The second smartest thing I did on my wedding day (almost 43 years ago now) was to quit my pack a day cigarette habit as a wedding gift to my non-smoking wife. I've never regretted doing either thing.
@@kelseykaye7269 While I condemn smokers of tobacco in the strongest possible terms, I also applaud those who've had the strength to quit. Addiction is a monster. Good on you :)
@@kelseykaye7269 That's love. Brava. While I still smoked, I cared for my mother while she died of emphysema, still smoking cigarettes herself. My sister recently died, admittedly after a full life, but she blamed her early smoking for the destruction of her lungs in later life. My father died before I could know him. Yes, from smoking (heart attack).
Mom took years to quit smoking (Dad did it cold turkey). She took classes, chewed gum and even underwent hypnosis. None of it worked. She went to work in a hospital and saw the difference between a healthy lung and a smoker’s lung (perhaps cancerous). She stopped smoking that day. That was around 40 years ago… she’s 92 now.
@@hazelparr8461 That might work for lots of things. I once told my teenaged daughter not to do something and why. She did it anyway and, surprise, she reaped the consequences. When I asked why she did it, she told me she thought I was just trying to scare her. I responded, yes, I was trying to scare her, but I was also telling her fact. They aren’t mutually exclusive. Teens think they’re invincible, so you’re right, seeing some unpleasant realities might help.
Growing up there were 8 of us that smoked cigarettes, right along with our parents. I quit 45 years ago, before I had any health issues from smoking. Both of my parents died from heart problems, 2 siblings died from copd and 2 died from lung cancer and 2 died from other illnesses. That leaves 2 of us. It was sad watching my family die from something that could have been avoided. Thanks for sharing what smoking does to our bodies. Hopefully it will give your followers the courage to give smoking up.
only my grandparents smoked, the 3 of the 4 that did smoked have died, while the one that didnt smoke is still living. 2 died from lung cancer, the other one died from pnuemonia because her lungs were shot from smoking.
Does a study exist that demonstrates a correlation between cigar smoking and adverse effects on the body? I ask this because Michael Jordan, I.e., smoked cigars from his college years and he continues. Thank you for your videos.
Grandma smoked a pack a day for 50 years and was fine. Half brother smoked for a few years in high-school, later died not too long after with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Love and miss you Bro
the poor bastard I thought losing at poker all the time made me unlucky holy shit lmao. In high school as well thats horrible and also so fucking unlucky its funny
As a dental hygienist, I appreciate you providing such a thorough explanation and demonstration of the effects of smoking on oral health. I saved the timestamp so I can use it for better patient education! This was so easy to follow and the visuals are excellent!🦷✨
My dental problems led to me quitting smoking weed. I used it as a coping mechanism for a lot of horrible shit that happened to me...developed a permanent Linea Alba as a result. I quit a month and 3 wks ago and took up MMA in its stead and am feeling better physically. I would recommend quitting smoking to anyone. It can be hard, and I understand, believe me I understand, but you just make it worse for yourself in the long run.
If people want to smoke tobacco, fine. It's when they force it on family members and people who aren't able to escape that environment that it becomes particularly vile.
Yeah sadly my little brother recently has been smoking mostly cigarettes, he started off vaping now it's turned into a full on bad smoking habit. He knows it's bad and he trys to keep it away from us but idk. My dad used to smoke too. Maybe one day my brother will have the same strength to stop
secondary smokers(people exposed to second hand smoke) are even more hard it than the actual smokers.A particular reason i can never make friends with someone who is a heavy smoker or a date a lady who smokes.
@KpLam3lasa that Füm thing? I don't think that's the same as a vape bro, I think it just produces flavoured air to replace the hand-to-mouth action that makes vaping extremely addictive. I could be wrong though, I'll look it up
@KpLam3lasa from my search, it's less harmful than a vape in that it doesn't produce vapour or use any chemicals, only natural substances. Less bad for you than smoking or vaping, but not entirely without health risks
I'm still impressed with my grandma, she quit cold turkey the moment tobacco companies lied a little less about the harmful effects. she started back when doctors advertised it and never smoked one again after doing a pack a day for 45 years straight
I was surprised to run into an old acquaintance. recently, who said she stopped cold turkey the day they became $5 pack. Said she sat outside & chain smoked the pack & a half she had, which made her extremely ill, & she never picked up another smoke again. My dad smoked non-filtered, for 12 years. Stopped cold turkey when the doc told him it was smoking that had him vomiting blood.
I'm a german paramedic and it is quite interesting that the average number of smokers is far higher within the medical proficiency (I would estimate that it is about twice as high)
Yeah, I still dont understand the fact that they should be like rolemodels for all people in terms of healthy habits and high percentage of them tend to smoke every day. I know that their job is stressful, but it would be much better if they started to lower the stress level for example with watching funny videos or something.
To quote Dr. Gabor Maté, don't ask why the addiction, ask why the pain. We are all so used to repressing and avoiding our emotions. We avoid the pain and so we suffer the consequences of our unhealthy coping mechanisms and addictions. It's a logical outcome in this toxic society.
I started smoking at 17, now Im 28 and after 11 years of cronic tobacco adiction Im trying to quit, but fuuuuck its hard; this video helped a lot to understand the heavy impact of that shit. Thanks.
Pls try the book "Forever none-smoker" from Allen Carr. It's his second book, don't bother with the first. Cheap and stopped me smoking because he discects everything which is the Smoking-addiction
I started at 21 , I'm 32 now, I quit 10 months ago, coming up on a year soon I feel fucking incredible, there's this channel called addiction mindset, Dr Frank's the man. I binged his videos night and Day when I quit, proper research on how to deal with somatic and psychosomatic effects of addiction.. he'll help u walk out of this hell hole in no time, if u let him that is. First 3 months were insane but it passes. Cheers and good luck
I also smoked for 11 years and just decided to quit for food yesterday. My body doesn't feel too well right now but long term I just keep telling myself this is what's better. Hard to imagine breaking the habit after so long though. Good luck to you!!
I started vaping and smoking cigarettes since my teenage. Spent my whole life fighting Cigarettes addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was actually diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.
I love hearing great life changing stories like this. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (most especially the psychedelic ones) There are so many people today used magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.
Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped you. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source 🙏
YES sure of mycologist Predroshrooms. Mushrooms literally got me off my feet and turned my whole life around. I am currently a housing manager for a recovery program. I wouldn't have been able to do that shit without psilocybin.
Thanks for sharing your story. That's rough I sympathize. Save your health save your mind. Life is better without heroin, cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes. And you have more money in your pocket. God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health. I will pray for you all.
this video should be projected in all schools around de world.... thanks for such a great coverage and powerful speech. Peace to my dad who left us last year after lung cancer.

@@kissenklauer7011 Those are definitely better. If you can keep from actually burning something and making smoke, that is going to be an improvement. I would love to see some detailed information on herb vaporizing though. I am curious how much safer it is.
@@kissenklauer7011 Makes a lot of sense. Doesnt taste as nice though in my view. I diversify, smoke a few joints, eat a few edibles(hash kakao preferably), and hit the vape^^
I think most stoners know smoking is “bad”, but we still do it 😂. Cannabinoids have shown to improve lung health to a degree, so I think that’s where the “safe” to smoke thought process comes from. I don’t think smoke inhalation of any kind can be deemed as safe truly.
Recently decided to stop smoking weed. The impact to the lungs is a good reason but the habit of getting high to combat boredom was another issue I had. There’s so many things it can impact without someone realizing. Edit: currently 7 days sober as of writing(2/3/24). I bought some more stuff and ran out but Im planning to go as long as possible and I'm very confident I can do so. It's helps seeing all the comments saying the same scenario that I was dealing with❤️. I believe this is the right choice for me and what I want in life, it was always a battle of moderation and since I couldn’t control the temptations I’m quitting altogether. Good luck to those out there with the same goal!

Two weeks sober today. I was vaping an ounce of wax every month. I’m an athlete so I rely heavily on my body. I can immediately feel the positive effects. I’ve also put a great deal of effort into my mental health lately and quitting has greatly assisted that as well. The withdrawals from having that much THC in my system have been devastating. I’m just NOW starting to feel better. But I’m glad I took my first steps. I hope anyone else struggling knows it’s okay to quit, you don’t need THC to regulate your emotions. ❤ Started smoking at 17 & I am now 27.
People who say weed doesn't have withdrawals are nuts I had worse withdrawals from that than Adderall or Xanax my usage of weed was higher than the other two though
Anything addictive had withdrawals and weed is addictive. Stopping porn has withdrawals stopping masturbating has sort of withdrawals too the dreams continue the fight never ends.

I have been a passive smoker for 5 years. Now I am 6 months smoke free and going strong. For anyone reading this, it is much easier than you think. It becomes harder when you try to quit with the mindset that quitting smoking is hard. I feel much better and healthier. You can do it !!
Apparently I need change environment then. Trying to quit smoking but everywhere I go (work, home) and other places I smell burning tobacco and then my desire to smoke a cig increases as if you were hungry and walking past a pizzeria 😢
I grew up in second hand smoke. Not only that but my parents would allow us to have cigarettes if we rolled so many cigarettes for them. In other words we were given 1 cigarette per every 20 we would roll for them. Over half of my siblings went on to become heavy smokers, developing COPD early in life. This is where I say “there but the grace of God go I.” Watching an autopsy of smoker’s lungs in the sixth grade clinched it for me and I never smoked again. Unfortunately the damage was already done. I now have decreased pulmonary function and exercise induced asthma. I loved to run, but could never become great because of my compromised respiratory status. I finally had to give it up because the albuterol inhaler I would use to breathe would cause increased heart rate making it even more difficult to breathe. I love to garden but pushing wheelbarrows of mulch and carrying heavy things makes me wheeze. Do I wish I had never smoked, yes. Do I wish my parents did not subject my young developing lungs to second hand smoke, yes. When I see people smoking nowadays when everyone knows the health risks it makes me cringe. Why would anyone pay a billion dollar industry to kill them?
I never smoked but my parents did, and I have exercise induced asthma too. The thing that really helped with my lung function was stationary biking! I got a peloton a few years ago and I definitely can exercise a lot harder without having severe asthma symptoms, I even do a bit of running on a treadmill now. I still have to abstain when it’s too hot or if we’re dealing with wildfires or anything but I can do a 30 min bike ride without collapsing now.
You should talk to your doctor about Singulair. It has helped my lungs a lot and leaves me with 0 breathing issues. Started talking it before bootcamp and didn’t have a single flare up
Still much better to smoke weed than smoke tobacco: fewer chemicals, no cancer risk, and much better experience! Pretty much the only thing worse about smoking weed over cigarettes is the increased tar content, which is up to 2-4x higher than tobacco. Vaping herb or consuming edibles would produce less burden on your body: give it a try sometime! Peace.
Sometimes people need to take gratitude to what they have they often take for granted. Being able to breathe air with a properly functioning pair of lungs itself seems like a great thing to me.
i’ve watched this video 3 times and shared it to everyone i’m close with. this is the most educational video and is so easy to understand, thank you sm for educating me
Most smokers don't care at all... I told my neighbor that I have allergies and asthma and my mom died in lung cancer, so I don't want to inhale his smoke (which is coming in to my apartment). He didn't give a shit, moreover was offended and yelled at me that I can't tell him what to do and I should move if I don't like it.
Thank you! This is what I've been saying most of my life. I get how beneficial some things are, and some people flat out need it to live, and as someone who suffers from migraines and anxiety I truly get it, HOWEVER I've never liked the idea of smoking anything. It drives me crazy when people swear it's not bad for you, but as far as I'm concerned anything that needs to be inhaled, that isn't air or life saving corticosteroids, isn't great for you. I don't care if it's natural, this or that, I'm not pumping my lungs with it multiple times a day.
@saulgoodmanssugarbaby Congratulations to your success! Though counting days are still a part of your addiction. Alan Carr's book on quitting specific addiction might be useful. For an example see the free quit porn ebook or audiobook inspired by Alan Carr. It is called: "The Easy Peasy Method to Quit Porn"
But did you think it was good before watching this? I mean it is pretty obvious, that inhaling anything else but air is probably not good for you. If you inhale smoke and cough from it, I don't think anybody would think it's good for you. I know it is still good to help stop people smoking and get away from addiction

There's a peer reviewed study showing that cannabis causes no harm to your lungs compared to tobacco smoke. The creators of this video seem to be ignorant about this study. (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1277837/) Tobacco contains 25 naturally occurring nitrosamines which are carcinogenic. Cannabis contains no carcinogens and actually the cannabinoids in cannabis fight cancer. The study showed that tobacco weakens the lungs immune system and increases risk of cancer while cannabis has the opposite effect and acts as a protectant. The only carcinogens come from burnt plant matter and due to it being a small amount of plant matter it's not as harmful as believed. I've been smoking for 10 years and my lungs are still in perfect condition.
As a retired Respiratory Therapist, I agree whole heartedly with you! Inhaling ANYTHING other than the purest air is bad for our lungs, and to pretend otherwise is to volunteer as a lab rat so that the bad effects can be discovered decades later. In fact, even pure air isn't that great for our lungs, because of the oxidizing effects of the oxygen on our tissues, but our lungs have antioxidants to minimize that. When a person gets older, lungs naturally become less flexible, respiratory muscles become weaker, and decreased production of antioxidants leads to greater damage done by the oxygen we need to live. It's NOT a good idea to add more damage on top of what father time already loads on our bodies!

THANK YOU for giving attention to this simple yet misunderstood idea. There needs to be new alternative ways to consume whilst still reaping the benefits that they provide.

Lemme just tell you: quit both almost 3 years ago.....feel SO much better, clearer and saved THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars. It wasn't my choice to quit: I got lung cancer and had to live for my wife and kids....it was a no brainer.
I had asthma as a child, and while that's not a good thing, it always give me an easy reason in social situations not to put anything weird into my lungs.
I grew up smoking with my cousins, and I smoked for almost 20 years. Also smoked a LOT of weed for most of that time. When I hit my 30s, I felt like my body had enough of me smoking and if I continued to smoke for another 10 years, I would start to really see harm. I used vaping to quit smoking and while that was effective, I could feel there was something not great about vaping. I finally quit vaping during the pandemic (also haven't touched weed in years), and I feel like my lungs started to feel "clean" a couple years after I quit vaping.
In my 30s too. Couldn't smoke or rarely could the last 4 years on federal probation after a couple years in prison. Was doing many harder drugs too so maybe that saved my life but started smoking again and I feel the same like nah I gotta stop doing this to my body.
Congratulations on quitting. I can't recall where I read or heard this, but I do remember it being said that when a person quits smoking, after a period of approximately 15 years, their lungs are practically indistinguishable from someone who never had smoked. Stay the course -- you're definitely on the right track!
I honestly love the comment section for this video and all the responses, positive and negative. Especially with cannabis. Iv been smoking pretty heavy since I stopped playing sports about 11 years ago. I’ll take breaks here and there, but somebody on this thread spoke to WHY I smoke. It’s literally to combat boredom. And at this point it was like a reflex even if I truly didn’t wanna smoke I did because of reflex and because I had time to spare. Iv always known how bad smoking is, but this video as well as you guys definitely made me quit. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever stop completely. But I wanna make it a healthier habit like drinking alcohol which I only do maybe a hand ful of times a year ( less than 4 times, don’t really like to drink) it’s only socially. But smoking just because your bored is somthing I had to stop doing it was restrictive, I do feel more anxiety, and feel a lot more like myself in socializing.
I quit smoking tobacco, 19yrs ago & I'm glad I did. A dear friend of mine, just had surgery back in May. She had oral cancer. She survived the procedure, but it will take 6 to 9 months to heal. I lost a co-worker, who was also a friend, to lung cancer. Most of my friends, used to smoke, but have since quit. Post smoking, I still suffered 2 strokes. The first one in 2009, the 2nd in the new year of 2018. I'm a survivor of both, obviously. It could've been much worse, if I continued to smoke. I quit & never looked back.
I'm a long distance runner and once I hit 30 I would notice that running felt noticably more difficult for hours and even up to a day after smoking cannabis. I had already cut back quite a bit since my college days, but that drove me to stop completely. I still occasionally have edibles but never smoke.
@@jacoboreilly7526it isn’t a nicotine vape. Dry herb vape is a type of lil mini oven you put your bud into. Hit a button so it heats it up and burns it so you aren’t getting any negative feelings or combustion, and you’re good. It’s a lot more healthier than smoking bud in a bowl or anything else.
My doctor told me the same thing back in 1979 when I presented with a chronic cough after smoking cannabis. That stuck with me. With the exception of a couple of times thereafter, I stopped smoking. I was not at any risk of tobacco use. I took a drag off of a cigarette once and found it especially vile.

I’m now happily smoke-free for six years. I smoked (cigarettes) for nearly thirty years! I thought I would never be able to quit. It’s important for anyone trying to quit smoking that they DON’T GIVE UP trying to quit smoking!! Don’t beat yourself up if you slip up; just dust yourself off and try again. And again. I completely stopped nicotine 4 years ago but i still drink 2+ litters of tea a day and i don't think i will ever stop (my doctor say it's a good trade). Another thing about cannabis, if you are dabbing concentrates there isn’t combustion, tho inhaling hot vapors isn’t good for you, if you have a temp reader and you go in at recommended temperatures rather than just randomly going red hot it will definitely play a roll in the way you will feel over time, another thing is most dispensaries do not want to produce the cleanest healthiest product they simply want money, most concentrates they make contains butane or propane to get the most possible outcome while adding unatural terpenes for taste, while with solventless concentrates that aren’t very common and quite expensive at dispensaries are completely natural processes including water, ice, heat and pressure are much better for you, I would dab BHO on red hot quartz which means 800°+ and it’s absolutely terrible for you, definitely could feel pains in my chest until I studies more into it
Thank you Justin. This is what iv been thinkin about all this time. I talked to somebody telling me smoking cannabis aint as bad as normal cigarets. But ever since that encounter im like.. but ur still inhaling burned material and fine particals, that is never a good thing. im glad you explain it for us and way better than i ever will be able to.
I clicked on this video SO FAST. As a chronic asthmatic, smoke (and strong smells in general) flare my lungs up. Even the subtle lingering smell of smoke on someone's clothing after smoking outside can affect me on a bad day. Smokers have NO idea how negatively they can affect the people around them. Thank you for talking about this.
This video was the final motivation that got me to quit cigarettes cold turkey 3 weeks ago. Quitting weed was relatively easy, but the cigarette cravings are only just now subsiding fully. I smoked both weed and tobacco basically all day every day for ten years. I gotta say, i like breathing! Everything smells much stronger too. And my cooking (which already tasted good) is simply out of this world lol. Exercise is awesome now too, i catch my breath WAY more quickly. Thanks for helping me to achieve freedom from depending on these coping mechanisms 🙏 i quit alcohol and caffeine too- now for refined sugars and processed foods. This will be the hard part since dang near 80% of all food in U.S. groceries is processed and full of refined sugars.

Hi Justin, thanks for another great video. I want to let you know another main result of smoking is bladder cancer. I was diagnosed last December with muscle invasive bladder cancer. I'm nearly 62 & was a smoker more or less since I was 15. I only ever stopped when I was pregnant and breastfeeding. The moment I was diagnosed I gave up the cigs completely. I did use nicotine patches for 1 week. I'm now almost 4 month's post op, of having my bladder removed along with a complete hysterectomy and the removal of my lymph nodes. I now have a ileal conduit made from part of my bowel which is attached to the outside of my abdomen into a stoma & it's through this I wear an urostomy bag. I see myself as being very lucky that the cancer hasn't spread anywhere else. The reason why my surgeon gave me the hysterectomy & removed my lymph nodes is because that's where the cancer 1st's spreads too once outside of the bladder. It's been a very long & rough 4 months recovery. Everything was removed through a mid-line wound starting from my navel to my pelvis & I'm still having problems as it's been very, very slow in healing. It's not quite there yet. Trying to get used to an urostomy bag & all that goes with it is a whole other story. I've also just watched your video on hysterectomies & found it fascinating. I was wondering if you maybe could do a video on a female bladder please? Also too on a male bladder as theirs are completely different & in men, bladder cancer from smoking is very common. I'd never heard of bladder cancer until my diagnosis. Apparently it's a very common cancer, it's just not one that gets much-needed attention. Thanks again for the great videos guy's I learn so much & am always eager to know more. Much love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤❤
One cancer patient to another, there's a cancer for everything under the sun. Every damn part of the human body that can try to kill someone is very able to mutate and do so. It's a sobering realisation for sure. I'm sorry you were born in that generation where everyone smoked. I'm 25 and I know very few people my age who smoke. Some of them vape though, and for the kids younger than me, everyone vapes... I guess I was born at just the right time. Or not because of the genes causing my cancer but that's a whole other thing haha 😅
I am currently in the process of quitting smoking and drinking, after almost being left by my wife twice this year already. These are really sneaky demons, I am not what you consider the lower class, I'm an IT guy, I have a car, a decent job, but you begin with a beer, then two, then three beers, then a bottle of wine and years later you find yourself chugging 2 liters of wine each night and having fights with your loved one based on imaginary scenarios. And it's always there, like a splinter in your mind, maybe I'll only drink each 3 days, or once a week, you do that, then slowly you're back drinking daily. The only way is to completely cut it off suddenly. It does mess up your mind and you do start doing weird and bad stuff, I would have never thought I'd do or say the things I've done or said this year. I never do anything any more, I never go out, I never repair anything around the house, I don't clean any more... My YT channel is dead... I had the power to see that alcohol was the only reason why we're not as we used to be and while's she's away at her parents, I told her that if I ever drink again, she can leave me. We do have our issues and we need to discuss and solve them, but every time that alcohol is involved... the discussions lead to disaster. To hell with these... I'm drinking tea from now on. And if you have trouble to go to sleep and use booze for this, try lavender tea, it's awesome and has a powerful natural sleeping inducing effect.
When I was 22 years old, I had a very vivid dream that I was terminally ill with lung cancer from smoking. In this dream my kids and wife were crying yet at that time I did not have a GF. This was when I stopped smoking because is scared the living hell out of me. I'm 62 now and going strong and never touched a smoke since.
Quit smoking around 3 years ago and never looked back! I recently had a draw of a cigarette while having some drinks with a friend and thought it was the most disgusting tasting thing in the world. Fully made me realise I was happy to be a non smoker haha
I started smoking weed at 18 years old, and continued doing so on a regular basis until May of this year. I quit because I was starting to get paranoid about it's effects on my mental state as well as the effects on my body from the long-term usage. I would sometimes smoke 3-4 bowls a day, and I started developing heavy breathing and a bad cough. Ever since I quit, my breathing has improved greatly and my overall quality-of-life as improved. I think cannabis can be beneficial if used infrequently and on occasion, however the feeling of being high can be addicting and over time can start to become something you rely on for anxiety or stress, which can lead to further addiction. TL;DR : Use cannabis at your own risk. If you have great self-control and other means to relieve your anxiety and stress, then by all means smoke weed. Otherwise, just be cautious and set weekly limits for yourself. And don't smoke cigarettes.
@@f2t948 I won’t lie with you, I started smoking again not too long after this comment. I agree with you completely on edibles. They might be more expensive depending on how much you do a day, but I think the price and health benefits (compared to weed) balance everything. Question : you do think dabs are a safe alternative? I have a rig, and I used to dab all the time. My only problem was I’d hit the wax too hot.
After having a few heart attacks, I gave up smoking anything. It has been decades, but I still have problems with lung function, short of having to have supplemental oxygen, but there are times I need to do deep breathing to catch my breath. If I could go back in time, I would set myself down and get me to understand how bad it is to smoke. Nothing more, just that over anything that would give me wealth and power, as that isn't where happiness is.
I have been on and off with quitting and its been so hard. This video is what I needed to remind myself why I have to stop and start consuming cannabis in edible form to avoid ingesting any type of smoke in my body. God bless the "Recommended for you".. its like it knew I needed to watch this!
Just avoid it altogether. You can do it, all you have to do is unleash the achiever who’s inside you. You’re keeping it dormant with all these substances that serves you absolutely no good.
I know it's not easy to quit smoking but to anyone struggling to quit, here's what worked for me. Start small; count one day no smoke, two days no smoke and so on. And yes you will fail many many, many times and it's okay it's part of the process. If you have friends who are smokers tell them that you are trying to quit so they can help you by not smoking next to you and stuff like that. When that time comes when you fail to resist that urge and end up lighting another cigarette, reset the counter and write down how much regret you feel for giving in after all that time you were doing so well. And each time you want to give in again read what you wrote the last time you gave up and remind yourself that it's not worth repeating what you will regret again and again. And remind yourself that it is not worth resetting the counter especially when you are breaking your previous records. You will reset the counter many many times, but It's okay to fail just make sure you keep breaking your previous records. I too failed countless times but this way I kept myself from smoking (not even a single puff) for 3.6 years now 1315 days to be exact. Yes I'm still counting because even now the urge to smoke visits me from time to time. So, if you want to quit, know that the earlier the better. I hope this helps and if it doesn't, find another way that works for you. Just don't give up. Good luck.
Keep up the good work! It took my heavy smoker mom about 5 years abstaining before the urge was totally gone and she found smoke smell to be offensive. You're almost there.
The way I quit for good: after smoking the first cigarette of a pack I kept that open pack in my jacket pocket, and EACH time I went for another I talked myself out of THAT ONE! It wasn't long before I no longer desired to have a smoke, though, I kept the pack in my pocket. In fact, I kept it in my pocket so long, as a reminder I 'chose' not to smoke, that when someone had asked me if I had a cigarette, and I gave them one, they complained it was stale! That's when I finally threw them away. 😛😹😺 That was early 1990's. 💖🙌😺
Soooo grateful for you guys and all you do, to serve such a broad public audience, and to make education that matters so accessible. I can only imagine how many people (myself included) that these videos impact and ignite positive habit changes. Also happy to be reading and hearing more and more of the actual science coming out about negative impacts on smoking weed. When I used to smoke weed pretty regularly I'd tell my doctors, and theyd brush it off and wouldnt make any comments regarding my health, which at first didn't mean anything to me, but later didn't seem to make sense, due to exactly what you guys say: breathing in ANYTHING besides air, let alone ashes, is not healthy for anyone. Addiction is so powerful, it will excuse these objective truths...but this video is very radical for that, and makes me smile knowing it exists :)
Glad to hear you enjoy our content and this video! Our hope is that our content can assist people in making better decisions with their body, or at the very least, having a greater awareness around what’s happening to their body.
Sounds like a crock nice Fairy tale your saying you told your Dr you smoke weed and he said eh no biggie? either you werent listening , or you have a bad doctor lol if you thought smoking anything was not going to have negative effects then you just need to learn to not be ignorant , Weed has a bad way of becoming a habit and plenty abuse it in that sense , but if you need pain relief or stress relief you can Take edibles or other non smokeable ways man
I love how he educates us on smoking and the goods and bads of smoking weed, but he doesn't diss the shit outta it. He brings the bads AND the goods. If u ask me, thats extremely important.
I'm trying to get my mom to stop smoking. I have been for years. She's worried that she'll fall to a worse vice (talking abt short-term results instead of long-term health problems) and perhaps this video will help finally. You have a very gentle and kind way of explaining without making the viewer feel bad or stupid so while I translate for her, I'm sure she'll understand from your tone and facial expressions even if my translation isn't as colourful as your presentation 😂
I’m trying to do that too and I am clueless as to what I should do to stop her from smoking. Nothing helps and she is just stubborn, do you have any ideas or what have you tried so far? I’d love to hear from you!
@@AnaesthesiaDoc well, the main reason she's been considering it (she HAS cut back on how much she smokes) is mostly money because cigs are very expensive 😭 so there's that, maybe you can point out that you'd be able to have more money to the side without cigarettes. Another is pointing out that she'll feel better without smoking, even if it takes some time. My boyfriend had a bit of a hard time but it wasn't as terrible as he feared. That was encouraging for my mom but she's still worried about wanting to eat more or less, turning to sugar, the fact that she can't chew gums because of her weak teeth, fear of turning to alcohol and other such things. I am fully willing to help her find alternatives such as going for a walk instead or writing poems (bc my mom really likes writing) or doing some light exercise and such. Even playing a boardgame! I think it's just important for us to a) present the facts without terrifying them and b) help them be less afraid of making the change and supporting them through it without judgement and with patience :) my mom is extremely stubborn too, so it took her some time to accept that she wants and needs to stop smoking. It also helped that I hate the smell and she truly does believe the dangers of secondhand smoke and she'd do anything for me and our cat. I helped her by pointing out her small successes like when she started smoking less even if it wasn't a huge difference
I quit smoking cannabis daily and switched to making cannabis tea and ive noticed a lot of the benefits are more potent with none of the uncomfortability that comes with smoking. Im also a vocalist so putting less stress on my lungs and heart has helped me feel more creative and happier because the smoke no longer effects me negatively. Ill still smoke but not nearly as often as i used to. I much prefer the edibles/drinks for thc/cbd. Thank you for the educational content 🙏 keep it up!
Does is smell? I imagine it does preparing.. But like if its already prepared and served could I walk into my house with a cup and drink it unnoticeably? I hate the reek of burnt weed. I've noticed vaping is really hurting my lungs, I don't need anyone telling me that. So the only edible I tried didn't make me feeling anything at all.
@Rabiiid yeah they just legalized it recreational in the state I live in, so you can buy the gummies and seltzers w/ THC at the stores, too. It is very discreet 😆 the most potent edibles I've had were medicinal grade or made at home. Hopefully you can quit vaping and find alternatives to get high if it's hurting you 💪
I quit smoking this year, switched to edibles and I've noticed a gradual improvement in my overall health this video justifies my decision. It's really easy to make your own infused snacks and it's cheaper than having to buy an OZ every two weeks making it a win win situation.
I loved this. It was super insightful. I'm a regular cannabis user but it's vital to know the risks and cut down. Could you please do a video on infused edibles and their effect?
Fun fact in the ~1930s had an aunt who was told to smoke menthol cigarettes by her doctor because that was the only thing that afforded relief from chronic sinusitis.
Watching this feels like such a victory lap if you are completely clean from smoking or vaping anything. To anyone watching this because they are scared, I wish you good luck and know that quitting is totally worth it.
Thank you for reminding me to not give up quitting. I have been smoke free for about 3 1/2 years but started again when my stepdad passed away. That's three years ago now and I have had multiple attempts of quitting, making it for about 2 weeks max. Right now I'm sitting on my sofa, having a cold (the 4th or 5th this year, probably because of my immune system being shit from smoking and vaping) not wanting to smoke and I hope I make it this time! Wish me endurance. btw. the quality of your videos is super good and I really enjoy learning more about our anatomy from you. Keep up the nice work
Many smokers don't think twice about inflicting their smoke on me. They also throw their cigarette ends on the road and pavement, creating litter. It's a level of selfishness that I find intolerable and incomprehensible.
But in some countries it's socially acceptable and you should tolerate others smoking, it's actually unacceptable if you 'read them the lesson' not to smoke even though you are doing it for your own health which you should have right over...I was in Macedonia for some time and literally anyone smokes anywhere, anytime, any age. Like you literally are in people their smoke during any activity. You are in the bus, the bus driver smokes, you are eating out the people next to you smoke. People literally standing there with a baby smoking. They don't give a fuck. I really don't get how such countries can be healthy.
@@nicochan1537 Tobacco is a means of control. Of course those countries made it socially acceptable. They only care that the slaves are compliant. I'm not the compliant-type, and I will look down on someone who smokes as someone lacking O2, poisoned by mutagens and carcinogens, sluggish, ineffective and just generally lesser. You think I'm going to rely on someone that does that stuff? Heck no. Also, Europe is full of unreliable bums. Not a people I'm interested in emulating.
This video is awesome. I quit smoking cold turkey before the new year. I hope by sometime next year the damage smoke has done over the years can be undone.
I would like to hear you talk about the effect of THC at different tolerance levels. My personal experience points to a maximum high (intensity and duration) being achieved from a minimal dose on a minimal tolerance. It’s also my experience that it’s very difficult to stick to a minimal usage plan. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
I've been watching you guys for a few months now and I've ALWAYS enjoyed all of them. Hearing you were/are a Marine, just puts icing on the cake! It's good to know that there are fellow Marines out there in this field and spreading great information. Semper Fi, have a Dan Daily day, keep up the great work, and I need to chill out on smoking cannabis lol
Quitting wasnt easy for me but it was so worth it! Being a tobacco smoker i wasnt able to be who i felt like i really was. Now i feel so much better physically and im not clearing my throat every 10 seconds like an old man 😂
Came here to comment 1 year later. I've been a smoker for a smoker for most of my youth. Did everything i could to quit it. Then i saw this video. Honestly there's nothing in this video that i hadn't seen before, but somehow due to this vid, its like a switch went off in my head. And i quit immediately. Cold turkey. Very very rare cravings after that. So now I'm proud to say, I'm 1 year smoke free, thanks to this channel. Good job guys! I'll be forever grateful ❤
I love this. I was highly dependent on weed from 17 to 23. I quit a month ago for my second time and have felt a complete 180 in my personality and in my health. I could never breath out of my nose and now I can, I’m socially more confident and outgoing and my physical health has increased. I’ve been working out for 5 years but my lungs and air ways were always shot. Now I feel like I’m getting a better quality of air flow. I felt schizophrenic, anxious, and like my mood was very irregular. Now I’m feeling so much better, I know it’s been a month but I have no desire in the slightest to go back, I’m happier now.
Dude same! I quit weed a week ago, and started working out three months ago my mood, confidence etc is soooo much better. I’ll never go back and I cut out sugar and processed food
I always thought smoking anything was bad, but I had picked up smoking cannabis in 2017. More recently I’ve stopped smoking (over a month now) for financial reasons, but I’ve been learning a lot about why I shouldn’t continue just for the medical purposes alone. I may just need to stick to edibles in the future. Thank you for sharing!
@@m.Process Not that I’ve noticed! But I’ve been taking other medications for other health problems I have and I struggle with depression and anxiety so that may impact how I feel on a day to day basis. If I hadn’t struggled with such things, I would say it could have been easier for me to notice any changes in my cognitive function. :)
Yeah I use it medically (I have a med card) as well, for my anxiety and pain. Remember: the use for pot depends on the person. It's definitely not a one size fits all sort of thing. Stay safe!
I smoke weed about 1-3 times a week. I otherwise live a fairly healthy lifestyle, lifting weights 5 days a week, eating a clean diet, etc. I already knew smoking anything wasn't good for me, but seeing the anatomy of why it's bad made me decide I should keep it to once, or not at all most weeks. thanks for making this video.
Smoking weed is still much better than smoking cigarettes: nonaddictive (physically), better experience, no cancer risk, etc. Of course, smoke still contains a lot of nasty things that don't belong in your body. If you feel like it's too much, consider using an herbal vaporizer or consuming edibles. Cannabis vapor, for example, is almost the inverse of cannabis smoke: the smoke is about 5% THC and 95% toxic byproducts while the vapor is 95% THC and 5% toxic byproducts, making it much, much healthier. Both options, IMO, are superior to smoking.
@@captainmycaptain8334 i have some right now but honestly i'm just not a huge fan. its harder to gauge how stoned i'm going to get than if i was just smoking, and they make me super anxious. every time i've ever had a bad weed experience it was with edibles.
@@milkytapwater1686 damn that sucks, hopefully you can find some alternative, i enjoy edibles more than smoking, i cant handle the lung burn at all im a bit of a baby lol
I'm a chronical smoker and I want to stop; I hope this video helps me make the decision to commit to a sober lifestyle... I stopped cigarettes and alcohol years ago; but for some reason, weed I just can't put down.
Dude, you've already done the hard part: quitting nicotine! So please don't beat yourself up for enjoying cannabis! You can also vaporize the herb which makes it far healthier to your body. Or, there's edibles. You don't have to give up ALL the fun to be healthy, friend.
@@-_Blitz_- Personally there isn't anything to get excited about anymore, going out with friends drinking, smoking and whatever is what I live for when I know I'll never be able to afford a house or a family without struggling like a dog
The light, non judgemental, humoristic approach is the way to go. We aren't catholics to be frightened. we are intelligent creatures in need of information, and better alternatives if we want to change the way we behave
I went through a period of cannabis addiction (now I still use it but more rarely), at some point I accepted that my near daily use wasn't disappearing any time soon and bought a dry herb vaporizer. Best health decision I could've made (aside from quitting maybe..).

The second smartest thing I did on my wedding day (almost 43 years ago now) was to quit my pack a day cigarette habit as a wedding gift to my non-smoking wife. I've never regretted doing either thing.

Apparently I need change environment then. Trying to quit smoking but everywhere I go (work, home) and other places I smell burning tobacco and then my desire to smoke a cig increases as if you were hungry and walking past a pizzeria 😢
W You got it bro
What do you mean a passive smoker who quit ? Doesn’t passive smoker entails that you weren’t the one smoking but the people around you were ?

Now Im trying it again since 1 month, but now I have mor conviction about how dangerous is it, and how many years Ive been smoking (and how many cigarretes ive smoked..). Thanks for this video, its helpfull to keep the force. Thankyou.
Incredible. Like a prophetic vision!
Crazy. I had similar dream and that lead me to quit smoking, alcohol and even junk food

Quit smoking around 3 years ago and never looked back! I recently had a draw of a cigarette while having some drinks with a friend and thought it was the most disgusting tasting thing in the world. Fully made me realise I was happy to be a non smoker haha
Haha in the same boat. Been around it my whole life and always loved the smell but after quitting, for some reason it smells and taste like shit now
I started smoking weed at 18 years old, and continued doing so on a regular basis until May of this year.
Self control is important but maby eating edibles is better than smoking it
@@f2t948 I won’t lie with you, I started smoking again not too long after this comment.
@user-nz9rl1tk4i the flaw in the logic you typed is that alcohol and tobacco are legal

It’s good to know. I don’t plan to end my weed habit, but it’s definitely good to have a better understanding of the risks.

Smoking in general can lead to an array of health-related problems. Lung diseases happen to be one of them. Smoke with a precaution. Don't abuse it.

Many smokers don't think twice about inflicting their smoke on me. They also throw their cigarette ends on the road and pavement, creating litter. It's a level of selfishness that I find intolerable and incomprehensible.
No one talks enough about this!!
I agree that people not being mindful of others when smoking is bad but cigarettes butts are bio degradable.
As a smoker, I approve of this message.

Tobacco is a means of control.

I've honestly found that keeping it to once a month or so lets me really enjoy things and not take it for granted.
are you able to switch to edibles?
Smoking weed is still much better than smoking cigarettes: nonaddictive (physically), better experience, no cancer risk, etc. Of course, smoke still contains a lot of nasty things that don't belong in your body. If you feel like it's too much, consider using an herbal vaporizer or consuming edibles. Cannabis vapor, for example, is almost the inverse of cannabis smoke: the smoke is about 5% THC and 95% toxic byproducts while the vapor is 95% THC and 5% toxic byproducts, making it much, much healthier. Both options, IMO, are superior to smoking.
