File Folder Junk Journal; panel for signatures and insert items

- This is definitely a create-and-alter-on-the-fly video, but it shows the next steps in creating the file folder journal. In this video I show how I prep the signature insert piece to get it ready to see in both the regular signatures and the four insert pieces. Two of the insert pieces are the one-sheet-wonders we’ve made for this journal and the other two insert pieces are ones created during this video. I changed my mind a few times, which often occurs when I’m making a journal. Please feel free to ask questions, thank you for watching and happy creating.

Cori, Thank you for sharing this new idea. In the evening I watch videos before going to sleep and there is no sound so my husband can sleep. It gives me the chance to get it in my mind so that when I watch and listen I have seen it through to completion. I can't tell you what your projects mean to me, a retired person in a town of 450 people. Gives me such a sense of accomplishment and what a beautiful project I have when it is complete. I am so grateful you spend the time with us.
Thank you very much for the kindness and support. I'm just enjoying the process of sharing ideas 😊
Try earbuds. I watch videos in bed and use earbuds so my husband isn't disturbed, Cori is the best isn't she
So much fun watching you make, think and being excited!! Just what I needed!
That’s great to hear. Thank you ❤
Love your pages. You are so incredibly talented and creative!!! I hope all your creations are helping you feel a little better. I'm thinking of you everyday. ❤❤❤
Thank you, Pat ❤
Great video again. Totally able to follow you, not confusing at all. Loved the thought process. So glad you kept all the lovely ledger paper showing. Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback and the kindness ❤️
Thank you so much Cori! I always learn alot watching your videos! Many prayers and blessings to you and yours!
Thank you, Sheila ❤
These stand alone signatures will be nice additions for our book. Sure am glad you thought of it. I do like it when you figure things out in realtime, as we learn to figure things out much like you do. I’m really having fun with this book. I won’t be giving it to the granddaughters until they are a bit older. Although, our older granddaughter treats my paper gifts as precious since she was a year old, the younger one can be a bit hard on things. Thanks again for creating this project, Cori.
I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying it ❤
You have amazing vision!! I have been watching for a while now and still don’t seem to be able to come up with ideas on my own, lol.
I hope your family is doing as well as humanly possible Cori, I think of you almost daily and send out a prayer for you all.❤
Thank you. The prayers are much appreciated ❤
Thank you, Cori! You’ve done another wonderful video explaining and demonstrating the methods for creating each of the signatures. May you be blessed with peaceful moments as you work through the coming months. Thinking of you, dear friend! 🙏🏻💞
Thank you so very much. Being purposefully busy helps quite a bit ❤️
I love your talent and creativity!!! I was smiling as I watched you change your mind several times thinking out just what you wanted to do. I have several silverware bags also. Now I know something I can do with them!!!! Thanks
I'm happy to hear that it gave you an idea 😊 And yes, my squirrel brain was fully engaged!
I would love to watch you sew in your signatures ❤
I'll definitely save one or two to sew in "with" you 😊
Thank you so so much for sharing this wonderful video. I love it 🥰 simply love it. Especially when your ideas start to travel over and over and back and forth in your incredible ability to create. You’re amazing and I love the fact that there’s never a mistake because you always give us a great way to make it beautiful 😍. Thank you, thank you, thank you 😊! I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next🙏🏼!
Thank you very much Marisol ❤️
Дорогая Кори, спасибо за вдохновляющее видео, это очень интересные идеи!)) (
I love this🥰 - learning so much, yes it's confusing but I watch it & listen over & over again (English isn't my first language) - saving your videos. Thank you so much for sharing this Cori❤ Have a wonderful week!
Thank you and I hope your week is wonderful as well!
Just love watching your thought process , especially the excitement in your voice when idea morphs into something even better. Sending huge cyber huggle xoxoxo
Thank you, sweet Kay. That hug is definitely much appreciated and returned ❤️
I love the idea for using the long, narrow bags! My art store puts paint brushes in them and I’ve got a bunch to use.
They make a fun and different option for our journals 😊
Great video, Cori. I love the new inserts. This will be fantastic when it is done.
I hope so. Or, if not fantastic, at least fun!
Fabulous. Idea! Love the inserts and thank you sweet CORI for trying the kit xx
The kit is fantabulous! Perfect for a bug journal, of course, but will also work well with floral and other themes. Thank you for making such terrifically useable kits!
Wow, amazing! I can’t wait to see them put into the journal.
Coming very soon 😊
I am so inspired by everything you do. You are so talented and have so many great ideas like this amazing journal. Lots of hugs 🤗❤️
Thank you very much. Your kindness is deeply appreciated ❤️
Big fun watching the ‘process’
Thank you 😊
I like to see the oh wait wait moments. I don’t have those - yet.
Always learn something from you. Thanks!!!
That makes me happy to hear. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing ypur process!! Such great ideas. Sending lots of love and peace your way ❤
Thank you, Risa ❤
I’d love to see you sew in the signatures. Interesting way you did the bags.
Thank you. I’ll put aside a signature or two to share on film.
Those are great ideas! I guess we forget that signatures can only be one page and work fantastically 😊 Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure and thank you!
Loved watching this with your creative process! I've made a few of your one-page wonders from the 12x12 sheets, which was great fun. Would love to see the same idea using letter size sheets.
You know, doing the same thing with A4 or 8 1/2 x 11 sheets has long been on my try-this list. Maybe this summer.... thank you!
It's really great to see your thought processes. Im having a big sort of my supplies at present and i was so excited when i found the Tyvek envelope I had saved, l was waxing lyrical to my husband about how strong they are, I think he may have just thought I was a little nutty! I'm also going to try some of the strong craft iron on interfacing for spine reinforcing. I loved your silverware bag pocket. 5 pockets in one is a great win!
Congrats on going through your supplies and making them work better for you! Yes, Tyvek is definitely our friend 😊
Tyfs. I always appreciate your wonderful ideas!!!❤️
It’s always my pleasure. Thank you ❤
Very nice!! TFS! Austin TX USA
Thank you, from Olympia, WA
Love these new ideas, thank you. 😘
You are so welcome and thank you!
Thank you for sharing your thought process. Love seeing this journal develope. Something I've found that works with fragile paper...I have a book of Shakespeare plays I use a lot to make envelopes and pockets. The pages are thin and fragile. So, I bond a piece of featherweight interfacing to the sides that won't be seen. Have to be a little careful with the heat setting, but featherweight bonds quickly.
I completely agree and thank you for pointing that out! Fusible webbing is a super handy resource 😊
FANTASTIC ❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
I’ve never thought to use my mat to help draw lines. When you’ve drawn the lines on the right, it might be easier to just turn the signature holder around rather than try to draw around your left hand. Just a thought
It is MUCH easier, but I was attempting to show it a certain way as I know some find it confusing when I turn things upside down 😊
Awesome job !!
Thank you!
Hi from Queensland Australia
Hello from Olympia, WA 😊
Love the pocket s
Thank you!
So fun. I think if I were making this and had that cool ledger you had wanted as an envelope, I would maybe make some pockets on it with some vellum so you could still see the coolness but have some extra spots to tuck some things. Just another idea. Im sure if I were the one making I wouldn’t have thought of it but sometimes it’s easier to see other possibilities when someone else is playing. Is Tracie’s new kit fun!? Love it.
Thank you and YES! I often go back and ask myself "now why didn't I do that?!" I absolutely LOVE Tracie's latest kit ❤️
You could create a vellum pocked for the ledger insert 😊
Absolutely 😊
You have inspired 44:56 me... haven't worked on journals for 2 years...watching you I have a plethora of ideas to go on !!! Thank you thank you thank you ❤🎉🙏🏻
Bless you and I hope you find respite and joy in creating something new ❤️
So grateful to see the construction of such an amazing book. I am curious to know why you did not extend the Tyvek to include the fold edge of the inner spine piece as it is a high stress area. Thanks.
That was intentional as that section will sit, glued in place, between the insert and the back cover. The gluing in generally makes that plenty sturdy. And, thank you 😊
Cori this was awesome. You have so many cool ideas, I appreciate the time you are putting into this project. I pay for you daily. TFS🌴💕
Thank you, Annette ❤
Hi Cori! New subscriber here and I’m in awe of your artistry 😊. I’m new to junk journaling and I wonder if you have tips / tricks for using your sewing machine for paper? I scrolled through your videos and didn’t see anything pop up (but, I’m squirrely so apologies if I missed it). Do you use your same machine for paper and fabric sewing? Springtime greetings from St. Louis, Missouri! 🌷 ~Kelly
Hello and welcome! Yes, I use the same machine for fabric and paper and, to date, I've never had a problem. I do change the needle (usually) when I switch over to fabric. I make each stitch longer when I sew in signatures, but otherwise I sew paper very much the same way I do fabric. Even thicker amounts of paper seem to sell pretty well 😊
Corey, if you flip your paper around after you've drawn your signature lines on one side of the middle line, you won't have to draw the other side over your left hand. Make sense? I love watching pages come together so would love to see yours. ~ Lisa
Thank you. I generally do just that, but didn’t want to make it any more confusing 😊
Hi Cori, I have been looking in my email, and spam and don't see an email from you. I have a small package to send to you, but need your address or PO box. If you don't except packages I will understand. Thanks for all your great videos.
Thank you, Mary. I looked for an email from you, but I didn’t see one. I love your generous heart.
