He made a lot of money on the back end of the major movies. A lot of production companies will pay the actor, actress less up front to stay in budget then pay them royalties after the movie does well. You will notice after a movie does well they get paid less or a little more than the previous movie for the sequel to get a bigger payday on the backend. Especially if the sequel can't be done without them then they can demand royalties which pay continuously long after it's released.
He makes an insane amount off small supporting roles and cameos in the MCU! Doesn’t even include his pay day for Secret Invasion. Whatever agent got him on the MCU bandwagon from day one deserves a raise.

I would argue that a movie that made 25 times its budget should be counted in the All Time Titan Group as well. Unsure what all goes into counting as an All Time Titan I know you aren't just looking at Revenue, but Pulp Fiction is not only a Cult Classic, it was a box office behemoth. It was Top 10 worldbox office for that year and one of only 3 movies that were R Rated In the Top 10. 1994 was a tough year man. Lion King, Forrest Gump, Dumb and Dumber, Speed, and The Mask plus a ton of other great movies in the top 25. Had serious competition every week. Hell Jim Carrey had 3 movies in the top 20. Man now that I look through the list Sheesh Top 125 for the year has some heavy hitters. Might be one of the all time best years for quality movies.
Thank you for bringing this up, @Neog2! In my definition, an "All-Time Titan" is among the top 50 highest-grossing movies of the decade. In the 1990s, as you mentioned, the competition was fierce, so the entry threshold for an ATT was $300M. Pulp Fiction fell short of that, but as you said, it made a LOT compared to its budget, so it would be fair to call it a "Breakout Hit"-a term used for low-budget, highly successful movies that don’t achieve ATT status. I introduced the "Breakout Hit" label just recently, after this video, so Pulp Fiction missed it. I'm continuously refining my labeling strategy, and input like yours really helps, so thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts!
Can we appreciate that Sam took a massive pay cut to make sure Iron Man was a hit. After the marvel writers rebranded Nick Fury to look like him without his consent
A lot of acors get paid one of two ways, they take a full payout of a increased salary that comes out of the budget or they take a smaller paid salary from the budget and then In their contract they get payed off of residualcs, ticket sales by moviegoers, a percentage of themovies gross kind of like a commission and many other ways. So while his payout we saw in this video as an actor in his movies may not seem like a lot, this could only be a third of what SLJ really made.

@@jesses5463 Google, man. You spent more time replying with nonsense than it would have taken you to google the right answer. Your generation is COOKED.
I bet this isn't accurate cause juice and coming to America wasn't on here and he started acting in 1972
Thank you for pointing this out, @coreyisaac5334! Yeah, I have some criteria for movie inclusion, but it didn't serve me well in this case.
A balance of fame and wealth
The movie “fresh” was not a flop and you missed a movie “Goodfellas” Sam played stacks.
Sorry about missing Goodfellas, @AntonioMaseratiGarcia. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days. Btw, the "Fresh" label says "Semi Hit" do you agree with that?
A couple movies were missing, but they weren't bug deals i don't think
Coming to America, Goodfellas, Menace II Society, True Romance were some of the big movies, but small roles.
Insane he was a multi millionaire before they even got to the 2000’s 😂
Thats so crazy xxx state of the union was a flop, anybody else thinks that movie back then on tv was one of the best, it was getter than vin diesel one imo by a mile
Over a TRILLION DOLLARS at the box office.🧐😳😳😳.. LET START THERE..💯
Yes, he's figured how to get into all the blockbuster movies. Pretty much made a career of it, and on top of that he has recurring roles in the 2 biggest franchises of them all (Marvel and Star Wars).
Samuel Jackson doesn't headline a lot of these movies... That's why he gets 6 to 10 million per movie... Headliners like Denzel Washington Will Smith and Tom Cruise will get 20 million plus!
Jeff Goldblum next, please.
Nice one, @profezzorx9131! Thanks for the idea!
Not really. Only in the beginning.after that he averaged 10 million per year or more. 2014 he got 20 mil. He made over 200million in 20 years.
I didn't know xxx had part 3
@Somebodys-unc Don't expect too much from it, but it's definitely worth a watch.
How much did he make for CELL?
You forgot WHITE SANDS with Mickey Rourke. Great movie. 1992....
Do Russell Crowe
I will, @Venuscombust! I just pit him on the list for you.
Eddie Murphy
Wil Smith
Jamie Foxx
Brad Pitt
Gerald Butler
Steven Segal
Chuck Norris
Awesome list, @deist921! I'm especially interested in the last 2.
Just wondering if thus is every movie he's been in where is his first movie 🤔 could of sworn his first movie was coming to America
Yes, well, sorry about that, @thomascontreras3650! I used certain criteria for including and excluding movies, but I see now it was a bad decision. Check out some of my recent videos-I'm much more thorough now.
Captain Marvel cameo?
Well, that was more than just a cameo, @ИисусУмный-л5я! Amd he got $10M for it.
15 million a year for 10 years is not underpaid. Thats 100 million. While people who went to college may hit 100k a year. Hes at 100 million. Never have to pay a bill again
XXX wasn't released in 2022.Are these numbers real?
Sorry about that, @FOOTBALLWRLD653! It was a typo-I’ll have to be more careful. Thank you for spotting it.
How can a film that makes over a 1 billion in the box office and Samuel Jackson gets 6 million. At this point Samuel should get a precentage of the box office like Denzel. This is a crime!
All the marvels
U skipped alot of movies of his smaller roles like Coming To America , Menace 2 Society, Goodfellas & tons of others
You're right, @MLawrence-z9k! I have some criteria for including movies, but they didn't work well in this case. Sorry about that-I might do an updated version in the future.
Dang I think I counted more movies than Denzil.
They forgot a movie Samuel Jackson played in the 1990 movie Goodfellas he played Stacks Edwards the guy who forgot to get rid of the get away van for the Lufthansa heist
Missed juice and Mennace to society
Sorry about that, @brickfacem109r9. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days.
I dont feel bad or think he was under paid and also u have to remember he is receiving insane royalty checks from all those hits he would be steaight alone just from the avengers movies and star wars
The trick is that he usually plays a very important role but with limited screen time. As a result, his paycheck is smaller. However, when you think about it, he works significantly less than the actual main characters in his movies. So no, he's not underpaid at all. - Also, the royalties are included in the figures you see in the video.
Coming to America
Thanks for bringing this up, @everythingbitcoinnews7953! I have some criteria for including movies, but they didn't work well in this case. Sorry about that-I might do an updated version in the future.
You missed the movie “Juice”
What About Juice
Sorry about that, @brianrobinson728. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days.
