    Sarcopenia is the gradual loss of muscle mass and strength as we age. A recent study showed that sarcopenia is estimated to affect 10-16% of the older adult population worldwide.
    Although sarcopenia is associated with aging, as Dr. Lyon says, it may be "a disease of inactivity."
    With proper exercise and nutrition, sarcopenia can be prevented. Most research shows that strength training is the most effective method, as it stimulates muscle growth and an anabolic state. Adequate protein intake is also essential for maintaining muscle mass and avoiding sarcopenia in the future.

    Well thats Dr Lyons considered hypothesis and personal belief bc as she clearly states, "its her belief". Thats not evidence based - the example she gives are all necdotal. So the hypothesis might be correct. And it might not.
