This was so different to watching to one of your normal streams. There is so much input/overviewing that a pilot has to make - I didn't realise that it's so intense. You make it look effortless on your streams so well done cpt!
Thanks Paul, a lot more going on during a Raw Data, you do need to keep your eyes moving to make sure everything stays stable throughout the approach! Comes naturally after a while! All the best 😊 FD2S
Does anyone ever feel like they can actually fly a real B738 incase of an emergency just by watching Flightdeck2sim's videos or am I the only one tripping.
It looks effortless in the sim but they have gone through intense training to pilot this airplane and don't even think about that emergency or you're dead 😂
I think most people have taken over the controls after the entire flight crew have been 'taken ill'. This usually happens after a glass or two of wine.
Completely fascinating! The description of what you're doing, thinking about (and thinking ahead), where you're looking and why gives a really good feel for the workload during landing. Love your channel, it's always a 'must see' event when something new arrives!
In this example I attempted to record this tutorial in the PMDG 737 but I struggled to hand fly the ILS Raw Data accurately with the Tobii Eye Tracker, especially the level segment whilst configuring, landing and the flare. It was stabilised but I found myself fighting the plane to get it to do what I wanted it to do. I think it was more down to the eye tracker and the distraction of the blue blob! Switching to the MOD I found it considerably easier for one reason, the MOD you can trim the aircraft and set the thrust and then you only need to make small inputs, just like in the real aircraft when flying in these sort of calm smooth conditions. PMDG 737 is the overall better package but handling in the MOD is considerably more realistic, even in XP12 where the FM is still being refined! FD2S
In your x plane videos I notice that the overall resolution of your game is very sharp and realistic. Is there an addon or plugin for better resolution in x plane or is it something else, like monitor resolution? Just asking becasue my x plane 11 and 12 visuals are good, its just that objects and lines that are farther away are very jagged. Loving the videos!
Really interesting to watch. I noted you know the expected thrust requirements for speeds at certain flap levels, is that something you have just naturally absorbed over your flying career or is that something that a new pilot would be expected to know as memory items from the get-go? Thanks
Glad you like them Chris and I remember your name popping up on many of my older tutorials, always looking for things people will find interesting :-) FD2S
Guys, did you hear about Emanuel the 737Ng Driver ? He's going Airbus. The Fenix must be really good lol. I think this explains why we haven't had any new videos from flightdeck2sim. He must be doing his type rating on the Airbus.
Nice video! I fly real A320 but principles are the same. Tbh my flare has really improved when I stopped shifting my view towards the end of the runway. I think I assess flare height by looking closer more or less where you were looking according the to eye tracker. Then after flare has started probably I look slightly at distance….
Hey can you do a video on stall warning on takeoff? A real one and one with a false alarm diagnoses? I just watched a video where the pilots got a warning on takeoff at like 500 or 1000 feet and id like to see your analysis of whether its a real alarm or not. Thanks in advance!
Hi there! This is a Raw Data ILS, it's instrument flying with no guidance whatsoever and an important skill for pilots to develop during training. It's a skills test requirement to fly a Raw Data ILS and you must not exceeds certain limitations. For this video I wanted to demonstrate what you need to look at when flying ILS (no FD's) FD2S
Once more, an absolutely brilliant tutorial. Watching the scan and listening to your commentary makes me realise just how much I need to learn and practise. Thank you!
I believe you can setup a stretch view in your GPU control panel to stretch your one screen view across all 3 screens. also, you have to configure for bezel correction then you should be good.
The Tobii was a great replacement for my trackIR. The Tobii isn't light sensitive and the freedom from wearing a hat and the reflectors was a huge bonus.
This is one of those videos you need to watch when you think you know it all 😂 Impressive to watch. One question.... Is flying a plane like driving a car, in that when you're learning, it feels like you'll never get it, but it eventually becomes second nature and you get to a point where you don't feel like you're even thinking, or do you always feel like you're having to concentrate intensely?
Cheers Mr Fister! 😆 Sort of yes and no! Over time you get more comfortable but you are occasionally exposed to conditions where you do need to concentrate more (strong winds, single engine, windshear etc) and you might have to be quite positive with your controls which you obviously don't have to worry about in a car. FD2S
Well that depends on how quickly you twiddle the MCP knob! It's a rotary knob and not one you hold in position like the MINS selector. If you're quick maybe 3-5 seconds, I've never timed it! FD2S
Very informative video. I'm glad you explained that the tracker blob wasn't actually positioned at the end of the runway where your eyes were. I've heard that technique for landing the 737 from many pilots. Cheer Capt!
Cheers Cade! It's the same for all aircraft, it helps you judge the closure rate so you can adjust the amount of back pressure during the flare. The blob was pretty much looking where I was right up to the landing, it was probably an inch too high on my monitor as soon as I looked towards the end of the runway and I really wanted to point that out. FD2S
Oooo er. With the best will in the world I don't think i could do that. I know I focus too much on one thing (whatever that may be today). Nice thanks, a great demo.
Hi Abdullah, thanks for the feedback. The blue circle is the point behind this video, to show viewers exactly what I’m looking at, it won’t be on for normal videos/streams :-) FD2S
Is the ballooning upon application of flaps also simulated in the pmdg or no. Actually, overall for realism do you recommend the zibo for xp12 or pmdg for msfs?
It is, the PMDG 737 is really good at replicating pitch and power and the response to control inputs is realistic. I did in fact try recording the approach in the PMDG but I just don’t like the feeling during the flare/touchdown and it’s a little bit twitchy despite playing with the sensitivity, jumped into the MOD and it felt like the real thing, testament to the years of input from the team! FD2S
@@flightdeck2simthanks for the feedback, i think thats not even the fault of pmdg but more the fault of microsoft, they need to sort out the twitchy rudder and weird twitchy controls. Hopefully over time that mod will also improve so we can enjoy the graphics of the sim too! Again thanks for the reply and keep doing what you do, your videos and streams are a great resource to us inexperienced flight simmers.

It’s my toxic trait
Flying a plane IRL is MUCH different. The vastly different feeling of the flight controls and sensory overload at first make it very difficult.
I do love watching these shorter tutorials the best, as I find them to be the most rewarding educationally. Do keep 'em coming Captain FD2S !

Quick question, in your personal opinion, why do you choose X-PLANE 12 over MSFS for your videos?

Sorry maybe a stupid question, does anyone know where to get the latest version of the Zibo? Seems like the Google drive is dead? Thanks!
I have not seen any tutorials on Tobii calibrations for X-Plane. I see a lot for MSFS
What Kind of addon is that measuring the landing performance?
hi there, i see you are using an another version of zibo 737. How can I also get it?
hi how did you get the mode control dial on the throttle to work with the zibo mod
Great video! I'm instrument rated and this really gives me some valuable info. Thank you!

How do you use the mouse with the left hand? I'm even left handed and I'll never hit anything using my, uh "right" hand. 🤔
2023 and you are still using X-Plane...
Yes that’s correct! Any reason why I shouldn’t?

Can we all just appreciate how good looking z plane 12 is getting, I hope that'show it is in vanila mode
Why would you turn off the FD on an ILS App?
To practice and demonstrate in the video a Raw Data ILS, the act of flying without the use of flight directors is important.
FD2S
Hi Captain, thanks for this video really helped me, what are your sensitivity settings for zibo? I feel like mines are a little bit off.

That was very interesting and cool to watch thanks captain!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for more Zibo content, it still seems like your best "fit" to be honest.
MSFS landing physics and ground handling are not good enough for tutorials, the rudder looks digital, the nose moving instantly with any rudder input.
NG 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Landings on XP 12 looks really realistic
Aircraft behaviour throughout the flare, touchdown and rollout are very realistically modelled in XP
