Well I've finally learnt how to fly the Bfish and Xian but it took a lot of trying different key assigments and stuff. The big breakthrough was when I realised you have to use the keyboard for precise throttle settings rather than the joystick throttle lever..Also flying in external view is the best way because you get a much better idea of how the machine is sitting in the air..They're still harder to fly than in the old days, but as long as you fiercely concentrate on what you're doing you shouldn't crash more than about twice in every 10 flights..:)
I used to like flying the Blackfish and helicopters in external view, but 1.70 has messed up the view and people are complaining about it in the Boh forum. Basically after 1,70 the camera stays pointing in the same direction as the nose, so when you flare for landing all you see is sky.
Update 1.70 has also messed some other things up too such as the Titan AA launcher's lockon, and the AT rocket exhaust is now invisible. There are also a completely new set of Blackfish control keys. Bohemia have always been a too big outfit and badly need streamlining to improve their efficiency.
Tungsten Kid The way the Titan works is correct though, for the first 50 meters there should be no trace of the rocket because it was simply pushed from the tube.
Yeah, the sky is now empty of Blackfishes in the multiplayer servers because nobody'll touch it til it's fixed, haha..:) I used to love the Bfish to bits and flew it regularly because it was a tough hombre and could absorb a lot of damage from flak and SAM's and still stay in the air..:)
Nice work mate! God only knows why someone would want to land with Auto Vectoring On though, I find you just don't have as much control during the approach and descent stage.
hey, thanks for the tutorial, helped me out but suddenly the blackfish kicks all the way up too 100% on the engine, this wasnt happening the other times I practiced but now its doing it and its just really annoying
I didnt but just incase it suddenly started happening when I did KoTH Ive been doing it again in editor and havent had it happen to me, but I dont know
Try leaving the group you are in. I believe that once there are more than 2 people (incl yourself) in the group, the throttle will jump up to max all the time when on the ground. At least know this happens in koth, possibly also in other missions with a similair group system.
MK84 It's been a while since I've played arma but I didnt know how to move the nacelles so I figured you couldn't. I have the thrust master warthog but there is a issue to where you can use HOTAS with arma on windows 8. Hopefully they fixed it. It looks like the tilt rotor controls have improved a lot though. When I used to fly the blackfish I never felt like I had positive control of the aircraft. The controls just didn't make that much sense or feel that realistic to me.
What setting in the controls menu are you guys using for the manual vectoring? I dont see any button description that shows vectoring except for autovector on/off.
It's the same as Flaps Up/Down key. Suggest you reset the keybinds to Apex default, then you can control Flaps/Vectoring with LCTRL+Mousewheel Up/Down.
Is ti just me or is this plane much easier to fly in both configurations with manual vectoring? the amount of times auto-vectoring has fucked me up is un-real
I know right. ;-) Yet when you press the airbrakes key your speed is reduced. With Vectoring set to Auto pressing the airbrakes key would rotate the nacelles to 45 degrees. With Vectoring set to Manual I have yet to see visually what it does except for the increase in rate of speed loss. Maybe it changes the pitch of the blades.

Love the blackfish, always reminded me of thunder bird two though...calling international rescue...
it reminded me of the Avatar planes i like that movie :)
Thanks i tought the blackfish felt really weird after jets update

Yea it's an issue if you fly in 3rd person. BI working on it from what I hear.

Thanks, but is the Titan AT a real missile used by the real military, or is it just a fictitious invention for Arma3?

Jesus, this video was very well put together. Well done!
Nice video, thank you for sharing!
Nice work mate!

Thanks. Yep much better controls with manual. Even better with Feint's mod.
I use a custom keybind set up with my X-52 so can just use one of my Hat switches to control the manual vectoring.

That is odd, did you press ESC ie go the menu or open the map?
I didnt but just incase it suddenly started happening when I did KoTH

@@timitemessor7119 This ^ It's still happening in KOTH :D
How can u rotate the nacelles? I dont understand it because my english is not the best, could u help me?
CTRL+L and CTRL+K
What is the airbrake key? I know z is throttle down buy I've never used airbrakes
It should be B.
Check your keybinds, I have mine set up as X.
nice guide...
everytime I reduce the throttale my aircraft stalls and crashes
Step 5 and 6 in video, under Manual Vectoring.
was so easy before, how do I change it to how it was before?
You can't. You'll have to unlearn what you know and learn how to fly again.
but how is anyone meant to land a vtol when it just stalls everytime you try and decrease altitude?
Use manual vectoring, step 5 and 6 in the video. Ctrl-K and Ctrl-L rotates the nacelle.
Also, practice... practice.... and more practice....
how do i rotate the nacelle :o
If you or others still have the question: flaps down/up while autovectoring off
Have you always been able to control the angle of the nacelles in manual?
Before the update, you can only do so if you have analog throttle bound.

Thanks.
The new Blackfish keys are in the VTOL Field Manual, they seem a lot more fiddly than they used to be before 1.70.
Can you still control the flaps ?
Only when Vectoring is set to Auto, unless you use Feint's Mod.
Is ti just me or is this plane much easier to fly in both configurations with manual vectoring? the amount of times auto-vectoring has fucked me up is un-real
Yep better to fly it with manual vectoring, you have more control over the systems.
holy shit thanks
Airbrakes?
Yes
MK84 no such thing on the blachfish
I know right. ;-)

MK84 thanks
MK84 both for this video and explaining the "Airbrakes"
