Worked wonderfully for my 07 corolla. Efficient video. My car was idling so low it would die at stop signs after I changed the starter out, it runs smooth now. Thanks for the much needed and appreciated direction!
I did that and for my surprise it made a huge difference. Before cleaning rpm where 300 and engine was shaking. After cleaning rpm went up to 800 rpm. 🤓👍
Hmm, I nearly didn't watch til the end cos it's not my car. I just wanted new tips on the actual cleaning. Glad I did since I learned about the whole resetting malarkey. Wont be able to remember all that so wiil save. Thank you!!
Great content sir 👍🏼 You could also do a video on how to clean the fuel injectors and cylinders on this car without having to dissemble the engine. The type of cleaning where you just use the pressure cleaners that you hang on the hood of your car, and the borescope to check the amount of build up in the cylinders. Have a good one sir, one love ✊🏾🇳🇬
Thank you so much, I bought a used car almost a year ago, and the acceleration is weird. For example, if I'm coming from a full stop and I press on the gas pedal, it will go then significantly slow down, and it takes maybe 10-15 sec to start accelerating properly. And no mechanic has been able to tell me what it is. Thank God for you and UA-cam 😭
Great Video done by a normal mechanic. Love the use of the dot punch 😊 Gonna clean my wife's Auris throttle body after our holiday. Did my Scooby Legacy 1 month after buying it 2nd hand with 90,000 miles on the clock. My God, it was gunked full of Carbon. Not anymore👍
I used this method once on the vehicle with engine running and air intake hose off, spraying CRC Throttle Body Cleaner into the air intake. Black crud came out of the exhaust.
@@BandiMasha I think it did crud up the catalytic, very mildly though. I put in new Cats though for better flow. Performance is like comparing night and day now. Vehicle is way more responsive on acceleration.
in video at 5:33 on throttle body top right cornar there is a screw hidden in a glue type material. can you please tell me, what is the function of that. and how it help in adjusting a specific parameter? I have observed that changing the position of that screw make throttal pedal response to respond differently and effect the drivability . I have an issue of poor idling. throttle body is cleaned. every possibility has been checked but could not fix the issue.
Hey, I wasn't able to see the the screw you were talking about. However, I'd say a number of other things can cause a rough idle. Do you have a check engine light? Any codes?
I have a question, does this throttle body reset itself? I will service my 2005 Toyota Matrix Xr And I want to know if this throttle body can be reprogrammed by itself no need for a scanner
You don't need a scanner for the idle relearn, but there is an idle relearn procedure. Which you should do if you moved the butterfly plate by hand or took it out of vehicle to clean as I did. Here it is: Warm up the car. Shut it off. Put the key in the ignition. Turn the key to the On position, but don't start the engine. Wait a few seconds, turn it off. Repeat the above step again. But instead of turning off, start the engine. Engage the parking brake. Set the gear in Drive. Wait 5-10 mins. Shut off the car.
It's possible. Could be a vacuum leak too. Also, depending on the car, could also be vehicle in need of an idle relearn procedure. Do let me know the cause when you finally get it. All the best. 👍🏼
@@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks man!! I absolutely loved this video, so thorough. It’s a 2005 Toyota Corolla. So I could do the procedure you did after cleaning? I’m gonna clean it next week when the weather breaks for my son. Thank you for such a quick response, what state are you in?
Good question. It would appear so, however, there are general safety measures for working on hybrid vehicles which have the capacity to deliver fatal electric shocks. Because I haven't really worked on hybrids, I'd say you do a bit more digging for TB cleaning on hybrid cars.
It's because drive by wire uses a motor to control the butterfly plate as against the spring mechanism used in drive by cable. Pushing the butterfly plate by hand can distort the caliberation of the motor, could also have the risk of stripping gears if not done correctly and lastly, if the vehicle is powered, because the butterfly plate is motor controlled, it could catch anything in its part and bite down with intense force. E.g. chop off a finger if it gets caught.
I have toyota corolla 2010. can you please mention the default throttle plate opening at idle by manufacturer? unfortunately the mechanic has messed up with the L-key screw on throttle body. now throttle plate opening at idle is not at orignal position. Thanks in advance.
Isn't the throttle body on the 2010 Corolla electronic? I can't exactly relate to manual adjustment of idle on the car using a screw. I recommend should changing your mechanic. Gone are the days of adjusting idle from the throttle body. The ECU controls everything with input from several sensors. Except I'm missing something, it's rather an idle relearn or throttle body reset procedure that should apply.

That Throttle Body isn't CLEAN..nothing happens if you move the ""FLY metal" because after is CLEAN the Throttle Body, the ""Fly metal"" returns to the original position that's why the ""Throttle"" needs to be ""REPROGRAM or RELEARN"" again because every time is ""build with carbon"" around the ""FLY metal"" the computer REPROGRAM the QUANTITY of air"

Golf tees work well to plug coolant lines
Thanks!!!
@@DIYAutoworksNG Thank YOU !!
Golf tees work for vacuum lines but are too small for those coolant lines !!
Thanks for the great tutorial.

You should open the valve and remove the dirt on valve edge and the area valve touchs while it is closed.
This can be done after remounting using the gas pedal to depress the butterfly plate. Although aggressive blasting usually melts it off.
AND put on a new gasket !! That one is tired!
Thanks for the helpful tip 👍
You're welcome.
Does a 2006 corrolla has a iac valve
Just take a look at the throttle body. If it has black cables running into it with locking nuts, it does. If it doesn't it has no IACV.
What about manual gearbox??
Thank you so much

Can a dirty throttle body cause car to idle too high when started? Takes a couple mins and then goes down or goes down once put into reverse…

Will this procedure correlate with the 2021 corolla hybrid?

My corolla 2007/2008 has the same part and i bought a valvule iac to replace but i could not find, so this has one or not??? I have no idea :(
Your Corolla is drive by wire meaning it does not have an IACV. So in summary, it does not have.
What's the difference between before and after?
Depends on how gunked up it was and whether the butterfly valve was sticking. If it was, you should notice smoother idle and better acceleration.
Could this process, apply to the 1azfe engine throttle body?
I haven't worked on the 1azfe, but the principle is the same.

What about manual gearbox???
Thank you sir 🙏

Is this good for when my car cant idle and just dies? It starts up and drives normally, but dies when I stop the car.
This could be one of the causes. They are many. Needs troubleshooting to narrow down.
Could a dirty throttle body causes the vehicle to have low idle and shuts off?
Yep
How to know if the butterfly is damaged
You'd usually have throttle position codes eg. P1516, P2173 etc
How would you know if you’re low on coolant?
The coolant reservoir will be below the low mark.
Why some people pushing their Toyota throttle body butterfly (fly by wire)
Better not to push by hand or at least minimise it.
@@DIYAutoworksNG may I know why ?
Do you mean why it's not good to push by hand?
@@DIYAutoworksNG yes,
It's because drive by wire uses a motor to control the butterfly plate as against the spring mechanism used in drive by cable. Not a flooded car. Some years back it was used consistently on muddy terrain and not washed.
Man , that engine looks like needs a full cleaning job ...
Yea 😂.
Rusty yup
my friend my car only vibrates when go in drive why could this be
It could be engine mounts especially if there's a clunck. Could also be drivability issues. Is the check engine light on? Any codes?

You'll need to scan the car to get a better picture of the problem. Are you able to do that?
Please since i service my throat body my RPM is higher
That will normally happen. You need to do the idle relearn procedure for the car
🤣
First disconect the hoses and conectors.
I prefer doing it the other way round for having the bolts for plugs for the hoses.
