I was so happy to find this documentary. When I was a student at the University of North Dakota in the 80’s, I actually wrote a paper about Lebensborns. I did a lot of research about them at the time. This is really the first time since then that I’ve ever come across any information about the Lebensborns. At the time I did my research I wasn’t able to find any information about what happened to any of the children born in these places, so I just learned a lot more by watching this documentary. I was very impressed that a member of ABBA was born in a Lebensborn. Thanks so much for the creators of this documentary.

My birth mother was a part of this program, starting when she was 13. She bore 4 children, 1 son who was conceived by an officer but had brown hair. He was allowed to live. Next, a set of twins who were taken away, and then the war ended. I was born to an American servicemember in America after she immigrated here during the Mennonite sponsorship. She passed at age 32 of uterine hemorrhaging. I can't imagine the horror that poor girl went through.

My grandfather returned from the war with 6 new kids - four were from the Lebensborn and 2 were Hitler Youth members that he had found in a well after they were left their to die. They were 10 and were told to go fight - they wanted to play football instead, so they were tossed in a well. My grandfather was an attache to Jan Smuts so got permission to adopt everyone. The young Nazi's parents were dead, so he took them along with the 4 babies abandoned by their moms in the Lebonsborn. One of the babies' mom was possibly 12 and very traumatized - she was very Happy when the solider told he they would take the baby and keep them safe. All the children lived happy long lives in South Africa - they were aware of where they started but their journeys were not defined by it.

Her mother brought her to a lebensborn home in Norway and she was adopted by an American couple at 2 years old. Frida Lyngstad the red headed singer in ABBA was the daughter of a 19 year old Norweigan woman and a German Nazi soldier that already had a wife and 3 children in Germanyy. he fled Norway when Germany lost the war before Frida was born. she was told he had died going back. she only met him well into adulthood. Fridas mother was considered a collaborator and she and Frida were targeted. they fled to Sweden along with Fridas grandmother. so Frida would not fall victim to her own country.. fridas mother died before she was 2 and she was raised by her grandmother in Torshalla Sweden. she's had quite the life

The resilience that is shown by these individuals has made quite an impact on me. Broadly it is termed positive eugenics, which is policy or other actions that seek to perpetuate what is deemed superior human qualities usually through an establish social hierarchy. Here the term racial hygiene is also appropriate, which is a more extreme version of positive eugenics focused on believed/perceived differences between races. Neither has any place in a civil society.

I'm first generation born here in America on my dad's side. He was originally born in East Germany before my family fled to the West. They became legalized citizens when they entered the United States through Ellis Island.
Prior to that, my grandfather was forced to participate in the war for Hitler and thank God became a prisoner of war by the United States. However, my grandmother was left in Germany with four small children. At one point she couldn't even afford to feed them and had to put them in an orphanage for a short time where food was also scarce. My grandparents disagreed with what Hitler was doing so they fled in order to not be killed. My family, like other Germans survived starvation, rape, homelessness, airplane firing, and a gunshot grazed my father's head....
It upsets me to know that Germans have been so hated over the course of the years but not all of them believed in Hitler's actions. They lost friends and neighbors... there are things I found out that have never made the history books. War is absolutely devastating and the children suffer so much. Anytime I feel sorry for myself it is a quick wake up call thinking about what my family went through.... and how many were massacred just for being who they were! I have nothing to complain about....

      @Leif208 2 місяці тому

The main reason why Germans have been so demonized since the war, is political. It actually started during world war 1. Long story, short, when Germany united under Bismarck, some other countries were worried about it becoming to powerful. America was brought into the war against Germany for that reason. However, America and Germany were not natural enemies (a lot of Americans were of German heritage and many Americans wanted to support Germany during the war) so propaganda was created to demonize not just Germany, but Germans as well. This same propaganda continued into world war 2 but also for one more reason. As you know, the far left socialists and far right socialists battled for supremacy in Germany before the war. The far right (Nazis) won. But, as a a result of their loss in the war, the far left socialists took over and in order to win the population over to their side, demonized not just the Nazis, but any sense of national or ethnic pride of the German people, but associating those things only with Nazism. By, breaking down Germans sense of national and ethnic identity and pride (even being embarrassed to be German), they were ripe for being manipulated into accepting an EU. And, by extension, the same thing has happened in the US. In the media (movies, etc.) Germans are always the villains, and are associated with Nazim and nation and ethnic white pride. By demonizing them, they're really demonizing "The West" (traditional, white, Christian, family orientated, conservative people), even though they bear almost no resemblance. Any way, most anti German sentiment and propaganda, is political and can be traced back to these things.

Where do you start with this horror, I was born in 1953, while at senior school in the 1960s, I was taught about WW2, the invasion of Counties , deportations of what the Nazis considered racially inferior people, to the death camps, the genocide committed therein the wholesale barbarity towards those who were forced into slave labour, those history lessons left the entire class in tears, every week being shown news reels, of the liberation of the varios hell holes, run by the nazis, is imprinted on my mind . It wasn't until I was in my late 30s that I heard about, the systematic murder of the disabked & mentally impaired, which was a pre-cursor to the Holocaust. A bit latter I heard about the kidnapping of children from occupied Countries the nazis felt could be Germanised, because they met the ideal of the oerfect Aryan, being placed with the right Grrman families to ensure that ,In my 50s I came across an article about nazi policy in encouraging German women to have as many children as possible for the future of nazi conquest of the world, the placement of these children in state run homes to be fed from birth hatred of others not considered worthy. It seems that record's of these horrirs have been released at intervals & piecemeal to the public so even now we are still learning of the madness of the nazis, seeing this documentary has made me realise the phycological harm, stigmatisation, sence of loss if idenity they have suffered throughout their lives, it nakes you really grateful to have known who you are, where you came from & your family history, even if you were brought up in not perfect circumstances, at least you know who you are, these people are still seaching for answers, will they ever know the full story of their beginings & finally find true peace.I hope they find some peace by recording their lives so no one forgets them & their pain, they deserve that recognition. I can understand now why we have been fed nuggets of imformation in bits & pieces throughout the years, its because being given all the facts in one go, would have unhinged our thinking causing a blackout of our minds, so no one would remember, when we all need to & ensure the knowledge is passed on to the next geneation & not forgotten in some filing room or destroyed, word of mouth an oral history is the only way humanity will never forget the horrors of the past, Just a few months shy of being 71 I'm still learning the horrors if the past, the brainwashing of a willing nation by a bunch of psycopathic, sociopathic cadre of men with delusional opinions of people it's still heartbreaking today ,

  • @touchstoneaf

I first heard of this insanity when I read a novel based on the situation from the point of view of a woman who was an unwed mother who had conceived a child fathered by a Jew who just happened to have red hair, so she knew that the father of her child was in a concentration camp but she didn't dare let anyone know it, and so she dated an SS officer to cover it up, and her child was born in one of these houses because of her situation and her false insistence that the child was a "good aryan". In that story the adult child only found out that whole saga later on after thinking for years that the SS guy in the pictures she found in a box somewhere were her father, and she was writing something on how collaborators could bring themselves to have affairs with these soldiers to survive and get better rations and all of that. Who knows; it might have happened that way for a lot of these people who were just trying to survive, and if so it would be really funny if some of these kids were actually fathered by people who weren't "the chosen"... like infiltrators. Who knows how many of them were just desperate unwed mothers and how many of them were people who truly believed in this disgusting project. I read somewhere that a lot of the children had some deficits in their social development because there were so many children in these places that they didn't get enough individualized attention, as is common in a lot of orphanages that are overcrowded. Supposedly that was the reason some medicos were able to designate them as having mental disturbances or something later on so that they could be thrown in psychiatric care, because they needed an excuse as they had nowhere else to put them; but if they could say that they had some sort of developmental deficit because of the way they were all crammed together in these places without direct relationships to parents a lot of the time so they had less direct nurturing by people who loved them, etc, then perhaps they qualified. I understand that some of the mothers stayed long enough to nurse them for a while and some didn't, and it kind of depended on the situation. All around an awful awful period in history, in so many ways, forso many different groups. (Not saying this is worse than what other people went through;just saying it's pretty insane, all of it.)

Why in the world are you ashamed of yourself? Being ashamed of yourself for something you didn't do but that some people of your same race did generations ago, is actually being racist. I've never heard anything so racist in my life. Why in the world would an American child with a German name (and assumed heritage) bear ANY guilt for the acts of some individuals of her same race from decades before in another country? Racism is racsim, no matter to whom it's directed.

I get it. Many Germans, even generations after the war, were made to continue to feel guilt for it to the point where you were even ashamed to be German (prefered to be "European" instead). Though every nation should learn from it's past, personal or collective guilt is not necessary and can actually be harmful. In my opinion, I believe a lot of the motivation for this multi-generational guilt is political. After the war, by associating the Nazis with everyone on the political right (including those who have nothing in common with the Nazis), those on the political left are able to forever demonize all their political opponents. During the war, the Japanese were probably far more barbaric than the Nazis and of course, the Soviets were equally as (and certainly, the Chinese and Cambodians during their communist take overs) and yet no one of these races or nationalities are made to feel guilt for the behavioir of others of their same race or nationality (and they shouldn't). It's pretty much only Germans.

Except, it's starting to happen in America now too (again, for political reasons). Though no where to the same level, all white people are now being made to feel guilt over slavery despite the fact that most Americans don't even have ancestors who were involved in it. In fact, there are far more Americans who have ancestors who fought against slavery, than supported it, and yet we're all made to feel guilt. Nope.

How can people be so cruel to innocent children?
To this day thousands upon thousands of innocent children have to suffer pain or death at the hands of adults.
We must protect babies and children!!
Speak up for them. They are innocent

Poor innocent children with so many questions. Luckily the families that adopted them were kind.
This video made me think of the orphans in Romania.
I wonder what happened to them after the Cecescus' death and the collapse of the regime. I remember seeing videos of many children in orphanages without human contact and love, rocking and hitting their head on the side of the cradle.
I hope they received proper care and are OK today as much as possible.
Thanks for excelent and very informative video.

I knew about these children and I wondered how they fared in their lives. Basically, they were thrown away, discarded, and then blamed for whom they were. They were the most innocent victims of that insane, brutal, Nazi machine.

    Isaiah 49:1-2
The Lord called me before I was born, from my mother’s womb he pronounced my name. He made my mouth a sharp sword, and hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me into a sharpened arrow, and concealed me in his quiver.
No matter how one is born, even in sad circumstances, GOD LOVES YOU AND HAS A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE!

At 14:38 the narrator speaks of the 'special treatment' meted out to defective children. Ironic that the same 'special treatment' is meted out to the disabled, the old and the sick in Canada. Here they just call it MAID. Even disabled veterans are targeted.

My heart goes out to all these babies as adults now, to have all this on their shoulders after all these years, remember you are all warriors because you survived. Your original parents should be ashamed of themselves. They didn't deserve you at all. My heart aches for all of you Linda USA may God bless you all.

As warped as this program was, I can see a woman rejected by her family and friends going there to give birth going there to give birth. I can also understand a totally destitute woman who’d otherwise die go to a home and consent to be a prostitute for the soldiers in order to survive. At least the men would leave you alone for the time you were pregnant. As for the children, they are innocent. There’s no reason for shame on their parts. If I were one, or had adopted one I’d certainly get myself properly baptized. Who’d want to be baptized into the Nazis or to Hitler? Ugh!

I can understand what many of these children went through especially the little boy, who is giving away by his mother, so she could marry a man.
My mother was a mixed race. Her mother was white and her Birth Father was black. Her birth father was never told she existed. When she was four, her mother wanted to marry a white man who told her that he didn’t want any half bred children so her mother gave her away. My mother learned this at the age of 15 and it was to cause of much pain and sadness in her short life. My mother passed away at 36 never knowing her birth family. I later used dna to find her father who was heartbroken to learn what had happened. He always said had he known would have raised her

They also stole blue eyed blond children from parents, one that you can look up don’t know his name was actually a Jewish child, he was adopted later in life. Many of these children were rejected by their parents so they were adopted out.

None of this was the children’s fault. It’s sickening that the nations did this to these poor children, victims of the Nazi regime as much as Jews, Poles, Czechs, etc were.
