Theory: this song is about culture clashes, the rio grande forms much of the US-Mexican border, it contains references to Moses, Moses was a adopted prince of Egypt and faced a tear between his birth and life as a Egyptian and his birth as a Hebrew.
That’s a beautiful interpretation
I interpreted it as continuing the theme of learning to love the stranger from previous albums, weaving the story of Moses into themes of Mexican refugees.

What an INCREDIBLE thing to wake up to! Not to get too sappy, but the day Boreas was released, I had something of an emotional breakdown (it was a long time coming) and things seemed horribly dark. I just recently I worked up the courage to ask for help, and I'm starting treatment in a few days. I'll take being surprised by this new EP as a sign that something good is coming. Things are turning around, and this music makes me feel alive in a way that's been hard to find as of late.

Boreas actually got me through part of leaving my abusive parents' house, that song means a lot to me now. Passerine, in the garden, through the valley, and constellations played a big part in it as well.
Soap was released ahead of this album the day I went into outpatient. I listened to it every single day, it,,,, it motivated me to try for myself. That I was worth it. I'm proud of you, loveli~ keep finding things about yourself to love! I believe in you💙
I found this band around the release of Zephyrus druting a terrible time in my life, but their music has helped me a lot (and continues to), it is insane what healing powers music can have.

@@therainbowwillow4453 ok so apparently the hebrew word for camel has been argued about becuase it can also translate to cable so im pretty sure what the line is trying to say, there's no use arguing of the minutae of the translation, the eye of a needle is tall enough to stand inside. it's not as hard to be a good person as others might make it seem

You were born in the right time span, and 2020 was a great year. This album proves it.
This is an amazing album, but it's pretty much the only good thing abt 2020

IT WAS MOST DEFINITELY WORTH STAYING UP UNTIL 3AM TO LISTEN TO THIS!!
I'm not religious but I have to thank the oh hello’s for this music, they are one of the only bands (who I listen too) that produce stories rather than sing about the same thing over and over. I got so tired of love songs or sex songs that I just naturally migrated to folk music, the messages in the albums can be read as “just be a good person” (along with religious references that feel natural rather than forced, I think they add beauty to the piece) and that's what I want. Music About loving other people in general not just romantically and the music just sounds so good. I often rely on music when painting because the feelings I tie to that song can help me with concepts, most of all my favorite paintings have been painted to oh hello’s songs.

From my own tastes and preferences, if you enjoy music that bears meaning, might I suggest Hozier? In my experience I have found his music has a similar essence of storytelling that you might find in that of The Oh Hello's.

My god I love this band. Discovered them a while back with dear wormwood, which I sadly relate to more than anyone should but let’s not get into that, and I’ve just been loving everything from them. This band makes such powerful music with such complex ideas behind their lyrics. It just makes them one of my favorites.

For all non-speakers of portuguese, Rio Grande means "Big river" and its a state in Brasil

Tell me why I just found out that each album has 7 total songs (For context, 7 is considered lucky in many Christian religions because of the many times God would use the number 7 as a measure or reference for someone/thing whenever they would ask for blessings of greatness and blessings in general. That's how it is in all the branches of Christianity I've been in anyway).
Fun fact: "Rio Grande" means "big river" in portuguese. It's also a name of two states in Brazil (my country)

This river runs through my hometown and seeing and hearing this song really hit home for me.
It's an important river here though many cultures from Hispanic to Indigenous and even settlers.
However the river is in danger as we don't know how much longer it will last. Water levels are getting dangerously low to the point where we can walk from riverbank to riverbank in a pair of waders. We can't really even take a boat or canoe down the river anymore and it's worse farther south. It is scary too because so many rely on this river as a major source of water and it is a plain tell on the water situation down here in the south.
