I have an H3 & met a guy here in town with an H2...got to talking and he showed me his completely destroyed interior. He had gone camping and a bear had gotten into the Hummer and tore it apart. Guy decided to leave it as is for a conversation piece & to be fair it's a pretty badass story to have for a vehicle.

On the sync for the climate control, yes it does have a disable for the passenger zone. You press and hold the auto button until they go into sync. Same with all the other GM digital dual zone.

My parents have a 4L60E anomaly. They bought a brand new Suburban in 2003, and it currently has about 275k miles on the original transmission. And it’s fine.

So long as you don't tow (or use tow/haul when you do) and keep the fluid serviced, and don't drive it like a yobbo, they last.

Among the million “complaints” that are exaggerated here the 4l60e is NOT the turd that their reputation implies. I use an lq9 in front of one for heavy towing for years and 265k miles and I mean 10k regularly. Keep it cool and don’t neutral drop and they’re good.

As recently as eighteen months ago H1s and H2s were easy to find in conditions ranging from "it's what was left after war ended" to "like newish". Prices ranged from "what is todays price for scrap metal" to " Holy crap! What are you smoking?" And they were NOT selling. Almost as soon as the new EV Hummer was announced all those used H1s and H2s seemed to fly off used car lots. Here in our little town H2s have become a common sight compared to two years ago when the only one I ever saw on the road was a heavily "pimped out" white H2 driven by a local teenager. One local dealer, who sells every H1 and H2 he can get in, told me that many of his buyers are open about the fact that they always wanted an H1 or H2 but waited too long to get one when they were new but don't want the EV version in any trim level or price point.

@@christopherhindle8371 I think you have a point. A gent that lives about three blocks from us now owns four H2s. One is a "rolling billboard" for his business with a very eye-catching wrap while the others are black, red, and what looks like a very dark blue. All four reside in a very nice garage. The one with the wrap was/is white and is the only one he drives on a regular basis.

I rebuilt a 2005 and I can tell you once you have it dialed in they are amazing vehicles. I keep kicking myself for selling it but trading up for the new Hummer EV1 was worth it. You can direct swap in the electric fans from an Escalade, the wiring is from Nelson Performance, and all you have to do is add 2 pins in the ECU harness and unlock the function. You said you were going to tune out the speed limiter, might as well do the electric fan upgrade. Made a world of difference on mine. Alos, the body noise you are feeling is most likely coming from your body mounts. Good luck finding GM ones. Took me 6 months to locate OEM mounts (aftermarket doesn't exist anymore) and the cost on them was upwards of $1200. But, after I replaced the mounts it rode like a Cadillac.

That flat tow package on the front is the same set up as my friend's 4 door 4 wheel drive Chevy dually. When we worked out of state, he would tow the dually behind his Prevost bus. The dually usually had a 16 or 20 foot enclosed trailer behind it too. We called it the land train. I have a short video of it on my channel somewhere. Pretty ridiculous but the bus pulled it all like a champ. We just had to plan the route because backing up was not an option. lol

I used to have a 2005 Hummer H2 (adventure edition). Mine had the well it would look cheesey and cheap now but the touch screen radio. It did have one saving grace, the factory Alpine system was incredible. That truck could get pretty loud inside. At least I can say I've owned one of each (H1, H2 and H3T), but today it's a Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator.
If there was ever one vehicle I miss it was the 2010 H3T. There were only 125 ever made and each one is pretty much a unicorn car.

So many memories in this one. We had a 98 Venture with the onboard compressor, handy little tool. The rear seat controls in this remind me of the Venture as well (although it did not have heated seats anywhere). I put an aftermarket XM in a 2001 S10, loved the pause feature and missed it in my factory units (when I still listened to XM). Looking forward to seeing your plans for this. Thanks for everything you do ~ Chuck

For being a vehicle that looks large on the outside, the inside is relatively small and cramped. We looked at a 2009 back in the day and decided to buy an Armada instead as it had way more room on inside. We ended up owning 5 Armadas over the years; 2019 was the last one. All of them were reliable and great SUVs for us. We bought a 2020 Silverado 1500 Duramax to replace the last Armada. We loved that truck. Recently we decided to buy a 24 MB GLS AMG. My old Boss had one at her Limo Business. We were short on Suburban's one day so I had to use it...After my Job was over for the day I stopped at the drive thru and the cashier was so impressed saying how much they loved those and just went on and on...LOL

Bought mine 6 months ago. Same color and year as his, but in MUCH better condition. I drive it daily, but my commute is short so I’m not adding much mileage. It only has 104,000.

The original Humvee had the helicopter lift point that were attached to the frame and came up through the hood. For the H2 they have that simulated lifting apparatus attached to the hood itself. Some things like that should just be eliminated. They make the vehicle look even cheesier than it already is.

Liquid Slugging is a known issue on that era of H2 and it causes that tensioner to make noise. I had an 03 with the Adventure package and went through that with mine. The ride height air compressor can fail and they're pricey, when mine quit I ran a "T" and connected the bags to the Schrader valve next to the 12v accessory port. That made adjusting the bags occasionally easy.

I have a 2008 with a terrible rattle in the sunroof. I hope you tear that headliner apart and show me how I can fix it. I think the sunroof is the same in the first GEN and the second GEN. It’s going to be fun watching you give this thing an overhaul.when you’re done I hope you will look for a 2008 model and show the difference between the first GEN and second GEN.

One of my friends was working at GMs full size truck division as an engineer when these were being developed. She told me they added weight to the H2 so the fuel economy wasn't reportable. Probably better mileage in the RV pulling it.

Check to see if that Sirius radio has a lifetime subscription - if it does that's a SCORE! Since the previous owner spent a bunch on things for this rig they may have paid the $150 for the lifetime... When I'm at garage sales and I see a satellite radio if it's an older one (labeled Sirius or XM - not SiriusXM) I'll usually buy it on the chance it has a lifetime subscription.
