Thanks for the review. I just received one new today from Hattons .Chromatic blue .Dcc fitted . I thought it takes out all the hassle of fitting decoder. Wrong I've got to open it up remove decoder. Fit blanking plate and run in on dc. Oh well I guess while I'm at it I can pop in a driver . I think the head code stickers are applied on the outside. May I ask if that's correct . Thanks again for your great informative and entertaining video. 👍
One aspect that amused me was that as both the number and the name are unfitted etched plates you can select a different identity if you want. You can buy separate plates for most Westerns.
My childhood was spent watching the 'grockle' train, memories that have stuck for over 50 years. 52 with sleeper cars and Motorail wagons bringing London down for a Cornish holiday in the early 70's. Have two on the layout, far prefer the Lima over the Hornby.
Thanks for sharing Paul. This was one of my favourite Lima models as well. To be fair to them, Dapol do a good 52. I have a nice weathered version in the wings for a future video.
Im definitely a fan of the Westerns. Will probably get one in Maroon although Im not sure what version to get. Their seems to be a Dapol factory fitted sound model, although Im unsure if its a good sound fitting or if I should get a sound package myself...
These are pretty straightforward locos to open up so I wouldn't rule out adding your own sound. Unfortunately I can't comment on the factory fitted sound.
Looks to be all good looks, By the looks of it my motor has packed in after very little running. Light on and no movement. Seems to be a common problem, Crap components.
Beautiful! I love it! Pity I was never in Britain in those days…
Great running session, review and what a model !
Thanks Peter. Yes, Dapol have done a good job here.
Another great review, so much so, went out and got one today. D1035 Western Yeoman, £100, nearly new
Thanks Stuart. Cool, I hope your new Western is running well for you. The bogies on this model are incredible.
@@EuviRail yes, detail is excellent. Its a bit out of era for me, but after your review thought I had to have one, think I will put sound in it..
Great review. Many thanks, stay safe all the best.
Thanks David.
Thank you. Great review again.
Thanks Malcolm

Thanks for that. Yes, the head code stickers go on the outside which also makes it handy if you want to change them down the road. Enjoy your 52!

I don’t know if you are interested in German diesels. But if so, get a Brawa BR216. It has a metal chassis and body. Superbly made.
The wheel on the back of the cab is a screw on park/hand brake, used when a locomotive is shut down
Thanks for that Grant.

I'm sorry to hear that George. Out of curiosity, what DC or DCC controller were you running it with?
