Gina, your technique is perfect for protecting the life of the " PLANT" and at the same time preparing the terracotta pot for paint. I want to do some acrylic paint pours over my terracotta pots and don't want the soils water content wicking through to the painted surface. Thank you so much for posting this video.

Thank you for this video as love to repurpose & just found my medium in acrylics!
Have many of them & know have to sand wood (very porous) & now know I can do the same with the terra cotta pots!

I washed and painted the paint stuck perfectly after I sealed the paint cracked.
I've seen others seal before painting.

Might of been just a bit wet. I've had no issues myself

What is this white 'juso' you're using as an undercoat/primer?

Terra Cotta likes to soak up water. Possibly want dry enough? Try sanding it down and using a damp cloth

Why you gonna do a pot? Just because it is too porous and all salts from the soil comes on to surface, gets inside clay and poisoning new plants if you replanted different ones into the clay pot used before. Not all plants can tolerate salts or acidic environment. Also aesthetic view is no where near even ok. Why to use clay pots then? Because it is cheap, looks lovely vintage and easy to fix. If you want your pots not to crack in cold weather, but like this original look, put any cooking oil on the suface and rub in well. You can paint inside your pots to make it waterproof and leave the surface 'as is'.
Thank you for your great lesson! Was looking for something similar without using oven.
