I had 2 DUIS in my early twenties. Totaled my car and another car (no one was in it) and was very fortunate. My dad broke down in tears when he saw my car - amazed that I walked away with no injuries. I felt horrible about it. My behavior was criminal and I was charged appropriately. My point - when someone must justify and/or rationalize their behavior - they are 99.9% in the wrong.
