Always good to spread the airgun virus! Lol. I'm currently awaiting parts to arrive for my Gamo Socom Tactical. It's an older one. They quit making the Socom series around 2008 I believe. I was given the gun second hand and I've put about 12,000 shots through it myself. It was well used when I got it as well. The coil spring broke and the piston seal had seen better days. It always worked just at lower velocities there towards the end before I tore it down. I look forward to putting thousands more shots through it when my parts arrive. I have PCP and others too keep me plenty busy in the mean time. Lol. I enjoyed seeing your crony results and groups for the Gamo. Nothing refutes good science! Take care...
PS: I'm not a fan of the 10x system. I don't mind single loading them as that's how I've always done it.

Those NSA are for greater distances, beyond 75 meters. Shot them at that distance, and you'll get awesome groups. I had with my .22 Gen 2 10x Magnum 6cm groups at 90 meters.

Quite a complete test; which (again) prubes that, when shooting Magnum air rifles, the heavier the pellet, the better the accuracy as you get farther the transonic zone. Super rew. A PCP does not drop in Joule when weights go up. But this break barrel does.
    8,44/1090 = 30,2 J
    10,34/988 = 30,4 J
    13,43/742 = 22,3 J
    16,20/670 = 21,9 J
    slugs.
    13,43/798 = 23,1 J
    15,00/673 = 20,1 J
So 10 grains +/- seems to be "the magic number" ..

I don't understand why this happens, it's such a flaw especially when you're hunting game and that shot is supposed to count but no the bullet didn't load from the start.... kind of a let down but I guess that's why its not on the same level as pcps.

I know that mentioned GAMO air rifle, from a son-in-law who was so unlucky and buy it in delusion. It will never shoot better than a cheap Chinese broken spring, no matter what ammo you fill in it.
Both me and my wife can shoot 10 pellets groups of less than 9 mm at 25 meters with FX diabolo/JSB exact diabolo of 8.44 grain with an incredible speed of 322 m/s (1056 fps) in our new Air Venturi Avenger cal .177. The speed at which it takes place is absolutely insane. Tonight I will try if it is possible and imitate the art with our FX Impact M3.

    Hello
Greetings from El Salvador, Central America and Happy New Year.
    Very nice video.
Your testing makes me more confident regarding this rifle, because it looks not so much hold sensitive (you are shooting it resting over a semi hard surface and with your supporting hand in different positions. I mean you are not using the artillery hold technique) You are getting some pretty decent groups at 23 meter, for a magnum nitro piston break barrel.
Is the auto indexing mechanism reliable?
Do you think that the accuracy is affected by the pellet feeding from this magazine?
What is your experience with this rifle?
Do you recommend it for someone looking for a multipurpose rifle? (I would like to purchase one of these rifles)
    I will appreciate your comments.
    Kind regards.

      Hi Ricardo
      Thanks for your comment 🙂
If I was in the situation where I was to buy a gun, I would avoid a model with this type of magazine. Other might get it to work but I think that it was a problem and not helpfull.
If you are looking specificly for a Gamo I would go for another model.
And if you are open for another brand of gun that might be a better idea.

@@VikingAirgunner Actually, the less you touch a springer, the better. Any force you put into the stock is OK, but you have to repeat the force or the "vibration dynamics" are different. The gun is moving before the pellet leaves the barrel, so if it shakes the same, the muzzle will be in the same spot when the pellet leaves it. It is just easier to repeat "zero force" (or as close as you can get to it), than it is to repeat any force from your hands, cheek, shoulder. I got a bit longer trigger screw for my Gamo Mag 22 Gen2, and it is needed, because basically, when you are not touching the gun, it moves easily by just pulling the trigger. Your 20 yard groups will become 60 yard groups, if you let it shake its groove thing. So I just have the gun fore stock resting on my hand/forearm, my middle finger in the trigger, with my index finger along side the stock for a bit of stability, and my trigger hand grip the only force into the stock, and as little as possible. I like to feel the weight of the gun at the crotch of my thumb and fore finger, and I pull my elbow to my ribs, (to let the gun just sit a bit better). Before I pull the trigger, I push the butt stock away from my face and my shoulder. Now if you can pull the trigger with out moving the gun, you will amaze yourself with good pellets, good scope, to 80 yard 2" groups.
It is not hard in the field either. Grab a branch, (or anything), and rest the fore stock on your fore arm. Every time you miss, you will remember you grabbed the gun too tight. Come on man. 20 yard tests are for sling shots. :)
If you don't touch it, even the least expensive break barrel guns will amaze you to 80 yards, (assuming good pellets and everything operates as it should.).

Surprised you didn't try the Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum 10.5gr as it's a fairly inexpensive pellet and shoots decently straight. It is also widely available even at places like W-lmart. Great range though! I like your shelter as i'm sure it provides protection from both the elements and prying eyes.

      Hey man 🙂
      Thanks for your comment 🙂
There are a bunch of pellets and slugs that I would love to have tried, but these were just what I had in stock😃
But I sure that there are many that will perform well - and even better than the ones I tested. So the Crossman could easily be one of them 😎
Thanks for sharing your thoughts mate 🙂

Something is wrong here, when it comes to measuring velocity/energy: from the first pellet model to that of 16.2 grains there is a drop of 10 Joules. I wouldn't trust that FX chronometer.

    • @VikingAirgunner
      @VikingAirgunner  Рік тому

I dont know if I have the right explanaition - or the full explanaition.
First up the FX Chrono is very accurate when measured up against much more expensive chronographs. Go and find the videos about it and you will see.
As for the energy of the gun it is roughly the same shot by shot, but not all energy is tranfered into the velocity of the ammonition. The size of the ammonition plays a big role and from a 8,44 to a 16,2 gr there is a big difference. And from pellets to slugs the difference is even bigger. Think about the surface of the ammonition that has contact to the barrel. Bigger surface - more resistance - less velocity.

    • @DrAgan_tortojed
      @DrAgan_tortojed Рік тому

@@VikingAirgunner OK, I see what you mean. But, then again, the better (tighter) contact between the pellet and the barrel means the pressurized air is more efficient (less air "leakage").

I guess it is time for a truth campaign for all these Professional videos touting Gamo as such excellent air rifles.
The truth is Gamo is junk and none of them will ever shoot with acceptable accuracy that can be relied upon for precise humane hunting of small game. You will end up wounding more small game animals than humanely killing them.
I am 67 years young and I have shot springers for over 30 years and I have several that can consistently shoot a dime sized group at 50 yards. When I pick up any Gamo and shoot it and at 25 yards the target group is a two inch group with additional flyers out to 4 or five inches, hint....it is a junk rifle. I can assure you I know how to shoot a springer, these rifles quite simply are not accurate at all.
So lets look at the facts.
Gamo rifles are not accurate. They will wound more animals than kill them. If shooting at only targets I would be ashamed to show how inaccurate they are on camera. Those are not acceptable and or respectable groups, they are deplorable. Awful, terrible, is there even a word for them?
You can feed it any ammo you desire, none will have acceptable accuracy.
This particular model is touted as having super and wonderful iron sights. The truth is that the stock comb is so high the iron sights are not usable and require a very uncomfortable slide down the side of the stock to even see the iron sights. Therefore you might as well not have them.
Yes it is a powerful airgun and produces a high FPE , however it takes two men and a boy to cock it , well not really but it is hard to cock. This cocking force equates to high recoil and even with a properly mounted scope and consistent checks on all the screws and fasteners both on the rifle and the scope mounts and with the stop pin properly seated and held secure with lock-tite, after a few hundred shots you will see the scope has moved back a small amount. Closer inspection will reveal that the stop pin is eating away at the rear of the hole provided for the stop pin. The rifles receiver is not hardened at that point and eventually the stop pin will simply eat an oblong hole in the receiver.
This rifle will eventually kill even an approved scope designed for air rifles. My Gamo Magnum .22 Gen Two killed a Hawke airmax scope. Hawke honored it even though I did tell them what happened to it. I still have it, really do not wish to sell it to some unsuspecting aspiring air gunner. I could dig a hole and bury it, and I have come to the conclusion this may well be the best option. Perhaps I could give it to the local police and have them melt it down. Grin! I would feel bad selling it to someone is what I am saying.
So now that you have shot 500 pellets or so though this mechanical wonder you wish to clean the barrel. Good luck with this one!! There are ways to do this such as using a regular cleaning rod and or a drinking straw and weed eater string however that huge bulb permanently fixed on the end of the barrel has baffles in it that will catch and steal any patch that dares come close enough to them. This huge bulb also collects a substantial amount of lead dust within it and to clean that out requires removing the pins on the end of it and a good scrubbing with hot water and soap and an old toothbrush. That thing will be full of lead dust.
I think everyone should go get themselves a Gamo, at least once in life and if it does not completely destroy your desire to participate in the sport of airgunning, it will at least show you what a junk product is really like.
As you can tell I am not a paid you tube creator with the agenda to promote Gamo.
Go get you one, it is an experience everyone should have at least once. Grin!
    Cheers
    Kit

@@edge6441 I always recommend the HW95 as it is an very, very accurate air rifle quite capable of dime sized groups and has a short learning curve and is easy to shoot and easy to cock and has adequate power for small game if you prefer to hunt. Another name for this rifle is Beeman R9. They can be found on sale sometimes for around 350 dollars. The difference is Gamo will leave you frustrated, where the HW will cause you to smile and start you on a long enjoyable experience with air guns.
Gamo is Gamo, they are what they are and none of them ever provide acceptable accuracy.
