@mikeslessons I still go back and watch "Mike Johnston's Fake Double Bass" video from time to time just because the demonstration you do at the end is actually one of my all-time favorite drum solos lol
U got me into drums back in the drum lab days! High quality drum lessons for an affordable price was hardly a thing back then, you must have been a pioneer in that space looking back now. I remember some fire lessons on making it sound like double kick with a single pedal, and drag triplets around the kit for a spicy yet easy gospel style fill. Love that I found you here still doing your thing! My old UA-cam channel still has some vids that I uploaded for some of the lessons lol. I’m sure you’ve helped countless drummers over the years. Keep doing you and much love from an old student back in 2009ish! ❤
Love that this is extension from one you had a bit ago. That one was Paradiddlediddle - Paradiddlediddle - Double Paradiddle - Swiss Triplet Swiss Triplet. You mix both of these together and then you'll really have your brain thinking. Thanks for this Mike!

Oh man, by day 2 of slowing this way down I can finally do the exercise note for note. I had no idea I sucked at flams but then again never spent much time practicing or playing flams in triplets like that. Awesome exercise Mike! I can see using this as a pre show warm up in the near future!

This is by far the "hardest" set of patterns I've ever worked with, but even after only after working on it for on day so far, I can feel a difference even at the molasses speed of 40 that I'm currently at. (I know I know, slow to get fast but... You know... :) Anyways thanks a bunch. Looking forward to more content and considering masterclasses when money gets better.

I’m not sure. We made this prototype (Aquarian and me) right before COVID and then things got put on hold for obvious reasons. Maybe it’s time to revisit the idea :)
@@tobiaswinter1358 Kinda. It’s not quite as dead, but it was designed to be the “quite” side for when I practice in hotels. So, one side for focusing on your clarity, and the other side for not driving everyone around you crazy, LOL
@@mikeslessons interesting idea! I don't like pads that have two polar opposite playing surfaces, I don't wanna go from one extreme to the other. May I suggest a diameter between 8 and max 10 inches? You aim for the center anyway, portability is key and I don't think snare stand compatability is really necessary...
Thank god that’s not correct. We wouldn’t have punk rock, gospel shout, be-bop, up tempo swing, train beats, drum’n bass, or a ton of other genres if it was. Speed is 100% relative to the genre and the song. Some styles of music require speed and some don’t. Groove on the other hand needs to be present no matter what the genre. Hope this helps :)
