    If you want to get better throttle response from your impala, I got a 9M electronic throttle controller on eBay for around $55 US. It really works good but with the new tune I don't need it, but if someone doesn't want a tune this is a cheaper way of getting better throttle response out of your Impala

    Just FYI, I ordered that exact same kit, I was happy with it until 3 years later, the rubber started to come apart from around the filter. lucky enough none was sucked up into the engine, I tried to reach them for a replacement filter but neve was able, ended up using the same tube with a Spectre filter. Just be careful of the filter.

    The K/N Cold Air Intake says it's illegal to use their Cold Air Intake on my 13 Impala. What's frustrating is my son has an 06 Eclipse is legal to have it?!?! Go figure. I am not sure about the AF Dynamic unit. I have to look into that. But what I did was take the stock air box out and I used a Dremal to cut away the front of the housing so that when I step on the gas gives a larger opening for air to enter. I does sound a little more throatier when I floor it too. I feel it did help and it visually looks stock. BTW I use Mobil 1 synthetic I get from Costco whenever it goes on sale and Napa Premium (WIx) Filter. I've been real happy with it. BTW: also I checked and this Cold Air Intake is not available currently.

      This CAI is for the late 9th Gen Impala that has the 3.6 LFX engine. Although I'm certain you could adapt this to fit a 3800, I would check ZZPerformance for a CAI meant to fit a 3800. The CAI's they sell for the Grand Prix should easily fit a LaCrosse.

I do know they are important for this particular engine as well as keeping oil changed with the best synthetic oil and filter as the timing chains are prone to stretch . Thank you for the quick response and the detail of the video again it helps more than you realize . Also I have 1 more issue that maybe you have info on both of my back doors will not open you can here the locks working and visually see them unlock however when you work the handle on outside or inside it's no go very frustrating I don't have many passengers but my dog rides with me and he's getting older hard for him to hop over the console to get in back let alone I want to update the speakers and the video to replace the rear speakers shows they come out by sliding the whole insert from the inside . Ok well any help is much appreciated I'm stoked about placing the cold air intake on this weekend and I will also get the k and n filter down the road . Thanks again . You ROCK!!!! 👍

      @CertifiedShadetree  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Regarding the catch can, I have a few videos in a playlist, which you can find under the playlists tab on my main channel page. As far as the back doors go, my first thought was the child locks are engaged, but you said you can't open them from the outside, so I'm leaning towards the locks not fully disengaging. If you haven't already, try manually pulling up on the door lock plungers to see if they go up any further than the lock actuators are making them go. After that point you're going to have to try to remove the door panels. You may have better luck swinging the panels out if you first remove the lower rear seat cushion (there are 2 little handles you lift up on and the cushion lifts up and out.) If you can get the door panels out without issue, look at the rods that are supposed to connect to the latch assembly and see if they're disconnected. You might be able to push down with a screwdriver to get it to unlatch.
      I'm grasping at straws, but I hope that at least points you in the right direction!

      I haven't seen any CAI kits made specifically for the 3500 Impala. I wouldn't recommend trying to mod this one to fit either, as the PCM tray where the heat shield mounts to is different. I'm not 100% sure it would work, but maybe a CAI kit for a 06-09 Impala SS could be modified to work. The PCM tray should be the same (I can't verify that, tho ☹️) so I'd imagine you could mount the heat shield and filter in your car and adapt the stock intake tube to mate up to the filter.
      Or you could try one of those universal kits from Spectre and go without the heat shield 🤷‍♂️.
      You could also get a K&N drop-in filter and cut off the front side of the stock air box and get the same results. Or so I've been told 🤔..

    • @CertifiedShadetree
      @CertifiedShadetree  3 роки тому +2

      You shouldn't have to "relearn" anything. If the actuator is working properly, it will continue to rotate until it reaches the end of it's travel, and the ECM notes that as the endpoint. The car basically recalibrates the actuators every time you turn the ignition switch on or off. I would immediately suspect a bad actuator if it's not behaving like it should.

      It's made for the 3.6 LFX engine, so sadly it won't fit. I take that back - the heat shield/filter assembly fits the car, so I suppose you COULD improvise a way to connect that part up to the 3.5's throttle body, maybe with a Spectre tubing kit. Or cut and weld the tube that comes in the kit if you possess that sort of skill. 🤷‍♂

      Ight I appreciate that I think I can make something work, everything is the same as yours the only thing that is slightly different is the throttle body position..

      You might want to keep the part of the original tube that contains the MAF and IAT sensors and splice in a new piece between there and the filter box.

    Can’t find anywhere a cold air intake for a 2012 LT without knowing how to modify 1 yourself

      Both the AF Dynamic and K&N kits fit the 2012, regardless of what the listings say. The same engine was in ALL 9th Gens from 2012-2016 without any changes.

      @@CertifiedShadetree oh thank god, the typhoon intake from k&n said it was for 2013 and that it wouldn’t fit 2012

      Quite the contrary. I've been averaging a 1.5 MPG improvement overall since installing it..
