prices 🙄. Is this a good choice ? How many miles would be too many ?
So I have a budget of about 30,000. Should I wait a year for the 2018's with the beautiful new seats to depreciate? Because they're like 33-39k rn and I just don't have it.
If you really want one for the seats, then yeah maybe just wait.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Ok I appreciate that lol. Thanks for responding.

@Zolotova Soulmate i know its been a while, but how is the reliability?
I got my 2015 certified Q50 in May 2017. In the three years I've had it, it's gone in to limp mode five times. Quite disappointing.
Tell me more what is limp mode what did you have to do to it how much money I want to go buy a 2014 soo bad
@@humblebeast8439 limp mode is an engineered feature designed to protect the engine and transmission. The car will not drive fast when its in this mode. My car was in warranty so it was fixed for free. Most of the time the dealer could not find an issue. They replaced two sensors but I'll need to look at my work orders to see what sensor was replaced. I'll get back to you.
@@humblebeast8439 DON'T buy a 2014 as this is the year the Q50 was first introduced. Get a 2015 or newer. Aside from the issue I had, this car is a pleasure to drive and will beat most cars on the road from a standing start. The 3.7 engine is very powerful.
Tony B yes sir honestly though straight up it’s a 2014 base q50 133,000 miles I can get for $10,000 I love the design of them soo modern for the price I’m nothing but 18 I just had an Audi I had to put a lot of money Into still was never okay constant oil leak do you think I should go ahead and make that purchase if I like it man it’s the regular base buts it’s white with black seats like literally the car I’m looking for
@@humblebeast8439 good luck. Before you buy, check for car insurance. This is considered a sports car and carries a high premium. Since you're only 18, it might be very high. I pay $700 for a 6-month premium and I'm 58.

Question: Infiniti Q50 3.7 or Lexus IS250? IYO. Yes I know the biggest difference is 100 HP....but besides that.
Q50 easily. My brother had an is250 and it had a nice interior, but the car in general was super boring
I’ve owned 6 Maximas...clearly a big fan of the VQ💪🏾 but I’m just wondering what the other side of the pond is like. INFINITI = NISSAN / LEXUS = TOYOTA so I know reliability is there. Just wondering which has more of the WOW factor and fun all around.

Your opinion, 2015-2017 lexus is250/300 or the 2015-2017 infiniti Q50 AWD?
Q50 for sure. Lexus has nicer interior materials but the performance of the Q50 is better. It’s difficult to combine the 2015-2017 tho because as you know the engine platform of the 16 and 17 is different and separates it even further.
My brother had an is250 and it was slow and boring but the seats were super comfortable. The 300 isn’t much better. I’d take my 15 Q50 all day.

Brian D no, I change my Subaru’s ever 3k. Yet again it’s a Subaru...had a 14 Q50S AWD, just sold it. Also did full synthetic every 3k even though some may say to wait longer
It’s only overdoing it if it’s too expensive for you, honestly. The oil is good for much longer than 5k miles. You could probably save yourself some and go up to 4500 like me, but definitely not hurting anything doing it more often.

3.0 > 3.7
For power yes! But for daily , sound and reliable 3.7 all day!
Anthony that Has nothing to do with the video lol. We are still waiting to see how reliable the 3.0t is. 3.7 is tried and true.
@@alphav1537 I mean I've had my 3.0 for 32k miles already and have had literally 0 problems. 3.7 Might sound better but you arent getting NEARLY the same performance and mileage as a stock 3.0... reliability seems literally the same as a 3.7.
Anthony Rosario well a Stock 3.0t vs a full bolt on 3.7 will lose! If you start modding the 3.0t you will get issues my friend has a 18 q50 silver sport with 12k miles and he already got heat soak issues . All he did was install down pipes , intake and a tune. I can do the same with the 3.7 and get no issues.
Anthony Rosario to be fair, I am bolt on and tuned 3.7 and get 22mpg and the car also performs very well for what I use it for-performance is relative of course. A tuned 3.0t will beat me in a straight line obviously but all that power won’t help much with an open diff against me on the twisty roads.
But my main point is that the vq has been around for 15+ years so reliability has been established. The vr30 has only a few years of being tested-so having a few cars on the road with over 50k mikes doesn’t tell us much yet. I hope it proves to be just as reliable over the years!
Get a better microphone!
Adjust your playback settings. Perfect for me on mobile and laptop at 40%.
