I won a Butlin's talent competition playing this on a tin whistle in 1964 accompanied by a resident pianist who happened to know the tune. After that I was more interested in the piano. I'm 67 now. I didn't win any competitions since, but I do play this piece on keyboards whenever I get the chance and the audience is locked in the hall. HA! Billy Butlin sent me a Butlin's Annual and me and my Mum got a few free nights out of the whole experience. Great Days.
Snap, I too was a child back then and like you am now in my 70's. I was watching Murder in Paradise reruns on my PC and in the background there was a haunting tune reminiscent of this, I just could not place it, so I googled tune finder apps found one and tried it, I am no singer and there are no words, and do be do Da did not hack it, fortunately I found another App that recognises humming off I went and bingo,, It was Elizabethan Reggae, it was brilliant, but I knew it was not the orchestral version but UA-cam did the honours and here I am. I have now saved the tune in my UA-cam favourites. I have heard this over the decades as backing tracks, adverts, I do believe it was played ,, was it called the interlude,, when the BBC was not on air for some reason? Anyhow this has led me to look for more oldies of that era for sure! If you really do like this try Andre Rieu & The Johann Strauss Orchestra - " Elizabethan Serenade" it really is good.
My late grandmother had a small music box that played this - I have never tired of it. Great Llover of Ronald Binge's work. Superbly played version of this wonderful tune.
I only came upon this peice of music a short while ago unbelievable it has alluded me for all these years but im making up for lost time i listen to it often now awsome
I love this musical I'm 60 and this music I was thought to do the ballroom dance I remember this would come the local radio station on Sunday evening I'm all tear up memories don't live like people do mom loves this song will always remember her when it. Played
Quite the most beautiful recording of this Binge classic I've ever come across. The flute is simply transcendant. Played with an astonishing crystal clarity.
By way of an extra piece of clarity, the music is by Ronald Binge, but the words were added by someone in Germany in celebration of a State visit to that country by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The occasion was many years ago, possibly in the 1960's.
Love this but then I'm a Ronald Binge fan. I think the snobby world of music deliberately underrated him. Try 'The Watermill' or if you're up late 'Sailing By' which always preceeds the shipping forecast. Simply blissful music.
This is one of the most beautifully executed pieces. The lady on the flute is my senior, while my preference is younger woman, she is truly magnificent. 🌹
I think i was in first or second grade when I heard the song, I think my dad directed the song, he was a school choir conductor. and today I'm 24 years and I heard it from the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, and I remembered the melody
Beautiful music and fantastically well played. It does appear, however, that that poor drummer with a grey wig on isn't enjoying himself because he looks so miserable. In fact the only one who actually seems to be enjoying this is the lady with the flute. Everyone else seems so gloomy.
I read that this music was written as an homage to our late Queen Elizabeth II. What a truly beautiful and fitting piece of music to honour that wonderful woman
Ronald Binge wrote this in 1950, it was originally called "Andante Cantabile", it was first played by the Mantovani orchestra and first heard on the radio in 1951. He renamed it in 1952 the Elizabethan Serenade on the accession of her late Majesty in 1952..
@@Tungusqa As it was written in the early 1950s, it is a contemporary piece. Define the time frame s. XX and let me know of a more pastoral, lilting piece of music from that time period. Music is subjective. This piece of music in my opinion is the best contemporary classical tune written.
Su apreciación de esta melodía es tan acertada, yo escuche esta melodía cuando tenia 10 o 11 años y jamas la olvide y me sirve de inspiración siempre. No le conozco, pero saludos desde Panamá. DIOS le bendiga.
This reminds me of chipmunks frolicking in the snow, orchestrating their own whimsical ballet. The orchestra's lively melody mirror their playful antics, creating a harmonious winter wonderland. The music dances like tiny pawprints on fresh snow, evoking a heartwarming scene that celebrates nature's joyous symphony.
This is basically Haydn's Serenade by Roman Hoffstetter in a different arrangement with some variation and therefore should not be considered as an original composition. Today it would be called plagiarism if Haydn's Serenade were not in the public domain.

Me too
Me as well,
The music is simply ethereal and brings back fond memories of my childhood. Great composition and beautifully rendered ❤
When I was a small boy in the 1950s I used to hear this quite a lot on the radio. Now 70 years later this superb version pops up.

Ditto.I'm 72. My Mother loved this song. She's been gone since 1987. When I hear this, I think of her.
Me too. I miss the light classical music of the 50's. This is a gorgeous arrangement, beautifully played. Thank you!

Most beautiful melody…. so herrlich anzuhören.. vielen Dank 💖🥰
This was my graduating march music from primary school 1990
Absolutely beautiful! Blessings to Her Royal Majesty. A most beautiful queen.
This song is a german song and has nithing to do with the Queen, note it is spelled Elisabeth….. but I agree, this is a most beautiful melody
@@behbear1 Rubbish. This music was written by the English composer, Ronald Binge, in celebration of three queens called Elizabeth.

Music befitting the Late QE2.
there is something very Hopeful about this piece. Maybe written at a time of greater hope than now?
Music composed by the British composer Ronald Binge
Einfach. Klasse😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I know this tune as Elizabethan Reggae by Boris Gardiner (1969).
Very good tankyo
Ronald Binge was a bit of a genius
A minor disagreement . More than a bit … a complete genius .

And as I am British, I can say that.
Stunning..........
A really beautiful performance in music, and the most poor performance in camera work. Greetings from Holland

He probably knows his part shouldn't be there but was forced to play by the arranger/director.
The drunk pilot hopefully call because journey phenotypically thank amongst a chemical pentagon. anxious, bumpy litter
The bloke on the drums obviously ordered his wig from Wish......

it came out in 1952 the start of the new elizabethen age

This was maybe the first classical pieces of music my dear late father introduced me to. Such a sweet simple melody. I loved it then and still do!
If this isn't the best contemporary classical tune ever written, I don't know what is
Spot on
Agree 100%
You need to listen to a lot of "classical" music from the s. XX to be able to affirm that.

Beautiful tune.
Simply magnificent. A beautiful piece of music, so melodic and so well arranged. Music fans everywhere will salute you!
SENSATIONAL ❤
beautiful performance and arrangement lovely melody
The strings play the melody and then the flute comes in to emphasize it...gorgeous. Ronald Binge wrote some beautiful melodies, a tonal genious.
I have loved this beautiful composition for more than fifty years and it gives me the indescribable joy every time I listen to it. Alleluia!!😅
Simply mind blowing..! The way she held the orchestra with her playing, was AWESOME...
I have to listen to this masterpiece, every two days, for I like to have it listen anew. Ain';t there like "two love switches I could do..?
At 2.15 trying to figure out, where I fit in...
