Taryn, you are like some sort of "furniture miracle worker"! Keep them!! They are truly one of a kind. Your step dad knew you could do something amazing with that desk and look, he was right!
Haha! Definitely not a miracle worker 😂 I’m just trucking along hoping that in the end it turns out. Thankfully this one did, but there were a few moments (make that about 50,000) where I was having fits and asking myself what I was doing.
I concur Dr they do look awesome! It appeared to me that the piece was a Dr's or Lawyers credenza from an office or library. Those drawers are file drawers. Very nice job young lady. You are good!
Thanks, Cheryl! Yeah, some kind of office for sure. I’d really love to know where they originally came from. So weird to just have them out on a curb. I did remove all of the filing rails so they will just function as normal drawers from here on out. I just didn’t want anything to catch on them if they were used for something that could potentially snag on the metal runners.
You have created two beautiful, functional pieces out of a very weird piece of furniture. The tops turned out beautifully and what a creative way to use flooring. Who would have thought? They are lovely, great job on your part.
Wow let me just say You scored with those Oak Tops and You Made the tops Look absolutely gorgeous....And that Moody Swirly Ethereal vibe just Outstanding my friend ..I Love these large nightstands...🥰❣️👍
@@elegantupgrades I Laughed so hard when I heard you say about the bonfire🤣🤣❣️I DEFINITELY Have Had Pieces that Looked Better as Building A Nice fire. For warmth. .🤣🤣❣️
So glad that no stain was used on this walnut. Like the finished effect of your paint techniques.. Totally engrossing to watch how you solved each problem as it came up..
What an outstanding transformation. Learned a lot. What can I say, you are a master furniture artist and very generous in teaching your viewers your techniques and demonstrating your skill. What lovely pieces derived from a very unloveable piece of furniture.
You are just amazing as always, no matter how big the challenge. They turned out beautiful! The tops are so perfect. I really love these but then again I love all of your furniture “upgrades”! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, as always I learned something new.❤️❤️
Hi Taryn….Now that is certainly an Elegant Upgrade‼️❣️ Wow using the resin, making the molds, the colors, metallic, oh that gorgeous walnut floor top (all that you did to get it just right) Simply amazing! They are gorgeous🤩🌟 I just love them!! You always seem to pull a rabbit out of a hat…lol Your skills are vast …using a planer and router…like I said girl you have skills‼️‼️ thanks for sharing😊kim
Hey, Kim! Thank you so much! It’s certainly is handy to be able to use those tools- they make things possible that I wouldn’t dream of doing otherwise. Bring on the rabbits!!! 🐇🎩
Taryn, could you do a video on using the resin? I am so impressed that you thought of that to fix the pressboard. I don’t know how and when to use it. I would love a video on it. Thanks! Incredible work on this piece!
These turned out so nice! I especially love what you did to the tops. One would never guess that it is floring. It makes a very durable surface. I would d definitaly use that idea. I really dislike the formica as a top surface. Good, good job!
Seemed like so much work but you have the patience to do all the steps that is required. I loved the wooden top, did cost you anything maded it worth while. Well done!
I’m glad you liked the marking V! It has helped me so much! And I just cleaned it. It was brass so it didn’t need much. I think I hit a couple high points with the leftover Rub n’ Buff mixture to tie them in a bit better.
I just found your videos and I just want to first of all give a shout out to your "Step Dad" Out of the 3 videos I have watched you have given him credit for bringing you all three pieces.......second.......I love your work as well and will continue to watch=)
Thank you so much! Yeah, he’s pretty awesome. He’s been working down south (Southern California) and in his off time keeps finding free stuff so he just brings it home. When I’m home in Portland I have to find and pick up everything on my own so it’s a HUGE help. I’m incredibly grateful.
Nice work!! New blades please. There is just about nothing more dangerous than dull blades!! Plus all the extra work. I own a shop and can tell just about all accidents are from dull blades and bits. Backed the video up, it looks like your blade just is full of pitch. You can get rid of that with oven cleaner. Take the blade out and spray it let it sit and then a tooth brush will clean it up
Absolutely beautiful !!! Perfect example of making a "silk purse from a sow's ear" and they say it can't be done. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Karen! 👛🐷
Those were a lot of work, but they are lovely. The wood for the tops was such a fabulous gift! So beautiful!!!!!
Thank you so much, Gail! I’m so happy I didn’t end up lighting them on fire 😂

2 for 1! That was a very odd desk, so this was a great upcycle lol! 🤍🤍
Yes- So strange! But I do love a good 2 for 1.
I love them. The walnut flooring makes a gorgeous wood top. You did an amazing job on these and I love the finish you created.🌸
Thanks, Deborah! Yeah, I feel like I got so lucky with the tops!
When I saw them I said … nightstands! They turned out really lovely. You are so lucky you have people who pick you up road finds. Awesome!
Thank you, Kim! I know, it’s so strange not having to find everything on my own 😳 I don’t know what to do with the spare time- wait…😂
I am continually being amazed how you craftsman can take a piece of yucky whatever and create a beautiful piece of furniture. Neat job!
Thank you, Christina 🥰 That’s so very kind of you to say.

Your vision and artistry never cease to amaze me.
Thank you, that’s very kind 🥰

Thank you, Janet! I was so happy with how the flooring turned out- so fun!
Your step dad has a lot of faith in your ability...great compliment 👍😉
He’s the best!

I know! I got super lucky! Otherwise I think those things would have ended up in a bonfire 😂 They made me mad so many time.
@@elegantupgrades I Laughed so hard when I heard you say about the bonfire🤣🤣❣️I DEFINITELY Have Had Pieces that Looked Better as Building A Nice fire. For warmth. .🤣🤣❣️
This would make a good sewing desk with all those drawers, you could store so many fat quarters!😍
It definitely would have!
They really came together beautifully. The walnut, the color and the pulls! Totally awesome!
Thank you so much!
Your voice over descriptions are great for those among us who are not ‘artists’. 👍
I’m so glad! I always hope I get everything to come across right.
Wow - you worked hard on these and it shows! They’re beautiful!
Thank you so much, Michele!
So glad that no stain was used on this walnut. Like the finished effect of your paint techniques.. Totally engrossing to watch how you solved each problem as it came up..
Thank you, Nancy! And that walnut was absolutely gorgeous on its own 😍
My sister was a home builder and that is what she did to make her marks to cut wood. Love your style!
That’s awesome! Thank you for sharing about your sister!
What an outstanding transformation. Learned a lot. What can I say, you are a master furniture artist and very generous in teaching your viewers your techniques and demonstrating your skill. What lovely pieces derived from a very unloveable piece of furniture.
