That is a WOWZA! Hope your husband liked it and learned do not bring a pretend wood anything home, ever. Love those pieces and so masculine but still lovely.
I’m gonna watch again prob tomarrow cuz worked 2 basically 13 hour day shifts Thurs and today-Friday!!! Tired, throbbing headache until around 4pm-finally started easing off to dull. 2 nurse call outs both days in a row-floor nurses having to take 6 patients each (which is too much) and I’m in charge!!!! Long 2 days!!! Have a Wonderful weekend💖🌻💖
This is perfect! The taping was worth it to get the look you got. I love the stain with the black and The Godfather on the drawers is brilliant! Very classy, masculine and sophisticated. Thank you for a delightful Friday night!🌸
Think this is worth a night out at a great restaurant given from the recipient of this beautiful desk. Love what you did with the sides of the drawers. I can't let the sides go anymore without doing something special to them because of you! Great work as usual.
I always find myself smiling from ear to ear as I watch your process. Not only do I always learn something, but the heart you have for the work is just so inspiring! I'm reminded of something I read years ago about how apparently "simple" pieces of music can actually require enormous complexity to achieve. This is indeed an elegant upgrade, and surely your husband will love it :
That makes me so happy, Tawney! Thank you for making my evening. I’m glad it comes through how much I love working on these projects and that I’m sharing enough for you to pick some things up along the way.
Haha!!! Thank you for that, Emer! I wanted to add in a couple hidden quotes, but I couldn’t remember his favorites and didn’t want to ask and give something away. I should have just used that!
@@elegantupgrades Aw that would have been funny. You did an amazing job. Did you find it more stressful when it's a piece for your hubby? I have to do my son's dresser and my daughters and I'm so stressed about both of them already. I want it be just right for them.
SO. MUCH. MORE. STRESSFUL!!! I usually just do whatever I want and sell it. I was so worried about him liking this. And I had no feedback since it was a surprise so I was just hoping it all worked out. I completely understand being stressed about doing their dressers! It’s very daunting when it’s for the people we love. And then we worry- are they just saying they like it because they don’t want to hurt our feelings?! Ugh!
SO BEAUTIFUL AND MASCULINE! Your husband is lucky to have you! The piece is gorgeous! I love the two tones and the frame details on the small inner drawer and the external one! The only thing I would have done differently is paint the handles also black. But this personal preference... Amazing and elegant transformation! Thanks so much for sharing

hi Taryn…..what a handsome piece! I think your hubby will love it!! Great mix of black and stain….and the side of the drawer surprise is just cool! thank you for sharing😊kim

What would you fill it with besides books and papers? My husbands parents have one in their garage and are offering it to us when we get a house. I really want it but I want it to have a purpose!
My husband actually uses it for his laptop- it fits inside the desk portion when folded up and then pulls it out and uses it as his desk. That same area also houses pens/pencils, tape, calculator - you know, actual office type items. The drawers he actually uses for storage of all kinds. We don’t like stuff just sitting out so they have a “spot”. So he has cords that are only needed sometimes, charging units for when power goes out, and handy items like pocket knives and quick tools he needs to get to without having to grab something from the garage. One of them is kind of a “catch all” drawer with a lot of Lucas’ posters and drawings he’s made for him. The top hutch section he actually does use for books, but he also has put some trays in that hold our batteries and such. It’s been a great addition to our home. I would absolutely grab it. And just make it your own. You could use it near the kitchen and use it as a mini pantry or coffee station. You could put it in a kids room and do clothes in the bottom, use the desk as a desk and the hutch would be for items that are more decorative and don’t get played with as much- or books. Or in an office- and use it much like we do. Just throwing out ideas now 😂 Hope it was at least a little helpful.

If you wanted a similar finish, instead of the movie poster on the drawer sides, you could do a floral print or perhaps a print of one of your favorite paintings. You could also go lighter with the same idea just color match from whatever image you use. Or completely change the whole thing up and do a soft blend with your favorite colors and do a soft stencil over it in a similar color just a bit lighter so you can only see it when the light hits it in a certain way. There are so many options! I hope you find one that suits your needs, Lori!
