Have just been given one. It was used in a model boat in the 40's, flywheel, propellor and all. It's seized and has not been run since 70 odd years. When I have time, i will get it unseized, stripped and started.
Hi BrianJust acquired my E.D. Mk. 2 Penny Slot. Very good order, all original and unmolested, except for leaky compression. The box is original and disintegrating before my eyes.I will "cherry bomb" and gently lap the piston to re-establish good seal.Penny Slots just ooze character, and are so easy to start and adjust.
I love seeing these grand old machines running. Can anyone point me towards plans/dimensions for the fuel cut-off lever please? I need to make one for one of these engines. I could make something that works but if I'm going to it would be nice to get it right. Thanks 😊
Sorry I can't help you. I don't know of any drawings, etc. One possible solution would be to get your hands on another one that you could copy. Another solution would be to ask Mike Crisp, in the UK, to make one. He may well have a pattern. He is on eBay as "popular1956".
Mr cox, where can I buy fuel for my EDmk2 penny slot? Or the ingredients to mix my own in AUS? Also could recommend where I may acquire a replacement fuel tank or something suitable for the use on my mk2?
Hi James, Sorry I've taken so long to reply! I can't help you concerning the fuel tank. It's the old story of "you find a lot more engines without tanks, than tanks without engines"! Concerning the fuel, I'm a very long way from Oz! The best idea would be if you could go onto Facebook, and ask any of the people on this page... it's a group of model diesel lovers. Link: facebook.com/search/top/?q=cowra%20oily%20hand%20weekend. Or you can just search for Cowra Oily Hand. Those guys will be very pleased to help.
Hi JM, Sorry I take so long to reply. We had serious flooding here last Spring, and I'm only just getting back to normal. I look forward to seeing an engine video. I liked your Tomboy video.
I used to have an ED Comp in my Etherial Lady back in the 1940s?
It was a good engine. Also had a Mills1.3 and a Amco .87.
Happy days.
Thanks for your comment. I agree entirely.
One of the great joys of my life is just playing with these old engines, and occasionally flying one.

Nice one, Brian. Like jokes and us, the old ones are the best!
Thank you Sir. I agree entirely!
