I am just a single engine Private Pilot, so I really enjoy your videos, they are educational for "flight simmers", I don't quite have my MSFS 2020 setup yet, but when I do, your videos would have prepared me. I love the Boeing 737-800/700 and the 600. Loved the Area 51 video. Downwind timing from abeam downwind threshold - 3 sec/100' of circuit altitude corrected for wind. 2000' circuit = 66 sec to base turn (still air). Hence you were high by flying 45 sec. (UK large 737 operator).

    Finally got around to practicing the traffic pattern today. Amazing tutorial, all the right references to know.👌 Small question on flap speeds, I don't believe it was discussed in one of your tutorials, but the way I'm caclulating the correct speed per flap setting is (as derived from your references in this video): V = (flaps 15 speed from FMC) +5kts - (flap angle - 15 deg)*kts. so flap speed 25 is 134 kts if 15deg flap speed is 139 kts. No idea if this works for higher gross weights though; Any thoughts?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Рік тому +1

      Hi Twan,
      you can make your life easier: Flap speeds are based on Vref40 (Vref at Flaps 40).
      Flaps UP: Vref40+70
      Flaps 1: Vref40+50
      Flaps 5/10: Vref40+30
      Flaps 15: Vref40+20
      Flaps 30: Vref40+8

    Hi Emanuel - I've got a quick question.... When on the descent in the latter stages of the approach, I notice that the engines idle at around 35% N1 which seems pretty high. This high idle only drops to a more normal 23% or so after touchdown. As a result slowing down when high on the approach is a real challenge. Is this true to life? Why does it idle at such a high 35% in flight? Is the PMDG thrust model correct and accurate? Many thanks, and love your videos.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  Рік тому

      That's normal indeed. The reason we have approach idle is that if you'd let the engine spool all the way to ground idle they'd take forever to spool up. Look at the Fenix, the Fenix engines are definitely taking much too long to spool up. That's what I'd expect if they weren't in approach idle.

    • @ArnoldAaron

      Sadly, I experienced a crash right know in the 2nd sector. EDDL-LIPZ-EDDL. Its always crashing in the 2nd sector. Maybe I will try to safe at the gate and restart MSFS to see if that will help.
      Updated my Windows to the newest Version and all that.
      The last week when I switched online data off, I have flown 4 legs at once without a ctd or frame loss. Or like 3h flights. No problem at all.
      The eventviewer is only showing MSFS.exe as the problem. So nowhere to search really. Suckes a lot.

      No, he'll say "my thrust" and will do it. But not say anything like it.
