what I loved most about Cassell was that there was nothing flashy about his game, he was just a product of good 'ol hard work and practice and that's what he did every night. He outworked the other guy guarding him and boy oh boy oh boy he was CLUTCH af.
You can see a lot of cp3's game being influenced by Sam. Can't believe I didn't notice it till now. The way they hunt for midranges off screens. Only difference is that cp tends to snake them a lot more to get back to his right, while sam looks more comfortable getting contact before shooting his shot going left. Guess it all makes sense though since Sam was an assistant coach with the clips ...
Sam I Am! I don't totally respect his game until the wolves this point in his career. Maybe because I was so young for the other parts... One of the things I loved about this old School guard. He use to work in the post. Which was so rare. Only a few pg not named Magic did work on the low block. Players Gary Payton, Mark Jackson and Baron Davis. I miss the post up PG lol
Haha actually i am struggling for whether making a video of mid range jumpers or post up for him. Finally i choose mid range jumpers. Its so interesting that he could post up well given his size lol
You forgot to mention Chancey Billups in that list. You are right about the post up PG, that's missing in today's game. CP3 never added that to his game. It would sure help him be more consistent scorer with that move especially during playoffs. You can draw double teams with that move and it would leave a teammate wide open.
He may be the most disrespected player the last 25 years. When we think of what it means to be a Pro, this guy represented night in and night out, year after year.
@@jamesnorton7601 while I wouldn't say either was my favorite player ( though both are close) , it is tough to think of anyone I enjoyed watching play more than Sam and Rick Barry. Just 2 masters of the game that opponents could not relax on.

@@Amick44 he's just a natural scorer. i saw him in person once. he's not a big guy at all. usually when guys aren't that tall, they make up for it with quickness, of which he also didn't have much of. it really defies any logic how he could get his shot off. but he did. great scorer.
Weirdly Steph Curry is the one that reminds me of him the most. They are both insanely great shooters but Curry shoots from further out. Curry is an underrated midrange shooter.
Tough call with Gary. I will say I'd take Sam over Jason Kidd. Except for his ability to push the ball on the break, I'd rather have Sam on my team. And I don't expect a lot of agreement on this. My take, though.
Sam was just a pure shooter period man, that form was butter. And he used to routinely abuse guards in the post. Sam was a beast 💯
Sam gave buckets to everyone. I molded my whole game after him and Terrell Brandon.
People forgot about Terrell Brandon he was dope 💯
@@ineedmine85ify damn yall took me back Terrell Brandon had a lil run in the early 00's Wolves was my squad
Chauncey Billups played like home too. Classic!
Dasum deep cuts there. That man TB was a BUCKET. Remember Troy Hudson too?
2 very realistic games to emulate..Takes ALOOOOT of practice
Loved his game, certainly moved different compared to other dudes

I bet he actually taught him some moves
Good eye
Thee definition of “old man buckets” 🔥🔥🔥
They count too🤨
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Perfect title. Underrated him and Nick Van Exel. Sam has such a classy game.

One thing about sam i am is he was a winner. He had a reputation for getting bad teams over the playoff hump. Clippers, Minnesota, Boston

Very happy for Sam, Glad he made it my daughter big cuz sin. He made from the hood proud of Sam
Ya favorite point guards favorite point guard!
Underrated
I used to love watching Cassell because he rarely missed jumpshots. I also used to hate when he played the Bulls for the exact same reason lol
Sam Cassell is the GOAT.
Thanks for your comment, bro!

Yep. Patient, smart, skilled, unflappable. Has some Frazier and Bird in him.

Original ass buster 80s babies know. He’s your favorite point guards worst nightmare
Sam was really an excellent combo. I believe the fact that he moved around a bit, prevents him from getting his just due recognition.
Agreed
Sam was cold
Talk about a player who’s mid range stats should be 99 in any basketball game. Growing up in Milwaukee and watching him play was something else.
Man this dude was like underrated but he was pretty good
Yes, truly he was very underrated~
Great!
I love you Wolves legend Sam Cassell
Sam smooth buckets

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He was funny looking lol but his game was beautiful. Mid range monster. Shots stayed all net. Swapp!
You could throw in Rod Strickland too. He was a menace to the Rockets back in the day.
Factz
i miss wrecking it with prime cassell in 2k
Deron Williams brought me here! Yo Sam Cassell was a Problem 💯
Thanks bro!
it's amazing a guy that small and lack of athleticism could be such a dangerous scorer.
I think it's more that he was deliberate and took his time to get the shot he wanted. Much like Robertson, Frazier from the old days.

Also want to add it's kind of shocking that Sam Cassell hasn't been called up for a head coaching spot yet.
Indeed
When I first got into hoops,it was because of Sam Cassell and Hakeem the Dream. And I think he'd be a great head coach.

Nice comparison 😁
Funny they played in Milwaukee for a season 2 loud mouths lol
Imo I think he was better and more clutch than Gary , he didn’t have that great if defense as Gary tho but a better mid range shooter.
Sam got 3 rings tho compared to his 1
