I did love the venity design, but the end tables are looking great. I appreciate the lesson I need to learn that work on a piece does not always turn out the way we first envision it to be, but the outcome is just terrific. Loved the blending, worth the work you put into the pieces.
Yeah, I was a little bummed about the center section being broken. But nightstands always do well for me so it wasn’t the end of the world, but then the napkins turned green and I was having a fit 😂 It happens. Glad they came together in the end.
What is so nice about upgrading old furniture is that you can have a completely original, one of a kind, item of furniture that has character. I do not have any furniture in my house that I bought new. I've made it look like the modern trends that I like, and my home is very personal to me.
As an artist myself it’s easy to see what an fine artist you are. Don’t doubt yourself. You are incredibly talented. I loved your Snow White & Alice in wonderland pieces. Would love to see more in same manner. Much love coming your way!
I love these. In the final pictures they seem to be almost autumnal which I love. As you know I love your work and this is no exception. Please don’t stop telling us what does what, like water softens water stain and mineral spirits soften gel stains. It is common sense but that is because you have been doing this for some time but sometimes when your stain is to dark and you are new to this , your mind goes blank until it becomes common sense to us so keep giving these hints please no matter how many times you say it. Thank you!!
You are SO right! Thank you for mentioning that, Deborah! I’ll try to keep that in mind for the future. I feel like I’m just talking to people who are right along with me and forget that some have only just started.
Beautiful! The napkins were VERY pretty to start and I thought rut row when they turned … but as usual they ended up lovely. Watching you struggle a bit made me smile cause that’s me every time. You’re a blessing to me and many. Just keep moving forward.
Haha! “Rut row” had me laughing! I appreciate you so much, Kim! Thank you. I’m so glad we all have similar experiences to share! Otherwise I’d feel a bit more defeated I think 😅
I think I like them with the olive coloring, Taryn. Especially with the floral on the drawer bottoms. These feel like they were actually designed like this in the ‘30s when they were made. The color combination of that green with that blue with the floral of the napkins really makes them seem like freshened-up original pieces. I love the drawer pulls and the darker stain on the tops. Sometimes the furniture just goes the way it goes. Someone is going to snatch these up!🌸
I was sweating these ones, Deborah 😅 I let them sit for a few days just because they weren’t what I envisioned. But I love that you said they have a ‘30s vibe. That makes me feel a lot better about them. I mean, I like them, they just aren’t what I originally had in mind. Such is old furniture. You’d think I’d know by now 😂
Thank you, Christy! The middle was broken on this one so I used the veneer on it for another piece. I’ve also made a mini desk to fit in a closet out of the middle section of another piece. They have so many options!
Has everyone ever Thought about using the middle piece for a shelf that way it will stay out of the landfill if not do you save whatever you can and use it on other things I am going to try this to see what I can do I love your pieces they’re awesome thank you for sharing
In the last one I did, I used the middle section to create a sewing desk in my little sisters closet- worked like a dream! And this middle section was split in half, but I did already use the veneer on it to patch another top I was working on so I tend to use everything I can. Thank you for being here, Elizabeth!
Hi Taryn….I think the vanity would have been nice but I think the nightstand angle is just so much more practical….def easier to sell and probably bigger profit margin. Everyone needs nightstands and a vanity is nice if you have the space…that said I love the green mixed with the blue….they turned out very nice! I know when you have a vision and doesn’t work it kinda sucks but I call them happy accidents or changes….also love the color of the tops! You are wonderful and look forward to our weekly visit…thank you for sharing 😊kim
Yes, definitely a bigger profit margin! And you’re right, happy accidents and all that. Once I get over the idea that I don’t always get my way 😂 Thank you so much, Kim!
Those turned out beautifully even though things went sideways for a bit. I am in the midst of a simaler project. If i wasnt already intending to paint them black I would be trying that blended color combo! So pretty!
Funny How the process don't always go as planned and Yes separating into bedsides was definitely a good choice and I Absolutely love the Blend ..I Swear Antique and vintage furniture Sometimes Dictates What They Want Done to them..I Know this sounds Weird But Has Happened to Me Loads of times where my original plan No matter What I did Etc ..nothing worked so I Have Had to Go with the flow ..I bet this has happened to You🥴🤣🥰❣️❣️❣️❣️
@@elegantupgrades trust me I Know this attitude Soo well...But always once I give in and Just go with the flow of what these pieces want ..I Actually love how each one ends up..my husband thinks it's funny 😂 🤣❣️
Thank you so much! Would you mind me asking your first name? I always see your comments and I’d love to be able to respond with your name, but I completely understand if you’d rather not share. I just appreciate you being here!
I use a lot of color behind my decoupage, white does give the truest color finish, but in this case it wouldn’t have mattered. The green ink in the napkins was what caused the discoloration. I have other papers that do the same and I just prepare for it. I just wasn’t prepared for these ones. Oh well, I’ll know for the next time I use them.
White wouldn’t have worked here. The green in the napkins bled when mixed with the poly. I have tissue paper that does the same thing and since I hadn’t used these particular napkins before, I didn’t prepare for it. Ah well, I know for next time.
I loved the blue, too! And a white base wouldn’t have helped in this case, it was the green ink in the paper. No matter what color I used it would have seeped. I have a floral tissue paper that does the same thing and I just prepare for it now. This was my first time with these particular napkins so I didn’t take precautions. I know for next time, though 😂

I don’t personally like Modpodge for decoupage, but it could work for you! The paint under the napkin would distort the print I think, but it’s always worth a try, Amina.
Turned out very delicate and pretty . I had a question ..On the one napkin you separated the two plys but on the other you left the napkin together . Does it make a difference weather you tear them apart or not ?
Napkins I’ve used in the past haven’t bled like these ones, but I do have some tissue paper that has done the same thing. And so far I’ve noticed it being the green ink. It’s just not meant for decoupage so they aren’t always color fast. There are some things you can do to prevent it if you expect it to happen. With the tissue paper that I have, I just embrace it and know it’s going to happen and design the look around it.
Question: I have a china cabinet my grandfather made for my mother and I inherited it when she passed a few years ago. It's been in a storage unit for 2 years and some water must've gotten in at some point, and there is green and white mold all along the base of the cabinet from the floor to about 8 inches up. What can I do to restore this, as it is a family heirloom and my grandfather was in WWI - so it's very important to our family. HELP!
Oh I’m so sorry, Michelle! The best thing I’ve found for mold/mildew has been bleach. I water it down in a spray bottle and do several coats. I also make sure it’s out in the sun because that boosts it as well. That kills everything. Then you may still have staining- for that I would use oxalic acid. Be sure to rinse both products off well. From there it depends on the finish you are going for. But those two things should get you to a decent base to work from. They are both a stinky process, but definitely worth it.
The blue to green ombre gives me earth and sky vibes, so great job making it work 💙💚
Oooo! Earth and sky- I love that! Thank you!
I think they turned out how they were suppose too , they have great depth easy to live with lovely
I agree, I like how the green was a complimentary contrast to the blue, lol if that makes sense
Thank you, Caroline! “Easy to live with” I love that!

Wow! Thank you, Jeannie! I really appreciate that. I have a little table coming up in a few videos- still deciding on the print in top, though 🧐

Your instincts are always spot on! Napkins ARE hard to work with. Beautiful job❣️
Thanks, LaVonne! I don’t know about my instincts being spot on- I just do what the furniture tells me to 🤣

Thank you, Christine! Sometimes I don’t get much choice in it- stubborn furniture 😂
The blending was the perfect solution. Well done!
Thanks, Nancy! I was stuck on them for a hot minute 😅
So lovely….they’d be great in my home for sure….neutral…nature…love them!💖💖💖
Thank you, Glenda! That’s an incredible compliment!
Thanks for a longer video with lots of detail. They look great!
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Barb! Thank you!
They're beautiful. You could make a storage footstool/ottoman out of the middle.

You gave a beautiful personality, someone will love these and take them to a new forever home. A big wave 👋 from Murfreesboro Tennessee
You are just the best, Cassie! Thank you so much!

Napkins should have white paint behind them, that would have given you the blue you was looking for.
They look great thou.

maybe next time paint where the napkins are going in white to get a truer colour - they worked out fantastic

I love the blue...do you think blue would have stayed true if you had painted the drawer white first? You did a great time❤

Would it have worked if you had put down a layer of wet paint, then stuck the napkins into it, and covered with modpodge?

Oh yes! I had already done the other napkin before filming, it does matter. You definitely want to take the additional layers off.
Do napkins normally change color. What caused the napkins to change ge colors? Beautiful by the way
