Adder Battle

It's not often you get to see two males battle it out for the right to mate with a female.
This was only the second time I've witnessed this , the first time was very brief. This occasion last hours.
We'd been told about the two males fighting, so rushed down to capture them before it ended. We need not have rushed around and worried. They'd been at it for a couple of hours, then proceeded to do battle for another hour as we watched them.
Eventually we left them to it to explore the rest of the heathland. Upon our return an hour and a half later, they were still fighting hammer and tongs but began to ease off slowly.
A quite incredible experience and a pleasure to witness.
