Some movies leave permanent scars, this is one of them.
@Eibhlin Burke The movie is great, the acting impeccable, but the ending is brutal, way more brutal than the ending of Million Dollars Baby.
@@blofeld2430 Well, while the ending IS brutal & horrifying, it's still TAME compared to the real case this movie is based upon.
I agree!
I wish this was just a fictional story 💔
I first seen this movie when I was 9 I’m 18 now and I never forgot it
Best role of Hilary swank. Oscar was necessary for her. She was great in million dollar baby but this perfomance. Remind me of Charlize Theron in monster. A hell of a perfomance and masterpiece movie
I SO agree! There are the only two female performances I’ve watched that are not just outstanding where they are unrecognisable physically but also where they have a completely different persona. They are both one of the greatest actresses of all time. Both very deserving of the awards they got 🥇
Naw million dollar baby.
I agree ,I luv both thoses monster and boys don't cry.... 💚💙💜💛 i luv all true stories... Pearl Harbor titanic Sylvia likens case all of them
The Next Karate Kid
Never seen either play a bad role, but these are definitely stand out, next level roles.
One of the most powerful and emotionally devastating films of all time. Saw it as a teenager and it was incredibly eye-opening. Amazing performances from Hilary Swank, Chloe Sevigny and Peter Sarsgaard.
Yes it was eye opening in many ways
Obviously you haven't seen a lot of movies if you think this is the most powerful and emotional devastating films
@@yourmommasentme6544 I've been collecting films for twenty years and I own over 300 Criterion titles. I probably see more movies in a year than you've seen in your entire life.
I saw this in my teen years as well and I completely agree with your comment.
@@yourmommasentme6544see, that's the thing about art (of which any entertainment based media belongs to including books, movies, and even video games), it's all dependent upon the perspective of the one viewing it. For people who experience the pain of trans hate and prejudice this CAN be the most impactful and emotional and powerful movies simply because it hits so close to home and it's so real. Please don't invalidate peoples genuine and valid feelings toward a true story based on your own bias.
I watched this When I was like 14 years old and I still remember Every detail. This movie scarred me, the true story scarred me. It’s unforgettable, and unforgivable.
Boys Don't Cry is in my personal top 10 of favorite movies for sure! Such an impression it left on me back when I watched it for the first time, 20 years old. Never ever before or since have I cried so hard over a movie. Based on a true story. Please do yourselves a huge favor and watch this movie. It will rip your heart to pieces but also move you in ways you never thought possible. At least that's my hope...
Big time. One of the best ever. Very real.
Where can I watch it???

Yeah I only actually seen this movie about 6 months ago, I don't really I know why as I usually follow Oscar winning movies. Absolutely love this film, I've watched it about 6 times now. Very sad story obviously but I like the way is made. Great acting, good soundtrack, also love the deep blue sky shots . Truly is a great movie. Hilary swank is brilliant but personally i couldn't take my eyes off of Chloë Sevigny! She's such a great interesting artist. She seems to have a girl next door quality. I don't know if any of you seen her in the UK series Hit and Miss? It's very good.
I’m actually watching the movie and I can tell I’ve never been that stressed out while watching a movie, there’s such a tense atmosphere all along and you feel the drama going crescendo til it reaches that point it’s too late to do anything

I was maybe 9/ 10 when I watched this movie on TV. My parents were asleep and I watched it. At the time I didn't realize what this all was about but I've never forgotten what I saw and now at 27 I decided to search for the title and rewatch it. Some movies just stick around for years and this one was one of them
Powerful, moving & heartfelt. Brought me to tears what he endured at the hands of cruelly horrible people
I was 15 and my grandmother took me to see this without knowing what it was about....
The ending really stuck with me for days after...
I watched it in 2000...unforgettable movie and tragic story. Everyone should watch it and try understand people and how everyone is unique.
I love this movie. If I judged it by the trailer, I would never have watched it
Saw this film when it came out. It made me cry, BUT I didn't realize it was based off a true story until the end of the film. Which made me cry more. 😢
Have to admit this was a powerful movie based on the true story of a transgender man and the small minded cruelty which is born of ignorance and intolerance of anyone who dares to be themselves, worth watching 😢
I’m buying the DVD.

Chloë Sevigny is perfection
She really is. Brilliant actress. Just something about her.

💔'Til this day I still have trouble just seeing a glimpse of Peter Sarsgaard in ANY THING!! My heart just goes right back 2 what he did 2 Brandon & that's great acting because he made me despise him. It was all so sickening watching the way Brandon was treated. Couldn't stand that whole crew or how very sick all of those people were! I wanted Brandon 2 flee so bad before they could hurt him, but he wouldn't leave.💔😩. Unforgettable & tragic.....Peter really left a mark on me.

It's a true story. As brutal as the movie is, it's nowhere near as bad as what happened in real life.

Just watching this trailer i'm crying. RIP
Love Hilary Swank!
She's an awesome actress!
She definitely should have gotten an Oscar for this role!
This is a great movie as well.
Good movie... 👌
I read the book before the movie was made..great read
This movie was good and sad the same time but it was worth watching.
My wish is for a groundbreaking dramedy series, once Pose ends it's final season on FX. I wanna see a show focusing on black transgender men and how they navigate thru life and dealing with discrimination and transphobia. Im glad we are getting a bit more positive representation of transmasculine actors like Brian Michael Smith, who was on Queen Sugar on the OWN and now is one of the leading firefighters in 911 Lonestar on Fox. However, we have LONG way to go.
it’s scary living in a town that this was based on
Does anyone know what is the belt buckle the Brandon wear in the movie.
Hillary 2 oscars boys dont cry million dollar baby.
Love This Movie!
Thank you for sharing your video! It's sad that it takes a Hollywood movie to educate people regarding the subject of hate crimes! Brandon Teena & the other 2 victims did NOT deserve to die. Nobody has a right to take someone else's life just because they look different or choose to openly express their sexuality. People whom commit hate crimes are ignorant & cowards! I have no respect for people like Lotter whom promote hate & violence! He deserves to spend the rest of his Life in prison. The only positive from this story is that Brandon Teena to me is a hero & his story has hopefully educated many of us as to why hate crimes need to stop & the pain & suffering hate crimes create for all those involved! RIP Brandon Teena! I pray you are at Peace & in a better place in heaven! Amen 🙏
The first scene on the trailer does not appear in the movie :/

@@ritaz2008 can you please tell me whats the story of this movie
this movie was an absolute masterpiece. there's been a lot said about hilary swank's performance and the story of a transgender man killed for being who he was - and rightly so - but i think one of the lowkey reasons it's so great is also how it perfectly captures what it feels like to grow up poor and uneducated in a dead end town in a dead end corner of a flyover state. you get a little hint of that in silence of the lambs too, but this movie makes it so much clearer. that scene where they're dreaming about their life together is so laced with the sense that they both knew it was impossible. it was heartbreaking.
I was a teen when i first watched it. Never knew about transgendered people back then but this movie stuck in my head . Now i get it when I'm older but i can't watch it again ,it's too painful.
This film stressed me out from the start till the end. It’s a great watch but definitely not something I could ever rewatch.
Sorry Teena brandon😢 I would've dated you. You was around the wrong people it is so many more people like you. You wasn't alone❤

Plus I can't stand bullys💗 oh and thankyou yes that's me in the photo lol
This movie and "Soldier's Girl" are two of my favorite movies. Saw them both when I was a teenager and they made such an impression on me. The way trans people have been treated is so gross and disturbing but I'm glad that it's beginning to change and newer generations are more accepting.
Wow, an LGBT movie that is not utterly stupid and has relateable characters.
Most likely due to the fact that the events in the movie actually happened and wasn’t just a fictional tale. RIP Brandon Teena.

The only thing that I don't like about this movie is that Brandon Teena's role is played by a woman. He should have been played by a trans man for authenticity.
