Why not do a full learning game on the channel? There are plenty of people interested in wap that haven't played it and would probably appreciate a full run through.
I'd go so far as to say there'd be demand so a "getting started with WAP" series of maybe 1000 point games to show people a reasonable way to get into things!

I know you were being funny, but your comments saying " he swats infantry and doesn't die, and don't try flanking his unit" are actually really helpful to understand how the model will play - more composition analysis in army showcases please!
Spear orcs fail animosity Turn 1, flash forward to completed movement phase and they have definitely moved to keep pace with the rest of the line!

Yep but also he kills his giant that shouldn't have died because the second cannon shot was an indirect hit, so just D3 wounds

I might be wrong but the bsb is a Black orc so the unit doesnt have to take animosity tests?
@@flakukaku9515 They still have to roll, but the BO can smash heads to overcome a failed test.
You constantly failing animosity is karma built up after years of forgetting it. Love the Batreps so keep them coming.
Dwarfs are really beginner's friendly. So really a good army for a first time.

I wish the classic models were easier to find. Always trying to find dwarf warriors, thunderers, quarrelers, miners, etc without breaking the hobby budget

@@paulthetyyppi I had just come across a bunch of those on etsy and they are fantastic looking, thank you! The Sons of Ymir line have some great substitutes. Times are tough financially so hobbies have had to take a backseat but I hope to eventually get some to try out.

Did you guys forget the Gromril Armor rule? It's a dwarf staple to have absurd armor on your elites! Hammers with a 4+, psh...
Lovely to see new players! I am just in a few days gonna finally pick up a handful of paints and ask if anyone has square bases left. I got greenies too, and plan on a lot of boars! I even got myself the Gorbad F. Ironclaw.
42:07 After a swift reform you can only make a normal move, which is directly forward. Sideways and backwards are not considered normal moves.

Great game! Love watching these. One correction, when you flee through an enemy unit 35:03, you just take a dangerous terrain test, not 2 wounds per model.
You are incorrect. Read Page 29 of the Rule book
@@MountainMiniatures Good catch! But look at the diagram on pg 66. It's possible one of those rules changed and never got updated. Also, I don't know if this matters, but pg 66 details a break test while page 29 is compulsory moves.

4:10 I don't believe you caught animosity. I believe you finished your movement and had to reset the board so you could claim you didn't forget.

Did the dwarfs have a RuneSMITH or RuneLORD? I thought it was just a runesmith from the army intro, but he was channeling as if he was a runelord. Smiths count as level 2 and lords count as 4.
Never mind i went back and checked. He is a runelord.

This is purely pedantic, but in the Warhammer Fantasy setting, it's Dwarfs. Spelling it Dwarves didn't make sense for this reason. I, personally, do not give a rat's ass :D
@@tominieminen66 thanks for confirming. I did read up on it. So it's only Dwarves for J R R Tolkien's Fantasy race. Everything else is Dwarf... It seems :-/
Did hatred have some mechanic that interacted with the test to restrain?

Thanks for the army showcases! I hope the rest of the video was fun too, but I'm just here for the models/strategy. Rolling dice makes for great play, not a great watch.

Maybe orks could bring more fancy stuff in their list too.
Dwarves brought a good set of tanky, shooty and punchy infantry along with warmachine support. At least some black orks would be nice so that the more elite dwarven infantry could find their match.
Beginner battles don't have to have handicapped lists.

I hate Dwarves, honestly they have so much advantage going for them (Especially in that case with their hatred vs Greenskins). Range combat has so much advantage and the parry rule amplifies that passive/defensive style of locking enemies and holding for as long as possible. And their melee fighters are very good with absurd armor. They also have Gyro to make up for lack of cavalry and Rune (that can't miscast) to compensate for lack of magic and can also dispel just fine. They have pretty much no drawback.
As for the Orcs, I loved the Animosity and WAAAGH rules in 7th edition, in 8th Edition both are so bland. it's just plain and lame +1 to combat resolution, ... it's so bad for such an Iconic rule for the race. 8th Edition and WAP were designed by dwarves lovers I'm sure.
I love fantasy battle but the more I see WAP the less I enjoy it sadly, the rules has too much emphasis/advantage to play ranged/defensive armies.
