The real fun isn't winning, it's being responsible for a new page in the rulebook.
"Robots must not randomly fling themselves across the arena at dangerous velocity". Seriously, I'm amazed Depth Charge was allowed to compete. Safety rules would prevent it from competing in a lot of competitions.

Depth charge has caused more damage to the arena than i've ever seen a bot do EVER in the arena.
because the floor was wooden. the battlebots have thick steel floor.
Lmao I know of a different competition where a wooden floor was damaged a lot worse, although i think their floor was thinner. If you want to see it, it is at 6:45:55 in a livestream called "Motorama Robot Conflict 2023 - Day 1" by a channel called Robot Conflict.

I love how Depth charge just chills for a second before spinning up his wheels and deciding he writes the rules of physics and is going to be over here now
This seems like the ideal matchup type (in terms if entertainment, it was very one-sided) for a bot as chaotic, powerful, and difficult to control as Depth Charge.
In James vs. Depth Charge, there was a large portion of the match where James just hovered out of reach, and Depth Charge was unlikely to hit anything if James didn't come for it.
Here, there's just targets everywhere. It helps that Crashfest was being ultra-aggressive, even pushing other bots into the fight.
"What happened to accuracy over speed?"
"There are many targets. You will not miss!"
That's the chaotic content and high level of participant endangerment BattleBots are too cowardly to provide

@@shadowlordalphaThe lexan is double layered and even depth charge couldn't get through both layers in one go. Nobody was at any real risk here unless you want to count any of those robots or the arena as a person, because then nine people were at great risk of serious damage
Is there a person controlling Depth Charge or do they just turn it on and let it play electric football style
There's a one way bristle drive and the robot is unbalanced to one side. By changing the centrifugal force via changing the season speed, they can control the movement a tiny bit.
It functions kind of like a flywheel, increase speed. It turns I think to the right decrease speed it turns I think to the left (That could be reversed. I'm not sure) but then the moment it gets off angle from literally anything at that point the movement is completely uncontrolled cuz once that weapon touches the ground. The robot will go flying and from that moment until it is done flying there is no predictability in the movement
Absolute hilarity. Thank you to all who sacrficed their machines for this.
I think all the participants had already lost but stuck around particularly for this chaos because depth charges operator was having kids and wanted to be there for them but wanted one last send-off

This is essentially the the robot battler equivalent of when the protagonist in a shonen powers up then launches from the air and misses living a giant crater.
The fact that some of the small bots took a hit and are still able to move is honestly amazing
the fact there were still some bots that could move around after depth charge is amazing!
i love how crashfest just kept getting in with no respect at all for depth charge

Agreed. The fact there was at least 3 surivors in this bout surprises me, but the fact Crashfest survived didn't surprise me. It puts DUCK! to shame.

2:45 OH GOD I'M GETTING FLASHBACKS... well at least it wasn't the wall that got demolished this time, but instead the floor and CRASHFEST, MY BOY, WHAT HAPPENED TO- oh yeah, Depth Charge happened.
The amazing thing is that, in the pits after the fight, Crashfest's builder plugged its batteries back in, and all its systems worked fine! It's a really tough bot.

holy crap. this might be one of the most epic robot battles of all time. sending the first guy flying straight into the camera and cracking the glass. then tearing across the arena like a saw blade against the wood floor and immediately dropping the hammer of thor on top of the bot and seemingly leaving only a splittered cratered where it stood. WOW

kind of sucks how depth charge couldn't defeat the beetleweights by themselves without the house bots help multiple times...

I love Depth Charge insane power but I agree that it needs a real way to move, its more of a chainsaw let loose in the arena than an actual bot. And if they keep making bots like this, they'll eventually get matched up and theyll just destroy the floor and walls rather than fight eachother.

I wish the announcers wouldn't scream every time the robots touch each other. I know they are trying to make it more exciting than it is, but not every touch is a killing blow.

Depth charge was never designed to actually do much, it relies solely on pure luck that centrifugal forces and dumb enemy controls lead them to the weapon as beyond activating the weapon the robot can do little else as the rotations mean there is NO control

I really liked the part where they chose the worst possible camera angle for everything the entire time.
