    Locke's life from beginning to end was just tragic. Even his death is overlooked by the fans, we didnt mourn him because we thought he was back from the dead. Then when its revealed hes actually dead there's so much else going on its not a moment we process.
    He was a sad, lonely man who never actually got any answers, no greater purpose, just used and manipulated his entire life. Absolutely bloody tragic!

    I knew the minion would get the worst beatdown of his life after this episode. This season finale is the most heartbreaking. I grew to like Juliet (after many re-watches mind you; I didn't always like her), so her death is the most heartbreaking of the whole series (but a heroic one, too!) The fact that Sawyer had to watch her die just breaks me.

    Actually if you rewatch season 2 Elie alot of the answers to the season 2 mysteries with Dharma Iniative, The Polar Bears the Statue resurfacing, All the Hatches, The Incident were all answered in this season alone. Also remember the electromagntism pull things down so theroretically if the Hydrogen bomb went off it didn't exploded it imploded (Just like what happened in the season 2 finale) thus giving the Dharma people time to finish building the station. Maybe Daniel's original theory was correct all along. What happened happened. They caused their own suffering. Season 2 and Season 5 were interconnected and the final season will circle back around to Season 1.

  • @anomalysakawendy5096
    @anomalysakawendy5096 5 днів тому +5

    Puncturing that pocket of electromagnetism is a cataclysmic event. I mean, a small, abated release is what brought down their plane. Left unchecked... everything would continue to be sucked down. Everything. Eloise lived through this. It's why she said if the O6 don't go back... then 'God help us all.' She knew that Jack & Co were essential to surviving the incident. (Exactly like Desmond turning the FailSafe key to save everything in S2. No doubt how they knew to put that in.)
    Believing in variables got Jack to do exactly what he was always meant to do. So no matter what this detonation might bring about... If they hadn't gone back and tried Daniel's idea, then the incident occurs anyway, and who knows how far reaching that could be.

    Jack's first flashback is the story that Jack told Kate in the first episode of the show (the one about counting to 5).
    It seems that Jacob "revived" Locke by touching him. I will explain that near the end of the series how that was possible.
    Now that you know that the man in black is the fake Locke, you will also know that Eloise told Jack that Locke will be a substitute, so when Locke's corpse arrived on the island, the man in black was Christian and he took Locke's corpse to change his appearance, he was also the fake Jemy (Eko's brother) in the episode that Eko died.
    About the cabin it seems that it was a meeting place between Richard and Jacob. The detail of the ashes I will tell in the next episode, just like the bomb

    Jacob visited some of the Oceanic 815 characters in important times in their lives. He met Jack when he performed a surgery on that girl. We know the story from S1E1 and also it was mentioned later in S3. But it was never mentioned that it was his father that told him to count to 5. And now that we know this, watching this scene in pilot episode, seeing Jack in tears we know that he was so much in pain after losing his father, even tho he didn't really wanna show it 😢. Not a good day for the J's. Jacob, John, Juliet and Jughead disappear or die.

  • @jhc3115
    @jhc3115 6 днів тому +5

    Man, thank you so much for doing this. You dont idea how much i wait for your reactions to pops up. It really an event. Its the only way to get close to the feeling of seeing the show for the first time. ABOUT THE EPISODE. I think the cliffhanger of this episode is awesome. Its amazing how they keep the things interesting for so long, is season five man and they still delivered a great season finale. Now im going for the bad, first of all Lost is my fav show, i always defend it, i think the job they did with it in a total different era of tv shows, how they managed to solve it knowing that when they started they didnt have any idea of what to do. What they accomplished is awesome, they find a way to do a coherent story with an amazing arc for some of the characters. So what iam going to said are just thoughts of a fan years after the show ended knowing his legacy will be intact no matter of what. Now... I have to said it JACOB, i have lot of problems with his introduction. We knew about jacob since season 3, we always hear his name, he always was hinted, and for some reason we never were able to see it until the end of season 5. Back then fans were all over the place speculating about the identity of jacob. Why? Because obviously if they are hiding it is for something, right?. He has to be someone we knew. Time travel elements started to appear from season 3 too, so this help that idea. Jacob could be someone who travelled through time. Some people thought jack was jacob, because his name, the tatoo about he is not one of us, some thought christhian shepard was, he always showed up, he saw almost everyone before the flight. My theory was that he was John Locke, he always loved the island, everyone keep telling him he was special, and was seem that he was going to be the leader of the others. So imagine the dissappointment of everyone with this guy showed up. I think he does a great job playing the part. Now i accepted as jacob of course, i accepted that the story they were telling was different to the one we made in our minds. But still watching everything again, they could set up this way better. Imagine how cool would have been if the guy who played jacob popped up during the flashbacks from season 1-3, or at least season 3. Just small cameo without revealing his identity. Similar to Richard who appeared in several flashback, similar to christian who did the same. Now we have to believe, in the end of season 5, that this guy was around on their lives all along, and i have to confess, for me is so hard to buy it. For me Jacob, the guy who was hyped up from three season deserved a more powerfull intervention. And also John Locke, but i will leave that one for next season.

    @jdub4670 5 днів тому +2

    Locke’s story is one of a kind, it’s sad that his character didn’t seem to get a proper send off. But I think Juliet’s story is often underrated as well. Parents divorced at a young age, sister wanted to become a mom but got cancer, she married an asshole (possibly to advance her research?), created a miracle by growing life for her sister, gets tricked into going to an island where Ben essentially kidnapped her, then she met a bunch a crazies who fell out of the sky and is suddenly in the 1970’s, where she finally builds a happy life before literally nuking the whole thing in an effort to start over.

    • @mikemoring
      @mikemoring 3 дні тому +1

      It gets even more tragic when you consider that the fertility issue for which Juliet is brought to the Island to solve was caused, in fact, by the detonation of Jughead. "We are the cause of our own suffering."

      @@TJMalana The story goes that Jack Bender was the only person on the creative team outside of the writers room who knew from the outset that John Locke was, in fact, dead and Terry O'Quinn was now playing the villainous "Man in Black." When he was given the script for The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham (which, naturally, was helmed by Jack Bender), Terry O'Quinn approached Jack and said, "I'm going to play him like he's suddenly got all the confidence in the world, like he's a new man who feels immortal." Jack, knowing this to be the perfect angle, simply assured him that was a good idea and encouraged him to lean into that. Sawyer might still have lingering feelings for Kate, and it probably really did hurt Juliet when he looked at Kate instead of her after Rose and Bernard spoke about the important thing is being together, but like Sawyer said, he chose Juliet. But I can see how seeing an ex that you didn't get closure with might spark some lingering feelings. That said, Kate and Sawyer only had a fleeting flirtation/relationship for maybe 3 months 3 years ago. He was with Juliet for several years. It was way too soon to come to the conclusion that he loved Kate more than her. But childhood trauma shapes how you act as an adult.
    If they had more time, I feel like they would have worked it out, but naturally they were limited to a window of only a few hours. It often takes longer than that to realize your initial reaction/feelings aren't rational. It ok and valid to feel them but acting in the heat of the moment isn't the best idea.

    Man, I nearly choked when he said that. I've seen the show close to two dozen times and I never once made that connection.

      I haven't noticed it in all these years either. But then I restrained myself and did not write about it, because I was afraid to give a hint that would have a spoiler effect. But now you can. By the way, a lot of people wrote about it in the comments then, I read and was very worried that Elie would guess, but I'm glad he didn't guess

    So sad that John did actually die that day and never got to be a leader.
    The look on Ilana’s face when Richard knew the answer to the statue question was great.
    I quickly stop laughing of course because of what comes afterwards, but Juliet’s scream when she gets dragged to the floor is hilarious.
    Kate’s fastest mind change ever, based on
    Nothing except jacks good looks.
    Sawyer shud b able to win against Jack in a fight.
    That end scene with Juliet n sawyer was heartbreaking. I was never a fan of Juliet (didn’t like the way the actress played her) but omg was horrible to watch this. Reminded me of the opening scene from Cliffhanger, which scarred me for life.
    The screen going white at the end was fantastic. What a Brilliant season finale.

    They got to the Swan so quick because Hurley drove them in the van.

    Now we know Locke potentially died twice. The first time, Jacob’s touch appeared to bring him back to life after he was pushed from that 8th floor window. The second time when Ben strangled him was his second death. RIP John Locke

      @@nickstark8640 While I would typically say “dead is dead” I do actually agree Locke momentarily died from the fall.
      The only reason I feel comfortable saying that is because it was so soon after he died. We saw Jack bring Charlie back to life in season one when he had been dead for several minutes.
      So I do think Jacob has the ability to bring someone back to life if it is soon enough that modern medicine could theoretically intervene to save someone.

    • @nickstark8640

      I understand why this is debated. Then again, this is not an ordinary show. No one in recorded history has ever fallen from that height and landed on their back and survived. Remember Locke was told it was a miracle he survived. Locke wasn’t resuscitated by some procedure. He literally had hands laid on him and was instantaneously revived.

    • @Weinzierl1973
      @Weinzierl1973 6 днів тому +3

      @@nickstark8640 I also understand why it is debated, but the original comment is stated as if it was fact. And it is not fact, is subjective, and reasonable people can come to different conclusions so telling Elie this as if it is fact will not be beneficial for his viewing.
