Just came across this channel as I was recommended this video and I can say that this was a pleasure to watch. Great and informed video, with entertaining jokes here and there. Well done!!
I suppose one of the advantages of Sega leaving the console wars in 2001 is that a lot of their games (especially from the Genesis era) are easy to find and play again. A majority of Sega compilations have tons of games on them, since a majority of them are first-party games developed by Sega themselves. Nintendo, on the other hand, seems to be giving their past games the Disney Vault treatment, re-releasing them for a limited time and then discontinuing them after a certain date. In a way, to this day, Sega is continuing to do what Nintendon't.
you could even buy a crap ton of Sega roms from steam... too bad the sonic ones aren't really available anymore for people that haven't heard about it... i was lucky to get them all on a steam sale before they got rid of the sonic roms in place of sonic origins.
@@Viesta Ya, it's nice. They give you the uncompressed roms and do whatever with it. Literally DRM-Free while being legal. Wish more publishers could do this as well.
The thing I hate most about Nintendo Online is that it shouldn't exist. Nintendo has done free internet play for years on Wii, Wii U, and 3DS and now we suddenly have to pay for it, as if the 60 dollar price tag on every game wasn't enough to support it. Just gotta squeeze out as much money as possible I guess... :/
We also have always been able to own our Virtual Console games but not anymore. Add it to my bill Nintendo expects to get payed forever for their old games. I seriously hate the subscription model let me own my games Nintendo Damn It!
Wii virtual console is the reason why me, a kid born in 2000, was able to learn, figure out, and play the old school classic games. It made my entire childhood. Nintendo needs to learn from the past
@@AK-jm1sc I was born in 1984. Growing up with everry nintedo system. I actually missed out on a few earley nintendo games and I missed oot cause I was a space scifi guy and wasn't into fantssy till later. I first played oot as well as bof 2 on wii vc and playing old favorites like super metroud mario karg 64 and yoshi's island on my wiiu is great. I still have my wii and wii u for those. I have spent more money and time on my wii' wii u and 3ds vc then on moderne games.
I didn't even have internet back then. I grew up playing Nintendo and Sega consoles back in the early 90s to the early 2000s and we bought and owned our games. We played them to death if we beat them or not. I didn't like the Wii at the time and i wouldn't have had any way to download games even if i did have one. I was also anti piracy and only believed speed running should be done on original hardware without cheats, emulation, or tool assists. Times were different back then because you could easily get those games on original hardware. Not the case today.
This has been my #1 issue with Nintendo for years now. They will shut down rom sites without flinching and sue you into oblivion.. yet at the same time refuse to re-release or make their older games accessible in any meaningful way. It's so pointless to deprive the fans when we've been asking for new ways to play older games for years. Until they can figure this out, people will continue to pirate and emulate their games, and I totally encourage it.
Honestly, it feels a bit like why now game companies begin to remove older versiosn of the games from online stores the moment they announce a 'remake' or something. Like what happened with Gran theft auto. They don't want you to focus on the old stuff, since they can't make much profit from it, and they might have toa ctually offer support for the emulators they use on it. No, they want you to solely focus on the brand new shiny games, which they can sell at the price they want, and that they have more control over.
I think there's some shady stuff going on with them. Just look at Super Mario 3D All Stars... they made it a limited release game of some sloppy emulation so then fans would buy it without it even going on sale. They even had the digital version limited even though there would be an infinite amount of downloads if possible. Their NSO controllers and Amiibos all are usually low stock even though the demand is high. Wouldn't even surprise me if they have their own eBay accounts or 3rd party retailer that jacks the price up for those products to gain Nintendo some extra money
@@Aldenfenristhat's my theory, too. Supporting old games costs money and time and they likely fear people are less likely to buy newer titles if they can play their old favorites. It's crazy cuz the quality of newer AAA titles is so unpredictable and the prices just keep going up. Greed.
I turned on my original DSi one day in 2011 to find that there was this game I hadn't installed; it was Four Swords Anniversary. I was so bewildered because I didn't know how I got there. I did a system transfer with that DSi and now I own the game on my current 3DS. I had no idea it was as rare as it was until today. I'm protecting that 3DS with my life.
I would recommend dumping the ROM to your PC in case your 3ds finally gives up working. I stopped using mine because the buttons began to fail, alas the contacts were corroded beyond repair...
Especially Nintendo of Japan. The business decisions they make are ridiculous. They’ve had full English versions of games ready to launch overseas, and never put them up on the eshop
Pretty comparable to the Disney Vault tactic that Disney used to rerelease for a limited time their classic films, then they gave them the remake treatment and then Disney decided that they wanted to have all their library in a streaming service with not that much variety.
Just look at how Hal Labs, for example released possibly one of the best annyversary recopilatories of a videogame franchise (including all mainline kirby games from Kirby's dreamland to Kirby 64, extra game modes, episodes of kirby right back at ya as bonus, and many more) but also when they remake or rerelease a game they add more content and upgrade some things (Just look at kirby superstar ultra, kirby's extra epic yarn and kirby's return to dreamland deluxe)
Whenever Nintendo decides to make one good step forward, they always know how to take five steps back from expectations. Nintendo is such a wierd company (espically now more than ever with controversy after controversy). Great video btw. I can't wait to see more from you (if you do decide to make more videos)! Also fun fact for 3D All-Stars, during the title screen video, Mario 64 IS in widescreen. Again Nintendo really knows how to take five steps back.
@@supermariof0521 they're known for not trying anything new with their business management. They use the same marketing and business techniques that businessmen and entrepreneurs used back in the 70s.
another kicker is the fact nintendo has the gamecube adaptor and official older gamecube controllers working for the switch, but you cant change the button layout and it basically makes some games unplayable because of the lack of the 1 extra Z button. some games like minecraft have in game button mapping but holy fk.
Luigi's Mansion 3. Imagine wanting to play the game the way you did the original and finding out you literally can't. In LM3, if you suck something into the vacuum that "clogs" it (you usually shoot this out at something) you're just softlocked because the GC controller can't shoot. There isn't a button for it and no remapping. I'm not sure if there's anything else game breaking, but I know it's impossible to beat the game with a GC controller as a result.
Yeah but the GameCube only had one Z button unless you bought an offbrand one. But even still both Z buttons had the same function. There are official Switch GameCube controllers. I'd go with that.
2:00 It's actually true, the GBA games ran natively through the 3DS's DS mode, which is why you don't have save states. Nintendo was working on a GBA emulator for 3DS, but it performed so badly that they scrapped it.
The Wii U and 3DS virtual consoles were also very good. I wish Nintendo had just combined their libraries on Switch and added some notable omissions, like Smash 64, instead of shoving a digital subscription service down our throats.
Wii U’s n64 emulation was pretty shit a lot of the time. They never fixed it because barely anyone complained. On Switch, it was even worse than Wii U, but they started to fix it because it was a service and enough people were complaining. They still haven’t added proper save states or controller profiles per game tho
I don’t inherently mind the subscription service… on paper, but not having an additional option to just buy them separately too is kind of a dick move Also good luck getting Nintendo to rerelease any older Smash games now because Ultimate already exists, and Smash is one of those “new games basically just replace the old ones” series, at least to Nintendo and more casual Smash fans, anyway (Although, seriously, Smash 64 getting added to the initial online subscription library would’ve been perfect back when Sora got released for Ultimate, as a way to celebrate looking back on the origins of the series)
A lot of the problems here seem to be made on purpose rather than out of rush and lack of testing (as opposed to many issues with playstation remakes). After all, Nintendo has such a vast library of old amazing games that you could go a lifetime just scrolling through their classics paying 5-20 dollars for 15-35 year old games, and just not bother with new games at all. I'm not saying everyone would do this, but it seems to be a fear in Nintendo's hearts, that their new games will be compared unfavorably to their own legacy
well, if that's a fear to them, then they should put actual effort into the new first party games they're releasing, because it seems more like they're trying to gaslight audiences into believing that the modern games are the best option, by not putting the older console versions so that they don't have to put as much stuff on them. Examples of this that i can mention are the new mario golf, mario strikers and mario tennis compared to their past versions, Pokemon HeartGold and Soulsilver compared to the gen 4 remakes, just a lot less effort into content in the games.
I could see that actually being an issue on the Wii U where the majority of the audience was hardcore Nintendo fans, and the user base was incredibly small, so they’ll just play classic Nintendo games and ignore most of the other stuff on the Eshop. The switch is very different though since more than 2 people own one. Nintendo is silly for fearing that if that is a fear they have
@@Bro3256 That is a good point! I just feel like the conversation is a bit deeper than that. First off Nintendo doesn't have to make us buy these games over and over again. They chose to make us do that because of their own incompetence. Also Locking the games behind a subscription service is objectively worse than just being able to pick and choose what you want based on your interest and the switches user base is so big, diverse, and young you have many people who own a switch who have not played Nintendos legacy titles. People often say that adding a game to NSO will introduce new people to those games. That is Very true, but it's important to recognized that not everyone who owns a switch has NSO or will ever get NSO. Only 36 million people own NSO over the 114 million switches that have been sold. 36 million is a humongous number, a number that should not be understated and will probably grow over time, but it's currently not even half of the amount of switches that have been sold. NSO just gets in the way of how accessible these games are for many people, and I'd say they are valid in not wanting to pay for NSO. There are also increased concerns with owning these games since this is a subscription service, you are inherently giving the company more power over the media you consume. Should a game get de-listed you don't have any hope of ever getting it back since it is not something you bought on your account. There is also something to be said about using these games as an incentive to subscribe to their online service, as they should probably prioritize on actually improving their online infrastructure and social features instead. The fact that they dangle these games to us instead of doing just that I think says a lot to how much Nintendo values their legacy titles, and the fact that they get away with doing that and it's very successful just validates their own mindset of hoarding their games and exploiting people with nostalgia instead of making their system up to par with modern standards. It's why there are no themes, no chat systems, their online infrastructure sucks, Basic User interface, it took years for us to get folders. So from that perspective I think you can make the argument that the way NSO is handled does more harm than good for us. but yeah. I didn't mean for this to be so long but these are just things to think about
@@Duskool when you done something perfect is hard to make something as good..also myamoto provably retired. he will eventually if he hasnt stopped fully and there cannot be mario games without him. i mean nintendo will hire the best they can find but its gonna be difficult to make something today as amazing as mario 64 was in 90s
"that their new games will be compared unfavorably to their own legacy" To be fair, they have a legitimate reason to fear this. Their old games were vastly superior.
After seeing what the community has been able to do with the Super Mario 64 sourceports (PC, 3DS, Switch, WiiU, Vita, so many more), I really think that Nintendo could do so much better, it really seems like they are putting the minimal amount of effort needed into legacy games. All of the current offerings work, but they're nothing special. I just don't know how many times I'm willing to pay for the same game during my lifetime. Great video, keep it up!
I sure as shit am not buying any more re-releases unless they actually have significant improvements. Emulation is just so much better, easily shits on Nintendo's releases.
To be fair considering how nostalgia blinded Nintendo fanbase is in general, even when Nintendo does release objectively better modern ports the fanbase will still prefer the original versions what is why Nintendo decided to just emulate those old versions more often instead these days...
@@V-Jes They should've given options ig. Look at Asterix & Obelix XXL Romastered. It sure is a mess of a remaster when it comes to other things (like the slide being slow af and MUCH more difficult for some reason) but, the fact that they gave players so many choices when it comes to music sound and graphics is so goddamn good. You could choose between remastered or old graphics. You could enable widescreen for old graphics or keep it in the OG 4:3 resolution. Sound effects and songs were also interchangeable, you could use modern tracks in old, and old in modern and so on... And believe it or not, you only needed to press a button to change between those two, in-game. They even created a new challenge mode, which some of them required you to change between old and remastered to collect all helmets. Pretty dang creative. That's how a remaster should handle graphics and sounds.
@@MrFusion I never liked the muddiness of Mario Kart Wii's graphics because of the horrible bloom they used. In Dolphin, I can simply turn that off and the game now looks as colorful as Double Dash
@@Adeyum64 That is just getting picky, thinking they should make multiple versions just to appease the few lel. As long as they come up with a way to play it while minimizing bugs, nobody should be bitchin'
I really hope Nintendo preserves more games and does it better, the emulation for the newer games they brought back should have better emulation for the price you pay. Also a Pokémon black and white remake would be nice, they haven’t made a remake of those games yet, I get version 2 exists but the games are older now and they are also very expensive.
What pisses me off is that I'm more than willing to pay for their back catalog, but they refuse to create an easy way to access it. They're literally a multi-billion dollar company. Can they not afford engineers to create a system? What gives?
The objectively best thing Nintendo could do to stop piracy, get money, and respect its legacy of by releasing their own Steam-like launcher on PC that they can keep updating until everything old is there for you to buy, maybe even just copypasting popular emulators instead of developing their own, but we all know something so much sense and intelligence is basically impossible to cross their minds.
Such an underrated masterpiece video you made! Also, I remember I used to own the legend of Zelda four swords anniversary edition on my 3DS. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking about getting that game again on my homebrewed 3DS. I used to have this game on my very first blue 3DS when I was young but sadly it broke and I got a 2DS which came with the Nintendo network id setup and that was about it. Yeah it was a true story, So I'm going to get four swords anniversary edition on my modded 3DS later today. Just don't tell Nintendo's broken DMCA bot/team in Japan
Probably the coolest port of old Nintendo Games they did in recent times were definitely the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokémon games getting ported to the 3DS. Not only did they let you battle and trade with friends in these games you could finally port Pokémon from those games into the newer games. They also included the Surfing Pikachu mini game in Yellow which in the original was locked off unless you did something in Pokémon Stadium.
There’s a problem with the SM64 soundtrack too. Instead of directly porting the songs they use the CD versions which quieten or remove instruments and sound worse.
The nintendo switch is actually THE BEST emulation / virtual console system nintendo has ever put out. Its portable, and you can play it on your TV as well. I have NO clue why they sit around pissing and crying about piracy and emulations, when they spend that time putting virtual console on the switch. it would literally make them so much money. I know I would be more likely to buy games on the switch instead of emulating them if this was the case. its crazy.
I agree Nintendo needs to give people the option to actually purchase the classic titles they want to actually own and not just hold them hostage on a paid membership service.
I'm just so greatful to all the dedicated fans that have worked on decompilations, emulators, improvements and mods over in the "unoffical" scene, currently the way OoT is played through the Ship of Harkinian is far better than I could have even dreamed of and this thing is still less than ONE YEAR old. And there's no sign of development slowing down on this thing either, they keep adding new features constantly. Insane amount of customization, you wanna have the game be widescreen without any weird stretching of the UI or any other oddities? You can do that. Unlocked fps? Extended draw distance so objects don't pop in right infront of your face? Go ahead. Or do you maybe want the game to be like it is originally, running at 240p in 4:3 at 20fps? Sure, you play this thing however you want to. Tons of optional gameplay customization, bug fixes and restoration's of altered things that Nintendo changed with patches to the game if you want some bugs or visual changes re-added. Built in randomizer with a tracker and now for the first time an actual enemy randomizer. I could only imagine the things Nintendo themselves could do with the source code (well this doesn't really apply to the decomp projecst since they basically are using the source code but you know what I mean) if they only gave one little damn about the games, but no, they'd rather give us half working emulators that are objectively worse than what you can get for free on your computer right now. Like take the NSO version of Ocarina of Time as an example, even if the decomp didn't exist, this actual piece of shit doesn't let you properly rebind your controls, TO USE THE C-BUTTONS YOU HAVE TO HOLD DOWN A BUTTON AND THEN USE THEN YOU CAN USE YOUR C BUTTONS. IT'S MIND BOGGLING, HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR BASIC CONTROLS WORSE? Nintendo has been going down the drain quickly in my mind, just look at Mario Kart 8's new DLC, they are literally copy pasting mobile assets into the game that look like babby's first copy paste map mod you'd see in some PC game...
I always found something cool about the visual quality of the virtual console on wii since I was little. Prolly cuz I was like 3 in 2008 and it gives me nostalgia.
I'm still heartbroken that only the first Katamari game got a HD remaster, while We Love Katamari is still neglected on PS2... Why??? The sequel is SO MUCH better than the first!!!
@@rapatacush3i suppose lots of games were third party. they got kilzone, crash, sypro, siren definitely an underrated exclusive, motorstorm, resistance, uncharted, okami, ico, god of war. their thing that use to be on fire when tekken, metal gear, final fantasy and silent hill were exclusive. ps1 and ps2 consoles were the best untill this day. best library ever
Funniest thing about the soundtracks are when your switch falls asleep it stops playing music. So you constantly have to touch the switch so it doesnt sleep while listing to it
Just a small correction: Four Swords Adventures on the Gamecube had a single player option. Also, both it and the original GBA Four Swords could be played with two people, which was still pretty expensive, but at least you didn't need to 4 four people everytime
@@onyxwolfarias6523 This is untrue. The GC version required all players in multiplayer to use a GBA so the screen could show inside interiors without dragging all players into said interior. It's actually really unique and experimental, but of course not very consumer friendly if the people you intended to play it with didn't already own GBAs.
@Onyxwolf Arias Well, I'm certain you either played it on Dolphin, which does allow controller play multiplayer, are misrembering playing with GBAs, or played singleplayer, which notably does contain all four Links despite only having one person playing.
It's weird, Nintendo expects us to give them money when they don't deserve it. And yet when the opportunity to make money without alienating their core audience is handed to them on a silver platter they reject it, bulldoze it and then immolate the remains. I.e they keep biting the hands that feed them while still shamelessly expecting them to keep feeding.
@@wubbers662 because they cant keep re selling all their old games because people will eventually stop buying mario 64 for the 10th time. and before you say just make purchases carry over between systems that means less money for nintendo. the online service makes them more money in the long run
This is my rage with the virtual console and the NSO that Nintendo is deciding to do now. Subscription services are horrible and just for money. Drives me up a wall
it really is such a mystery why Nintendo behaves like this. No other fanbase in the world is willing to shill out as much money for old games as Nintendo fans are. and yet Nintendo just won't take our money.
I was already so snakebitten by Nintendo that I refused to buy Skyward Sword HD, bu now to hear that one of its few new improvments is locked behind an Amiibo makes me fully glad I didn't buy it. Scummy business practices like that should not be supported. Great video!
I’m still upset we never got GBA virtual console games for 3DS since I never owned a Wii U. Especially the 10 ambassador GBA games that where already there!
My biggest gripe of a sub service is having to have a wifi connection to play games that never had them before. The switch is portable. I want to be on the road playing my nes and snes games without having to hotspot or sit in a starbucks or some crap like that. I'd rather just buy.
2:15 yo, you got that one wrong. Actually, the Nintendo Ambassador Program was Nintendos way of apologizing to players who paid 250 bucks for their 3DS just before Nintendo drastically lowered the price to around 170 due to low sales. So, to accomodate the early buyers that essentially paid too much, they got 10 (S)NES games (5 NES & 5 SNES games I believe) and 10 GBA games for free after registering their 3DS' serial number online with the Ambassador Program. The (S)NES games came first while the 10 GBA games released a while later. I remember almost counting the days til the GBA games dropped 'cause I was pretty hyped about them. Didn't and still don't really care about (S)NES games, as they only manage to entertain me for about 5 minutes before getting either utterly boring or just frustrating. They just didn't age well. The GBA games on the other hand were phenomenal. Had a blast playing Metroid Fusion.
An idea on how to better NSO's old game offerings Make the games all separate downloads that are purchasable for $2 - $5 each, NSO Members get them for free. That could also fix some emulation issues too.
Yeah I just wonder why they don't bring back the old wii era virtual console. As you say, NSO perhaps gets a selection of the games for free?. But... how much it would cost to host the games online nowadays? how much bandwith? for just nes, snes ro gameboy... heck gba?. They are not big roms.
This is amazing editing, it feels like I’m watching a big UA-camr who talks about video games, but it’s a guy with 303 subscribers who likes to talk about games, and I’m interested! This is some big potential here, and you’ve earned a sub from me! Keep up the great work, man!
7:36 that kind of ruined the mystery of the fight cause I remember when I first played ocarina and got to that room I noticed my shadow disappeared and then it showed up at the tree to kill me, Nintendo switch says fuck that and gives you oil refinery to look at instead
My man made this channel literally 4 days ago and uploaded an absolute banger of a video. You're definitely going to go far with UA-cam. I'm excited for the next vid!
Something else, they seemingly did care about preserving their games originally. GB games could be played on the Colour, which could be played on the Advance, which could be played on the DS. Then, after the DS, it seemingly stopped. Like, you can play DS on a 3DS, but everything else, you needed a classic anyways. Even now, there is no form of in-built backwards compatibility on the Switch, like there was for every other console. It is the only modern console to have no in-built backwards compatibility, and no plans to add it. As they are currently making money for making you subscribe to the emulation system. Now, with the 3DS and Wii stores going offline, we are about to lose even more of it.
I was fortunate to get a Copy of the Super Mario 3D All Stars physically. It was a great compilation sure it's not a complete collection, and the fact Nintendo made it a limited time run... thing.... Is absolute mental, and I can't for the life of me understand it. Although, I still like it.
You got to remember though it’s them pretty much pricing the disk or cartridge due to its production so they will just price it the same when they re-sale it
They don't care until it comes down to people pirating the games and then it's a huge ordeal to them. They made their money off the past. Like really Nintendo?
in the SNES and NES switch online emulators, you can change how the game looks the same as on the mini consoles. It just took me about a year to find the feature.
And you know what Nintendo? There's been a really strong piracy scene for DECADES, so the jokes on you, we can play whatever we want, whenever we want and you don't get a cent. Get. Wrecked.
Also when Super Mario 3d all stars came out, Mario Sunshine DIDN'T Support the Gamecube controller, but they have fixed this issue 3 months after the games release
the whole thing about Shindou Super Mario 64 isn't just that they "patched Backwards Long Jumps" it's a refined version of the original Japanese release which added rumble support (it's also a very important release for Japanese players since the changes made for the International release carried over to Shindou) and Super Mario 64 was not the only game to get a Japanese only rumble release as Wave Race 64 also got a Shindou version in the same vain where it also refined aspects of the original release
heck the wii virtual console gave us japan only games like sin and punishment and alien soldier (which was only available on the sega channel according to my research).
The explanation is pretty simple: Nintendo hates their customers. Seriously, Nintendo doesn't give a shit what their fans want, or what would make them happy. They target gameplay videos with takedown notices. Someone puts up an archive of scanned issues of Nintendo Power (which Nintendo no longer sells in any form) and they immediately get it taken down. Someone making a free remake of a classic Nintendo game for a niche retro system that only a select group of people care about? Nintendo will stomp on it. Unauthorized game tournament? Not on your life! Nintendo may occasionally make good systems and games, but as a company, they royally suck ass.
My main gripe with N64 on Switch Online is no button mapping. Props to Nintendo's attempt at controler authenticity, but the button layout doesn't feel right for all games. With Z mapped to ZR, and L to L, twisting and rolling in Star Fox 64 feels wonky; same with SM64's ground pounding. Then there's the C buttons mapped to the right stick. They're perfect for a camera, but a pain in the ass for Banjo Kazooie since I can's fire my eggs straight. Same case in Paper Mario; left and right C pull up sub-menus for items and partners, up C displays your status, and down C uses your partner's ability. This too becomes slippery with the right stick. Crap! I suddenly sense how this will be absolute hell on both Pokémon Stadiums! We can only hope the right stick serves Golden Eye better... It's for reasons like this I use Mayflash's N64 adaptor with controllers I already own rather than Nintendo's modern pricey (and scarce) one.
Real talk though, you hit so many solid points. I almost forgot about the weird practices Nintendo did in the GBA era. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.
Bro. I totally agree. They need to bring Gamcube games to the switch. I Litterally play my GameCube more than my switch, and on top of that I own more games for the GameCube than I do the switch ( which is kinda crazy because they are usually about double the price of a used switch game)!
I was kinda hoping Mario 3D All-Stars having an emulated Super Mario Sunshine would mean that GameCube rereleases would eventually become a much quicker thing like the NES, SNES and N64 libraries have been for the past 16 years, because there would no longer be a need to always fully remake the game to rerelease it, but who knows (Also, the Wii U couldn’t emulate GameCube games… but it really didn’t need to, Wii mode already gave the Wii U the capability to natively run them, same for GBA on 3DS, the 3DS can’t emulate GBA games? Doesn’t need to, it can natively run them through DS mode, so why wasn’t this taken advantage of for virtual console?)
I believe the Gamecube era is definitly one Nintendo devs don't like, since most of these games were rushed, unpolished and sometimes weren't even made out of passion anymore.
Virtual Console Visual did look bad sometimes with some games but at least you can Buy your games and Own them forever without having to do a Subscription and pay 30$ to 80$
God DAMN, my guy. This is some high quality shit. If you worked on speech fluidity and delivery, you could be a massive UA-camr if that interests you. You have so much potential, keep making stuff like this and you're going places. 👍
@@EspeciallyWesley Oh yes, of course I agree. It's good, but not perfect. If he perfected it, it would be amazing for his channel. He's already improved a lot!
@@EspeciallyWesley He sounds like what you would expect a high schooler who gets called on to read aloud in class to sound like. There's barely any enthusiasm or dynamic element to his speech. Very monotone, quiet, and seemingly uninterested. The content, though, is there.
I remember back in the wii u era it felt like N64 games were taking so long to arrive on the wii u that you were better off by going into the WII SHOP CHANNEL AND GETTING THE N64 GAME ON THE WII SECTION ON THE WII U I don’t know if I could ever explain how convoluted and backwards this process was to modern generations
I feel like 3D All-Stars was particularly a scam because of the “All Stars” label - the original All-Stars completely overhauled the NES Mario games graphically, bringing them into the 16-but area and they looked amazing (better than Mario World imo). The new compilation doesn’t even try, such a waste of the label.
I didn't know the Loz 4 sword adventures was a limited thing. I got it when it first was available on the eShop. I guess my 3ds is little more valuable now.
Yeah I’m a sucker and I’ll buy every remaster, rerelease, etc. on the new Nintendo console but I am not paying $50 per year for some n64 games I already own on several consoles.

Wii virtual console is the reason why me, a kid born in 2000, was able to learn, figure out, and play the old school classic games. It made my entire childhood. Nintendo needs to learn from the past
As a kid born in early 90s, I'm happy to hear that younger gen kids got to experience these same adventures as I did because of this
@@AK-jm1sc I was born in 1984.
Felt! I dug up my wii that 15 y/o downloaded the original zelda on and had so much fun

In short, the developers at Nintendo are amazing people, but Nintendo corporate are one of the most restrictive and “anti-fan” in the gaming industry
The title should say Customers rather than Old Games.
Just look at how Hal Labs, for example released possibly one of the best annyversary recopilatories of a videogame franchise (including all mainline kirby games from Kirby's dreamland to Kirby 64, extra game modes, episodes of kirby right back at ya as bonus, and many more) but also when they remake or rerelease a game they add more content and upgrade some things (Just look at kirby superstar ultra, kirby's extra epic yarn and kirby's return to dreamland deluxe)

another kicker is the fact nintendo has the gamecube adaptor and official older gamecube controllers working for the switch, but you cant change the button layout and it basically makes some games unplayable because of the lack of the 1 extra Z button.
some games like minecraft have in game button mapping but holy fk.
Ran natively and yet STILL suffered visual Ghosting.
Why not try again with the n3ds
@Hysteria98 The screen output was passed through the GPU to work with the larger screen - a screen that requires different commands too.
They played on a DS too.
The Wii U and 3DS virtual consoles were also very good. I wish Nintendo had just combined their libraries on Switch and added some notable omissions, like Smash 64, instead of shoving a digital subscription service down our throats.
This right here.
They should have kept the VC and continued from there, adding new games and some QoL features like online play and the likes.
Wii U’s n64 emulation was pretty shit a lot of the time. They never fixed it because barely anyone complained. On Switch, it was even worse than Wii U, but they started to fix it because it was a service and enough people were complaining. They still haven’t added proper save states or controller profiles per game tho
@@Fuk99999 what do you mean by “proper save states”? Also, is individual game controller mapping really needed?
I don’t inherently mind the subscription service… on paper, but not having an additional option to just buy them separately too is kind of a dick move
Also good luck getting Nintendo to rerelease any older Smash games now because Ultimate already exists, and Smash is one of those “new games basically just replace the old ones” series, at least to Nintendo and more casual Smash fans, anyway
(Although, seriously, Smash 64 getting added to the initial online subscription library would’ve been perfect back when Sora got released for Ultimate, as a way to celebrate looking back on the origins of the series)

I sure as shit am not buying any more re-releases unless they actually have significant improvements. Emulation is just so much better, easily shits on Nintendo's releases.

Also a Pokémon black and white remake would be nice, they haven’t made a remake of those games yet, I get version 2 exists but the games are older now and they are also very expensive.
There's a reason why original hardware is so valuable.

Imagine Mario saying "An old game? That's a piece of shit!"
Nintendo doesn't, Sony does. They don't even have backwards compatibility for christ sake.
An idea on how to better NSO's old game offerings
Make the games all separate downloads that are purchasable for $2 - $5 each, NSO Members get them for free.

Unpopular opinion: Nintendo is just as vile and greedy as EA and Ubisoft. They are just less obvious about it.
At least they don't treat their developers like crap or a crunch like Those two
I was fortunate to get a Copy of the Super Mario 3D All Stars physically. It was a great compilation sure it's not a complete collection, and the fact Nintendo made it a limited time run... thing.... Is absolute mental, and I can't for the life of me understand it.
Although, I still like it.
You got to remember though it’s them pretty much pricing the disk or cartridge due to its production so they will just price it the same when they re-sale it
I'm waiting patiently for Nintendo to make their old games available for purchase before I even touch another Nintendo console
Again... SEGA does what NINTENDON'T!
As being a third party company
They need to stop simping for fans and focus on their own path
but if someone pirates the old games: NOOOO YOUR GETTING SUED
This is why I run emulators on my laptop and phone (and a big reason why I stick with Android as emulators can easily be found on Google Play.
Let's not forget they also made the only official translation of Fire Emblem 1 a limited time offer as well, because why not, right?
I still want Twilight princess ported to the switch!
Still pissed my Wii/Wii U VC purchases have not carried across to Switch.
They don't care until it comes down to people pirating the games and then it's a huge ordeal to them. They made their money off the past. Like really Nintendo?
Nah, they dont treat their old games like garbage; they treat their players like garbage.
in the SNES and NES switch online emulators, you can change how the game looks the same as on the mini consoles. It just took me about a year to find the feature.
oi nintendo, where is the MARIO AND LUIGI PARTNERS IN TIME remake????
why go to ebay and spend $300 when i can just pirate it :D
Oh, I have Four Swords on my old 3DS. The nostlagia, I got to the last area and could never beat it
And you know what Nintendo?
I was so ready to binge watch all of your videos... Subscribed!
Somewhere Lakitu cries....
The algorhytm doing wonders every once in while!
Wow I didn’t realize you only had 1k subscribers until I looked at the comments good job
Im with 8 Bit guy on this. if the company stops selling the tittles its free game on piracy
I just want a port of Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland.
Real talk though, you hit so many solid points. I almost forgot about the weird practices Nintendo did in the GBA era.
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.
You misspelled “Nintendo treats their old fans like garbage”
Bro. I totally agree. They need to bring Gamcube games to the switch. I Litterally play my GameCube more than my switch, and on top of that I own more games for the GameCube than I do the switch ( which is kinda crazy because they are usually about double the price of a used switch game)!
I was kinda hoping Mario 3D All-Stars having an emulated Super Mario Sunshine would mean that GameCube rereleases would eventually become a much quicker thing like the NES, SNES and N64 libraries have been for the past 16 years, because there would no longer be a need to always fully remake the game to rerelease it, but who knows
(Also, the Wii U couldn’t emulate GameCube games… but it really didn’t need to, Wii mode already gave the Wii U the capability to natively run them, same for GBA on 3DS, the 3DS can’t emulate GBA games? Doesn’t need to, it can natively run them through DS mode, so why wasn’t this taken advantage of for virtual console?)
I think that’s also what “technically” makes Super Mario 3D All Stars a good deal, since it’s about the same price as a stand-alone GameCube copy
Wdym? His fluidity and delivery is already good
@@EspeciallyWesley Oh yes, of course I agree.
@@Frog7609 why would you want someone to be fake and over enthusiastic for no reason?
I remember back in the wii u era it felt like N64 games were taking so long to arrive on the wii u that you were better off by going into the WII SHOP CHANNEL AND GETTING THE N64 GAME ON THE WII SECTION ON THE WII U
I don’t know if I could ever explain how convoluted and backwards this process was to modern generations
Yeah that Sounds Like Nintendo alright
Gotta buy the expansion pak+ to get GameCube games
